Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday! 75 with an expected high of 85 and 20% chance of precipitation. Baked beans have been in the oven for about 2 1/2 hours and will be coming out in a while to head off to the End of Summer pool party. Today is J's birthday. I hope he has an extra good time today. Dinner tonight will be his choice, of course.
Need to clean up yesterday's cat bowls and put down their kibble. I also need to run to the pet store and get some canned kitten food for Oliver. After the first of the month, I may buy him a whole case of one that I know he seems to like. But maybe not...he does like several so I may rotate between them.

I do not think my Econo Crock Pot gets hot enough to Boil water, I would likely use the Rice Cooker for that as I have noticed the water coming to a boil in it as it cooks the rice.
I have been known to skim Fat too, sometimes I just try mopping it off with a paper towel.
Do You have any problems with that type of take out containers, I find that they tend to leak any liquids into the bag unless I am very careful. I had some Chili from a grocery Store called Bishop's, it was mostly ground beef with a few beans and a little liquid. I mention it since the Cardboard container did not leak even laying on its side despite me filling it to brim before putting the lid on.
BTW am I the only one here that skippped watching the hearing overload in the news Thursday and Friday ?

My cheapest little slow cooker (I think $10 for this one quart cooker) takes a long time to get to a boil, but it does get there eventually. It is either on or off, with no high or low or warm setting. On seems to be about the same as LOW on other slow cookers, as I can make a nice batch of beans in about 8 to 10 hours in it, and they do boil after quite some time. I usually start it off with hot (or even boiling) liquid to give it a head start.
I have found that the flat, styrofoam containers will leak badly if they have anything that is very soupy in them, even if it's not all that full, as it sloshes around in transport. If the bucket type container is overfilled and/or the lid isn't properly sealed, I've noticed they can be just as messy. But when I order delivery, it comes as it comes so I take my chances. Most places at least use the bucket type for the soupier items.
I didn't watch any of the hearings either but read more than enough about them...

Saturday the High was in the low 70s.
Rotating different foods could help prevent boredom for Oliver if cats get bored with food, I do not know.

My Cheapo from Amazon crock pot does have 2 or 3 heat settings. Our Chinese Takeout Soups come in plastic containers that do not leak. Many of the others that have a liquid in them such as Chow Mein come in flat bowls with plastic lids and they do not leak either. The Fried Rice Dishes come in the Cardboard containers and thing like the Chicken Wings come in a Plastic coated bag

Me too, Too much news much of it seeming to use the same basic outline as if from a script that distributed to all the news organizations. Too many confrontations which made me wonder if they were being funded and orchestrated TBH.

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday! 73 with an expected high of 81 and 20% chance of rain. The pool was a bit on the cool side yesterday, or perhaps one should say it was BRISK. I did get in it a couple of times but only for a few minutes. J got in once and didn't stay long at all.
On the way home, we did, indeed, stop at his favorite restaurant for supper. I just had some chicken satay. We then went to Kroger and bought some cake. He decided on a frozen Oreo ice cream cake for his birthday cake and we found a small carrot cake for $5 to be my official birthday cake, as I didn't end up having any on my actual birthday. I haven't, in fact, had any of the carrot cake yet, as he wanted the Oreo ice cream cake last night so we each had a slice of that, though mine was very thin. I needed a small, late night snack before going to bed anyway, as my glucose was a little on the low side for bedtime, and a sliver of Oreo ice cream cake was as good as any other snack I suppose, all things considered.
I did have a sliver of coconut cake at the party, and for once did NOT eat any burger, though I did get a nice, burned hot dog. Someone had purchased BoJangle's slightly spicy fried chicken so I had some of that, rather than a burger, which was a nice change of pace, but still couldn't resist that one, nicely charred hot dog (no bun) as it just called to me. And, of course, a spoonful of my baked beans and a spoonful of potato salad. There were other snacky things and cookies, some of which somehow found their way into me, but I stayed fairly active, making sure the chip bowls stayed full, arranging the food, and walking around a lot, as well as some light exercise while in the pool, so don't think I did too much diet damage.
Need to clean up yesterday's cat bowls and get today's kibble put down, if they've consumed all their canned food. And I do want a nap today. I didn't get one yesterday and was really feeling it by the time I got to bed, which was after 11:00.

Wowsers, I have not had a Ice Cream Cake in many years, I bet it was tasty depending on the Quality of the Ice Cream.

I always liked my hot dogs fresh off the grill with the outside charred. A Good Hot Dog does not need a topping IMO, A Cheap one needs some toppings to disguise the the cheap taste. The hard part for me would have been stopping at one spoon of Baked Beans or Homemade Potato Salad, Cookies
I do love a good Grilled Hamburger and I have never had Bojangles. There is one location in Pennsylvania that is 78 miles as the crow flies, further by road. The next closest appears to be In Virginia, Neither of which is within driving distance just for Take Out Chicken
I was afraid that I might have damaged my Diet yesterday with the 0.6 pounds of Spare Ribs on top of my regular meals, However I was down this morning so Whee ! The Spare Ribs had a sprinkling of some dry topping, however they tasted like Roast Pork and were so tender that the meat fell off the bones cleanly and I did enjoy them. I did not weigh the bones to see what the net weight of the Pork was.
