    Good afternoon;
Vix-I am usually sore the day after I see the massage therapist. I figure he is working muscles that I don't normally. 102 is amazing, happy birthday to your mother-in-law. :)
The polka dot plants sounds interesting. I stopped at the nursery on my way home from work and bought 4 balloon flower plants, 4 sunflower and 4 First blush cushion spurge. The cushion spurge is a new one for me. I have been looking for yellow daylillies. I found other colors but not yellow. They are called Stella D'oro.
Roger-101 years young, a cause for celebration. Todays it is 66 degrees here, turned out to be a beautiful day. It was raining when I went to work.
    Hi Irene.
    Have a great evening. :)

    Hi Irene

    Hi Joanne
If I said I never heard of Balloon Flower or Cushion Splurge plants :)

One thing You could try is see if neighbors have Yellow Daylillies that they would share or order from a Nursery such as Jungs.

Your weather seems to run a day behind mine :)

    Cheers

    Humor today too

    Hi
I walked 7000 Steps during today's morning walk. The temperature this morning is 54 on the news channel and 52 degrees on the front porch. I ended up the day yesterday with 9.5k steps. Considering where I shall end up for a step count today after yard work later on I should be fine for step count from Wednesday through Today if not over.

I talked to a crossing guard this morning and he is also having a problem with those walking appetites known as deer eating his flowers, They came back and ate the ones he had sprayed with deer repellent too, Which is something I had been considering :(

I recently had what I suspect was a scam visitor at the front door. I Young lady wanted to see my Electric Bill, and when I Said I don't have it wanted my name. I suspect That acceding to either of those requests would have ended badly with my electric supplier being switched.

I should call PSE&G later today and let them know to watch for that possibility just in case.

    Have a Great Friday

    Hi Irene
If I said it is hard to believe it supposed to be in the 80s today considering how cold it was walking this morning ?

In one way I will be glad to have warmer weather, OTOH I am not appreciative that I will have to run the AC units.
There goes the electric bill :(

Later today we put one of the Big 220 Volt AC units in a window. It just fits too.

    Cheers

Good morning. It was beautiful weather this a.m., and supposed to warm up to 81 today. Not looking forward to the 90s this week. I too, will probably stay in the air conditioning.
Hope that cold leaves you alone, Irene.
Roger, I liked the Noah one too....and the others. Those alternate electric providers do get tricky. We haven't had one in a while...best to send them on their way with no personal information, I agree.
Went to zumba this a.m. and getting my hair colored this afternoon....I keep going lighter with it....some day I may be blonde.
    Enjoy the sunshine!

    Hi Vix
Here it is at 12:45, the front porch which gets solar heating from the sun is showing 88 degrees and The outdoors thermometer in the back yard and in the shade is already showing just under 84 degrees :)

I try and use the cream of the crop for the humor :) Enjoy

I know better than to show anything with an account number :) And if they look up the property ownership it will not match the name on the Utility bills either.

Usually what we get at the Door are Jehovah witnesses, Replacement windows types and Driveway repair types. The latter often use the line we were just working down the street and happened to have material left over we can give a good price on. Ha!
I find that hard to believe when they are working both sides of the street simultaneously and are neatly dressed, not looking like worker types.

One thing that helps with sales types is asking to see the permit from the town allowing them to go door to door, Yes the town has such a thing.

Well off to dig up the electric bill and give them a call

    Good afternoon,
It is 76 here and there is a nice breeze. The sun keeps going in and out.
I worked this morning and then went grocery shopping. I also planted the plants I bought the other day in 3 big pots and set them on the deck.
Vix-I keep getting lighter and lighter also, I am almost white blonde. A few people at work started calling me blondie. :)
We have a hawk flying around the neighborhood. I can hear him squawking.
It just got dark and started raining and the wind has picked up.
Irene-I hope your allergies clear up soon.
Roger-I usually peek out the window and if it looks like someone selling something I don't open the door, some of them can be pretty persistent.
Have a good rest of the afternoon and evening. :)

We usually get pest control people or lawn care coming around. It's in the 80s here, but not too hot, there's a little breeze.
There are a lot of hawks in our area (and vultures) because there are a lot of farms. The geese also flock to the farms to pick at the leftovers in fields. I can tell when there's a hawk in the neighborhood, because all the small birds start hiding and being quiet.
Jo, I'm pretty happy with the lighter colors. The dark brown was getting too stark looking.
Have a good evening everyone. :)

    Hi Joanne
I will be heading out to the Produce store for a price check and possibly the Grocery Store for Apples depending on who has the better price since I can walk to both easily :) The Grocery Store according to their circular has two types of Apples on sale at $0.69 a pound.

