Howdy all y'all. It's marvelous Monday! Rain today will help keep it cooler. I just didn't feel like cooking last night so we ordered pizza, as that was all that sounded good to me. So...guess what I had for breakfast, and will be having for lunch today too?

And the laundry, while it IS clean, is still in the dryer. LOL.

Granny is making some more packaged foods, enhanced of course with additional stuff, as all such food should be. I suspect a lot of what she makes is donated. I know the people always seem glad to get whatever she makes, and it's nice that sometimes it is snacky stuff or even dessert, especially for the kids.

    Hi Ed!
Congrats...your laundry is clean and dry. That means you only have two more 'steps' to finish!! LOL! Wait, HUH? I haven't even started mine yet...oh, lazy meeee!

Today I have a mid-afternoon Dr. appointment. That 6 month one which is ok, Probably just a routine to get my scripts and I suspect an EKG. For some reason Medicare will not cover and EKG if its done on as part of my Annual Exam appointment! I know, crazy right? Also, I need to get a script for my tetanus shot. I got the rest of it, medicare covered, but for some idiot reason I have to go to the pharmacy for the tetanus part?????

So, laundry and Little Doc...and light rain for the day. I need to also be thinking ahead so I have some idea what dinner might look like! Lunch is still good, I made up a can of chickpeas..turned them into faux tuna salad! Yes, I did! Really doesn't taste much like tuna salad, but has the same sorta consistency, and is a good sandwich spread whatever it really is!
It has smashed chickpeas, pickle relish, green onion, mustard, Vegenaise, black salt (there's the tuna taste-ish element) finely chopped celery, and some black pepper. I have also discovered, after making this several times, that trying to smash canned chickpeas is NO FUN. So I dumped the lot into my blender, and used the 'ON' toggle to act like a food processor. That makes quick work of it, and does a much better job than I had been doing by hand. (I've tried using forks, potato masher, and a bean masher...all too much work, and not enough results!)

Ok, so there's this old lady's recipe of the week! LOL!!!

Time to start my laundry... and hit the shower. If I'm really good, and don't dawdle, I might be able to squeeze in a quick nap!!

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday! It's considerably cooler today, with 90% chance of rain. The high is expected to be only 77. That is expected to creep back up through Thursday and then begin falling a bit and then lurking in the mid to upper 80s for a while.

I got my laundry folded and put away yesterday. :)

    Good Morning Ed,
Good on you! You've finished what I am just beginning to do. Load one, in the washer!!

I made the mistake this morning of wandering onto the internet... now I have to play catch up all day. Raining here now, (again today) So I guess we can say 100% chance of rain!

I'm not sure I'll get to trying to make stovetop vegan corn bread today, but soon. I love cornbread and soups and stews and chilies, and it will be time for those things soon.

Now for the bad news...Little Doc was not very happy with me yesterday. Didn't like my labs, didn't like the EKG (back to the cardo doc), but after telling her how isolated the machine I use at the gym, she gave me a thumbs up for going to the gym....she stands alone with me on that. Wonder if she's trying to kill me off???? LOL!!!!

So, its time to turn on ALL of the lights in this house, which usually boosts my achievement mode, and hopefully I get some stuff done today! Besides being at the Doc's office, I 'ahem' started my weight loss battle by buying even more fruits and fresh vegetables from the grocery.. And I hope I have happy news when I see her next time.

Hope you have a great day, and a long and restful nap!!

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday! Damp and sticky out there now, but the lawn guys came anyway and did their thing. J has a doctor's appointment this morning, and I may have to drive if it looks to chancy for taking the motorcycle. J's car battery is flat and we haven't done anything about that yet, though we will need to soon.

    Good Morning Ed,
Damp indeed! And that first step outside from the house it smells 'musty' probably from all the pine straw or other mulches, ground covers, etc. Could use a break from the rain today!
So happy, got my laundry thru all the 'motions' including putting the folded, or hung on hangers yesterday! And this is just laundry for me...think about our mothers and all us kids, and the mountain of laundry they had to do.....gives me headaches to think about!

Watched the Soya Chunks that Granny cooked from a couple days ago on my way here this morning...I wonder if that is a 'version' of the 'soya curls' that the veggie folks rave about? I've not tried them, in fact I've never seen them in any of my grocery places. I tried TPN (?) the dried chunks of ??? and for awhile they tasted good to me. But as I learned to cook and think of ways to be vegan they lost their appeal.

Hope you have a good day. And that the weather holds for Jason.

