I agree that $150 is expensive, but prescription medication adds up to that quickly. I'm still loving my blanket...and I've been sick, so I've been spending more time with it!

    Hi Val
I have no problem with spending money for something that does the job, I am a believer that Quality pays in the long run. I just hate spending money for something that doesn't perform or has a less expensive alternative that is just as good :)

    Good Luck getting better soon

    Hi!

Well, my whole body is a' draggin from vacation. I had a super wonderful time. We walked 10,000 steps all but Friday when we drove home. Walking in Savannah is tiring and a challenge with the humidity and heat (and it was not hot yet!) in the high 80's and the thousands of staircases and steps. I am beyond pooped and do not see how I will make PT Tues. I am out of some meds and need to be home and gone at the same time. That was the hardest vacation to do and then come back to the chaos. The chaos was caused by insurance not letting me have my refill 3 days early, as it was not time. When the day arrived, I was too busy to go due to PT that would not let me reschedule a day to a different week, and other obligations. I love our insurance system at times......not!

Only gained 2 lbs. which was good. I ate like a trucker, especially at Paula Deen's Lady and Sons restaurant and I think I had a cup of she crab chowder at every meal but breakfast! Great seafood everywhere and a great Italian and German place too! We also did rickshaws, trolleys and bus lines when not walking. The bus system and water ferries are free. We saw a baby dolphin only about 2 days old and watched the pod for at least 30 minutes or so. Lots of wonderful history and old homes.

Roger, glad you are doing so well and getting so much done in the yard. I can't believe it was so cold up there, though we benefited by dryer days and cool nites!! Great pictures above and band!! Thanks for sharing!!! Don't overdue and happy Tuesday!!!! Jan B)

Jan-congrats to you snd your son for his PhD. That's awesome.
Roger- love the grapes and all your walking.
I've been turning to food for comfort and out of frustration with my loss of being able to go walking. Hip still hurts. Work has been too busy. But glad to be employed. I've has two nights of heavenly sleep...with my new weighted blanket. They are helpful for autistic people and those with anxiety or PTSD. I've not felt this level of relief in eons. Netflix had kept me company gor years...but haven't even turned it on since my blanket arrived. Such a simple thing with such a huge positive impact! Hugs, val

Val, I am so sorry that your hip is causing such a problem! PT has caused me some anxiety and loss of time which makes me turn to comfort food also. I was not able to prepare for the vacation properly and am dropped right back into a pressure schedule and I am not 40 anymore. The Melatonin has me going to bed closer to 10 or 11 pm, as may May seems intent on getting up at 6 or 6:30. Sleep helps! Glad the blanket is helping! Now we just need to get that hip better!!!

Do not despair! Each day is a day to start anew!!! Really eat protein and lots of it, and buy salads at fast food if you must. Don't worry about amount, sometimes the protein will kick it in gear as does pink grapefruit, also in cups premade. That may help!!

Hang tough!!!! Love, Jan <3 thanks for sweet words on son!! :)

    Hi Jan
I know You will bounce back now that You are at Home.

It sounds as if You had a great vacation. Humidity and heat already? Can You imagine what summer must be like there if it is like that now?

Only 2 pounds is not bad from the sound of it, and a lot of that may be water weight from eating out so much. The places that prepare food seem to go heavy on salt as it is a cheap taste enhancer :)

Free Transport is hard to beat for price.

Please do not get me going on the weirdness's know as the Insurance Industry!

    Have a Good Week.

Hi Jan-welcome back! So glad you had a wonderful vacation! Sounds fun and tiring. What an interesting concept-free public transportation. How bad was the commuter surge? Or do commuters drive? I love dolphins (and all ocean mammals)...what a super opportunity to watch the baby with its family.

Over the weekend i was really sick with what felt like the flu. Saturday, i was non-functional except to get to the restroom and back. My housemate bought juice, and Em (my 13yo) would bring it to me. Sunday I felt like I had been hit by a truck. Monday I felt great. My weighted blanket is so comforting and I still marvel at how well I sleep. After weeks of zero exercise, I walked my dogs around the block...totaled 3/4 mile. My hip was hurting and I was so frustrated about it that i was almost in tears. My fur-babies are so sweet and understanding...but they need more, well at least Duke...very energetic! The chihuahua is cool, the old giant is happy, and lovely Lucy so sweet, but Duke wanted to run and to keep going.

    Hi
With the weather forecast for rain starting later today into tomorrow I decided to pick up my fruit today while the weather is good + 9200 steps. I picked up 4 apples, 3 Jazz and 1 granny Smith, As well as 3 Yogurts at 3 for $1.99, A new brand to me so if I like them I can pick up more Thursday :)
it was in the 50s when I started out with no discernible breeze.