We also need to plant some plants my brother picked up on sale and Put his large 220 volt AC unit in the Bedroom Window.

They can be a persistent as they like, I'm not buying. However since I am retired I have no problem with wasting there time :)

Hmm... No Rain here, therefor I did water some things that felt dry including the Carrots and Beets that have sprouted and the Basil that has not sprouted yet.

    Have a Nice Day

    Hi Vix
We also seem to have Hawks and Vultures in the area. I have seen the Vultures perched on a roof three blocks from the house and once on a neighbors fence post across the street from the house. I can pretty much tell what they are in the air from the way they circle riding the thermals.

The Darn Geese are Noisy and not at all nice sounding when flying over and they leave a mess on the Fields, Sidewalks and Playgrounds around the grade school :( If I use those I have to watch where I step.

I expect that Today will be the last halfway decent day for a few days. When I see HHH AKA Hot, Hazy & Humid in the weather forecast I become unhappy.

    Have a Good Day

    Good morning.
Roger, we're starting the HHH today...going up to 87, and then the 90s for most of the week. It's nice so far this morning. I have a good friend who used to be the volunteer coordinator for the city of Monterey, Ca. One of the things she used to have to get volunteers for was cleaning up after geese at one of the local parks that had a lake. She said they made such a mess it was unusable. I guess in the farm fields it's just natural fertilizer. ;)
Going to straighten the house a little today, and I want to check the thrift store...I need an 18X24" picture frame for one of my paintings. They often have some bargains. Then going out to dinner and a winery with some friends tonight. Nice day.
    Happy Weekend, everyone. :)

Humor has been posted taking into account the feedback, Thank You for that.

    Hi
I walked 7500 Steps during today's morning walk. The temperature this morning is 69 on the news channel and 67 degrees on the front porch. I ended up the day yesterday with 10.8k steps. After yard work later on after we returned from the Produce store where I checked their prices and the Grocery Store was lower according to their flyer so I walked down there and back to the truck where my brother was patiently waiting. I was mistaken when I said they had two types of apples on sale what was on sale was D'Anjou Pears and Red Delicious Apples :)

On the way to the 90s already.at 8:45 it is 82 degrees :( No wonder I was starting to feel warm walking today.

Some humor from a post elsewhere on this forum :)

    Hi Vix
Thankfully the humidity was not too bad this morning. According to the weather forecast it is supposed to hit later today and hang around along with a air quality alert for the next couple of days too.

I have also heard of them fouling ponds. They are a pest in this area especially since they no longer migrate.

You Said "Going to straighten the house a little today" and the first thing that popped into my mind was, I wonder how long it has been tilted? :) If I said I sometimes have a warped sense of humor ?

I hope You had an enjoyable time with the Dinner and Winery

Cat boat is interesting. Haha, my house is not tiltled, just a little messy.
Went for a walk this morning before it gets too hot.
Last night was fun. We went to the winery where they have one of my favorite wines, so we bought a couple of bottles...it's called Indulgence, and it's a chocolate wine. yum. I will save them for special occasions. :)
    Have a great day.

Gorgeous day. We power washed the deck and patio this morning. I did laundry, washed the kitchen and dining room floors, rearranged one of the spare rooms and went through some books that I haven't looked in probably 10 years. I will donate them. Hubby is now taking a nap and I am waiting for him to wake up so we can have lunch.
Vix-Is the chocolate wine a dessert wine?
Roger-thankfully we don't have any geese in our area. They can be very messy.

I try to recylcle any books I buy fairly quickly. I rarely read a book more than once. I'm only allowing myself two shelves of books at a time. One shelf is craft and reference books which I keep, the other books to read and then share. When we moved I donated a lot of books.

    Humor Plus today

    Hi
I walked4000 Steps + 5 pennys from 4 locations during today's walk. The temperature this morning is 71 on the news channel and 71 degrees on the front porch. I ended up the day yesterday with 9600+ steps.

Why the short walk You may be wondering, I was a little depressed as just before I left for my walk the Window AC started giving out a loud shrieking noise as of a dry bearing. I turned it off and went walking, however I did want to get back after it had some time to defrost just in case it was only iced up, however I suspect that even if it is OK right now I need to look for a small physical size unit for where it fits and keep it in mind just in case.

Yesterday I had a sudden hankering for a dish Mom used to make, Start out cooking loose Ground Beef & Onions then add Pork & Beans and stirs until warm, serve. And of course Franks & Beans :)
I can do either of those using the NS Chicken with beans Dinner by counting the chunk of chicken as a PF and adding the other ingredients and stay pretty much on plan too.
What created the hankering? My Brother was cooking some 90% from on sale Hamburger with Onions and naturally smell is a huge trigger for that sort of thing :)

Yesterday he brought home the 2.5 dozen eggs that are on sale for $1.99 to hard boil, and some small packages of Top Round London Broil that were on sale all well under $2 :)

ANAHEIM >> Seventeen people had a crappy day at the Happiest Place on Earth.

