Jan- you had asked what i do w my dogs when i travel. For vacations, sometimes i take them with! But ither times and when I'm traveling for work, they stay home. Previously I'd hire a pet sitter to come to the house; for the past year and a half, I've my roommate (a young adult getting back on her feet) takes care of them. There is no kennel where they can all be together and sleep on real beds, and go outside (or in) whenever they want. Much less stressful for them...and me!

    Hi
8300 steps so far, I picked up my coffee, cashed a check and Bought Fuji Apples at the grocery Store. The weather seems to be slightly warmer today compared to Yesterday. I am still listening to Boston Blackie while walking. I dug out so more records to convert through the computer, Mainly Old Time Radio Shows.

I suspect I will be getting the Frozen portion of my NS order later today. I go the call saying it will be delivered in the next three days, only once have I had the call and it did not come later that day.

    Have a Good Friday

When i try to use the Like button, it throws me to a different page...and its hard to find my way back. I gained 20# from Christmas thru early April. Since re-commiting I've lost 9 of those, and then stalled. It's okay just would be nice to get back where i was do i could continue the big picture. Yes...before the Doberman incident i was wogging between 3 and 10 miles every say! My hip is still really hurting so on good days i can do one mile of walking only. Better than the first month post-attack when j was unable to walk at all (walker). Hit n sunny here (TX)...dogs are shedding up a storm!

    Hi Val
Strange, I am using it on the computer and when I click it it shows a count in front of the word Like a black square with a white number in it. Are You using a Computer running windows or a Apple Device?

Having been allergic to pet hair when Young I would be somewhat afraid to have a Non Allergenic breed.

Congratulations on losing that 9 pounds, especially since the attack had to be a major setback.

Today We hit in the 60s with 70s for Sunday.

    Have a Great Day

    Hi
Another Day another walk 9.2K Steps, I think I forgot to mention I did find a badly corroded penny Thursday & Friday. I wasn't sure what I had Until I scrubbed them :)

With stops at the drugstore, Acme, and Gas Station, Gas station for the car and Tiller + Mower, That makes $60 and change spent. Acme for some frozen breakfast Entrees that are on sale at $2.49 or Buy for and pay $1.99 each. Then a Coupon for $2 off of 6 that I can use next visit. If I make that visit by Thursday I can get 6 at $1.99 each and then take an additional $2 off making it basically 6 for $10.

Does that make me cheap or frugal? :)
Right now I am listening to Boston Blackie while walking with more of them to go and sitting here a Capture of a Old Time Radio Record of the Andrews Sisters Radio Show. The one I am listening to is from during the War years. Bing Crosby & Gabby Hayes.

    Have a Good Weekend

I had a suspicion, I believe it takes a lot more work coding a website to work well with a smartphone. That was why I suspected You might be using one. I think the MFP app is not a good as their website from looking at feedback.

Thank You for the kind words

    Hi from rainy Alabama!
I haven't seen the sun in so long, I forgot what it looks like! I have just rested my days off from PT. I have not done much more than the minimum the last few days, and it has felt pretty good! Glad you both are doing well!
I really enjoyed the Disney medley, Roger! Seems a far greater sound than from 12 people! Considering the prices of things nowadays, I have to say you are frugal, not cheap! LOL!
Val, it is so much easier on the dogs to have a sitter than be boarded! I am glad you can go that route! I have not had problems with the buttons, I am glad they added them!
Have to get ready for church, and the Sun is shining!! It is a beautiful sight! Yay!!! Hope everyone had a good week-end! Jan B)

    Hi
I had a good walk, 7900 steps + 20 Cents :) It was in the 40s when I started out and I took of the light jacket on the return leg as I was getting too warm under it.

The new Carburetor for the Lawn Mower was delivered yesterday so that is next on the agenda after Breakfast. The Cost for a new one was the same as the parts to rebuild the old one. Darned things are plastic. The Tiller Carb was worth rebuilding so that is what we did with it.