I may make a gym run early afternoon. Missing 'my' cardio machine. And its weigh training day, which I do at home, but I can put that off most of the day!! Also on my list is to watch the video with the bitter melon. They just don't look good, and the name doesn't make me want to run out to our local international grocery and buy one either. BUT...ya never know, they might be really good! So, first off, will find out what granny does with them, and then if the kids eat them!

So, you scrape the spines off, cut them open and remove seeds, then stuff them with the veggie/spices mix. looked like the kids were scooping the stuffing out with their flat bread, but I didn't see any of them actually eating the Bitter Melon Gourd? Will have do look at a couple more recipe's. I see those once in awhile when shopping, but never bought any. The name "BITTER' was enough deterrent! LOL!
Have you ever eaten these? And what can you tell me about that??? :)

    Nearly time for lunch...

I have tasted a bitter melon curry at an Indian buffet and neither I nor Jason cared for it.

I was just planning to make chicken and noodles tonight, with maybe some peas and carrots thrown in. Easy peasy and a favorite dish.

But Eduardo had other ideas. The chicken turned into chicken tetrazzini instead, with no peas or carrots, but lots of extra mushrooms and a creamy homemade sauce!

Leftovers for at least 3 more meals too.

Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday! It's sticky out there, but not too hot as yet. It will be hot enough later today though. I need to get out for eggs and milk, at the least, and try to find some paper towels.

And...$145.85 later, I'm back home from my one stop at Ingle's. I kind of wanted to stop on the way home to get some stuff at Lidl, like the eggs, but decided to limit my exposure, sucked it up, and paid quite a bit more for eggs at Ingle's, along with everything else.

Then I spent way too much time pondering what the heck the "N/O HEALTHLI" was on my receipt, at $3.67, and finally realized it was the Nature's Own Healthy Life double fiber, low carb whole wheat bread. Sometimes the abbreviations on the receipts can totally boggle the mind. And didn't our own Georgia Jimmy Carter promise we would never pay $1 for a loaf of bread? Technically, I guess he was right as $3.67 is not $1.

I can make a Lidl run another time. I needed to get home to get my 2 hour after breakfast blood glucose reading anyway. It was fine so I gave myself a Zone Perfect fudge graham bar as a reward for getting the shopping done.

    Quick Good Morning,
I've spent too much time trying to run thru all the emails that had built up since yesterday evening....over 30 of them! (in 11 hours...) Time to start unsubscribing I think!!

Heading for the shower, and then to Pick up some packaged slaw mix, and something else,,,just not remembering what. Hopefully it will come to me while I'm at the gym.

I'm still not 'over it' with the CDC. I'm sure this probably is not the first time there has been some political wrangling...but this not testing for covid after a known exposure??? And the CDC admitted that 'it came from the top', meaning POTUS..
I did do some reading on the CDC about comorbidities. I was mostly interested as how Covid goes with T1D. And indeed, just like type 2, it is an issue. I figured it would be, but had not actually seen it mentioned.

The Hurricane (Laura) made quite a mess of things from what I saw on the news this morning. Glad my friend Marietta left the island and is weathering it out at her brother's home. I hope the sea wall held back whatever surge they had on Galveston Island. They bought a 'fixer upper' and had everything pretty much done before they arrived in TX. So I'd hate for them to have to repair/replace any of their home now. (just a year ago this August).

Want to have some 'real' fun with those grocery receipts? Go shopping in a Mexican grocery. I will say I've learned a few new words in Spanish trying to figure out what I'd just paid for. :)

Howdy all y'all. It's fantastic Friday! It's a bit warmer this morning, but still supposed to remain below 90 today, with a good chance of evening storms. I don't think I need to go anywhere today, so unless something comes up, I won't! I have one more serving of my chicken tetrazzini left, and that will be lunch today.

    Good Morning Ed,
Yesterday I earned my 'August Apple Watch' challenge, so that's off my plate til September!

I am planning a trip to Kroger for their Sparkling Water, and then on to Publix for a couple things they carry that Kroger doesn't sell... and after that and watching the noon news I foresee a nice nap! So as you can see, I will be quite busy today....LOL!!!

Yesterday I noticed 2 or 3 little clumps of Maya hair where she sleeps...so I got out the stick vacuum, and OMG...I filled the canister, once, twice, yep and a third time by the time I swept Maya's room and the place she prefers to sleep at night in my living room. I mean seriously, the Dyson stick vacuum doesn't have an overly large canister, but good grief. I'm not at all sure why the heavy shedding now. In the spring I get it, but winter's coming baby...you NEED all your hair!
And on top of that I spent about half hour earlier this week combing out the loose hair while still ON the dog. I was just amazed is all.

