Good evening;
I caught the squirrel right after he bit the head off of the sunflower. I went and yelled at him that it wasn't very nice of him to do that. He dropped the sunflower and hopped over the fence. I then googled what to do to prevent them from eating my flowers. One option was to put citrus peels down, so I peeled a bag of clementines and spread the peels all around my flowers. I hope it works.
It was in the 90's here also. I stopped on my way home from work and got an ice cream cone.
I got the kiddy size, but it was still a lot of ice cream, and I ate every bite, yum.

Roger-I haven't had any trouble with the moving pictures downloading.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/06/14/virginia-gop-baseball-practice-shooting-multiple-people-shot.html
House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was shot in the hip and multiple Congressional aides were hit by a gunman with a rifle who opened fire at a baseball practice in Virginia Wednesday morning, Fox News confirmed.
At least one aide was shot in the chest.
Both @POTUS & @VP are aware of the developing situation in Virginia. Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected.
— Sean Spicer (@PressSec) June 14, 2017
The gunman was shot by U.S. Capital Police, apprehended and taken to the hospital. Sen. Mike Lee told Fox News, however, the gunman was dead. Rep. Mo Brooks reportedly used a belt as a tourniquet to stop Scalise's bleeding.
Hi
I walked 6400 Steps + 11 cents during todays walk. The temperature this morning was 74 on the news channel and 74 degrees on the front porch. The predicted high for today is the low 80s. Yesterday some locations in NJ hit 99 degrees and at LaGuardia Airport in NY they set a new record high at 101 degrees.

Cash-strapped Houston sells off $2M worth of city streets
The city of Houston held a yard sale of sorts last week, dusting off some possessions it doesn't use anymore and offering them for sale or swap to its neighbors.
In this case, City Council approved selling or swapping almost $2 million worth of city streets and utility easements. That won't correct the more than $100 million budget deficits city officials project for the next five years, but it's not peanuts.
The first example came in Manchester, where council abandoned and sold several streets and easements to the adjacent Valero refinery for $1.4 million.

Sorry no humor today as I am in a state of disgust with the shooting in VirginiaGood morning.
Roger, didn't notice any slow down from moving images. Another 90s day here too. Just going to play with clay, and maybe run a few errands while I'm in Westminster. Will mostly be in the air conditioning.
Enjoy the day!
Hi Vix
Thank You for the feedback, I'm on high speed internet, over 200meg speed so I would not be able to tell.
I stayed in the AC mostly too, although around Noontime I did hook up the little grill and grill two of the $1.50 each steaks my brother dragged home from the supermarketGood morning.

Your post about Ice cream reminded me about the following which was on the local cable news channel this morning
http://www.upi.com/Odd_News/2017/06/13/Philadelphia-shop-offering-pizza-flavored-ice-cream/1381497380265/
June 13 (UPI) -- A Philadelphia ice cream shop is taking advantage of its proximity to a pizza museum by offering scoops of pizza-flavored ice cream.
Little Baby's Ice Cream in the Fishtown neighborhood created the pizza ice cream flavor, Circa reported, as an homage to Pizza Brain, a museum located near the shop, and the flavor has been a hit with patrons.
The ice cream contains crushed tomatoes, salt, crushed red pepper, oregano, raw garlic paste, and basil.
The flavor has proven popular with patrons, with some adventurous ice cream lovers taking their scoops directly atop a slice of pizza.

Hi Joanne
I have been blaming Deer for the flower leaves being eaten. I was walking past one of our crossing guards home this morning and You can see where they have been decimating his Lillies. We talked for a couple of minutes until he had to go do his crossing guard thing.
It could be the squirrels that ate the seeds out of the Sunflowers last year however, OTOH give the size of the missing pieces ?
Thank You for the Feedback too.
BTW, I think I'll pass on the Pizza flavored Ice Cream. This time of year when a nice cold cone would go so nice, I also know that I would feel the heat worse for the next days from the sugars in it.
Cheers
Roger0 -
Good evening;
Roger-I will pass on the pizza flavored ice cream. Terrible about the shooting in Virginia and the fire in London. Lately there doesn't seem to be any good news.
Hi Irene and Vix.
My flowers were not eaten today. I am hoping it is the citrus peel working.