Grass needs to be shortened so the question is see if the mower will run first, The main problem is hard starting or change it first. Decisions, decisions :)

    Have a Great Sunday

    Hi
I found one penny on today's walk, it was warmer than yesterday and I was overdressed despite wearing one layer less. Today is forecast to be in the high 70s to 80 degrees :) It seems early to me for these temperatures here in NJ, I could also be wrong.

I changed the carburetor yesterday morning, then I mowed the front and side lawns, the back grass did not really need it.

I watered the garden too. Two of the three Apple trees have started to leaf out as have more of the Raspberry plants. The Onion plants are growing pretty good too.

    Have a Good Upcoming Week

    Hi!
One more day before this week's PT. I am a little stiff, but they prefer you to do no exercises on the days you are not with them. That suits me, though I do stretch out some. Trying to walk more, but not as motivated as I should be!
Rodger, it is warmer there than here in Alabama. The cool 50's at night are a blessing here. Usually spring weather does not last long here, as we have either unseasonal cold or more likely jump right into summer. This is the best spring I remember in 25 years! I have quite the yard clean-up, due to the storms, winds and heavy rainfall. Sounds like your garden is doing well! Your temps sound a little high from when I lived in Ohio growing up. I don't remember much 70 degree weather in the North till June. Seems the weather is just more volatile. Good progress to you this week! Keep up the good work!! Jan B)

    Hi Jan
When I see the news reports regarding weather in other areas of the country I think, NJ weather isn't that bad after all :) I think they had deep snow in Colorado, Tornadoes and large hail elsewhere.

We had one experience with largish hail that put little dimples in my car when it was parked at work, that small patch also hit a couple of car dealerships. I did not even bother getting my old car fixed. It kept getting damaged at work with no one ever trying to find the owner.

I hope You are nearing the end of the PT? Or if it doesn't help do they move on to the next thing to try? Either way, Good Luck

As far as clearing the Yard I have been picking up small branches off of trees that appeared during the winter. Worst part is we have no trees in the yard, Next Door, behind and across the street has to be where they are coming from. Evidently we have weak trees here in town. After every high wind storm I have to push small branches off of the sidewalks during my walk.

    Good Luck with the PT

    Hi Val!!
So sorry you have been feeling rotten! That is no fun and I really feel for you. Hopefully the cold won't last long! I was glad you were okay during the flooding. I miss my TV for the news. I don't always remember to grab it on the computer. With the TV I could listen while I was doing other things! You surely made a great choice realizing to be in a house on high ground. You all have had some major storms! Hang in there and feel better soon!! Jan <3

    Hi !
Rodger, you sure manage to accomplish a lot! Makes me feel somewhat lazy at times!
PT was hard today after cutting grass yesterday. I over did it and hurt at night and also during my exercises. The advil doesn't seem to help much, and it is the prescription strength. She put ice on me today, and that seemed to aggravate the pain. I will have to remind her the heat feels better. I think the PT loosens my muscles, but I don't think it will help the pain. I am afraid the Dr. is going to want to do that scraping. perhaps I will be wrong!! Oy Vay! B)

    Hi
I got out walking by 7:25AM, It was a bit chilly outbound and I was thinking maybe I should have added a layer then on the return part of the loop I was thinking I wish I had on less layer, I'm never happy :) I also found 1 whole Chuck E Cheese Token while walking.

I got a few more things done yesterday, We cleaned the refrigerator, and I pulled the gizmo we put the dishes in to drain out of the one side of the sink and cleaned the Sink.

My brother baked a Cheesecake and as the chief taster in residence I know I'll be eating some today.
    zVWhIw.jpg

I turned on the water to start watering the garden on my return from my walk, Currently 5 of the 11 berry plants and two of the 3 Apple trees are leafing out.

I got the Phone call that the replacement item(s) for my missing frozen has shipped. It should arrive today, Whee!

    Have a Nice Wednesday

    Hi Jan
I get lazy too, I have to fight inertia all the time to accomplish anything :)

After getting into Stomach trouble using to much of the OTC pain killers for too many days I now tend to stay away from them entirely and just live with the pain. If two Aspirin doesn't do it, Oh Well....