Will have to check in with Granny later today..big pan of 'maybe lentil soup'? and a pan of what looks like orange softballs?? batter up??? I do hope she made lentil soup. I dearly love it using any lentil I have...but the orange lentil soup I used to get when we all lived in ATL, and ate at a place on Ponce. Best lentil soup ever!!! And then they closed.. :( Since it was a Mediterranean restaurant owned and operated by some really nice Mediterranean guys who could COOK!!!
Ok, I gotta stop thinking about food.

    Good Morning Ed
Still trying to wake up, and I'd better get a hustle on it, nearly 9 a.m. and my 'cleaning partner' is up awake and lively.....ughhhh. :)
I think this may be a catch up day for watching video's. Not only here, but also ones I've saved from fb.
If I may ask..who is your phone carrier? Verizon is mine, and they just stepped on my last nerve. Not saying I'll actually switch, but certainly entertaining the idea.
And then there is the bank. Only the problem is me. About 10 days ago something, and I don't remember what, triggered me to change my pass word. And all of a sudden yesterday evening I couldn't remember 'Exactly' what it is. I have the bulk of it, but something is off...no entry. SO, guess I'll talk to the bank sometime today. I'd feel badly about forgetting, but I see for those of us who need password help, there is a special phone number!!! So, I suspect I do not stand alone here!!
I think for a bit of 'outdoor' activity today I'd like to pull a few weeds, and most definitely get rid of the 'mushrooms' that have decided to populate my back yard. Guessing the spores came along with the pine straw that Ted used this spring. I have no idea 'what' mushroom they are, so I'm putting a request out to the universe, that next time please send Morel spore!! I LOVE those mushrooms. Or maybe I also happen to remember my Mom's morels. They were ever so tasty. I know she soaked them in a salty water bath, and they had a coating of some sort, lite batter type, and then the old iron skillet came out, and some butter and the mushrooms were fried!!! Oh, good heavens...bliss!!

Ok, after that, I do need to get a move on! I'm sure any second now the 'cleaning shall commence! :) And when done I'll be so happy!!! LOL!

    Good Morning Ed,
Yep, the A/C is gonna get a workout today! I guess August has decided to make an impression on us before he falls headlong into September. (not that I expect the first 2 weeks of September to be much different than our last couple of weeks. (isn't that cheery?..)

Not much on my list today. I need to get a few things 'cooked' so I can spend a couple days just coasting along with reheating in the microwave. I do have one 'Good Eats' brand veg. burger that needs to be heated and eaten (it was tempting to say 'heated and eated' but I almost got over the urge. :) )
ANNND I want to watch Granny cook... curious what some of this is...what she's going to do to cook all those big heads of cabbage! I really like cabbage...so I hope to learn a new trick or something. and then there are the potatoes and that huge big pan of ??? and the last video of some kind of bread, maybe? Still thinking about the skillet cornbread. If I can get that to 'work' as a vegan cornbread I'll probably gain another 5 pounds. I love most anything corn, and cornbread is 'right up there near the top'!

So, there's my day....but there is a hockey game tonite. At 8 I think. Watched an afternoon game with Ted yesterday..Boston played Toronto and my Bruins got beaten. Not a good thing in the playoffs. So, either Philly steps up their game, or I'll be 'team-less' for the play finals!

Ok, off to see what Granny can do with cabbage..

Howdy all y'all. It's marvelous Monday!

Just a teensy bit cooler today, but very sticky out. We had a lot of noise from the thunder last night and some very heavy rain for a bit.

I need to fold and put away the laundry from yesterday.

    Good Morning Ed,
its 10 a.m. Monday morning, and here I sit still in my night gown, my only accomplishment being feeding the cat and making a cup of coffee.
I've been computer reading, and I have a lead on local beekeeper and a beekeepers club. Unlike all the rest of the 'Vegans' you may know, I DO sometimes use honey.
So that info is now part of a document, and can be put away.
Ted's left for work, and I have a long list of things I'd like to get done today. Some will end up being in part tomorrow's list as well no doubt.
Tomorrow is when I find out what the September Challenge is for my Apple Watch....I'm curious and a bit anxious too!

Yeah, last night was loud, and very wet. And Ted and i were trying to watch a hockey game. Over the air tends to break up and pixolate during storms, so for awhile it was um, interesting!

I will do laundry later this week, glad yours is almost done...Folding and putting away is about as 'exciting' as unloading the dishwasher!! LOL!

    Later...
Oh, I did watch a bunch of granny video's. It was painful just to think about chopping all those heads of cabbage, one at a time, with a fairly small knife, that appeared to need sharpening. Granny gets extra heaven points for doing all that work for the kids at the orphanage. I'm guessing that is her day long 'job' in her household.