I went to listen to a "Richard Diamond" Radio Show while walking, It turned out to be a episode of "The Green Hornet" radio show. Enjoyable too.

    Have a Good Tuesday

    Hi Again
I am sorry to hear that You were so sick. It is amazing how something You can not even see cab bring You down like that.

3/4 of a mile is better than nothing, I am guessing You do not have a yard Duke could be turned lose in?

What do the Doctor(s) say regarding Your hip? Time? Physical Therapy or surgery?

I hope it resolves itself soon. It is a darned shame You have the neighbor from hell. I might actually get one of those Go Pro devices to use in Your case. As well as one of the inexpensive Security Camera Systems.

    Good Luck

I was wearing a body cam when the Doberman attacked! I git that after the police told me about the other neighbor's lies. (And a dashcam too!) No question about what happened. Bone bruises take 6 to 12 months to heal. Three months so far.

That is so frustrating with your hip. Seems like they could give you a pain patch or something at decreasing doses. I will give you and Rodger the "Secret Bones Broth Recipe" which I honestly think I could sell. It is great for arthritis and super good for bones. The entire elderly (me included) population of my church has started using this with good results. It WILL help your injury. (I sound like an info ad!) Every culture has some form of this:

Save your bones! (You can freeze them, and add together!) From any meat, chicken, beef, pork. Add about 4x water to the amount of bones. You MUST add 1 TB. vinegar to the mix. I use a pressure cooker. My friends also use a crock pot or simply a large kettle. For a kettle, bring to a boil and then simmer low for as long as possible, 24-36 hours is best. You may refridge and finish cooking another day. Hence, my friend uses her crock pot. You do not need to add water from it cooking down. She does 36 hours, but 24 will do. No muss, no fuss. I use my pressure cooker, set for 40 minutes, cool, and do it 2 times more. 36 hour broth in about 3 hours. The vinegar breaks down the collagen and bone into the broth and it is concentrated. You may addherbs, or veggies to taste if you prefer a stock that way. Strain and enjoy. 1/2 cup 2x a day makes a difference. do it to suite you. I strain and pick what is left of the bones, many times they are like powder and poof! I add it back to my broth. Use as is, make soup, add to recipes in addition to your dose.

P.S. This works very well for DOGS as well. I made it for Buttons who was my arthritic part bulldog and she could walk better and be chipper within 4 days of using it. It is a God send!

P.P.S. chicken feet do wonders, of course we are in the South and they are everywhere. May freak you all too much! LOL! Love, Jan <3 Savannah tourist district is blessedly quiet in the mornings, people really come out at 4 pm to Par-ty till the wee hours. We all were pretty much 8 till 7, then dead!

Hi Rodger! I LOVE old photos! That is so interesting! I have gone on google street level and found my childhood homes and Grandparents homes. I even found our neighborhood little bakery building, though sadly it is empty. I wish someone would use it and save the old building, which is quite neat. Interesting, nostalgic and big brother scary too! Bitter with the sweet! I wish schools would show these things to kids to give them an appreciation of the past in their neighbor hoods.

The fit bit is helping with more walking. The chaos continues with my schedule. It was so bad that I actually missed a DR appt yesterday, and did not realize it, because I was at the other doctor trying to still straighten my medicine. They forgot to call in my request for Emergency 2 doses, so I showed up in person. (then was chewed out by my Doc for not realizing i have a 90 day supply, just see him every 90 days and this would not happen ). I failed to see his logic as I was short before the 90 days. Neither of us left feeling too good about the other. Oh well. At least Walmart Pharmacy did not screw up, that is comforting. LOL!

Great job as usual for your walking!! Maybe next week I will be more on track, though the walking and gardening is making me lose lbs.! The same lbs, but still a plus!! I have been so busy, I did not have much time to eat! Grabbed protein!

I will be consistent like Roger when I grow up!!!! LOL! Have a great Thurs.! Jan :)

    Hi
Yesterdays rain was a fizzle in my area, at some point in the afternoon it rained just enough to get the street wet except under the trees where it stayed dry.

The temperature outside was OK while walking, 7900 steps.

    Hi
I was out walking earlier, 3 stops during the walk + 8200 steps.
Now after trip to the lumber yard to price items I am up to 9200 steps :)
Today's weather has started out nice and is supposed to be in the 70s for a high.

I'm not saying I'm less than impressed by the News out of the New York TV stations however, When they call the image below a Bulldozer............. ??

However to me this is a Bulldozer not the Excavator shown above :)

Currently I am running a file recovery program on a external drive from my Brother, It got corrupted by a power outage, That is the likely cause anyway. The Deep Scan portion took from Noon to almost 7AM. Now it is recovering to a different external drive and then I'll try and see if I can fix the old drive. Currently Windows thinks it needs to be formatted and will not run chkdsk on it.