OTOH if the scraping will cure the pain permanently it could be worth doing, However only You can determine that for Yourself. I know someone that put off a knee replacement a little too long. It was still much improved however the doctor said that waiting too long meant it would never be 100%. Live and learn. When I go out walking for the first block or so I have some knee pain myself and then it gets better as I get going.

I used to cut the grass over two days when I was working since I had to do it on the weekends and on weekends here in town You can not start as early and thus 1/2 the lawn and I would be done for from the heat. So I would Mow the front one day and then the side and back the next day.

    Good Luck

I was Not 100% Wednesday, I had a Chinese Pork Broccoli Lunch Special and My Brothers Home Made Cheesecake for Dessert

No money found today while walking, It was somewhat colder than yesterday so I wore more layers on the outbound leg, I ended up Shedding on the Inbound leg as it warmed up outside. Nice looking day so far, It is somewhat hard to believe rain is in the forecast for later.

    Have a Nice Thursday

    Hi!!
I have to find a good walking place, it is the only way I can add those steps to 5,000 at least when I am not mowing the grass! My place takes about 4 days to mow. The weather is nice now, but soon it will be in the mid 90's or more to mow, since the grass stays wet in the am, and I have to wait for it to dry out some.
My PT Tues. was harder and hurtful as I mowed Monday and overdid. My shoulder killed me, and everything hurt! I thought I was really in trouble Weds., until I remembered today was PT and not yesterday! I had some grass to finish, and actually felt better after I was done, and I felt better all day. Just an adventure!!
Your cheesecake looked absolutely delicious!! I have trouble with portions- I am afraid I would want to sit with just a fork and attack it, LOL! What kind of topping does it have? It almost looks like a pineapple in the picture, or maybe sour cream or both. It looks yummy!! I have to watch today. I met with some girl friends at Panera early. They were good and got fairly reasonable and healthy smoothies. I like warm things in the a.m. and got an orange scone. It was delicious, but I will have to have greens and low calorie and low sugar vegetables for lunch and snacks, and protein and no carbs for dinner to make up for it! I think I will take out some salmon and end healthy!!
Have a good day! Looking forward to when you post 3,000 too, to add to your accomplishments!!! Take care!! B) Jan

    Hi
I dropped off two wedges of the Home made Cheesecake and a couple of other things to get rid of temptation at friends. All that is left of the Cheesecake is two wedges in the freezer awaiting a friend to drop by for them. Since they are earmarked they are safe :)

I stopped by the Grocery Store on the way home 9600+ Steps, I picked up a three pound bag of "Seedless Candy Mandy brand Clementines, Three Bananas since with the warmer weather they are ripening quicker, Fuji & Red Delicious (On Sale) Apples for my SmartCarbs.

It was T-Shirt Weather today, 60 degrees at 7:30AM. My Brother said I was overdressed due to the long pants :)

I had mentioned corroded coins I found on my walks, Today was no exception, One Shiny Penny and one corroded penny. Image attached of some of the finds from April.

    Hi Jan
It is just some sort of glaze thing designed to keep the top from cracking. Too Late BTW, It cracked in cooking. No Fruit, just a sort of sweet taste.

Wow, I had not even noticed My post count was that high, hmmm...

I found out in the past when You overdo it that the next day it hurts to get started, having said that once You get started it helps with the pain.

My understanding is that it does not really hurt to mow if the grass is wet, However You do need a sharp blade. I suspect You will find people are evenly split as to whether it hurts the grass or not.

I do not recall ever eating/drinking anything at a Panera, Possibly since they seem to be mainly in malls, something I try to avoid :)

    Have a Good Day

Hi Jan and Roger. I'm over my cold. Had one if the busiest work weeks ever (and my job is normally crazy). I survived...constant triage if what request was most critical. Shipped out two separate proposals today, and on boarded two writers, fielding their questions and giving them something to work on. Jan-i hope you find a nice and safe walking place!!! Since i lost mine to the crazed dobie owner, I'm just not focused. Plus, my hip has been hurting pretty badly this week. Feeling frustrated and hopeless about it. If you are on Facebook...check out Esther the Wonder Pig! I completely love her, and she always makes me smile (I know I certainly need more smiles)! Take care, val

    Hi
When I checked the weather report at 7AM it was showing that my area is in a clear spot with rain to the east and west so I decided to go walking + 1 Cent and 8900 steps :) It did drizzle for a few blocks on the outbound leg so I popped up the umbrella and ended up furling it and hanging it back on the Backpack for the rest of the walk.

