Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday! A bit rainy this morning, but supposed to be nicer after about 10:00 this morning, with cooler temperatures yet again. I sure am not going to complain about cool temperatures. I really don't like the summer heat.

I may take a walk after I get my beef roast started in a slow cooker, about 10:00.

    Good Morning Ed!
Not too bad outside.. everything is a little damp, but the sun is beginning to brighten things up a bit.
I'd like to make this a bit longer, but Ted's already half way thru the Saturday Morning cleaning, so the least I can do is get up and do my part too! LOL!
    Wish I had his energy.

I think I had Sunday dinner on Saturday! Roast beef, roasted (skin on) potatoes and carrots, and steamed, buttered green peas.

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday! It looks like there will be no walk today, as it's supposed to be rainy most of the day. If I had been up earlier and gone immediately, I may have been quick enough to beat the rain, but that doesn't look likely now, and I would rather not get soaked.

Since I am NOT going, the rain will probably hold off until lunchtime, just so it can laugh at me. But if I DO go, it will be lurking, waiting until there is no way I can avoid getting soaked, so I will try to figure out some way of exercising a bit here at home, indoors.

My prescriptions were ready early so I went to Publix on Friday and managed to pick up the most essential grocery items while there. I was appalled at the number of customers AND employees not wearing masks. Nearly everyone was ignoring the ONE WAY markers in the aisles as well and just wandering as normal. I was doing my best to follow the arrows, which meant I had to go the long way around for some items, and I was wearing one of our precious N95 masks.

I got what I could, and got out. I forgot onions, and didn't want to navigate the maze to get back to them, but can manage a few more days without. There is still one onion in there, and I have instant minced, and onion powder as well. I did get milk and eggs, some snack chips for J (yes, I DO consider those essential - I gotta live with J!), cereal, salsa, cinnaman, iodized salt, and canned beans and corn. Paper products are still being hoarded, apparently, as people rush out to spend their incentive check and invest in toilet paper, paper towels and napkins. So I didn't get any napkins, but I can go a bit longer on what we have.

I can wait until we get critically low on some things before I have to venture into the grocery jungle again. I have enough to keep up with some kind of reasonable variety in meals so J won't get bored with the same (or similar) thing too often. Last night, and today's lunch, for J, spicy egg and veggie fried rice is the menu.

I might wash a bit of laundry today.

    Good Morning Ed,
It surely is a wet mess outside. And the thunder....yikes!
I can give you some links that will get you to Planet Fitness 'Work-ins'..and there's another, but will have to find that one. I know the PF ones are about 20 minutes, and can be done with only body weight, etc. Also they have one that's mostly seated. And before you start laughing at that....Sometime in the mid or maybe early 1980'a the hospital I was working at, decided to go smokeless. So, they handpicked about 2 dozen of us, and sent us to a 'stopping' 3 day weekend. I was one of the lucky??? ones selected. So, one of the days they offered a 'chair workout'... so I thought easy peasy. Wrong again! Sweating my ears off, and very tired. Not saying ALL chair workouts are like that though.

I think it may well be a nap day. Tom is mostly napping on the chair I placed next to me...but then he wakes, and he definitely wants something, but what?? He's been fed, has water, clean sand box, kibble, etc. I've petted and talked to him till I'm blue in the face....and for all my efforts, I get a full paw's worth of claws in my leg. Arrrg.

Ted has begun the last of our puzzle boxes. This one will be a bear...its a neutral beige-ish solid background, and rows and rows of butterflies!!! I need to help work this one...I may actually learn some of the butterfly names! LOL! groan.

Hope you find something at your house. I remember Roger had a 'route' to walk in their house on days that were just to inclement to do is outside route. I general hit my hateful recumbent bike and/ or pick up some dumbells...or cans of vegetables, or water jugs, etc and sling them around for a bit.

    Later...
Planetfitness.com and just look til you see 'work-ins' There are a lot of workouts to choose from.

I took the day off. No exercise, other than letting Eduardo out to run around.

    Tonight's jalapeño frittata.

Howdy all y'all. It's marvelous Monday! It looks like it will be warm with rain this morning, and my sinuses and joints seem to be trying to agree. It should stop early enough for me to get in a nice walk in the fresh, rain washed air though, so I anticipate enjoying that.

After two meals of roast beef and all the veggies, and one hot, open faced roast beef sandwich, on whole grain, high fiber, low carb toast, and then a break from roast beef at supper last night, sharing the frittata with J, I turned the rest of the roast beef, veggies, and gravy into a lovely beef stew, and had a bowl of that for breakfast. There are at least two more bowls of stew left, so I would say I will have managed to make enough meals off of that one roast.

It did use the last of the carrots, so when I do get back to the store I need to spend some time in the produce section. I am about out of fresh vegetables. I do have one bag of salad mix left that will probably be a major part of today's lunch.

    Nothing critical on the agenda.

    Good Morning Ed!
Rain seems to be over! I heard lots of rolling thunder last night before midnight...but nothing woke me after that.
I think I may stir fry something for dinner...in the wok, not just a big skillet or pan. :) Right now I'm eating an apple. I'd love to dip it in some peanut butter, but...there is the scale to deal with. So Naked Apple for me!!

