Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday! The temperature may creep up a degree or two today, but less chance of rain.

Yesterday ended up having a bit more business to take care of than I had reckoned. I realized I had a coupon for $10 off on any purchase over $40 at PetSmart, but the coupon would expire August 5th, and yesterday was August 5th.

I hadn't really NEEDED to make my monthly run to PetSmart yet, but didn't want to lose that $10 off, so I headed out and stocked up on cat foods and kitty litter, spending $99 to save $10, but that takes care of their food and hygienic needs until next month, except for one bag of kibble that I need to order on Amazon at some point this month.

I did get my nap, albeit a short one. I might do some laundry today. Might not. LOL.

    Hey Ed,
(back to my old bad (late posting) habits I see.... I can't even claim a 'busy' day. Didn't even make it to the gym...I have no idea where the time went. LOL!

Did make a run to Publix...but still need to make a Whole Foods run, unless I wan't Tomorrow night something other than Pizza Friday! Guess this is what one would call a 'critical' grocery run!?

I did order some of Method's Pink Grapefruit foaming hand soap. I should not be out of it, BUT all this hand washing took its toll on my 'stock'. I often make my own 'foaming' soap when Kroger has those bins of $1 bottles of hand soap. Haven't seen those lately!!!

I was feeling a bit bad about the price of some of the vegetables these days....so I took my little self over to the meat department. DIdn't realize what a bargain my cauliflowers, carrots, and broccoli are!! LOL!

Hope you have a relaxing evening, and I'll see you.......

Howdy all y'all. It's fabulous Friday! The humidity is at 97% as it's just a hair warmer than the dewpoint. It's supposed to get near 90 today with 50% chance of scattered thunderstorms around noon and the early afternoon.

Breakfast was sausage patties with a French toast cheese sandwich.

Not a lot on the agenda today if I have anything to do with it.

I haven't made it to the post office to forward your card yet, Val.

    Good Morning Ed
Thanks for letting me know about the card from Mike...it crossed my mind this morning as I was waking!
Watched grandma make Saag! Made me so hungry...yikes. I should make some next week. I may make a 'slightly' modified version...and I do wish they would have subtitled the ingredients, but pretty sure I either knew what the items were, (or know how to get a good guess from any of the Indian cooking sites! :)
Lots to do today, and I've already spent an hour checking my mail, bank, etc. Ted is working today, so I am going to do all the floors. He offered to do them Sunday...heck no, he gets one day off this week, be damned if he'll do housework. Its a job doing the floors, but I can do it!
I made a list of chores last night...fortunately I put the list on my phone notes...cuz other than laundry, (which is just about ready for the dryer) and floors I have no idea what the other items were! So, at this point I don't know for sure if the list saved on the phone is a blessing or a curse! LOL!!

Hot again today...last evening and again about 9:30 we had rain, and lightening induced thunder...loudly...I didn't let that keep me awake mind you...but I know it happened. Rain gauge says nada...and I know better. "we" Ted will need to get it down from the pole he made for it...wonder what it is this time....the 'innards' are two oval-ish cups and as one fills, the other dumps and is counted by the electronics...last time it quit registering Ted discovered a busy little spider happily building a killer web..so much web as to stop the cups...last time it was wasps building a nest in side...can't wait t hear what it is this time!!

Ok, Hope you and Jason are well, and the kitties are 'respectful' of your sleeping/napping times!

Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday! It's sticky and cool at the moment, thanks to last night's downpour, along with lightning, thunder, and all that. But no power problems. It should be back up to normal(ish) summer heat this afternoon.

I have nowhere I have to be today other than HOME, waiting for my wine delivery. After that, I suppose I could go somewhere if I wanted, but where would I go? LOL

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday! Warm and sticky out there again, and there is a significant chance of thundershowers in the afternoon.

I have the dishwasher running now and probably will have the clothes washer (and dryer) running later.

