    Hi
I was out the door before 8 as the forecast of snow was more or less a non starter in my area. There was a little on the parked cars in the driveways and street and in the grass of the lawns. The sidewalks and street were a little wet but that was it. It was 33 degrees outside but with no wind it was not a bad walk.

    Have a Good Week

    Hi
7.6K steps so far for the day. It was 31 degrees this morning, hard to believe it is supposed to be 60 as a high. The Sun is shining and there was nearly no breeze so it was a nice walk.

Nothing much planned for later on today. Currently as I type this I am converting some Phonograph records into Digital format on the computer and plan to see what ones I want to do next. Also I can capture some videos into the other computer at the same time :) Currently capturing is a Petula Clark record, Maybe I will dig out the Old Time Radio Show records I bought years ago and capture them next to listen to when I walk, Or maybe the Glenn Miller Albums. Hard to decide, It may come down to what I dig out of the basement first.

    Have a Good Day

    Hi
I stopped at the Post office to mail a letter on my walk + 1 cent. When I was Younger there were Mail boxes all over the place, No more.

The weather was nice and tomorrow promises to be somewhat better too. I think I'll go get my haircut tomorrow, That is the date the note on the door said he would be back from vacation.

    Enjoy The Day

    Hi
I was successful getting my haircut today. I walked to the Barbershop in the next town and back 11.8K steps , got my haircut, then went into the dinner on the corner for two eggs, A fruit cup in place of the Potatoes and a few bites of dry Rye toast and a Large Coffee for the walk back :)

A nice looking day outside, A little breeze in my face on the walk back but tolerable in my Hoodie. I listened to one of the records I captured a couple of days back while I was walking. A Petula Clark singing in French called 23 Chansons Celebres De Paris which I think translates as 23 songs Celebrating Paris.

    Have a Good Thursday

    Hi
I got out walking today early due to the rain in the forecast for this morning. It is gloomy outside and when I left I could see water drops on the cars and wet spots on the street, However I am now home and I had no rain fall on me. Probably because I was ready for it with a Rain jacket and Umbrella. They stayed in my Pocket unneeded :)

Breakfast in a hour, Wheat Flakes, 1% UHT milk, The last of my NS Strawberry Protein shake :(

Currently recording a Ste of Fibber McGee & Molly Christmas Album from 78s

    Hi
One more day until Easter Sunday. 20 degrees colder today than Friday, Still tolerable however. I could even feel the Suns heat on my back when I was walking away from it.

Yesterdays 78RPM records to Computer captures went OK. I had some test pressings and recordings from Recording studios in NYC and Hollywood that were interesting. Today I am looking at doing some more 78s, mainly old humor types that I picked up years ago on a whim.

    Have a Great Saturday

    Hi
I did go out walking in the rain, No Singing in the rain however. I did put on full rain gear. I ended up overdressed towards the end of the walk with the Hoodie under the rain jacket. I did get Damp inside the shoes.

Yesterday We got the 10 Raspberry plants, the Blackberry plant, The Three Columnar Apple trees, and three of the four bundles of the various types of Onions planted. We were both tired by the time we were finished doing the digging and planting. Watered them in and now with today's rain they should be good for a couple of days with no watering needed :) The rain in the forecast is why the push to get them in the ground on Sunday.

Sounds like you had a good Easter, Rodger! It was grey and drizzly here, but warm. You never said what you all made for Easter dinner! I went non traditional, with a shrimp cocktail, salmon, and crab cake. Almost all healthy! Shrimp were on sale and huge and good!!

The week my daughter and I went to Atlanta, t he weather was wonderful! We had a room at a hotel right next to the Aquarium, which was fabulous to visit and see giant whales and huge manta's in some of the hugest aquariums I have ever seen! You had to walk a good deal just to get around one, and you could walk underneath and see the fish et al from underneath! Beyond cool! They looked happy even if confined somewhat which was nice. My daughter "made" me go on the city eye in the sky ferris wheel, which was 200 feet up. I could have killed her, I do not like heights anymore! I was fine the first 100 feet. That shows you how silly our minds can be, as if we fell, I would be just as flat falling 100 feet as 200 feet, lol!

I only gained 2 lbs. I am sure due to the walking! We went to a German restaurant the first night, a 24 hour cafe the second, and found a great cafe for morning coffee and fare. We walked about 4-5 miles a day! Jenny had bought me a cane, thank goodness, as it was hilly in the Atlanta area. Who knew? We also hit the botanical gardens, which were lovely. The trees were blooming, yet still a little early. We ate at the garden cafe, which used herbs from their greenhouse. A nice few days, but I am sore now!!!

