Hi Val
Interesting method, I would have thought that doing it that way would make the neat and rice to watery, It seems I was wrong
You could be right. I suppose You could try going back through posts You made here and see if they give You any insight into Your previous health.
Good Luck

Hi All,
Val, stuffed cabbage is one of my favorites! I am okay with making a soup! I have done that on occasion also when not wanting to roll. They used to make a good frozen rolls and a good one that came in cans that with doctoring, tasted good, but alas, no more! Oh my, I am getting old enough to long for discontinued items that no one makes, and hardly no one remembers.... I hope you will be feeling better with the added meds and more protein things! (not meat! if not wanted!) But you do have to really watch certain things extra hard if you don't eat meat. (Which you probably know!). Sinus problems are no fun, and hard to feel if that is the cause, they are so tricky. Good call getting them checked out! Hang tough!
Your weather is weirder than ours, lol!
FWIW You could look in the ethnic foods aisle for a replacement. My brother sometimes buy Stuffed Grape Leafs that are a similar non meat filling, He likes them.
Here is a review for example:
I discoverd That I LOVED stuffed grape leaves after trying the ones on the Kroger mediterranian olive bar. At $7.99/lb I decided to try to find them cheaper on amazon, my go to shopping site! The Kroger deli associate told me the ones they offer on the bar are the Divina brand.
Ingredients
Rice, water, vine leaves, soybean oil, onions, dill, salt, citric acid, mint, black pepperRodger, you are a trooper! I commend you for walking! I still need to do local cards and wrap. I have gotten a little carried away with the Christmas goodies. I will not be a happy camper for several mornings I am afraid! I also must say a good word for UPS. They try, they just cannot guarantee packages for Pakistan once it hits the border. We must be thankful we live where we do, even with the craziness lately. It must be awful to live in a country run by such oppressive people, I mean it is, but how often do we take many little things for granted. We are blessed people so far!
Love Dean Martin and Bing Crosby at Christmas. Must be time for Holiday Inn and White Christmas and Miracle on 42nd Street! And a few Scrooges!.....
Take care all! Dress warmly and/or appropriately depending on the day, LOL! Jan 72 Deg.
I wonder if the shipping address showed the Church? If so that could also be a reason for the packages loss. For a supposedly tolerant religion they tolerate none but their own IMO.
Have a Nice Day

This morning it was 29 and windy...went to the post office and a few errands...and my coat was safe at home nice and warm. Oops. I got the bill on the rental house repairs and am beyond relieved that it was only $3,000. That's a lot, but i was actually afrayit would be much worse. The added $1,400 lost in waiting for the repairs makes it worse, but so far i can still keep the heat on and the kids and dogs fed and housed. So, I'm grateful. The new sinus regime is going well.1

Hi
Out the door it was showing 26 degrees with a little ice still on the ground and sidewalks in places where it melted Yesterday during the warmup where parts of NJ got up to 60 degrees. I walked 8.6K steps and 1 cent so far, yesterday I reached 11K steps by the end of the day.
I finished updating the food reviews group yesterday with the last of the new NS foods

Fast… and furious: Car owner fails in desperate bid to stop his £270,000 Lamborghini being smashed to pieces in Taiwan because it was fitted with fake plates
The Lamborghini Murciélago is thought to be a custom LP 670–4 SuperVeloce
Its owner was pulled over back in 2013 at a routine police checkpoint by officers
Supercar was found to have the registration plates of an £18,000 Ford Sedan
Authorities decided to completely destroy it to avoid illegal parts being sold on
The custom Murciélago - though to be an LP 670–4 SuperVeloce - had been impounded because it was being driven on a public road without a valid registration number in 2013.
After three years of appeals, the government decided to demolish the luxury car in front of horrified onlookers.

Hi Val
I'm sure we have all done that, I know I have. For some reason it felt colder than it was today outside. Tomorrow will be worse I'm sure as it supposed to be down around 10 degrees overnight
It sounds as if it could have been worse with Your rental house.
How nice that the Sinus is getting better