Howdy all y'all. It's marvelous Monday! Warm and a bit sticky out there now, with a high near 90 expected and the usual chance of afternoon thunder showers. I have given Lilo her Monday morning fluid treatment, and eaten breakfast.

For dinner last night we started with breaded Camembert that came with lingonberry sauce (bought frozen at Lidl) and then ate the pasta bake I made using chickpea rotini, a jar of marinara sauce, and some Mozzarella cheese, topped with a final generous sprinkle of Parmesan Romano blend. It all baked up to beautiful tasty dinner.

Then, just before bed, a small, individual cup each, of blueberry crumble, the filling sweetened with Swerve, the crumble topping sweetened with Splenda brown sugar blend. One small scoop of vanilla ice cream to top that off.

The little drainage creek going down the south side of our yard belongs to the neighbor behind the fence. There was a big line of scrubby, grubby, weedy growth with briars on "our" side, on the strip of land that he owns.

Most people, seeing it, would have assumed that ugly mess belonged to us. But today I wandered out into the yard and discovered him cleaning all of that up! He was nearly finished when I discovered him.

His clean-up makes our yard look much nicer on that side, and I was very glad to see it. I went back as he was finishing up and gave him a bottle of Chardonnay to stick in the refrigerator and enjoy later.

    Hey Ed,
Got lost on the way here.... I know have a much better understanding of Besan, and why its good for you! Can be used just like flour. I use mine to make vegan gravy, but can see other uses now. Probably available at any Indian oriented grocery store...I got mine at Amazon!
I also perused the web site for North Anna Nuclear Power. My ex was head of that project in Mineral, VA. and I'd heard that Stone and Webster had gone out of business...not so, just a part of Westinghouse now. Spent quite a bit of time living in Mineral VA. I did, I did!!!

Onward with this day. Several chores to get done before nap time..none of them is Laundry!!! LOL!

Ah,ha! found your post, which I swear was not there when I started my post!! I have an area like that..Is not my property. Former owner had the graduated retention thingy built, and she was no gardener...I had fears..so I asked if I could use that for gardening. And I did, mostly growing garlic, and herbs. Fast forward 2 more owners, none of whom would do anything with that, and always looked at me like I had several heads when I suggested that it was their property. SOOO, I offered a few tomatoes to the current owners..(I think not yard/garden folks either...and I got a nice thank you text...sooooo, I think I'll broach the raised plantable area issue, and offer up some garden goodies. It will take quite awhile to get it cleaned up, but I would love to have that little space 'back' again to plant...hmmmm bottle of Chardonnay huh!!! Brilliant Ed!! Hope this works out for me...and your neighbors efforts does look very nice!

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday! It's the usual warm and sticky out there, with an expected high of 90 and minimal chance of rain. I did actually get a nap in yesterday, as the wine was all delivered, checked off against the order, and put away. One bottle was a year newer than expected (2019 instead of 2018) and two bottles of Merlot were substituted with bottles of the same varietal, Merlot, but Estate Reserve (the better stuff) from another Vintner all the way across the country (Washington state rather than New York state), and a year older (2015 instead of 2016) so they have had an extra year to mature and develop more complexity, and the substitutions were from a very well regarded winery.

I need to get out this morning as Lilo's medicine is finally ready for me to pick up. And it should come as no surprise to anyone that there is a dryer full of laundry from yesterday that needs to be folded and put away.