I did find something to help my shoulder. It hurts like yours, with limited range, about shoulder height. My daughter mixed peppermint essential oil (think menthol) -therapeutic grade, with a lotion base. She usually had almond lotion, but we just used the hotel lotion which had marine biologics. This rubbed in, has given me the only relief I have had. It was better than Ben-gay, lidocaine or capsacian. She just rolled her eyes at me as she has been after me to try essential oils. It was quite healing. Of course I hurt it again mowing. My appt is on Friday, I will let you know!!

Planting sounds fun that you are doing, you will certainly reap the benefits! Don't work too hard!! I like your food reviews!! It is a help!

Also, I would like a pedometer, fitbit or something. Not too technical. Suggestions?
    Gee- I wrote a novel! :# Jan

    Hi
    Another Day, another walk :)
7500+ Steps and 15 Cents today, Whee....
The Weather is clear and just above freezing so I wore a sweatshirt & over that a Hoodie. Walking I am listening to a old time radio shows. Intro to the show goes

There he goes, into that drug store. He's stepping on the scale.
    Weight, two hundred thirty-nine pounds.
    Fortune ... danger.
    Whoooooooooo is it?
    The Fat Man.

    Have a great Wednesday
    Roger

P.S. I'm back now, we ran down to a store that has been sold and the people we both knew are leaving and Said Goodbye. We will have to decide if the new owner is worth dealing with.

    Hi Jan
We had a simple meal at Mid Day, Boiled then baked Ham, Mashed potatoes and Home Made Ham Gravy. I added an Apple. Then for Dinner I Took a 60 calorie per wrap smeared it with Lite Mayo, Took pieces of the ham sliced across the grain so it more or less fell apart added a slice of Velveeta Cheese 40 calories per slice, sliced it in half and placed it over the Ham then added some Lettuce, Delicious if not on plan. More or less a Ham And Cheese sandwich on a wrap. Then a small apple and a Clementine and the rest of the 1/3 head of lettuce :)

Your Trip to Atlanta sounds like fun, FWIW I do not think I would like to be 200 foot up in the air on a Ferris Wheel either.

How nice that You found something that helps the shoulder. I saw something like it described on a TV show as an alibi for murder, Sadly I forgot to write down what they called it but it fit the bill exactly for what has happened with my shoulder.

I use a simple Fitbit Zip for a couple of reasons. One it uses a replaceable battery that is good for several months, it is small. It can be clipped to the waistband or You can do what I do which is put in in Your Pocket where it works quite well. It only monitors steps, activity level and calculates calories burned and distance walked. I did not want something that needed recharging :)

I'll be putting a couple more food reviews up today, Enjoy

Rainy today. I am supposed to go to a concert tonite. Leave it to me to pick the day of heavy rains and severe weather! Hopefully I can see to drive. Your music sounds wonderful to walk to, Rodger. You picked some choice music! I have not listened to the old radio shows, I will have to check that out.

Thanks for the Fitbit info, maybe I need to see what I am doing to reinforce good habits! I really appreciate those food reviews!

I need to do one of my walking tapes today. I sure felt better than I thought after all the yard work, I was not too sore, it actually felt good. I need to keep it up while i am on a roll!!

    Enjoy the day!!

    Hi
Once again I was walking then home for breakfast and out again to CostCo for Frozen vegetables, 2 Normandy Mix and once French Green beans, 18 Pack of Light & Fit Greek, Pink Lady Apples, I thought I was grabbing the Honey Crisp, A Customer must have moved them :) they are OK too, and a Bag of Clementines. 9200+ Steps so far.

The weather is great today, I made the mistake of overdressing for the temperature so I was feeling a little overheated by the time I got home. I picked up a free cup of Dunkin Donut coffee as I had received a email notice that the coupon was about to expire.

I just started copying a Record Album featuring 180 old time radio themes into the computer.

    Have a Good Thursday

Thanks for the links, especially for the old radio shows! I can't wait to listen! Sounds like you had a really good day, and found lots of change, too! That is a hoot!!

I had my doctor's appt. The x-rays did not show a tear in my shoulder, but I am going for an MRI on Monday. He thinks I have torn my rotator cuff, but is not sure. If I have, he recommends surgery. If not, then he recommends PT and possibly scraping my shoulder if the PT doesn't take care of it. That would be to get rid of bone spurs. I do show lots of arthritis. I have a bad feeling I may need the surgery, because I feel the pain would be gone by now. I does not feel like arthritis. We shall see!

It is a glorious day, getting warm and sunny. I show over 10 inches of rain from the last few days as a system passed through. I am glad the mowing got done, now I can wait for a few days and hopefully finish.