Good Morning!
It is 37 degrees here and the wind is really blowing. We had a cold rain all day yesterday, but I forgot to check my rain gauge! I think I just wanted to get back in the house! I found my lost sweater in the car, I had forgot I had put it in a box with a few other things and moved it for room. I also promptly forgot it at a friends house, but at least I know where I lost it this time!
That seemed ridiculous to destroy that car. It could have been sold outside of the country and the money given to the poor or something. Almost as dumb as the guy buying such an expensive car, and not paying for plates. I wonder how he got it into the country to begin with. What an all around waste.
I think my friend had put his private name on the boxes, and not the church. There is just not privacy in that country, or a respect for personal rights. The people live a pretty harsh life, esp. women and children, even with compliance to Moslem law, or sharia, depending on the region.
Great job with the steps! I thought the weather would interfere, but glad it was not too icy. I enjoyed the reviews I have read so far for the NS food.
I pick up the grape leaves when I see them, I like them too. I have a passed down recipe for the cabbage rolls that are really good. I make them sometimes, but just buy a really small head of cabbage and make only a few roles, maybe 6. The rest I shred for the top of the pot, and put in an apple quarter for flavor, as the recipe calls for a little brown sugar to go in the tomato sauce. I cheat occasionally and use tomato soup also with fixings.
Val, glad things are settled with your repairs! That should make your stress level drop in a good way! And glad you are feeling better!
Hang in there, all! Jan

What I did on Saturday & Sunday when I was short steps was X walk in the house, Or to put it another way from the right front room to the left rear room and then the left front room to the right rear room crossing the two two paths in the center of the house. That was I was over 10 K steps. Today without doing that I am at 10K steps as I walked further since it was dry outside and dry footing
I agree, however it is their country to do with what they want. If they want to destroy the car I am sure it was well publicized and did send their intended message. How do You spend all that money and then go cheap on the plates, Wow!
You would think that as harsh as Sharia law is they would have no stealing, however I guess poverty trumps all.
I only mentioned the Grape leaves as I did not know if You knew of them.
I hope You stayed dry yesterday and warm today, this is the weather to become ill.
Cheers

The gifts Bill Gates has given to Redditors as a secret Santa for the last four years
How does it feel when the world’s richest man is your secret Santa?
“Flabbergasted” is how Aerrix, a Reddit user who got a gigantic box of gifts from Bill Gates last week described it.
Since 2009, Reddit’s gift exchange has brought holiday cheer to strangers’ doorsteps. Last year, over 120,000 people from 150 countries joined in the world’s largest secret Santa exchange, which matches participants through a “giant daisy chain.” Each Santa is given a person’s username so they can scour through the profile to find the perfect gift. There is no fee to take part, but the guidelines recommend spending at least $20 on your gift.
Have a Great Tuesday

Here in this part of NJ most of the Diners are Greek owned
Zoodle ???
What a tasty looking dish.
Have a Nice Day

Morning!
Yummy looking dish! Rodger, the Zoodles are zucchini noodles, I believe. We have one Greek restaurant here, if it is still here, and they are not too authentic. The food is like someone's concept of Greek food, not mama's. and while not fast food, not exactly a restaurant feel either! Good, but leaves you wanting a real Greek place!
Actually, I think the pilfering in Pakistan and many other countries under sharia law is most often done by the people controlling it and in charge, not usually the very poor or common person. They often live very afraid.
I slept poorly, less than 5 hours, and did not fall asleep well. I am not sure why. I felt like I had caffeine, but didn't. Really strange.
I also forgot my fitbit part of the day when I meant to recharge it for only an hour. I lost out on about 1500 steps or so. I am glad I do not do that often!
My financial person was around 45 min. late with her phone conference this morning. I had so much to do and it was hard to sit and wait. I felt sorry for her though as she is eastern time zone, and I am central. But she also lives in central, but works just over the Al./ Georgia border where the line is, so changes back and forth constantly several times a day. She said she wasn't sure if she was 15 min. early, or 45 min. late, lol!
Take care! Jan1 -

Hi Jan
Taking into Consideration the fact that so many of the eateries are Greek descent owned I do not recall any Greek Cuisine in the area. Italian, Mexican, Peru, The American version of Chinese & some Japanese cuisine yes, Greek cuisine nope. The Best Chinese I had in the past was on a visit with relatives in California where they suggested Dim Sum at a eatery in the Chinatown section of San Francisco.
You could be right about the pilfering, I had not thought about it that way.
On the good side You only lost a few steps for part of the day. The Last time the battery died in my FitBit Zip which is not rechargeable I lost a couple of days while picking up a new battery. T Hat is why I now keep a spare battery in the dresser drawer
I do not think I would be happy going back and forth between time zones. That has to be very confusing.
Enjoy the Day

Morning!
It is 39 degrees here and very foggy! I feel like I am in London with a cold, damp fog! We picked up another .75 inches of rain, at least in my location. It feels colder! But no wind, really.
That is funny, I just assumed Greek owned meant Greek restaurant! Duh! Does this mean we are losing ethnic influence when our ethnic's are done by non ethnics?
Did you know airline chicken is a boneless chicken breast with a wing attached? And airline turkey is a boneless turkey breast with a leg attached? This was from S.C. I never heard of such, but thought it was funny!
Keep up the great walking! Even I walked a little more intentionally yesterday! Will wonders never cease! ..Jan - Best Chinese meal, El Paso, Texas!

