    Hi
I'm back home from walking and No Money found. The Temperature out the door was 67 degrees, humid, and Semi comfortable except for when the off and on drizzle was falling.

Long work day. We have another adoption event on Saturday. These pups are very adoptable. We found out that many attending Sundays event didn’t even know there were rescues inside the building so we didn’t get as much traffic as we might have. My ulcers hurt a whole bunch. I cannot tolerate the medication. Only other option is surgery. I’m terrified of another round if sepsis.
    Hi Val
Sorry to hear that You had another long day at work.
I have a suspicion that Your ulcers are making it harder to diet, and have proper nutrition. Do they also make You eat more as in food helps alleviate the pain.

Darn it what a shame that happened, Better luck this upcoming Sunday.

I would be worried about surgery too, Since You had Sepsis already I can see why Your are worried about it.

    Have a Good Day

    Good morning!

I love Lucky...I would adopt him in a heart beat..I am surprised he was not first to go!! Though usually I like the quiet shy ones. He looks too twinkly to be that!! <3 Of course, i would adopt them all!! :)

Sorry you are still feeling so poorly, Val! Hope you feel better soon. I would sympathize greatly about returning to the hospital after what you have been thru. Hopefully the next adoption will be better attended also!

Looks like N. Carolina will get rain they do not need. I think it will not move across the panhandle into N Fla. which would be better for the Florence victims. It sure is gaining momentum quickly... :(

We are on the western side, so far so good.

Jenny made me keto German potato salad out of cauliflower. I will send you all the recipe. It is fantastic and comes very close to real potato salad. Roger, you can add bacon, and Val, you can use veggie bacon. I think it will adapt to a regular salad also with eggs, celery, or whatever you put into it normally. So close!!! :p

What a week!! Still waiting to slow down some....Jan
    Hi Jan
So true the Carolinas do not need more rain. It is gaining strength too darn it. Hopefully You escape Michael entirely.

The Keto German potato sounds like a interesting dish, I love potato salad however it does not love me. . You could post it in a personal mail here or if it is on the internet a link would work. I am sort of interested in trying a Cauliflower Steak too.

The ShopRite had a coupon in the latest circular for a Perdue Roaster at $0.99 a pound. I have plenty of Breast meat in the refrigerator from the one my brother picked up Sunday and cooked Monday, Free as he only eats the dark meat. OTOH If I pick a Rotisserie Chicken up at CostCo we whack it up so it all works out OK.

I'm sorry that Your friends Dog is in poor shape. I'm not a fan of chihuahuas as they always seem to be noisy and Noise is the enemy as far as I am concerned.

What Breed of dog is suffering now ?

    Hi
I'm back home from walking and No Money found. The Temperature out the door was 73 degrees and uncomfortable due to the humidity. There is rain in forecast that is predicted to be in the 1 to 2 inch range with wind in the 30+ MPH.

I washed and dried my laundry yesterday. The new dryer seems easy enough to use. It does have what my brother calls a annoying hum, it did not bother me.

I’m going to take credit for my chihuahua. I adopted him at 1 year old...he was totally aggressive toward people. The “owners” had never touched him and refused to get near him. I cornered him, threw a towel over him and took him home. Within1/2 hour he was on my lap and letting me pet him. Em was only 4 years old, so it took about 3 days before he accepted her. After i had him about a year, he was happy to accept anyone i told him to. Now, he’ll accept anyone that first pets my other dogs. But there is a nature basis as well. Work going well again today.

    Good morning!!

It gets dark so early now. I can not believe the time change is in November! Fall has finally hit here!! We are in the 70's and will be in the 50's at nite!! Sunshine for about a week!! Everyone is so excited!!Keep missing the news...only time I miss cable!! I forget to look at 5 pm on my CBS access, or I am tied up....oh well!

My friends dog had a spell again.. doing good, then on a check, they could not rouse her. With in the time they called my friend and she was fixing to leave work, she rallied again.. Her BS is not it..not sure it is seizures..just do not know. Her electrolytes are out of whack..Not good when the vets are puzzled..They are doing an ultra sound possibly. maybe the lytes are causing an arrhythmia..I am guessing... :|

I think you train your doggies better than I do, val! You are certainly more fearless!! I was so proud of May. I got her to hop on my bed. LOL other people train their dogs off the couch and bed..I am trying to train her on!! :D

The awaited recipe: We loved it!

