The news is awful....just goes to show there are many stupid people in this country...doesn't matter what side they're on. We need better education, enforcement of reasonable gun laws (crazy people should not have guns!)
Went for a nice walk in the park again this morning. So glad we are getting back into that. Will be going to my daughter's house this afternoon to hang out with our kids for a while.
    Happy Sunday!

    Hi Vix
I do not think we have a monopoly on stupid people in this country sadly.

I hope You had a Nice Visit and a Great Walk

good morning, Roger we are filling up the pool our selves it is so much more money if you have a tanker to fill the pool it is like $800.00 so we will save some money and do it by using the hose.my allergies are really bad I have been staying in doors as much as possible . take care everyone

    Hi Irene
I am guessing that people will pay the $800 to save the time and work of filling it there-selves. And there is the cost of the water You use to do it too :)

Today I was better with the allergies walking, OTOH I was suffering from a case of terminal sweat :)
A Shower is in my near future while my brother goes and gets his hair shortened AKA a Haircut.

I am guessing that Sundays rain cleared the air for this mornings walk.

I hope the Severe Thunderstorms in the forecast for later today are not too bad.

Thankfully as of this morning I am back within my 5 pound comfort range after Fridays Caloric Overload :)
Still a bit more to get back to where I was Friday morning, however a am guessing that a couple more 100% days will do the job.

    Have a Safe Comfortable Day

    Hi
I walked 6161 Steps AKA 2.79 miles according to the FitBit + 3 Cents during today's walk according to the fitbit :)
The temperature this morning was 69 on the news channel and 72 degrees on the front porch with slowly lowering humidity. The weatherman was predicting rain and Thunderstorms for NJ Yesterday, nailed it :( There was .60 inches of rain nearby me and well over 3 inches in parts of NJ.

    http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/338518-five-things-to-watch-for-in-georgias-special-election
Five things to watch for in Georgia's special election
ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Months of attacks and tens of millions of dollars have led up to Tuesday’s special election in Georgia, where Democrats are looking for their first major election victory of the Trump era.

President Trump’s shadow has loomed large over the race. The Democratic push to frame a victory for Jon Ossoff as proof of a growing anti-Trump wave has nationalized the race. All that attention has drawn almost $60 million of spending from both sides — a record for a House race — into the suburban Atlanta district.

But as Democrats angle for an upset, Republicans in Georgia and across the country have fallen in line around their own candidate, Karen Handel. The GOP knows losing a red seat would be disastrous for their agenda, but they are just as aware that a Democratic loss would deal a heavy blow to the opposition’s momentum.

Polls open in Georgia at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Here are five things to watch as results roll in from the 6th District.

Will the huge turnout trend continue?
Will GOP strongholds and white women save Handel?
Can Ossoff flip Republican moderates and turn out black voters?
    Can Democrats keep outperforming Clinton?

While Democrats have failed to flip any Republican seats in special elections this year, they have seen one promising trend — candidates keep outperforming Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s 2016 margins.
What does the vote mean for Trump’s agenda?
Hmm, Details if interested by following the Link.

    Have a Great Tuesday

    Hi Vix
I had seen that news, yesterday I believe. I am not worried, Now if a Voter Database of non affiliated voters were to have that happen I might feel differently :)

Politics has become so dirty that many people are being turned off by it, By design?

I could see that information being used for a targeted mail campaign. Many of the rules and laws that apply to regular citizens do not apply to politics as they were careful to exclude themselves for that.

As an example they can ignore the do not call database.Exceptions

Placing one's number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop some, but not all, unsolicited calls. The following are exceptions granted by existing laws and regulations—and these types of organizations can register with donotcall.gov and can purchase telephone lists from the Do Not Call Registry

The registry only applies to personal calls, not to business lines or business to business calls.
A person may still receive calls from political organizations.
The organization Citizens for Civil Discourse has lobbied Congress to close this exception by developing a National Political Do Not Call Registry where voters can register their phone numbers and ask politicians to take the "Do Not Contact Pledge". Its database is not backed by the force of law and as of November 2008, only 3 politicians running for office signed the pledge.
A person may still receive calls from not-for-profit organizations.
A person may still receive calls from those conducting surveys.
A person may still receive calls from a company up to 31 days after submitting an application or inquiry to that company, unless the company is specifically asked not to call.
A person may still receive calls from bill collectors (either primary creditors or collection agencies). These callers are, however, regulated by other laws, such as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, which limits them to calling during "reasonable hours". Some creditors may not call debtors who file for bankruptcy protection.