Well the Indiana house is on the market! I need it to sell quickly. (And i miss it too.) Work is crazy busy. I'm still off kilter ... health and emotions. Amazon sells a small zoodle gadget that is like a giant pencil sharpener. Amazon and Walmart sell a deluxe version that can handle bigger things like potatoes. That gadget sits on the counter and you crank the handle. Some say it's rickety. I like my little one.1

More rain, is the drought now done for?
That is a little funny, I wonder if it was said tongue in cheek?
The nearest the local Greek owned Diner comes to Greek food is a Greek version of a meat Lasagna.
Interesting I would have though Mexican if anything in El Paso.
keep up the Good Work

Hi Val
I always feel a little sad when I part with some items, My last car comes to mind after driving it for many, many years for example.
That Zoodle gadget, is it like a spiralizer? I looked and I saw this one and it looks like it is one.

On sale today at $11.99. I would buy it if I thought there was a chance I would use it.

Big temp swing for Texas
By Travis Herzog
Tuesday, December 13, 2016
HOUSTON (KTRK) --
A "blue norther" cold front is coming for Texas this weekend, bringing the coldest air so far this season along with it. Not familiar with the phrase "blue norther?" That's when an arctic front swiftly moves down the plains, dropping temperatures 30 degrees or more, sometimes in as little as 30 minutes.
The cold air rushing thru the plains this weekend will be backed by a high pressure ridge currently over the East Siberian Sea, just northwest of Alaska. This high will slide into the central plains by Sunday, sending our temperatures tumbling.
These kinds of cold fronts are normally preceded by abnormally warm weather, and that will be the case this Saturday as high temperatures in Houston approach the record high of 80 set in 1990. Meanwhile, while we're flirting with 80 Saturday afternoon, temps in the Texas Panhandle will already be diving into the 20s! The norther is currently scheduled to blow into Houston early Sunday morning, dropping temps into the 40s before sunrise
Have a Great Day

My zoodle slicer is indespensible! Truly my favorite gadget. I've been working 16-hour days lately. I don't leave the house. Today i looked down at my feet and was startled at how swollen they are, most notably the left one. I thought I don't have time to do anything; I have too much work. Then I thought how nobody at my work puts work before their health and happiness. Nobody at would care if i died...they'd jusy be pissed that I wasn't there to do my job. (yes, i see my thought are skewed...working on that too). So, i put on compression hose, drank lots of water, and did a couple miles on the treadmill. Not moving isn't good for health. (Profound!)

Oh my goodness! Your feet are more swollen than when I have not taken my lasix! I am glad you are taking care of them! Drink some of your water with fresh lemon juice. It has a wonderful diuretic effect, and is healthy for you.
My left leg swells more than my right also, I am thinking from my congestive heart failure. (which is not failure, just a harder time pumping.) With your being so swamped for work, you may as well chistel out a part of the day for exercise and sleep every day! You will always have that work, I would take that time as yours every day or you may have CHF like I do eventually.
They work you too much, but I understand when you are providing!
I did not realize you were going to put your rental house on the market. I hope it sells fast for you! Prayers headed your way all around! ..Jan1 -
Morning to you Rodger!
Your cold spell seems to be hanging on! Such weird weather everywhere it seems. It was 64 degrees here, but felt chilly with grey skies. The sun did not break thru till around 3:45 for a little bit! I will take it however!
Went to lunch with some friends and did not get salad, lol! I am trying to keep up my steps better though! Stopped to get my new glasses! Fabulous! I like seeing! Then to the vet for Chester's arthritis pills and 3 Mos. of heartworm pills for both dogs, That was a quick 200.00 bucks gone. I may have to put the dogs back on cattle medicine at this rate!
I am out of drought, some areas are not that did not get my rainfall, but they are only a few inches away from it I think. We can not complain.
Our friend who is trying to get the box to the school in Pakistan has mailed one with the U.S. postal service that will go to his Dad in Pakistan to deliver. It cost him around $250.00. I do not know if it was the same box or bigger. I can not wait to hear the full story.
Take care! ..Almost Christmas!!!.. ..Jan0 -