    Grandma's "German " potato salad

    16 oz frozen cauliflower
4 slices bacon (or more, lol) cook crisp and chopped
    1/4 cup sour cream
    1/4 cup mayo
    2 green onions chopped fine
2 Tablespoons fresh parsley chopped fine
1 Tablespoon dill pickle juice ( like Clausen's)
    Salt and pepper to taste

Cook cauliflower till tender. (Jenny cooked hers like 6-7 min. so not mushy- like your potatoes for salad.)
Drain well. Chop in small bite size pieces, between a dime and quarter size. In med. bowl mix sour cream, mayo, onions, parsley, pickle juice. Stir in cauliflower till well mixed. Add bacon, and salt and pepper to taste. Serve warm, cold, or room temperature. If you heat it later, warm in microwave on low. Do not let it boil.

    6 servings at 132 cal. serv. 12 g fat, 3 g protein, 5g carbs, 2 g fiber, 3g net carbs.

This was good leftover the next day. The cauliflower smell was stronger, but it still tasted the closest to potatoes I have had for keto.

Recipe is good with red potatoes too for potato eaters!

We are going to try a reg. version with celery, onion, and lots of egg for a reg. "Potato" salad and see what happens..:)

Love the little fox story!! ...Jan B)

Humor shall be posted shortly, the humor is preceded by a historical fact in two images

    Hi
I'm back home from walking and No Money found. The Temperature out the door was 62 degrees and comfortable due to the low humidity and breeze.
There was rain overnight, I had heard it hitting the bedroom AC around 3AM and with the breeze things were drying out by 5AM. I did see three come out of a driveway and go trotting down the street on a street where I had not sen them before.

They do not sound as if they should have been pet owners, pets take a bit of work and if You do not want to do the work, don't have a pet.

New York City is a cruel place, Bump into someone on the subway and they may slash you for that, Argue and You might get slashed or shot :(
Then this one made me shake my head. What's wrong with people, is it the overcrowding or the way they were raised ?

I'm sorry to hear that and even sorrier that the vets are puzzled, Not good. I suspect Your guess that it is the electrolytes is correct as that is the only thing out of whack. Do they do catscans or MRIs on dogs, thst might be revealing ?

TBH in many cases You can pretty well guess at the content on CBS, NBC, and ABC.

The Pickle juice is what gives it that tang that I remember from German potato Salad I suspect. Being somewhat lazy I would likely just use the Pre Cooked Bacon from the Grocery Store

I would expect it to work with Red Potatoes naturally, I'm not sure how well it will adapt to being a regular potato salad.
Around here when You say Potato salad there is no hard boiled Egg, that goes into a variant of potato salad that costs more. Then there is also Egg Salad with no Potatoes at all. I generally make my egg salad with Miracle whip and No sugar added zero calorie Sweet relish and nothing else and put it on bread as a sandwich filling

You are indeed going against the norm training Your dog to jump up on the bed

    Hi!

Glad you had a good day at work!! You are way do for several!! So sorry about your friends dog..they are family and it hurts accordingly. Sometimes worse...maybe she will fall in love with Lucky...though it is too soon..even if she would get another dog. :(

Just a dumb day.. accomplished nothing. Finally had the time and energy to wrap my Christmas box to Honduras...late..went up there and everyone had gone home early for Friday..Rotten drive with rotten drivers..I will have to take it to church on Sunday along with my guest lunch. It is an extra trip to the opposite side of the building, so not looking forward to all that lugging..never got to do some cleaning or bills. I did however go out with Jenny to Longhorn for some really good prime rib, salad, and broccoli. I asked for a little butter on the side, and got a melted herb butter to dip my broccoli in. Oh yum!! I am liking this diet, Over ate though, and I should have asked for a to go box. I really can not eat as much anymore. Pretty sure I will not eat again till after noon on Sat. I was holiday stuffed.

Have a good week end! ...Jan B)

I'm back home from walking and No Money found. The Temperature out the door was 52 degrees and comfortable due to the low humidity and breeze. I did of course put on a long sleeve shirt and light gloves.