    Good Morning Ed,
Catastrophe at my house is brewing. (pun appropriate, though unintended!) My shipment of mushroom coffee is ?lost?...Company shows it shipped 8-1. USPS shows it arrived late 8-8 here in Lawrenceville....Somebody has dropped the ball. USPS does not show delivered... where is my coffee???? I have enough for Wed and Thurs...would be a sad sad Friday, except....I know I can order it from Amazon and have it here Friday....then the only problem is getting a refund from the company. I have a help desk request in...just waiting. (help desk is on the left coast, so they are probably still drinking their coffee!!) LOL!
Other than that, I plan to make a trip to Kroger to pick up my 'free' (coupon) carrots, the Sparkling Water, and I have coupons for Tommy's Superfoods...frozen veg. (I really like their mixed greens and Krog. sent me a $1 coupon just as I was using my last bag this week!) Its a bit more expensive, but really good!
And I need to work in some exercise sometime today.
I double checked...no laundry in my dryer!!!! LOL! (It's a rare day I can say that, sorry!)
So, other than the above, a nap would be nice, and there will be a dog walk or two. Nice quiet day. :)
Your wine shipment sounds like you got a really good deal! Always a reason to smile, right?
I know you will enjoy all of them, upgrades especially so!

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday! I woke early and drove to Kroger to take advantage of the senior hours, and avoid crowds. My receipt says I saved $38.91 but my bank account begs to differ, insisting that I spent $143.99. I think the bank account wins that discussion...

I have a couple of additional items to get, but Lidl doesn't open until 8:00 so I will head there shortly.

Still need to fold that dryer full of laundry.

Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday! It's another hot, sticky summer day, with a good chance of evening showers.

I actually got my laundry folded and put away yesterday, even after all that shopping in the morning. I didn't need much from Lidl yesterday, after that big Kroger run, and, since I was there right after my breakfast, I didn't buy a TOO much un-needed stuff, but some indulgences managed to fall into my stuff. I can't imagine how that happened. LOL.

I know. It was Eduardo! He snuck those things into my buggy when I wasn't looking...That's my story and I am sticking to it!

    Good Morning Ed,
Weekend is coming..along with cooler temps, and of course, rain! But my yard is begging for rain. I may have to go out and water later today.
Watched Grandma make the squash masala. So now, of course, I'm hungry!

So, Eduardo went shopping with you yesterday. I don't know the name of my 'shopping helper' but she/he's really excels at putting goodies in my basket. Oh well...the only way I know to stop that, is to shop online! When WebVan was a 'thing' here (thinking before you all moved to GA), I saved a ton of money using their service. I am one of those people who should never be issued a shopping cart! If I had to carry in my hands and arms all those things I 'think' I need....!!!

My grocery run to Kroger set me back $59. (sooo, you know I didn't get everything for the week. Still need: fresh broccoli, and I need to count my apples..I may need 2 or 3 of those also) Now for the fun part: Things I WANT!! This is where the bank account suffers along with my waist line! Maybe one day I'll grow up...oh horrors!!!

Tomatoes are about 'done'...2 or 3 of the regular tomatoes, and a bunch or two of the little toms. Those have slowed down so much that it's only 2 or 3 a day, and those generally don't make it into the house in my hand! Nothing better than a warm sun ripened garden tomato! When I grew up on the farm, RoundUp wasn't 'born' yet, so all our food was pretty much 'organic', and my Dad would snag a tomato or radish, etc give it a little rub on his shirt and pop whatever in his mouth. Being a little shadow, I would do the same... :)

You got all your clothes folded and put away!!!...wish I could say the same for my grocery run. I was totally way past tired by the time I got everything into the house. Stuff went in the fridge, or freezer...most of the rest of it is sitting with me at the dining room table, sad to say!
And once again, I did not win either of the big lotteries. Well, I did match the power ball last week, so that paid for this weeks plays! Which only means that Friday's Mega Millions had better come thru with some money for me!!! LOL!

Howdy all y'all. It's fabulous Friday! A bit cooler today but last night's bit of rain, with lots of grumbling and noise, seems to have presaged another afternoon and evening of the same today.

One of the trees in the uphill neighbor's yard seems to have lost a couple of branches, that have swayed down over our kitchen patio in their dying gasps. A small one is laying partially on our roof but no apparent damage.

I trimmed what I could reach from the ground with my loppers, which took some of the weight off what is still hanging down, partially attached to the tree, but we may have to call someone in to take down the rest. I will assess that after I see what else I can do with my ladders, loppers, and saws...it's a bit warm to do much of that kind of work outside, at least at my age.