    Hi Irene
It was decent out the door this morning luckily. I am steering clear of sweets and high carb counts and as a result I am not feeling the heat like I used too.

I was amazed that Ossoff was even allowed to run for the simple reason he did not live in that district and could not even vote for himself, What are they thinking. I suspect that was one of the reasons he lost, I could also be wrong :)

Good Luck with the Pool and Upcoming Doctors appointment

Roger, that's nearly all registered voters whether you are affiliated or not. I am not affiliated either. I find it awful that that information was unprotected, regardless of the source. I find it invasive that political parties would collect that information. (I now believe they all do).

    And more humor today

    Hi
I walked 7674 Steps AKA 3.44 miles according to the FitBit + 0 Cents during today's walk :) I have been listening to Agatha Christie Audio-books or Dramatizations for radio of the ones I could not find as Audio-books.
The temperature this morning was 65 on the news channel and 66 degrees on the front porch with a decent humidity level.

Yesterday, Wednesday, I did a test on Chinese Food for lunch. I had the Snow Peas, String Beans and Broccoli Diet meal withe the sauce on the side, I ended up not using the sauce. I got two meals out of the Veges due to the amount of them. I passed the Rice to My Brother to use if he wants to use it if not It goes from the refrigerator into the garbage for the next pickup. I also had a small order of the Bone in Spare Ribs, 5 Ribs and Tasty too and a Egg Roll. For Dinner I had the other half of the Veges and a 100 calorie Protein shake and nothing else. Today by skipping the pint of rice that comes with the "Diet Dinner" I was OK on the scale and am not feeling the effects of the heat like I would with the rice. Why Rice with the meal comes to mind FWIW.

I could not believe we could not find Sticky Fly Ribbons locally, however after searching Multiple places my Brother found non. So off to Amazon...
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005V6ASZU/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Pic FR10B Sticky Fly Ribbons, 10-Pack
    Total Before Tax: $4.99
    Estimated Tax: $0.34
    Order Total: $5.33
Which seemed a decent price as that was the delivered price :)

Have a Great Thorsday AKA Thursday

    Hi Vix
I am positive that the two major parties have that sort of database, remember Hillary blaming the DNC for the condition of the one She was using, Other Democrats have said that they had no problems with it FWIW.

I am not sure the other parties do not also have one...
Today is forecast to be warm and I need to do some running around while my brother does his and tomorrow will be hotter :(

I was feeling a bit more energetic today, I wonder if it was from the fats in the Ribs yesterday, hmm...

    Hi all.
Roger, my functional med dr. told me it's important to get fats in...also did some research on the internet. I'm taking digestive enzymes now, because apparently I do not digest fats, though you wouldn't think that to look at me! haha...plenty of fat seems to have made it's way to me! But it is great for energy and for brain and nerve function.
I am avoiding news again. I find it so horrible. It stresses me even though I know I have no control over what happens in the world.
Will be heading up to LI, NY this weekend for my MIL's 102nd b-day! It seems like a very long week this week.
Hope you are all having a good one. :)

    Good evening;
I have had a hectic week. On Monday afternoon, my water heater let go and my modem also broke, causing no phone and no internet. So on Tuesday I had the plumber install a new water heater in the morning, then in the afternoon Xfinity came and installed a new modem. I then took Sophie to the vet. She has been getting little cysts under the skin in several places.
Wednesday when I got home from work the phone didn't work again and still doesn't work.
On the bright side, no telemarketers are bothering me.
Vix-Have a good weekend celebrating your MIL's birthday. I don't watch the news very often.
    It depresses me.
Irene-I am sure you are getting ready to enjoy your pool this weekend.
Roger-I think you did very well on the Chinese. Sometimes I will get steamed chicken and veggies. It is good, but not a lot of flavor. We used to sell the sticky fly ribbons at my store.
I had hung one in the produce back room when I first started working there. The health inspector told me it was a violation to have those where food is prepared and I had to take it down. I just figured it was better than having flies land on the fruit as we were cutting it.
    Have a good night. :)

Jo, missed you this week...sorry it was so hectic for you. Hopefully you get your phone service back soon. Also hope Sophie's doing ok. When the fan on our water heater broke it took them over 2 weeks to get the part and fix it!
I think you can still get fly papers at Walmart? Home Depot? I know we got them in the last couple of years.
    Off to zumba this morning.
    Happy Friday, everyone. :)

good morning, the pool is up and we ran the hose all night so couple of more hours and it will be filled. The Dr visit was fine of course I had to sit and wait ,I sat in the room for an hour could not believe I had to wait so long. He did relieve me to go back to work with restrictions no more than 4-6 hours a day no ladders or stairs no kneeling, or squatting and I can only stand or sit 2 hours at a time I can only lift 25 pounds so today I will be calling amazon not sure what they will say but 6 hours a day sounds a lot better then 10 hours I will let you know. Jo sorry you are having issues at home. How is Sophie feeling? Vix enjoy your Zumba class.