    Have a Nice Thursday

    Hi
7200 steps and 1 Cent today. The Weather is warming up already too. I picked up some Blackberries at $0.99 and some Cherries and two Bananas since the weather is warming up.
Before I left I turned off the heat as it was running and today is supposed to be in the mid 70s, We should not need it and may even be done with the heat until fall :)

Yesterday I got my Brothers Hard Drive repaired, then I came up to this computer and son of a gun, My External drive here has a problem too, great!

So I know what I will be doing later on. I doubt the drive is bad, just not showing as partitioned and formatted :(

    Have a Nice Friday

Good news...my magic blanket is continuing to work wonders! I'm so much nicer and smarter now that I actually sleep. Sorry for belaboring the point but I can't even begin to list the many 'remedies' i had tried. The hugest dark heavy cloud/weight has been lifted from me. So, what have I been doing since? Well, I have been submerged in a ridiculously intense aerospace proposal --working 14-18 hour days for a month...and the government just revised the requirements and extended the due date so the ginormous work load continues. But, it's just work...the "pain" of it is outside me....whereas before my blanket...I'd feel the pain of life stresses inside me. I guess it's like I have a teflon coating.

    Hi All!

Rainy and cloudy couple days here. We actually needed the rain so I can not complain, and it cuts down on watering! I usually average more steps, but I slept a lot yesterday. I was downright tired! I still slept good last night, so I guess I needed it!

PT was hard after the week vacation. But I was mostly just tired. I saw the Dr. and he said I could go to a home program. I have 2 more weeks of 2x a week, my idea to work on some moves reaching backwards, still a little stiff. He said it would be 3- 4 mos. of me working at home to really do my shoulder right. At least traveling will be cut down.

I only did 2000 steps yesterday, because I slept so much! Have to get back to my 5000, at least. I have a few things to plant today, hopefully I will get that done.

Val, I am tickled about your blanket, never heard of them down here! I did not realize you were vegetarian! I will have to come up with something else, as bones are the backbone, LOL, of that recipe! Well, Rodger, it is good for us!

Rodger, there are so many errors on the news and TV nowadays. So many words are misused and mispronounced; I guess proof reading is a thing of the past.

Hope the rest of the week-end is enjoyed by all! Jan

    Hi
8700 steps + 1 cent from walking this morning. The weather is cooler today and clouded over with some rain in the forecast. The rain is forecast to start in South NJ and move into my area in the afternoon. I can't complain as we are still under where we should be for rain this year.

Garden report, considering that they were planted this year, I was surprised to see blossoms on the Apple trees and what appear to be flower buds on some of the Raspberry plants.
We now have pulled some of the larger radishes this morning to thin out the row. Size from 3/4" to 1". Nice and crispy and not hot like they get later in the year. One of the two Rhubarb plants has pushed leafs above the surface and my brother thinks the Jerusalem Artichokes pictured below are coming up. They are planted in the raised bed in the front growing area on each side of the porch. I pictured them just in case.
    HL6CLD.jpgTcuD2b.jpg

My Patio is being invaded by Tent Caterpillars. I have to keep killing them off of the Apple trees we planted, before I noticed them they had decimated several of the leafs on them. They keep trying to cocoon up under the overhang around the back door and along the door as well as the same thing on the Shed. Not to mention around the outside back door trim and the bottom of the siding. The newly planted apple trees seem to be where they head for a snack, they do not seem to be bothering the Raspberry plants or the Blackberry plant.

    Have a Great Weekend

My brother calls them diggers too, I think of them interchangeably TBH.

Don't get me started on the misspellings and bad grammar in the crawls at the bottom of the screen. Sheesh!

I am a bit puzzled by the My external drive, It works perfectly in the basement and is detected when plugged into this computer but with no contents detected. I have backed it up using the basement computer and am thinking about cleaning off a different drive and putting the contents on that drive to see if it works. if so then that makes two backups and I will try zeroing it out and then creating a new partition and a fresh format and see if that works as a test. I think I will go get that started right now.

    Wish me luck

    Hi
I stopped for Coffee on the outbound leg at 7-Eleven and McDonalds for a Large Decaf and the Dollar Store for a Quart of 1% Milk to keep a decent amount of it on the Pantry shelf on the inbound leg + 8500 steps. I'm pretty sure I can use up the milk on cereal before it expires on April 11, 2017 :)

The Weather was in the Mid to upper 50s when I went out to start my walk, The Rain has passed for now and things are drying out.

My Brother picked up some Insecticidal Soap yesterday and it works pretty good on the Tent Caterpillars.

    Have a Really Nice Sunday