    Good Morning Ed!
Pizza Friday @ my house...and I watched Grandma make a HUGE pizza...she did good!! Imagine making your own oven, etc. I won't ever complain about making pizza again! BUT I will have my frozen pizza for dinner tonite, and lunch tomorrow! Yum..can't wait!

Sorry you have a 'new' tree on your patio...I hope you have a 'good' kind of neighbor who will help you get it off the roof. Technically I know that once the limb fell into your yard/patio/roof, it became YOURS, and they hold no obligation to pay for damage/removal/disposal responsibility.. but a really GOOD neighbor would at very least offer to help!

Looks to be a day long cloudy, rainy, weird Sauna type day. For right now, both of my 4 footed charges are sound asleep! I don't expect to see Maya before noon...Tom E. naps, so he'll be the pest of the day!!! At least I have absolutely no reason to become 'lonely'!!! Ted said Maya was upset last night as it was stormy, and apparently its the flashing of the lightening, not so much the noise that frightens her. I DID offer to put up blackout curtains...Ted said NO!!! LOL!
I know Tom E. was not comfortable with the storm before I went to bed...lots of hugs, and pets, and talking seems to make it at least a bit better for him.

I 'may' run to Publix and pick up some broccoli, and 1 yellow squash, or zucchini, that with the shiitake mushrooms, onion, green pepper, rice, and tofu that I already have, and tomorrow I will re-create the Tofu and Vegetables entree I get at VeGreen's. :) It's so good, and I know how to make the sauce that they make. Will do the prep work earlier in the day, so it become 'en-Mizen' when I'm ready to actually cook and eat. :)

Have been watching the school mess that's going on here. POTUS seemed to be saying that the states governors should mandate masks if you're over 2. So now the question is...our gov. Kemp leapt at opening the state when Trump said we HAD to do it...he took Mayor Bottoms to court over her mandating face covers for the city of ATL...I'm not sure that even got onto a court docket??? Anyhow, I am wondering if now that POTUS spoke will Kemp be so quick to mandate masks in GA. Could be an interesting day....and I hope he does require masks. Troublesome as it may be, it will help hold down this surge of new Covid=19 cases...especially in our younger populations. OK>>>OFF MY SOAPBOX...your turn!! LOL!

Have a great day...and practice weekend mode!

Well, I was able to trim off the parts of tree that were touching the roof, and the parts partially obstructing our walk way. One tree has a dying branch that still overhangs the roof a little, but nothing that would damage it, even if it came straight down. It's not likely to come straight down anyway, but more likely to swing toward the uphill fence and just bump it, without likely damaging the fence either.

The other tree looks like it lost the whole top and may die. But what's left that I couldn't reach is being held up mostly by another, bigger tree and likewise doesn't look like an immediate threat to anything now, after my trimming of what I could reach.

Both trees broke way too high for me to get up there and properly take down the rest anyway, so we'll monitor that situation and, if necessary, call some professional help in later. It may never be a problem.

I may do some house cleaning later. I have already run the dishwasher and put all the clean dishes away. And I have done my monthly flush of the air conditioner drain.

I have the clothes washer running a CLEAN WASHER cycle, with only bleach, now, which should be done in about an hour, and I have the coffee/tea maker started on a cleaning cycle of its own, with half a pot of white vinegar put in, the device started, run until some of it dripped through, and then shut off to let the innards soak in vinegar for about half an hour, after which I will turn it back on and let the rest of the vinegar cycle through and then flush it by cycling three pots of fresh water through it.

So I am having at least something of a productive morning.

    Good Morning Ed!!
It is indeed Sunday...a day of rest and renewal. Also unfinished chores at my house! OOPS!
Had a wonderful rain yesterday evening. Started as an approaching storm, wind, very dark, and then this 'grayness' from across the nasty mosquito pond that the county made when they drained the pond...anyhow, the grayness was heavy downpour of rain...which then calmed down to a nice moderate rain. I'm betting everything looks better today in the yard. Glad Ted mowed it yesterday!