    Hi
I walked some Steps, The Dew Point is in the 70s and it was 77 degrees on the porch and the weather report on TV at 6AM and not comfortable, As I did not get a good nights sleep either taken altogether I did not go to far. I came home and laid down for a while and am now feeling somewhat better. Thunderstorms in the forecast too :(
Yesterday I ended up close to 12K steps for the day.

Any Stephen King fans out there?

Spike TV has started running a series based on the Mist Thursday nights at 10. The first episodes next showing is Saturday at 4PM and others showed up in the Guide when I looked. The Movie from 2007 is also showing on IFC Sunday at 11:15PM.
The Mist is a 2007 American science-fiction horror film based on the 1980 novella of the same name by Stephen King.

On Wednesday, when I did a test on Chinese Food for lunch. The Snow Peas, String Beans and Broccoli Diet meal with the sauce on the side and a small order of Bone In Spare Ribs...
That seemed to work OK as I was down in weight on Thursday and held the same weight today. That weight FWIW is lower than when I went to Harold's last Friday so Yea!

We could not find the Sticky Fly Ribbons we thought we had left so I ordered them from Amazon. When I unpacked them that is when I found the Old ones :) Actually they had been hidden by the quarts of 1% milk on the shelf :( Yesterday I picked up 5 kinds of fruit and 2 quarts of the Milk since I had put the last on in the refrigerator to become nicely chilled. The ones I bought are good on the shelf until April 18, 2018.

    From the Chicago Tribune
    http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/columnists/kass/ct-dissolving-illinois-kass-met-20170620-column.html
What to do with a broken Illinois: Dissolve the Land of Lincoln
    John Kass Reporter Chicago Tribune
    June 20, 2017
Illinois is like Venezuela now, a fiscally broken state that has lost its will to live, although for the moment, we still have enough toilet paper.

But before we run out of the essentials, let's finally admit that after decade upon decade of taxing and spending and borrowing, Illinois has finally run out of other people's money.

Those "other people" include taxpayers who've abandoned the state. And now Illinois faces doomsday.

So as the politicians meet in Springfield this week for another round of posturing and gesturing and blaming, we need a plan.

    And here it is:

Dissolve Illinois. Decommission the state, tear up the charter, whatever the legal mumbo-jumbo, just end the whole dang thing.

We just disappear. With no pain. That's right. You heard me.

The best thing to do is to break Illinois into pieces right now. Just wipe us off the map. Cut us out of America's heartland and let neighboring states carve us up and take the best chunks for themselves.

Illinois hasn't had a state budget for years. The state continues to spend money it doesn't have, and the state's credit ratings have dropped, increasing the cost of borrowing more money we don't have to keep the rotten shebang going.

Bills pile up; Moody's Investor Service says taxpayers are on the hook for $251 billion in unfunded public union pension liabilities.

    WOW

    Have a Great Friday

Would You believe my Brother tried them too along with Michaels, Bed Bath and Beyond, Home Depot and the Grocery store, so weird. This is the time of year they seem to get into the house from out in the yard almost every time the door is opened. Did I mention I hate flies ?

I remember that. I know it is due to the type of water heater You have however it still seems weird to me that water heaters and furnaces have fans for the exhaust.

    Enjoy the Zumba

    Hi Joanne
I was wondering what happened to You.
That is one reason we keep a Landline. If everything is on the Cable or Fios and it has problems it can be tough.

I hope that when You say the water heater let go You do not mean it flooded anything.

    Good Luck with Sophie.

I I had not thought of having Steamed Chicken and Vegetables, Thanks for the suggestion. I may try that with sauce on the side again. That way I control the application and TBH I do not need a lot of sauce on the Chinese foods.

I have cut way back on things I add, I suspect my taste buds have improved, For example I used to use a lot of cheese on my cheeseburgers. Now with the NS Hamburger or Sausage Egg Muffin I use 1/2 slice of Velveeta broken into two unequal sized parts to cover the meat. And I find that is enough to give the cheese taste and a 1/2 slice is 20 calories too.