Ted and I are going to trim back a couple azalea's in the back yard, and I may? also tackle a big over grown one at the house foundation in front.

Enjoyed the Mushroom Ragu video. I pretty much do what the cheap guy does...Only I put mine on noodles. However the idea of rigatoni sounds pretty good!!!

We've begun the Butterflies of the Mid-Atlantic and the south jigsaw puzzle. It is a smaller #number of pieces, but not any easier than the others. (and I thought it would be a piece of cake...nope!)

Ted and Maya are out for their long walk, so I'm going to hit the bike for 10-15 minutes before my stir fry lunch.

Hope you're having a good day...oh, and this week is the Leonid (sp?) meteoroid show, peaking on Tuesday night. Hope there arent any clouds...cuz this one always puts on a good show! And as clean as the air is..(like how blue can the sky get??!!!!) should be able to see them come streaking by.

    Later...
Happy Healthy Safe are my 'words to live by these days' :)

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday! It should be a warm one with no chance of precipitation. I finished off my stew for breakfast today. I guess I should set something up to thaw but I think all I have left is a pound of ground beef. I may have to see how busy Ingle's looks after my walk...to get food!

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday! A bit chilly out there right now, but it should be warm this afternoon, with no chance of rain today.

I have already been to the grocery, to take advantage of senior hour with less crowds, and will walk when I finish my tea and have fed the cats.

Not a lot on the agenda today.

    Good Morning Ed,
Hope your walk went well, and that Ingles had the grocery items you were looking for!! Publix hasn't had tofu blocks for at least 2 weeks...But, I still have 2 in the refrigerator, and one or possibly 2 in the freezer...so I'm good....or else I'm going to Kroger, or Whole Foods...Somebody surely has tofu!

You know I had to watch Emmy fry dandelions! Pretty much what I've been doing, except no egg in my tempura batter. :) I've sent the link to Jack, as we talked about eating them yesterday when he called

Looks like a good sunny day in store today! I'm all for that!

So, I know you don't have a gym membership, but since I sorta do, I was most interested in Gov. Kemp opening the gyms day after tomorrow. Not at all sure how I feel about that either. Heavens knows I MISS my gym and my gym buddies...but....not at all sure I will be breaking my neck to go. Will be curious to see how they 'social distance' the gym???? I personally think all of this is a little 'soon'. Not 100% GA has 'peaked'. But, being a good little politician he has no doubt put a smile on the face of POTUS. ARGGGG!

Tom E. can't decide what he wants today...food, mmm, maybe, was good for about 3 bites, outside??? only if its out the FRONT DOOR, back door definitely not!!!...he's napping now. Wonder who will wake up? Could be cute funny Tom E...or could be whinny grumpy vocal cat!!

Hope your day goes well. Curious, (read nosey ) question...did you wear a mask to the grocery? on your walk? etc. Most people had on masks Tuesday morning at Publix...I have one, forgot to take it. Surprised somebody didn't say something to me in my 'shopping hour'.

    Stay Happy, Healthy, and Safe...

    Later...

I wear an N95 mask to the grocery. I do not wear a mask on my walk as it makes my glasses sit oddly, and might get sweaty. I make sure to keep a good distance from everyone, crossing the road or "streetwalking" as necessary. Hope I don't get arrested for streetwalking!

Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling thundery Thursday! Well, it's not thundering yet, but that is supposed to start around noon. We are supposed to have rain all day. I checked the hourly forecast and I see... Rain, Heavy Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, Thunderstorms, Thunderstorms, Thunderstorms, Scattered Thunderstorms, Scattered Thunderstorms, Scattered Thunderstorms, Scattered Thunderstorms, Scattered Thunderstorms, Scattered Thunderstorms, Thunderstorms, Thunderstorms, and that gets us all the way to bed time.

Finally about 2:00 in the morning it is supposed to get to partly cloudy and tomorrow is supposed to be pretty nice. No walk (at least outdoors) for me today! The only thing I intend to get out of the house for is the mail.

Eduardo wants to share that a vegetarian (sweet corn and green chilis) tamale covered with cheese and chili beans (as sauce) and served with Mexican style rice, cooked with onions and peppers in a spicy tomato sauce, makes a delicious meal, and leftover Mexican style rice can be re-purposed into an East Indian vegetable biryani quite nicely.

    Hi Ed!
WOW! a bathroom counter...I don't think mine is quite that big, and has about 100 X more stuff on it! You know its time to put some away, or throw it away when 'stuff is being stacked on other stuff!!! LOL!

I certainly hope you don't get arrested for Street Walking, cuz if you do, I guess I'll have to turn myself and Ted (and Maya) in to the authorities. We 3 street walk, at least once or twice a day...the other walks are just Ted and Maya. I don't get up at 6 a.m. to catch the early walk, and the pre-noon-ish one is Maya's Long Walk...I miss that one too...darn!!!!