Hockey game tonite at 8, so a nap will be required this afternoon! Enjoyed the game yesterday afternoon, which happened during prime nap time...but I didn't let that keep me from my nap. It was just a bit later than usual! :)

Hope you have a super Sunday, and I will watch grandma cook on several of these video's. I do find them interesting.

LOL! when watching grandma cook, I need two pages open...one with the video, the other on Google...then I can look up these ingredients, Indian words, etc Keeps me busy! :)

Curious about the melon type fruit and good heavens ALL that Sugar!!! YIKES..
And Emmy was very helpful. I've seen those little melon like things in the Mexican Market next door to my gym. Now, next time I will know what they are, and how to use them. Thanks Emmy!!!

Now, after a nice nap, I need to look up how to obtain a paper absentee ballot for our General Election....and if what I just saw on my TV, counties are only required to have one ballot drop box PER COUNTY??? So, there goes my bright idea to drop my ballot at Shorty Howell..(2miles) to, um to??????? Still have time to get this all sorted out in my little brain...

    So, nap time... :):):)
    Byeee!!!

Howdy all y'all. It's marvelous Monday! Just a teensy bit cooler today, and a teensy bit less sticky. The downhill neighbor was noisily working on his side of the little drainage creek all day yesterday. That made napping a bit difficult but his compressor (pressure washing the fence too) was mostly a regular enough sound that I was able to tune it out, except for times when the cadence occasionally changed.

I need to run the dishwasher today.

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday! It should be nice today but the next few days show a forecast for possibly lots of rain. We will see.

Might do a little house cleaning today.

    Hi Ed
Busy day. 8:30 blood letting for next weeks visit with little Doc., home, COFFEE and peanutbutter and jelly toast for 'breakfast'..then out to the gym, and a trip to Kroger. I had the same problem you did recently....I spent $60 bucks, but they tell me I 'saved' $17. WOW. feature that??? Oh well, all food will be eaten. I can say I honestly hate the way Kroger's sales tapes print out. Make a preacher say bad words!!
So , after gym and Kroger, I ate the container of sushi, and then the fun began. I so wanted a nap...first it was the cat...whine whine, whine...given food, let outside, played with..and finally settled. Just in time for Miss Maya to wake...needy. Now, she'd been asleep all day, and I was sure she needed, really needed to go outside...so we did that. Gave her her food, and another large bowl of water. That dog drinks more water than I'd have ever believed possible!! Ok, gave snacks...and here comes the cat....what?? So, another half hour and I finally got to go to my room and shut the door! I could have slept well into the night, but up after 2 hours I made myself get up. Tomorrow?? a trip to ATL, dr. Pat, and down the street Whole Foods for my fix of Fried Tofu...and a stop at Trader Joe;s delicious veggie burger!! There is something else, but I can't remember what it is.....brain has gone on on vacation. Wasn't happy with staycation in my skull!!! LOL!

Off to ferret out something that resembles dinner? I think it may well look like a baked sweet potato and a big mound of greens. And a 'treat' of some kind. Might well look just like an apple!

Hope you've had a good day...and are looking forward some rain over the next few days. I know my yard will be happy! (The tomatoes are pretty much 'toast'...I'm thinking of pulling the bedraggled plants and seeing if I can find some rainbow chard plants. I did that several years ago, enjoyed chard all winter and it looked nice too!)

Thanks for forwarding the card from Mike! I will once again send him my mailing address. :)
I am sorry you have ended up being responsible for seeing that I get mail from Mike. On the other hand, we have had some nice lunches...but..shouldn't be your job!

    Later...

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday! A bit cooler with a good chance of late afternoon/evening rain. With the rain there should come a few days of lower temperatures, which I know I will enjoy.

Might hop out to Lidl for a few things this morning.