I have lost some more pounds, so I am kind of psyched! I had spaghetti last night and used spaghetti squash for the noodles. Of course , picking up my Lasix from the pharmacy did not hurt!! I had some diced steamed eggplant instead of meat in my sauce. It was really good! Thanks for the new dinner notices! Glad you dressed for the rain. You all sure have some changeable weather there!! Have a good week-end!! Jan B)

    Hi
It is really windy today, Wind Chill is somewhat bitter too, I wore my ersatz wind breaker the Lightweight rain jacket:) When walking into the Wind it slowed me to a crawl until it would drop off for a minute or two. I think I missed some money too, That's my guess when I saw someone ahead of me bend down and pick something up off of the sidewalk, Oh Well. 8300+ Steps today.

Currently I am converting some video soundtracks into MP3s to load into the iPod and will be adding some movie soundtracks and 78 RPM records I captured into the computer to the iPod too.

    Have a Really Good Sunday

    Hi Jan
    Congratulations on the loss.

I agree on the weather, we gave a saying, Don't Like the Weather - Wait it'll change. We can start out the day with rain, segue into Bright Sun and then More rain all in the same day. Last Night a little after Midnight I heard Thunder, That might be what woke me up at that time.

I Hope it is not surgery OTOH whatever works to cure the pain.

That is something I need to try one of these days, Spaghetti Squash :)

    Have a Good Day

    Hi Val
Forgive me if I am being forgetful, Dog Attack? Yikes, That is one thing I do have some fear of when walking along with bad drivers of course.

What is the prognosis for walking, do You have to work up to it gradually? I do remember You were jogging and doing a much better distance than I do even now when I go for a walk.

Doing anything on the Internet via a phone would be tough for me as the bigger the screen the better I like it. Not to mention that my flip phone doesn't do Internet or Apps.

Good Luck Walking & Jogging in the very near future

Hi Roger. Feb 20 loose Doberman was running towards Oscar and me. His owners did nothing to catch or call or distract him...yet the yelled to me 6 houses away... That the dog was totally friendly and just wants to say hi. I put Oscar in a down-stay behind me and tried to catch their dog. It would not come to ne but circled around and mauled Oscar. Oscar didn't fight back but screamed in pain as that dig bit and bit and bit him. I had to stop it. I was alone (owners hadn't even left their yard...so i threw my body between the dogs and wrapped myself around my baby. In the process i hurt my hip and shoulder. Fir one month i used a walker and was zero weight bearing on left leg. Doc says i can resume walking ...NO jogging. Had severe hip pain Fri and Sat, but was ok today so walked Oscar. Same scenario today except thus time Doberman was on a leash. So, i kept walking around the loop...across the street from them. She sqatted next the her dog and pointed at us. I pulled my bat out from my backpack and said "fooled me once, but im ready for you this time." She called the police! They did not stop me or ask me anything...they just kept following me as i went home, swapped dogs, did my second lap, swapped dogs again and started my third lap.i wish i had the money to move. Two psycho neighbors is ridiculous!

    Hi! Roger and Val!

It is so good to see these posts! I have missed everyone!

Roger, the only really good apples we get down here are the Pink Ladies. I am trying to eat more fruits and vegetables! I will probably stop losing so fast soon, as I just put back on this weight! But I will take anything!!

Val, I am glad you are not hurt more than you were. Bless you for protecting Oscar as well as you did. Fights happen so quickly that reacting well is challenging! Bless his heart, I just can not stand when the babies get hurt!! Especially when he has been thru so much. You have done remarkably well as it sounds like you were hurt pretty bad. I will say some prayers for healing! The peppermint essential oil (therapeutic grade) has helped my shoulder pain, I had greater success mixing it with a lotion with marine biotics than almond oil- but it helped. I have been in pain since the exam- go figure!
I wish my Sicilian relatives were still available- lol! I would take out your neighbors for you! :) But seriously, you do live by some real winners! I wish you could move!! Keep up the hard work and perseverance! And give yourself time!!

You guys are inspiration!!!! Love you all!!! Jan <3

    Hi
I made my banks run today , Walk actually 8.6K steps worth. It started a light rain part way into it and when I left the bank I ended up putting up the Umbrella. Today's weather is off and on rain and moderately cool, It was in the 30s when I left the house :)

I am sitting here burning a couple of DVDs that I created from Video Captures, And Currently I am putting Windows XP on a old Pentium 4 laptop, I tried loading Windows 10 onto it and it just kept cycling and never partitioned the drive or anything useful. I will try again from within Windows XP and see how that goes. I plan to give to a computerless person and want a windows version that is still getting security updates and not long discontinued like XP. Wish Me luck

Nothing else much going on today.