http://nypost.com/2016/12/22/these-are-the-most-hated-words-in-america/
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — A poll has found that the most annoying word or phrase used in casual conversation in America is “whatever.”
The Marist College poll released Wednesday indicates the word irritates 38 percent of Americans.
The pollsters offered up five options for most annoying word or phrase: “Whatever,” ”No offense, but,” ”Ya know, right,” ”I can’t even” and “huge.”
“No offense, but” is second with 20 percent. In third place is, “You know, right,” which is irksome to 14 percent of people, tied with “I can’t even.” ”Huge” grates on the nerves of 8 percent.
“Whatever” is losing some steam, though. Last year it topped the list at 43 percent.
Age matters. Among Americans under 30, “I can’t even” takes top honors.
The Dec. 1-9 survey of 1,005 adults has a sampling error margin of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
Have a Great Friday

Hi Jan
It is cold in the pre-dawn time when I got out lately, despite that we are supposed to be in the mid to high 40s for a few days before heading back into the deep freeze.
I am lucky that I have one good eye and one that can use glasses so I get by without having to wear them all the time. I know people that need them to see much of anything, Hopefully Your eyes are better than that.
I hope Your friend was able to get insurance for the value of the contents. I hope that works.
Congratulations and escaping the drought conditions, that must be a relief

Morning!
Glad to see you were able to walk, Val! I know how much you miss it! It is sunny out for the first time in days! It is so nice! I sat and watched the sunset yesterday, for the first time in a while. As much as I know better, I forget to stop and smell the roses!
The weather must be better, Rodger, you are finding change again! I found a really soft pair of gloves for $1.00 at the Dollar store. They are for throwing May May's donut in cold and/ or damp weather!
I have a few last minute things to finish up. Really almost Christmas now! I am looking forward to a safe, peaceful and quiet Christmas! Hope you will be having the same!
Unless you want a rowdy Christmas, lol! ..Take care, Jan1 -
The day of my swollen feet, i first walked on the treadmill in compression socks. I literally had worked back to back 15-16 hour days and nothing else. the compression and walking helped. Then I squeezed into shoes and did laps at Walmart. By the time i got home from Walmart, my feet looked normal again. Today my abdomen is really distended. This is nuts! I feel awful.1
-
Hi
I did not go out walking Today, maybe later for a little ways if/when the rain stops, I walked twice yesterday for a total of 21,390 steps. I decided to go out twice so I could skip today's walk if the forecast for rain by the time I would be heading out the door was correct. Outdoors it is a gray looking day and raining. I am at 78,590 steps since Sunday That means I am past my goal if 70K steps for the 7 day period.
There is baking in the interior forecast, 2 Pies, More Fruit Cakes since we had all of the ingredients and no sense wasting all the different expensive dried fruits. We have Foodsaver bag material that can be used to vacuum seal a 10 inch pie or larger so I'm sure that will happen.
Have a Great Christmas Eve

It was a weird day for finding money yesterday I found two pennies in the morning and a Dime in the afternoon and all in different spots.
I know I am using gloves where I never needed them before to keep my fingers warm

I hope this clears up quickly for You. I know that when I get puffy from water retention it is always diet related.
Feel Better Quickly

Hi all!
Congrats Val on getting the swelling down! I see you got out again for a dog walk! That is wonderful! I am with Rodger! When I eat badly for more than a day, I sure feel it! Makes me wonder why I continue, but I do sometimes!
It was 58 degrees this morning feeding the birds. Almost spring like. Crazy! We are do to hit the 70's I think. Sunny again, I had forgot what it looked like! Great job getting out 2x to compensate for weather, Rodger! Great weekly trekking too!
Off to the kids for Christmas dinner and package opening for the kids. Then tomorrow I can put the feet up and relax after church, or nap, which usually happens. It has been a while since Christmas was on Sunday!
Have a Merry Christmas all! Jan1 -

Hi Jan
From reports I have seen in posts from the Atlanta area it is forecast to hit 70 there. I'm happy that this weekend will be in the 40s
Enjoy the Christmas Dinner and Package Opening
It is nice to have it fall on a Sunday however.