I would have though that Not having flies land on the food would have been more important too. The worst thing I ever saw with prepackaged supermarket food was a item with a fly wrapped into it, Yuck !

Have a Good and Restful Weekend

Irene-good luck with Amazon. If you want to go back to work, I hope they can find something for you to do. Enjoy your pool this weekend. :)
Roger-Yes the basement got flooded when the water heater let go. I discovered it after I went to wash my hands after working in the yard and there was no hot water. A few boxes got wet and 2 rugs. The rugs were old and we were eventually going to get rid of them, this just made it sooner. The steamed chicken and veggies that I get doesn't have any sauce on it. Thats why I said it tasted plain. Thanks for the humor, I will check it out next.
    Vix-Enjoy your weekend.
The vet thinks Sophie has some sort of Cryptococcus fungal infection. I have medicine to give her once a day and I have to bring her to the vet on Monday for a blood antigen titers and then again in 3 weeks to check again to see if the meds are working.
    Have a good night. :)

    Hi
I decided not to go walking for several reasons . I Had a poor nights sleep as I kept having my sleep interrupted by waves of rain hitting the window AC. Then when I did get up I turned on the local Cable news Channel and the weather radar is showing heavy rain headed my way. Not to far south there is a Tornado warning and the weatherman was saying the the radar is showing the classic hook shape indicating a tornado could be on the ground. Just now the radio is saying that the radar is looking better so that the warning has been cancelled. However High winds with winds up to 70 MPH are indicated.

The temperature this morning was 72 on the news channel and 73 degrees on the front porch with rain.

    Have a Great Weekend

Thats why I said it tasted plain. Thanks for the humor, I will check it out next.
    Vix-Enjoy your weekend.
The vet thinks Sophie has some sort of Cryptococcus fungal infection. I have medicine to give her once a day and I have to bring her to the vet on Monday for a blood antigen titers and then again in 3 weeks to check again to see if the meds are working.
    Have a good night. :)
    Hi Joanne
I'm sorry to hear that happened to You. I have seen on the TV show "This Old House" in the past that the water heater can be installed in a catch pan and a sensor set into that pan that shuts off the water to the water heater if it should leak in the future. They have also shown sump pump setups that use a battery backup to run a pump in case of power outages. And they also showed one that used water pressure to run a pump.

I suspect two or three neighbors have had the same thing happen with deeper water however as they brought in a flooding cleanup company that also did drying.

Hmm... I looked on the takeout menu and nothing showed steamed as steamed except Broccoli, However they have Chicken with Mixed Vegetables where I can just order as no sauce or sauce on the side that would also work.
I have a Doctors appointment for a physical coming up and from there it is only a short walk to the Chinese so I may combine them Monday.

    Good Luck Monday with Sophie

    Good afternoon;
We got our phone fixed this morning. We needed a new outside connection.
Now we just need to work on getting Sophie better.
Roger-It rained heavily for a few hours this morning and it is extremely humid. I am glad I have AC in the house. Right now the sun is shinning and everything is drying up.
Irene-the water heater is all set, we had to get a new one. Hopefully we will be all set for the next 7-10 years.
    Have a great weekend. :)

And I managed to not post yesterdays humor :( so today is a a double post of Saturday and Sunday Humor :)

    Hi
I did some walking today and I will be going out shortly to do the mowing which should give me my exercise for the day. The temperature this morning was 70 on the news channel and 66 degrees on the front porch with a decent humidity level.

You would think the day off on Saturday would help, Oh well, Maybe if I had slept better last night :)
Tomorrow is a D Day, Doctors visit with fasting. That will throw my entire morning off. Normally I get up, drink a protein shake, walk, have a banana on the return home and then later Breakfast. I am thinking of not going walking ahead of the Doctors visit sine my plan is to walk up there and then get coffee for the return leg as well as looking at the Fruits in the nearby Produce store and Grocery Store. Since that is the plan I will take the back pack when I head out.

There may have been a Tornado in south Jersey, It sure looked like one in the cellphone video that was shown on the news. It had not been confirmed by the National Weather Service as of last night however.

The News reports are full of IMO poor grammar. As an example yesterday in NYC there was a drive by shooting where the driver and the passenger were both hit. The news report said "The Driver Somehow managed to drive to the Police Precinct". It would have made just as much sense if they had said that "The Driver managed to drive to the Police Precinct". IMO the Somehow was completely redundant :(

    Have a Really Good Sunday
