Good 'Very Cold Day' for us Southerners!
Ready now for Spring...we've had our snow, and a good 'long lasting' :) freeze. I'm ready for singing birds, sunny skies, and blooming daffodils! Please??!!
Speaking of blooming, my old orchids from years past, one of them is notorious for sending up a spike, and then only putting 3 buds on it?? Don't know why, been doing that for at least 4 years now....but the best part is, it opened its biggest bud overnight NYE into NYD, so I got up Jan 1st 2018 to a blooming orchid! Cool. Lots more to come. Looks like I'll have orchids blooming well past April 1st! (they're all 'moth orchids...or more technically Phalaenopsis!
    Hi Valerie
Me too, Come on warmer weather. OTOH You do need some cold weather for the Daffodils :)

How nice that You have Orchids blooming.
Breakfast today was also lunch again. I'm getting pretty good at doing that! So, avocado toast with mustard micro greens...each of the two slices of bread had in the left bottom small collection of penicillin growth :), that I pinched off...reducing by a very slight amount the carb count? LOL. If I missed some, and my body is harboring any 'bad' bacteria, then I should be cured of whatever it is! And I ate some more Hoppin John, with Collards. No rice, figured the bacteria bread would be carbs enough...and it was followed by 2 Halo Clementines. Should keep me full til dinner time.

Roger, I hope you watched Ed's "Emmy eats' video...cuz, the Jollibee restaurant nearest to Emmy's part of NY, was in New Jersey!! So, watch the video, decide which items sound really good to you, and then check to see how far or near Jollibee's is to you. It would be so neat if you went and tried some of the food to see A. How you liked it, and B. How accurate Emmy is with her food reports! :) Meanwhile I'll look to see if we have anything like that, I doubt it, we have Middle Eastern, Hispanic, and Japanese populations..also a pretty good chunk of Dominicans locally.

UGA will be playing for the 'big fish'...Monday I think. I've not poked around yet to see who UGA be playing.

Ok, Time to check on the cat who choose to dash out the door about an hour ago. Hope he'll come in feeling really sleepy, and not continue his growly meow voice badgering!

    Later...
I have done that with bread myself, Call me Cheap, I prefer to think Frugal :)
I have had Halo's in the past and they were good, just not a great price.

I looked up Jollibee and the only location in NJ is
    NEW JERSEY
    Danforth
    393 Danforth Ave.
    Jersey City, NJ 07305
    (201) 946-7461

I am not that close to Jersey City and back in the 90s when I was delivering there many parts were not that great and I do not expect it has gotten any better.

    Good Luck With the Cat

    Howdy y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday!

27 out there now with an expected high of 39 and no chance of precipitation.

The cats, surprisingly, let me sleep in this morning. They, and I, have just had our breakfast. Cat food for them. Leftovers for me. still several meals from the leftovers, though just one more good serving of the greens. My greens were really good this year and I have been thoroughly enjoying them.

Might get out to a grocery store today. Might not. We'll see. Feeling lazy, but part of that is because I just ate a few minutes ago.

Let's try Vegemite! Actually I have tried Vegemite and found it to be something I can eat but not a favorite. It can be a nice addition to a soup, gravy, or sauce though, to spike the flavor a bit. Marmite is much the same. The taste is a little different, but again, something I can eat. I have not tried Bovrite. J wouldn't even try that, since it has meat in it.

    Hey guys!
I have just one more meal (lunch tomorrow?) of my New Years good luck food. Today's lunch was sorta blended with my stick blender, and I added extra Veg. broth. It was good as a thick soup!

Got out to gas the car, and went into Costco store for my Promise bread...except they didn't have any...so I bought$40 worth of 'other'...like a huge package of paper towels Probably last thru at least of July 4th!, and a 4 pack of Pacific brand of Vegetable Broth...I think it figured out to be a little over $1.50 a box...which for that brand is very inexpensive!
and 2 boxes of salad greenery! Oh, and a bag of popped corn...big bag! Costco was extraordinarily BUSY!! I finally figured it out...today was the first day of their new 'on sale' stuff, like all the vitamins, and other stuff.

Tom E. is now asleep on the couch. I may sneak off to bed myself just to be toasty warm...Have many books, games, etc to mess around with.

Tomorrow will be another day...maybe some more sifting thru 'stuff', or not.

    Later...

I also got out today and filled up my vehicle, and then went on into the Kroger store to spend more money than I needed to. I did ponder the fried chicken at the deli department but came on home and ate a plate of New Year food for lunch, to keep working on that delicious stuff. Lunch finished off the greens.

Finished off my New Year food entirely tonight for dinner, having a rather large portion to do so. Big plate of beans, ham, and cornbread. Delicious, but I will not miss it. I ate that for quite a few meals and thoroughly enjoyed it, but tomorrow I will have to find something and cook for breakfast, unless I just eat cold or hot cereal and yogurt, which is a possibility, as I have all three items available.

I'll probably open up my big bag of bacon crumbles or cook some more of that open package of bacon slices, and have scrambled eggs with cheese and bacon, and maybe a small fried potato to go with that. We'll see.

Going to feed the sugar gliders and go on to bed myself to get nicely warm. I'm sure the cats will be in agreement with that.

    Hi
I'm back from walking this Morning. The temperature this morning was 28 on the porch and 29 on the cable news channel. When I left the house it had not started snowing. By the time I picked up my coffee it had started and the winds had picked up. The wind and snow picked up while I was out and I was happy to get back home :)

From what my brother said the grocery store was a madhouse with Snow Panic Man & Woman due to the weather forecast. Also he filled the gas tank while out so there is no need to head out for a couple of days.

I pulled out a package of Vacuum sealed Christmas Ham to use as a protein today. I need to stay 100% NS for a while due to the damage from the Holidays.

    Have a Good Day

    Hi Valerie
I'm good on CostCo items. I have a decent stock on hand of all three paper goods we use and I have two unopened bags of frozen Vegetables in the Basement freezer.

I have my fingers crossed that the Blizzard winds do not eat the electric power.

Howdy y'all. It's thrilling Thursday! 23 out there now looking for a high of 31 with no chance of precipitation.

Might get out to Aldi today, but not desperate for anything and it's COLD out there so might not.

I had bacon mac and cheese (not low carb, I used REAL macaroni) for breakfast. Maybe the eggs, bacon, cheese and potato idea for lunch. Didn't feel like coping with all that early this morning.

In this particular instance, greens meant a mix of of half collards and half kale. Here in the south greens can mean mustard greens, turnip greens, collard greens, kale, really pretty much any of the edible leaves in that family, aside from cabbage, which we just call cabbage for some reason. Maybe because that's what it is?

Often if a food is just labeled "greens" on a menu, it may be a mixture of whichever leaves were available at the market, again, aside from cabbage, or it may be just collard greens. And most of us who like greens aren't that picky about which ones we eat, as long as they're cooked right, though some people claim to love one type and not care at all for another.

To me the taste of any of them by itself is similar, but each does have a distinct flavor of its own. I happen to like all of them, which is why I am one of the "not picky" ones when it comes to greens. I do, of course, expect collard greens on my plate if that's what is listed, but I probably wouldn't send it back if it wasn't.

Collard greens, specifically, are the green leafy vegetable for New Years in the south, but for those who don't like collards, there is cabbage that is often prepared instead, or one of the others in the family. I've even heard of people having spinach for their New Year greens but in my opinion that is really stretching the envelope. I like spinach but let's keep it in its place!