I would pass on it too, however I suspect my Brother would try it...
When I saw the Video from London the first thing that popped into my head was the older movie "The Towering Inferno" Hollywoods version did not look that bad. It was so sad. Between that and the Shooting in Virginia I did not feel like posting humor yesterday. Then in the afternoon I saw Three shot dead on the west coast in a UPS facility. The world is going crazy.
Good Luck with the flowers

Hi
I walked 4700 Steps during today's walk. The temperature this morning was 65 on the news channel and 68 degrees on the front porch. The reported humidity is 100% and when I looked out the Living Room window before walking, the street was wet except under trees where it was dry, thus the rain that had fallen must have been light so far. The weatherman is predicting spotty rain and Thunderstorms for NJ

Ominous signs for states as revenue targets missed
By Reid Wilson - 06/15/17 10:00 AM EDT
Two out of every three states in America took in less tax revenue than expected this year, the worst performance since the depths of the recession, and twenty states expect to address budget shortfalls in the coming year.
The new data, contained in three reports released by state budget analysts this week, raise concerns that states could face a new round of belt-tightening — and that another economic slowdown could be just around the corner.
The reports cite a variety of factors behind the revenue slowdowns, from falling commodity prices to the rising costs of government services. Some of the slowdown also likely comes from wealthy taxpayers and corporations, which have delayed some tax payments until next year in hopes that tax reform proposals will pass Congress.
Thirty-three states will miss revenue projections in Fiscal Year 2017, according to the National Association of State Budget Officers. That’s the highest number of states to miss revenue targets since 2010, during the middle of the recession, when 36 states missed projections.
In total, states anticipate revenues falling short by $12 billion. Most of the shortfall comes from sales tax collections, which are projected to be down $6.6 billion. That troubles some economists because sales taxes are traditionally the most stable revenue sources for states.

ROSWELL, Ga. - Authorities were called to the neighborhood where Karen Handel lives in Roswell after suspicious envelopes were found in mailboxes Thursday afternoon.
Police say Roxburg Drive off Old Alabama Road was shut down for several hours while crews investigated.
At least five homes in the neighborhood received an envelope with a "white powdery substance" in it.
The FBI was called in to take the lead on the investigation.

Hi Vix
Hi Irene0 -
Good morning, guess I didn't get here yesterday. You have to read the news considering the source. Most news sources are biased one way or the other. The WashingtonTimes, much like Fox news tends to report without verification, and with sensationalism. And as far as government agencies wasting time on y2k...extremely doubtful. Everyone I knew that worked for the gov't was done with that by the end of January 2000. If regs are still there, they are being ignored...it will take man-hours to get rid of them, but it's just a clean up job.
Our country needs acurate, unbiased reporting. We need leaders that understand and care about our laws and what the country needs. If we let corporations and the ultra rich take over, we will lose/overburden our middle class and the poor will become poorer.
Anyway...
Good luck with your pool, Irene.
Pretty sunflower and gold finch, Jo. (We've got them too...love all the birds and flowers!)
Roger, sounds like a big meal...the carrot cake looks delish, but also looks like enough for a whole family! Sounds like you did ok, and you should be back to normal in a few days.

Good morning;
Roger- I bought the sunflowers at the garden store and they were already in bloom, I just transplanted them into other pots. That carrot cake looks yummy. We went out for BBQ yesterday for lunch. I had pulled chicken, rib, mac and cheese and corn bread. I ate 1 rib and a little of the pulled chicken, mac and cheese and the corn bread. I took the rest home. I didn't get any dessert. I only ate a piece of fruit for dinner, as I was still full from lunch.
I will know later when I step on the scale, how much damage I did.

Hi
I walked 29 Steps during today's walk according to the FitBit
To explain why, I noticed before I left that the display was off so I changed the battery and as a result the clock was off and showing 12:11 so I am theorizing that while I was out it was recording and then when I powered up the computer it synchronized the time and said, Oh, look it is a new day and the step count for today started fresh with the steps I had done walking be credited to Saturdays count
The temperature this morning was 70 on the news channel and 71 degrees on the front porch with 100% humidity. When I looked out the Living Room window before walking, the street was somewhat wet except under trees where it was dry, thus the rain that had fallen must have been light so far. The weatherman is predicting spotty rain and Thunderstorms for NJ once again
There is something outside that is causing my nose to run a sneezes so I did not stay out that long as I am much better in the house.

Drive-in movies thrive in a streaming world
Melanie D.G. Kaplan, USA TODAY Go Escape magazine 8:04 a.m. ET June 17, 2017
Last year, while visiting national parks in Colorado, I happened upon a real treat: Star Drive In, an outdoor theater that opened in 1955 in the southern part of the state. But my delight didn’t end there.
Next door, I found the Best Western Movie Manor Motel, where you can look out a big window and watch the Star’s outdoor screen … from your bed! Each room is named for a movie star. Booking a night at the motel was a no-brainer. I checked into my no-frills Mel Gibson room and crawled into bed for the feature.
According to Wheeler Winston Dixon, a film expert at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the first drive-ins appeared in 1933 in Camden, N.J. They hit their peak midcentury with about 4,000 locations, roughly one-quarter of the nation’s total movie screens. Now, he says, they account for just 1.5 percent.

Candidates in Georgia Special Election Brace for Final Weekend
The race has dragged on for months — Ossoff narrowly missed a chance to win outright in April, running against a multi-candidate GOP field and coming a few thousand votes short of the necessary 50 percent threshold — and it's become by far the most expensive House race ever waged, with Ossoff raising an astonishing $23.8 million, most of it from outside the district.