I heard thunder here around 10 thru noon. Not a lot, or thunder, and not close by either. But it did make me think twice about hopping in the shower.

Ted did make a grocery run for himself. (he asked, I didn't need anything), and we now own BananaGrams. (We've run out of puzzles.).. So tonite I get to learn a new game! hmmmm!

Tomorrow I will make a run to the pet store for more wet cat food. Dang cat sure eats a lot!!
For sure I do NOT want to run out of his food.

BTW, that skinned goat looks disgusting! But if you like goat meat, I guess it would look much better.

Pretty soon, I should be looking for a 'dinner' of some sort. I had my dinner at lunch time cuz I was hungry!! So, soup, or sandwich, or such will be all I want now.

I hope I remembered to tell you that I got a nice letter from PF, saying they are NOT opening on Friday (tomorrow). That was a relief...took care of my indecision! So, it's me and that bike for awhile longer.

    Later...

Howdy all y'all. It's fabulous Friday! It should be a warm day with no chance of precipitation. I don't know if I have a specific housework project for today. I Maybe the small kitchen counters...but we will see.

Dinner last night was goulash that included some cassarecce pasta made from chickpeas. Lunch today will be the same. J had (and will have) chili beans with sweet corn.

I will surely take a nice walk after finishing my tea and feeding the cats.

Last night was our weekend outing night.

I ordered pizza from the garage deep freeze, prepared and served by Eduardo the chef. Eduard, the wine steward, suggested a nice, 2016 Syrah, from the wine rack in the bar and I approved.

We enjoyed that and then traveled to Melbourne, Australia, for a performance of Love Never Dies, the (not nearly as good) sequel to Phantom.

Then, a quick trip to the Royal Albert Hall in London, for Les Misérables, in concert, filmed in 1995. I got some freshly popped popcorn from the concession stand kitchen, conveniently located next to the theatre bar, to enjoy with the second feature.

By that time it was quarter to midnight, and I turn into a pumpkin at midnight, so it was bedtime for me. I woke to have the rest of the pizza, fresh from the refrigerator, for breakfast.

Not a lot on the agenda, but I do need to pick up Lilo's next bag of fluid for her subdermal treatments, and will probably run on down the road a bit to Kroger while I am out, to see about getting a few things that are running a tad low.

With Georgia supposedly beginning to re-open as of yesterday, it may be more crazy. Who knows? I intend to keep precautions in place until the medical experts agree that it isn't necessary, because they are doctors, not politicians. Politicians have their own agendas.

I want things to get back to normal as much as anyone, but I suspect it will be quite a while before it really starts to feel normal, and I suspect that normal won't be the same as it was before this pandemic, though it may slowly drift back toward that, if allowed to. Personally, I think a new normal could be a very good thing, if we go about it right.

I think I am actually doing fairly well, considering the times. But, as someone said on Facebook, I am tired of living in a major historical event!

    Good Morning Ed!
Nice strong sun, breezy, and chilly! :)
Spotted one of the deer yesterday afternoon. casually walking and munching in the wooded strip behind my house. DId a 'street view' of my location, and there is actually quite a bit of forested land near by. And a small lake/pond or three.

Maybe not today, but I do want to try the 'no yeast' bread from yesterday. I haven't made quick breads in ages. Time to trot out some old recipe ideas,? Right!!

Tom is beside me napping. He seems to be content with the dining room chair being next to my desk chair. Read an intersting article about how our pets are coping with everybody being home all the time. Some reported louder than normal cat noises...I'd noticed that with Tom several days ago. It wasn't just demanding meow's...but YELLED ones. Poor old guy. I think he's stressed by the past 6 months of Ted and Maya moving in, and now the past couple weeks of quarantine, I think its wearing on all of us. I was ready to snap Ted's head off yesterday, and for no good reason, except he got a jump on Saturday cleaning by mopping and running the sweeper before even started my wake up cup of coffee. Just a few minutes of peace??? Please...
I am, and tried to remind myself that I'd be struggling moving furniture and rugs, etc, and doing that job myself if Ted wasn't doing it...was time to be silent, and deeply grateful!!!

Today, not much on the agenda. I may try to get outside in the afternoon and kill off a few weeds. Pretty enough plant, spreads with underground rhizomes. that snap off if you try to pull them...nasty plant if they get away from you, as these have. So, I shall spray them very carefully on a NON windy day...and hope the only thing I kill is the plants.

Ted and Maya just left for their long walk, so ready or not, I'm heading for the bike. UGH.
    See you later...(after peddling)

Howdy all y'all. It's marvelous Monday! It is supposed to be sunny and warm today, so a walk is most probable. I don't know what else is on the agenda.

This morning's quarantine breakfast was fried bologna, cheese omelet, and steel cut oatmeal with blueberries and cream. I put the main meal on a paper plate so Lilo could lick the plate to make up for having to endure a subdermal fluid treatment this morning. Of course she got treats to make up for that too. She will be due back for bloodwork sometime next month to see how well that is working.

Well my tea mug is empty but there is still tea in the pot, so refill time!