Thursday I tried the Moo Shu Beef as it was listed on websites as one of the low carb Chinese Dishes. Tasty and the four thin pancakes looked and when I sampled one tasted like a flour Tortilla. Where I blew it was by forgetting to tell them hold the rice. Since I had the rice I ate it :(

Good day at work. Sad day for my dog-rescue friend...had to put down her 14 year old dog. Continual seizures and unable to stand. Taking Lucky to another adoption event tomorrow. I’m really in love with the little dude. He needs to find an awesome home.
    Hi Val

Have a good week end! ...Jan B)
    Hi Jan
Have You ever thought of getting a easy to use foldable rolling device to make moving things easy ?

I did get two meals out of the Moo Shu Beef, of course that was because I overate by eating the Rice that came with it, I tried heating the Thin pancakes and putting some of the Moo Shu in them, That worked too, however most of the four went into the garbage as they tasted flour based.

I have seen people put butter on a hot steak and I bet that is tasty too. Broccoli dipped in a butter sauce made with real butter and not the so called butter sauce that they use in frozen foods.

That is a new phrase to me, Holiday Stuffed

    Have a Good Day

Exhausted from the adoption event. It was at Coldwell Banker realty. They were wonderful and welcoming and had collected dog-item donations for us. Few non-realtors were there, so no adoptions, but it was fun and we met nice people. The weather started with rain sovwe were inside. Then cleared up so we moved outside. Then rain and wind alternating with sun. I fall in love with every dog or pup i foster! I cry when they leave but I don’t let the knowledge of the pain sway me from loving them. Maggie has 5 dogs and 2 cats if ger own plus 3 foster dogs. Although her heart couylofe Lucky forever, 8 is enough. 🤣

    I just posted more Humor

    Hi
I'm back home from walking and No Money found. The Temperature out the door was 41 degrees and semi comfortable due to the low temperature. I switched to long walking pants and a sweatshirt from the walking shorts and long sleeve shirt.

Up to this morning I have been able in general to avoid running the AC and have not run the furnace since last spring except for a few seconds earlier in Late September to be sure it lit off when needed.
I turned on the heat before leaving the house for my walk to take the chill off of the house as it was 61 degrees.

To bad that there were no adoptions, A darn shame.

I do not like off and on rain, I hope at least the temperature was nice.

You could not keep all of them. That would be just to much.

    Good morning!

I had caffeine this morning..still not moving too fast! :#

Pretty tired from an incredibly long Sunday. Good, but tiring! I have stayed on my keto diet with a minimum of trouble. I was happy about that!! I was so busy I had not actually written down my foods since Thursday. I did not even realize. I have stayed below on all my points, but am back to day 1 again, lol... :*

Sorry no adoptions but still sounds like a good day. The right person will come along. Val, I bet you are tired!! <3

Roger, In the 40's, wow. I laughed as we had some 70 degree weather, and in the shade it seemed chilly- but so wonderful!! We are a little warmer again in the 80's for a few days. Mid Oct is a little early for snow. It will be an interesting winter!!

So much to do, I do not know where to begin. Having lunch, I feel I should nap, lol!!

So much for my burst of energy!!

Great keto lunch. I had a pork steak with breading made from almond flour, seasoning, and dipped in egg, then crumbs. It made a wonderful substitute for flour breading. I can add Parmesan cheese to it also, but I did not have any on hand. Also had cauliflower mashed potatoes with the ricotta cheese. Comfort food at it's best! Just have to watch my carbs for the rest of the day, as I used 1/2 my allowance already.

Interesting articles! Really related to the retired in poverty one. Really feeling the pinch this year of raising gas prices, food prices and health care...Discouraging...

Keep on trucking on the weight loss all!! Have a good day!! ...Jan

While I was out I saw one deer leaving a side street on the outbound and then on the homeward leg I saw four more heading back to where they spend the daytime. To many deer around, We need to come up with a way to fence off the driveway that is easily moved out of the way.

35 state attorneys general tell FCC to pull the plug on robocalls.
Last year, the FCC released the 2017 Call Blocking Order, which included rules allowing providers to block spoofed calls – as in, calls that pretend to come from consumers’ phones or, even more sneaky, from neighbors’ phones, with area codes that mirror their targets’ area codes. The order allowed providers to block calls from numbers on do-not-originate lists and from numbers that are invalid, unallocated, or unused.
But despite the Call Blocking Order, the robocall problem is only getting worse.