They enjoyed the Disneyland just fine. But they were hit by a mass of droppings from a flock of geese.

It was dramatic enough to bring police and firefighters to the Magic Kingdom.

The Anaheim Police Department says they answered a call that guests had been hit with fecal matter, but determined it was from a flock of geese that flew over and no crime occurred. Eleven adults and six kids were hit, but none were hurt.
Police say all guests are now healthy and happy.

House Explodes in Fiery Blast in Piscataway; 1 Hurt: Officials
Gas was suspected as the cause of the explosion
    http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/House-Explodes-in-Piscataway-Hopkinson-Avenue--427764393.html
A house exploded early Sunday in Piscataway and the homeowner was burned, but survived the fiery blast, witnesses said.

The house on Hopkinson Avenue was completely leveled. The burned-out shell of a car could be seen amid the smoldering remains.

Mayor Brian Wahler said gas appears to be the cause, citing "the size of the explosion - the house was blown off its foundation. And there's literally nothing left of the house."

The homeowner, who is a municipal worker for a nearby town, was blown outside of the house by the force of the blast, officials said.

I am guessing that the Patio is stone or cement and that the Deck could be a wood or synthetic surface? I understand that You need to be careful pressure washing wood so as not to damage it?

My thermometer is reading 96. Work was warm today. I only had a short sleeve shirt on.
Usually I have on 2 long sleeved shirts and a vest because it is so cold.
Roger-Yes the patio is cement and the deck is synthetic. I love hamburger and onions. My mom used to cook, hamburger, peppers and onions and add a can of stewed tomatoes. She served this over mashed potatoes. It was yummy.
Vix-I am not a wine drinker, but your wine does sound nice. I would give it a try. The reason I don't drink wine is because it gives me an almost instant headache.

My flowers in the pots on the deck look a little wilted. I will give them a good drink today.

    Hi Joanne
Your comment regarding wine triggered a memory and I did a little research :)
Why Does Certain Wine Give Me A Headache?

    Culprit One – Tannins:
    Culprit Two – Sugar:
    Culprit Three – Histamines:

More Details are available by following the link I embedded.

I believe the synthetics are a lot more durable than a wood deck would be.
In fact I recently saw the Municipal workers power washing the Decks that are out on pilings in the park's lake.

I have also been known to Loose cook the ground beef and then stir in the Ketchup and Relish or onions and or shredded Cheddar to use as a easy sandwich filling when I reheat it :)

OTOH I have used a lot of weird sandwich fillings, such as Mashed or chunks of Potato or the Hamburger/Onions/Beans mix :)

It is always easier to add clothes to be warm than to get cool when it is too hot IMO.

Good Luck with the potted plants.

Hi all. I can't drink much alcohol any more, but one little glass once in a while is nice. In the 90s here too until after tomorrow.
I tried the pilates class today for 1/2 hour, didn't really like it, and hubs didn't like it either. So, I'll be going to the gym by myself on Mondays and just go directly to the deep water aerobics class and stay for the full hour.
That pool sounds nice just about now, Irene! I know you'll enjoy it. :)
Mmmmmm....who doesn't love hamburger and onions! My mom used to mix it with tomato sauce and serve over pasta.

    Hi Vix
Mom used to only use the ground beef without onions in her home made tomato gravy.
Me being lazy, I would go simple a jar of Ragu with Mushrooms and 1 to 1.5 pounds of loose cooked Ground beef over the Pasta. Did I mention I like a meaty dish? That would be the smaller size jar too. And of course a stick of Butter melted into the pound of Pasta. A quick easy meal that could be used over several days.

We also used to have Italian Sweet Sausages and home made Pork Skin Braciole AKA Braciole di Cotenna
That would be Pig skin rolled up with Chunks of diced Garlic and Tied then fried until the skin starts turning translucent, then You throw it into the Tomato Gravy AKA Spaghetti sauce. Also There would be Beef Neckbones and Pork Neckbones, They used to be cheap and easy to get at the supermarket when I was Young. Yup that far back :)

I am sorry that the Pilates did not work for either of You, Luckily there are alternatives.

I was never a large wine drinker TBH

    Have a Nice Evening

    Hi
I walked 5700 Steps during today's walk. The temperature this morning was 74 on the news channel and 75 degrees on the front porch. It is 82 degrees on the backyard thermometer already as of 7:30 :( Yesterday some locations set a new record high at 97 degrees.
