    Hi
I'm back from walking and found 1 cent. The Temperature out the door was 64 degrees. It is a nice enough day outside with a misty haze in the air.

Monday was overcast and rain free, Today it is misty outdoors with low hanging clouds. No real rain in the forecast for until Thursday where the forecasts show 5 days with some rain being shown.

    Good morning!

All is quiet here on the southern front. We are expecting rains in mid afternoon. Yesterday was so busy I just read the column and never got back to track my food till this morning. Just the usual, church and small group. On the other hand it was a pleasant surprise that I was only over my calories by a few, and so have done better than usual.I am having ribs today, have not had them in a while. And veggies. Skipped the potato or macaroni products for the holiday as I have had far too many carbs lately. I did pick up a few bags of frozen soup veggies They were very good and varied, and I used them to create a broth - hence veggie soup for when I was hungry. That has worked nicely...

Val, glad you were able to get out and do some things you enjoyed!! :)

The flooding in Md. I think it was, sure caught my attention in the news. You do not see that every day. I did not realize the area had that much rain...The chicken chlorine story was interesting and yucky. And frustrating. I do not consider the FDA to be a greatly run success. I love how rather than improve and take great hints from other countries, we just listen to the industry at fault and let them do as they like. The FDA has a dismal record of inspections and also of promoting animal humane care. GRRR.. Actually, their drug policies make me rather skeptic also... :s
    Hi Jan
Good idea skipping the carbs
I like that idea about buying bags of soup vegetables, If I can remember that next time I get into a grocery store I think I will steal that idea.

I did not do well yesterday, My Brother had bought a large round Italian bread with a hole in the center. He thought I would like it to use as the bun for the hamburgers I had planned to Grill. I had planned to use the 40 calorie per slice bread. Temptation set in and the bread was tasty when buttered even with no burger in it :(
I took the Package of $1.99 a pound Hamburger and grilled them on the small grill that I set up on the picnic table. The Gas tank I hooked up lit and by the time I got back had run dry, oops, Thankfully we had a spare. I ended up with 10 Burgers and ate too many of them, The rest are in the refrigerator for use during the week as protein with my meals. Today I will be using the last medium egg in a mid morning snack as egg salad using lite mayo and zero calorie sweet relish on two slices of 40 calorie bread.

The good thing in the Chicken story was that fully cooked it is safe, The danger comes from cross contamination so care is needed. I watch cooking contest shows and the judges will not eat under-cooked chicken.

They showed the flooding on the news here too. Not good, if I lived there and could get out of town I would, it may not be possible for all.
Guess I will run out and buy some gum to walk with! ... Roger, this is a great project for you, and you are in the favored category, being a male who walks faithfully. I challenge you to see if it helps!! :#

I would not like the noise or strange hordes of extra people running thru my neighborhood if it was previously quiet. Nowadays it is hard to not be suspicious if people have an opportunity to check out your property, and you have no idea what kind of person they might be. Most people are fairly nice, but you just never know... :*

Got a chuckle out of you Roger thinking Val would be walking a seizure dog...because my mind went there at first too thinking " Little B" had a problem. That is what happens when our eyeballs register ahead in a story I guess!! Glad it was not that seizing!! ;)

Hope you all had a great holiday, and a thankful one! Take care!! ...Jan
The trick is to buy zero calorie gum

part of the problem with lots of people is that muggers look for easy prey such as older people that can not fight back.

I thought I was the only one whose mind went to that happening with Val

I saw that the storm track was being shown as east of Mobile, That does not mean that the winds and rain will avoid Alabama.
Today is not a great looking day so far and it is supposed to get into the 80s which will likely not be comfortable due to it feeling humid.

Later today or tomorrow a trip to Lowes is planned to buy 10 bags of mulch which is on sale until the 30th at a decent price of 5 for $10.

If I exclude the overeating then the Holiday was good, We got to see the towns Memorial Day Parade that took place during the holiday.

    Have a Nice Day

    good morning,

Val, I am speechless. That is the dumbest thing I ever heard. (Your boss). I was in mortal fear to read as you have had plenty of bad days with this company. You sure deserve to work in a much better place....It is hard to respect someone so unprofessional, and as in Sara's case, so careless and lazy...I am sorry.... :( This place is really taking a physical toll. I wish there was something else available to you...