I swung by the Grocery Store for a Box of breakfast cereal, I had intended to look at the Puffed Wheat and see if it would work for NS, Strangely I did not see it or Puffed Rice, I did pick up the Post Shredded Wheat Bite Size, it is 210 calories for 55 grams so I figure I can reduce the serving size to get it in the proper range of calories.

I may have to water tomorrow as so far the weather report is showing 0.05 inches of rain, it will depend on if and how much more comes today.

    Have a Great Weekend

    Hi Val
I guess Mall walking is out? Or maybe a local park? We have a Park where You can walk a 1/2 mile loop as needed.

Your busy work sounds like a pain in the neck from Your description.

    Hi
Despite trying to maintain I did not succeed :), I was down 1/2 pound since last Sundays weigh in.

Not to much to say, I was walking 8600 steps, And I stopped at the dollar store for two quarts of milk to put on the pantry shelf to use with my breakfast cereals. I think I'll manage to use them before they expire March 16, 2017. The Nice thing is 8 ounces is 100 calories even though they are 1% milk.

The Weather this morning started off 23 degrees cooler than Yesterday, By the time I was on my homeward bound leg of the walk I shed the Outer layer, flannel jacket, it had warmed up that much that quickly :)

Tomorrow I will be eating my last Banana so Tuesday will be stop at the Grocery store or Produce store on my walk for more, I have four Apples left so they are good until I use the last one Wednesday at one a day.

    Have a Great Sunday

    Hi Roger and Val,
What a crazy week-end. My daughter and I went out Friday nite. I got to bed a little later than I meant, and May May woke me a little early. I ended up sleeping a good bit of Sat. off and on. I was just utterly exhausted. I haven't felt so bad since working. I am trying so hard to get to bed earlier, but I was sure in nite shift mode yesterday. I guess I am back to the Advil. I thought maybe a muscle relaxer might work better as the muscles are so tight, but apparently not! I was in pain, so today it is Advil and heat! I was sure I was getting some planting done yesterday, but apparently not!! Val, it is hard to be in pain and stay focused. But we can do it!!
Roger, that you-tube clip of Bugle Boy was pretty awesome! I listen to it when ever I come to the site. You sure carried a bundle of fruit home, nice added weight! :) I luck out that the Panera is on it's own; I have not been to a mall in ages either, happy to say! I think our coffee group from church is planning to make Panera our new home, as it is quiet in the early morning and most people take their things to go. We can sit awhile but not bother anyone! Also a good walking opportunity! Wal-mart the dreaded keeps puffed cereal, though I try to avoid there, too! It does boost the tracker, though! Great grains makes a nice puffed grain and bran flake medley you can adjust for serving calories and tastes pretty good and seems filling, too.
Val, I checked out Esther the pig- she is pretty cute! What a commitment to change your lifestyle to keep an animal you received as kind of a mistake. Two rescue friends follow that site also. The lady I got May from is raising a tiny teacup piglet that was very very young, and still very underweight. It is a miracle she has survived. Her name is Bits and she has a sister called Porkchop! That puts a smile on my face!
Hope you all had a pleasant though all too brief week-end! LOL! Jan B) Take care!

    Hi Jan
I am sorry to hear You did not get a good nights sleep, I must have as I was down for 9 hours last night :)

My Father used to go to McDonalds for coffee with family + friends every morning. McDonalds is safe as long as You are careful what You get, Black Coffee and a Egg McMuffin is 300 calories and the Egg White Delight is 250 calories for example.

I think if I a tiny teacup piglet I would have called it Hamlet :)

    Enjoy the Day

    Hi Rodger,

    Hamlet, I love it!!