    Have a Great Monday

They did not stop me or ask me anything...they just kept following me as i went home, swapped dogs, did my second lap, swapped dogs again and started my third lap.i wish i had the money to move. Two psycho neighbors is ridiculous!

    Hi Valerie
I seem to remember something like that in a post on the old NS forums too. That person started carrying a walking stick to use if it ever happened again. In Your case get and can You use pepper spray where You are? I suspect a spraying with pepper spray in the face would prevent that from happening again. Did You call the police and/or go after psycho neighbor for vet bills and medical expenses? Hopefully so.

There are neighbors from he** out there and the trick is finding out before hand.

Good Luck in the future, I Might change my walking path if that happened to me too.

Jan <3

    Hi Jan
I do like the Fuji and Gala Apples too, The trick with those is getting them from a source where they were stored properly or as with most apples they get a mealy texture.

I like that comment, Sicilian relatives :)

    Have a Good Week
    Roger
I'm glad to be back...here with my friends and back to taking care of my health.

    Hi Again
It is nice to see all of You here too, I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one left here in this message thread :)

    Cheers
    Roger

    Had another on-plan eating day!
I'm still incurring medical bills, so i have not requested reimbursement. Friday and Saturday I was in so much pain I had to use my walker around the house. Sunday i was pretty ok, so i took that walk.
Although it is right for her to reimburse the costs resulting from her breaking the law...there is also a cost to having a psycho hate you even more. She is the type who would throw poisoned meat over my fence to kill my dogs.

    Hi
Cold & Windy today, 26 degrees with a wind chill in the teens, Brrrr.....
7200+ Steps so far and a trip to the supermarket later. That will likely add more than a few steps as they are still moving things around and You need to explore to find anything :)

As I walk I see plenty of spring flowers blooming currently, Daffodils, Grape Hyacinth, Hyacinth, Flowering trees, And Lots of Violets along the sidewalks. Nice time of year to go walking that way. Plenty of Birds using the Bird feeders we have set out in front of the living room window too.

    Have a Good Tuesday

    Hi Val
I am sorry to hear that this person is that bad, All I can think of is Pepper spray as a just in case. This person sounds like the type that hates everybody.

I am eating to plan myself, My plan that is :) I decided a little while ago that although I was not at what the Internet considers my weight should be and taking into consideration that my doctor said I was good that the weight lost so far was good. Therefor I decided to go to maintenance :) I have added some calories to my meals such as an extra NS dessert or an extra fruit each day. I was just looking at my daily weights diary and I see I am 1/2 pond under where I weighed mid February so that seems to be working.

I have delayed my NS order as much as I can due to having plenty of food from A La Carte additions and some judicious shopping.

    Congratulations on staying On Plan

Having gone so far off if plan for more thsn a month really made me feel like a total beginner... Watching each bite. It's now feeling like the familiar good habit i had been in. But need to keep the intake really tight because I can't do all the exercise i used to do. This evening I had baked radishes for the first time...and i liked them! Also had two zucchinis (zoodle). When I regained 20# i was getting close to not fitting my new clothes...and I already gave all my larger clothes away. Glad to be back on track...that would have really hurt to have to re-buy a former size. Glad I turned about before needing that. Take care, Val

    Hi All!

Roger, I am not sure you are supposed to have all that blooming stuff and 26 degree weather! I hope that converting your computer is going well! Congratulations for going on maintenance. That is a real accomplishment! You have been perserverent, much more than I! I noticed you have increased your steps! You are progressing all over the place!

Val, I hate you are having so much pain. How frustrating to be hurt and limited for a while. You are right about those people though, they could do more out of spite. I do not know what is wrong with some people! Did you have muscle or nerve damage? Just take it steady and slow. There will be improvement.

The concert I attended was great! It was The Newsboys, a Christian Group. I like all kinds of music, it was a long time since I have gone to a concert! Special effects were awesome! Of course, on the way home I got caught in a severe thunderstorm with lots of lightening and 50 mph winds. My windshield wiper on the driver side, (of course!) got tangled in the other wiper and I was blinded and almost went off the road. It took me a moment to realize what happened! I found a place to pull off and tried to fix it and got soaked. Once I turned it on again it flopped between the mirror and roof top post of the car, totally useless. So I waited out the heavier rain to go my last 3 miles or so. I was anxious to get home to my doggies! I finally drove by leaning and trying to look out the rider's side, while the rest of me still sat on the driver's seat. Thank goodness, no one came behind me! I did get it fixed for free by a real nice person at one of our gas stations. What a night!!