So tired of the rain, and walking May in it. It still comes in waves, but we are saturated. I lost 2 trees next to my house. One was a pine tree I raised from about 6 inches, split in half. It took down part of another, and I am hoping there was no bird's nest in it. I think it is a few trees over, but can not see that well. At least it did not hit the house. Looks like a job for my son and his chainsaw...

I get to go to the doctor Weds or Thurs for refills. Oh joy! :D

May can go for x rays this week. I hope all is healing well. I cannot fit a time, so I will get them as I can... :*

Glad your holiday was great, Roger! I am craving macaroni salad however!! :# Feel free to steal the soup idea!

Val, hope tests go well. Poor pups. I hate abuse, wish the penalties were stronger than they are...

    Hi
I'm back from walking and found 1 cent. The Temperature out the door was 69 degrees. It is a nice enough day outside with a overcast sky. There is rain in the forecast later today.

Yesterday was hot for May with parts of NJ in the low 90s.

We had two (Three) power outages last night, The first 10:58 the second and third around midnight. That contributed to my posting late today :(

    Hi Val
How can anyone think that being carefree is more important than quality :(

What I did when I heard that my last job was going away at some indeterminate point in time was work at paying off the balances on credit cards and also building as much of a cash reserve as I could. I also applied for Social Security towards the end so it would be there. Between that and unemployment I was not as worried as I am sure You are from the sound of it.

    Good Luck

    Hi
I'm back from walking and found no cents. The Temperature out the door was 62 degrees. It is a nice enough day outside with a misty haze in the air that has turned to a light rain around the time I arrived home.

I managed to get two decorative pots planted with Marigolds and Begonias to decorate the front step. I left them where I filled them with the Garden soil and plants on the picnic table until the rain waters them in.

We did another run to Lowes yesterday since it was the last day of the sale and bought 6 more bags of mulch and 4 bags of Topsoil. The Much is all placed and I used some of the first bag of top soil to plant the pots of flowers.

Hi. My QVC NS box arrived last night...I’ve been 100% compliant today. I had a two hour chat with HR. She asked what i wanted from the conversation and I said I just need someone to know what’s going on. I haven’t figured out any solution. She was super nice. Unrelated (since it takes months to get paperwork approved), an hour later i got a letter for a merit raise. Next Wednesday i get an abdominal ultrasound. I started planning my vacation....granted it’s not everyone’s thing, but i want to take Em and a couple friends on a 2-week driving trip stopping at three national parks and six to eight universities....plus a beach day, an amusement park day, and two evenings visiting friends I haven’t seen in 25 to 35 years. We’ll see if it comes together. But it felt good planning it.

I tended to not really plan any trips on my vacations. I liked a driving vacation in a more or less planned direction and then go anywhere that caught my eye while I was driving. You can see a lot of smaller but nice attractions that You never thought of.
That is how I saw the Battleship Alabama. I was in Orlando and the weather was really bad around here the one winter vacation. Work was more than happy to let me extend my vacation as a result so Worked my way north along the west side of of Florida and then out the through the Panhandle stopping off in New Orleans, The Alamo and Carlsbad Caverns and more.

    Enjoy the upcoming vacation

Hi. Roger- i need to get back to a routine of walking! I’m hitting 5k step pretty consistently and hitting 10k steps on weekends. But it’s hit and miss. So, I emailed a former boss to ask if she’d provide a reference if i need to get another job. She responded “of couse” and said she had a job opening if i want it...and i can continue working from home 100%. Wow! I was not expecting that. Im beyond flattered. Im researching her company. I’ve been with current for 12 years. It is a part of me. But I have huge heartburn working for someone that doesn’t care if you lie, doesn’t care if you falsified timesheets, and doesn’t value quality work. Integrity and quality are my middle names...and I have no interest in changing those. Lots to think about.

    Hi to all!

Val, glad you are doing so well! Vacation sounds pretty neat! What a fabulous job offer! Kind of hope it pans out! Hard to make those life altering decisions isn't it?