Wow, nine hours sleep- I can only dream!! I slept for 6 1/2 hours last nite, and it sure felt good!! May May slept in till 7:45 this am. I did darken the room some. I may need to invest in some no-sun curtains, though I love the airy light ones I have. Guess it depends on how much I want to sleep! Funny thing, that May May slept in so well. She did nothing different. She conks off around 8-9 pm, so I can not complain. It is me that seems to have the 1am bedtime! I am thinking of trying the melatonin at 1mg. to shift my sleep pattern to earlier. My nite shift has definitely messed with my circadian rhythm, and given me delayed sleep syndrome, (how cool, there is a name!), so we will see! I hope it works!!

Those are nice memories about McDonalds with your Dad. I remember it was such a big treat for us to go. We would always take the dog too! In those days, I don't remember if there was a drive thru part at first. We often ate in the car, which was a treat for us. I get a cheeseburger and a bottle water, also, that fits nicely in the day. My Dad was offered to buy into a franchise, but he did not think they might "go". Oh well, (eyes roll!)..... :)

Can't wait till your apple trees bloom, though it might be a little bit! I thought about replacing my peach trees, but with fighting off the birds and squirrels, I just don't know. I think they got more than I did!

I love you dropped a pound on maintenance! That is dedication!!! Keep up the good work!!!

    Hi
I decided to pick up my bananas today since there is a possibility of rain for tomorrow + 8700 Steps. While I was there I picked up some black Plums, I still have four days of apples in the refrigerator as well as 3 days of Clementines and I wanted a change. I was thinking of the Pears, however they were riper than I like so I got the plums instead. The Weather was great 50+ when I left the house at 7:20, I am starting to see Bearded Iris in bloom. I have not seen any Dutch Iris in years however.

As I sit here I can hear my brother mowing, we alternate weeks to spread the load out.

    Have a Great Week

    Hi
I walked 8700 steps + 3 Cents today :) I was out early today and the overnight rain was gone long enough that the Streets & Sidewalks were drying out. More rain in the forecast for later today. It was in the 50s at the time I left the house. No need to water anything today. More rain in the forecast for later Thursday into Friday. So far it looks like I'll be dry for Wednesday & Thursdays walk, Not sure about Friday yet as that will depend on when the rain ends.

    Have a Nice Tuesday

    Hi
It was two degrees cooler this morning, Not to bad for walking, I was slightly chilled when I started out until I warmed up, Lots of clouds so far. Three Stops today, Post Office, 7-Eleven & the Dollar Store for a quart of whole milk good until March 27, 2017 at 150 calories per 8 oz portion and of course $1 per quart. That makes it 150 calories for 8 ounces vs 100 calories for the 1% and 120 calories for the 2%. I have three quarts of the 1%, 2 on the shelf and one chilled for use with today's Breakfast cereal. The Whole Milk is in case my Brother who will not use anything less needs some milk in his cooking.

    Have a Good Day

    Hi
7800 steps today + 5 Cents. I picked up Bananas, Apples & Plums etc. at the Grocery Store on the inbound leg of my walk. It was around the same temperature as yesterday too. Some rain in the forecast, The Weather report showed around .1 inches expected to fall.

Rototiller use in the near future after I have my breakfast shortly :) While I till the plan is for my brother to dig the raised garden beds in the back yard.

    Have a Nice Thursday

    Hi
8400 steps today, Slightly chilly so I wore and extra light layer. In my area yesterdays rain seems to have been a non event. When I looked out the window at 7PM the street was wet but under the trees it was still dry and the rain had stopped. Todays forecast is for some rain later, once again that mythical .1 inch of it. Currently we are near a 6 inch rainfall deficit for April.

No Tilling yesterday as my brother was not in the mood, maybe today.

While I was walking Yesterday the Boston Blackie show was from the War Years, I know for two reasons :)
The show was about Blackie breaking up a Nazi ring that was sending departure information to Submarines regarding the sailing of Convoys and a commercial looking for Sailors to man the Merchant marine fleet to carry goods to the war.

Have a Nice End of the Week Day
    Roger