My MRI was awful. They injected my shoulder joint with saline and then contrast. I dreaded that part, and it was actually just a small prick twice, totally fine! However, my entire shoulder region cramped up from laying so awkwardly. It was not supported and the pain just got worse from that. I hinted several times for some elbow support after about 10 minutes not moving, but, apparently they thought I was kidding. By the time I was ready for the MRI I was really hurting. The shoulder feeling heavier was a euphemism for this will be the worst and longest pain in your life! It was the smallest MRI machine I ever saw! It was a brand new plushy facility, and they should have been ashamed to build such a first generation machine. She never told me how long to go. I have been in some with a clock that count down, or even have radio or music. I was jammed in totally, touching all the wall, thank GOD I am not claustrophobic. I was hurting so bad, it didn't matter. I spent a good deal of time screaming in my head that I just wanted it over. She finally pulled me out and told me I had 7 minutes in another position. I just looked at her and told her I couldn't. My arm would not even move by then without help from my other hand. I just could not do it. I am thinking I may not have surgery not matter what the results. I must have looked pretty bad, as she unlocked my door to my room herself, and found me and stayed with me till I got to the door to leave. Geeze, I never felt so old! I was not a wuss-- but I am now, apparently!! Hate to even get the results!

Take care all, and keep on, keeping on! Jan <3

Oh, Jan! That wiper mishap is no joke! Had the same thing happen years ago driving across Minnesota. Glad you got home safely from that. Your MRI experience sounds like a nightmare! so often the 'medical professionals' forget that we are REAL people with real pain and limitations. When i severed my rotator cuff the MRI was uneventful... No shots, i just lay there. I hope that test was enough for them to see what's going on. My physical pain is usually minimal but last Fri and Sat were bad (for no reason...I didn't do anything). I'm trying to come to terms that it is not safe enough for me to walk here. So many of the fences are barely containing their aggressive dogs...plus the twisted thoughts some neighbors... It's not worth it! Too high of a risk and too heavy of a price if any of the millions of mishaps that are all along the path were to materialize. Which they keep doing. I can exercise indoors but my dogs love going out to sniff and pee, plus walk. Not sure how to meet their needs.

    Hi val
It doesn't take much to get back in the swing of dieting IMO.

I know I would hate to have to rebuy the sizes I had already donated too.

    Hi Again
I have had that same thing happen with the wipers too.

Just curious is there a way to load the dogs into Your car and drive to a park for the walking of them?

Are there no safe paths in Your neighborhood You can take? Some of the fenced in dogs I walk past have worn deep grooves in the ground from running along the fence barking at passerby's.

I have also seen people walking their poor dogs where the dog is wearing a muzzle.

    Have a Great Day

    Hi Jan
The Old Laptop I ended up loading XP onto it again on a larger hard drive I had laying around. I did have drivers and was able to get all the security updates that are available for it, Well over 100 of them. The hard part is Antivirus software for XP. I tried Windows 10 and there is something in the hardware it does not like, I need to investigate further.

It sounds as if You got lucky with the Wiper problem.

I am sorry to hear that the MRI was so painful. I wonder if part of that was the injections? Now I wonder if I should pursue having my shoulder looked at? If they say they can fix the shoulder I would proceed, I had a parent that had back work done and that cured a lot of pain and the same with the Knee Replacements on both knees so It may just come down to finding the right surgeon.

I suspect I am older than You so if You had problems......

    Good Luck
    Roger

    Hi Val!
Loading the dogs to another location sounds like a possible solution. Leave it to Roger! I am glad you are turned around again! Stress and comfort management sounds like a problem we both face!! I gained 25 lbs back, but part is falling off quickly. It does feel good to get some of that weight back off. Even breathing is easier! Supposedly to get that shot in the MRI, I needed to be in that position. Not my cup of tea!

Hi Roger! Don't let my MRI experience get to you. I guess with contrast is worse, so if they do without contrast it is better. I just found the doctors fine, and the staff knowledgeable on their machine, but their nursing skills about zero. A pillow and some input on time passed could have helped me finish the test.

Looks like a lot more people than I thought have those wiper problems!

MRI people called. No torn rotator cuff! He said I have severe arthritis in that shoulder and all along there. He is putting me on 2 arthritis pills and scheduling me for 2 months of PT. I can live with that!! He said we are trying that first, which implies he may think I need that joint scraped. LOL!!! I will make use of the PT and leave well enough alone, I think!!

I am trying to finish up my taxes. Can I believe I am one of those people that waited till the end?? (eye roll!!!)

Take care all! Hang tough!! Jan <3