I am doing terrible at the moment. Just seems to be a backlash from when I was doing good. Seems the bad lasts longer than my good times. That is not good! It is in the nineties and so is the humidity. It feels awful, especially when I am out so many times with May. It is also buggie! They are everywhere...

Sounds like you are working hard with the walking and the flower planting, Roger. Are you doing your garden again?

Do not work too hard, all, and have a great week=end! :) Jan

Jan, I’m sorry that you’re having a bad time. I hope things improve. The heat and humidity make going for a walk unbearable. I emailed a second former boss and he said to send him my resume so ge could present it to his management . They don’t have an opening but he wants to try to make one for me. Especially when my current boss is so negative, it is nice to know that those who know me would fight to have me. I’m still having self-doubt...can I succeed in a new environment / new job? I’m scared to stay and scared to leave. One advantage of the timing is that because school is out, i can readily travel for training and to meet new colleagues. I need to update my resume! Hope you all have a nice Saturday!

    Hi
I'm back from walking and found no cents. The Temperature out the door was 71 degrees. It is a humid day thus I worked up a sweat. I did see a Fox on my outbound leg after picking up my coffee.

It was warm yesterday, a fair amount above the normal temperatures for this time of year. Yesterday and today are both humid too. Our chance of rain for yesterday and today has already hit 100%. We had rain and Thunder roll in around 11:30 PM and last for a Hour Plus. I do need to Mow, however with the humidity I think I will wait for tomorrow.

    Hi Val
5K is a good start considering that You are also working those days.

There are a lot of benefits to working at home, not the least is the saving on wear and tear on the car and much lower fuel costs.

The only thing I would worry about is if it impacts medical coverage or pension. As far as I know if you have a company provided pension plan You are vested and it is safe.

A working environment such as You have since the change in bosses would be way to stressful for me and I would likely be out of there if I had a alternate place to work. The one thing that would help would be if You could become the Boss and not the worker.

I did have a resume and only used it once to get a job, That would be the last job where I worked for 16 years until the location closed for good.

I agree it can be hard, I only left my last job when it went away and the same for my previous job where I worked for 14 years when it moved out of state. I believe You can succeed whatever You decide.

:) Jan
    Hi Jan
I am working on being 100% and so far it is OK for the last few days, maybe tomorrow I will even climb on the scale

Last night's weather forecast indicate that the humidity was Tropical, not good.
Bugs, I hate them, I had some sort of bug flying around my head while walking and buzzing in my ears over the sounds from the Audio-book I was listening too.

I am taking today off from doing anything in the yard, Tomorrow I need to replant the Gladiolus Corm-lets that sprouted. Six of are sprouted in the small pots I put them in just in case and The smaller ones did not sprout so that is working out OK. I expect that properly handled the ones that sprouted will be large enough to bloom next year and that the ones left from last year will produce more Corm-lets.

Better Days are just around the corner.

    Good morning!

Roger posted a lot of good insights about work, Val. I too agree that with your skills and attitudes, anyone else would be thrilled to have you! I would sure explore these opportunities if the insurance and pension pans out. Do not be afraid of change. We all deal with it...it is the one constant in an ever changing environment! Irony!

We are hot and tropical too. I was attacked by a moth in my house last nite. The last thing you want is to feel something is crawling on you. It did and it just gives me the creeps. I never saw it come in, but walking May so often, especially at night can be quite creepy! Geez.... :D

She gets x-rays Tuesday. Hopefully all is fine!

I never had too much success frying bread in a skillet, or biscuits. Seems I would end up with burnt outsides and raw or pasty insides, no matter how I tried it, even with lower heat.... :# Sounds good though. bread can be my downfall. I love it! Trying for a little more healthful day. I have to recycle big time today. Just hate getting out! :#

Interesting articles! Love the ones you find!

Waiting for some cooler air and lower humidity due Sunday nite. It will hand around a day or two, then go back to hot and humid! Who would think N.J. to have our weather, lol! :)

Take care all! (Tuesday is week #7 for May's surgery. If nothing wrong, an end in sight in just 2=3 weeks!!) Yay!!! Jan
