    Hi all.
Went to the park and walked today. My cleaning service was here this morning, so the house is nice and clean. I've made the corn bread for the stuffing today, and will make the cranberry sauce and cheesecake. Hubby ordered a bench for our mud room and that came today, and he put it together. It's nice. Good to have a place to sit in there and change our shoes!
Roger, the "classes" are at the Sr. Ctr. The cost is minimal. Stained glass and clay we pay each time we go, the painting and drawing class,we pay $25 for 8 weeks, they add a week if we miss one for weather.
Jo, apple pie sounds yummy. My Mom used to make apple pies and lemon merangue pies with crust that tasted like vanilla cookies....they were good. I'm going to make a pumpkin cheese cake with sour cream topping, and gingersnap crust. I've never tried it before, but it sounds good!
Irene, it was not as cold as I thought it would be on the walk today, but I did wear layers and a scarf/hood to keep my head warm. Hope you're having a great birthday!
    Happy Wednesday, everyone.

P.S. it is only the farmed Turkeys that can not fly I seem to remember that wild Turkeys fly quite well if they need to. It is the ones that have been bred to have huge breast that can't.

    Hello Irene
It isn't that I like it better, The reason I am trying it out is that the posts that were held for moderator approval, Some of them never made it and were deleted since the Moderator though they were duplicates from my trying more than once. Thus this way if that happens again only one will need approval. Hence My trying it this way. I also sort of wondered if anybody else felt like joining in, Originally others were using it too.
I am the only one using that challenge for quite a while, everybody else dropped out, I now use it as a place to put my thoughts in order and had been copying it to the posts. I started it and expected it to run May 23, 2016 to July,3 2016, Oh Well it is what it is.

    Happy Birthday

    Hello Irene
Both My Brother and I used to get a free Frozen Turkey from work for years. I am somewhat surprised considering that where You work meaning they get them at cost this is the first year for You.

    They Sound Frugal TBH.

It would be nice to have someone else there. That sort of accountability can help with motivation IMO.

Homemade Cranberry Sauce is sitting in the refrigerator waiting. Pumpkin Pie and heavy Cream ready to become Whipped Cream too. The Two Pumpkin Pies are enough for us this holiday, Possibly Apple or some other for Christmas/New Years Day meal.

FWIW in the past I have had the ShopRite Very Berry Pie and Wow, so good that I ate way to much. If You are curious I did see this recipe
    https://tastesbetterfromscratch.com/triple-berry-pie/
    and this one too
    https://www.mrssmiths.com/products/original-flaky-crust/original-flaky-crust-very-berry.htm
The Raspberries give it a sweet and tart taste IMO. So Good

The Turkey went into the oven at 6:30 and the internet cooking guides indicated that our Turkey should take 5 1/2 hours ate 350 degrees to cook, then pull out the meat thermometer and check the Thigh and stuffing to be sure they are at least 165 degrees.

Hmm... Is the Birthday greeting for Irene or did someone spill the beans that I turned 71 this month ?

Either way have a Happy Thanksgiving

Hi, Going back to how I had been doing it unless I get another warning that post is being held for moderation to approve it.

I'm back home from walking and once again nothing found. The Temperature out the door was 12 degrees. The weather feels more like Mid winter in temperature. Yesterday broke some record cold temperatures and The 12 degrees will be breaking records too. According to the weather forecasts I saw Yesterday came in as the second coldest Thanksgiving day.

    Hi Vix
I had this set to reply to and then overlooked it somehow, Oops.

I do not recall ever having had Corn Bread Stuffing.

A place to sit down and change from outdoors to indoors shoes makes sense to me. We do not have a Mud Room as such, We have a Enclosed Front porch that keeps inclement weather off while fumbling for the Front Door Key

Senior Centers are a great resource and it sounds as if the price is really low.

Your Cheese cake sounds as if it will be delicious. I wonder how a Pecan Crust would taste ?

    Hi Joanne
You would think I would have a reminder program in my computer, I do not however.

Thanksgiving Day was Good with one exception, That Exception being the overeating.
I ended up eating Buttered Egg Noodles, Mashed Potatoes and Bread Stuffing with some butter melting into them and smothered in Home Made Gravy. Sprouts and Asparagus Deviled Eggs that came out really tasty, A relish tray, And of course Home Made Pumpkin Pie. I passed on the Home Made Whipped Cream and never did get to the Home Made Cranberry sauce. Turkey Breast in my case covered in Gravy too.
Yikes, I will need until Christmas to fully recover I suspect. Then Come Two Holiday meals a week apart.
Later today or Tomorrow I plan on breaking down the Turkey into 9 ounce packages and feed the freezer with much of it. My Brother is planning to break down the Dressing into portions and we will Vacuum seal it as well as much of the Cranberry Sauce. I think that one of the Pumpkin Pies shall be Vacuum Sealed and frozen using a Pleated Vacuum bag that can take the pie, pan and all.

I hope You had a Good Holiday

    Hi Irene
You could think of me like the cartoon character Chilly Willy the Penguin that hated the cold.

I wore a Pocket T-shirt to hold my iPod, a thin Long sleeve shirt, a Sweatshirt and a heavy Hoodie due to cold weather outdoors. I just looked at the remote reading from the front porch and I see that it has dropped from the 12 degrees when I left and returned from walking and it has dropped to 11 degrees, I wonder if it will go lower ?

    Hi Vix
Me too, it was so delicious that Friday I ended up heating leftover Mashed Potatoes, Bread Stuffing with butter melted into them along with some homemade gravy. Then I followed that up with Turkey covered in Gravy. Then Brussels Sprouts, Asparagus, Some Green olives stuffed with Pimentos, Black Olives and some Sweet Gherkins followed up with a slice of Homemade Pumpkin Pie and Homemade Whipped cream topping the pie.

Today All the leftovers that are left get portioned up, Vacuum Sealed and Frozen. That should remove any temptations. I will leave some Turkey unfrozen to use for Proteins today.

We do not have a seat on the porch, it is not that large and some of the room is taken up with the Garbage Can, Recycle Can and Containers of Salt now that winter has arrived.

IMO Cheesecake done right is a winner. I am glad to hear Yours was a winner.

Thank You for the Birthday Wishes

    Hi Vix
Friday my Brother said he was Turkey'd out for a couple of days.
We count on or depend on leftovers from Thanksgiving and Christmas for our New Years Day Meal... So far we have Vacuum sealed and frozen Turkey, Gravy, Homemade Cranberry Sauce, and Stuffing. Maybe 1/2 of the second Pumpkin Pie too. Right now I have some of the leftover Turkey Breast in the refrigerator to use with my meals as the extra protein as I go back to the NS diet plan.

When I headed out the door there was a breeze so I felt some wind chill, then within a half hour that died away so it was comfortable despite being dressed a bit lightly.

    Have a Good Day

    Hi Irene
I think You are 110% correct about feeling like a stuffed turkey, I know I do, and that is despite being 100% NA yesterday.

There is nothing like the smell of a fresh Christmas Tree, From what I have been seeing on the TV news that is a good price.

Is that a fitted carpet or an area rug? Fitted can be a nuisance what with putting in the tack strips and tensioning the carpet onto them.

    Have a Nice Day

Normal it could be, But healthy ?

The needles can be a problem, I have been having a problem with the vacuum cleaner hose clogging easily. I found the problem the other day, I do not know how but I found the problem, It sucked up a paring knife, where and how I do not know :(

My brother is starting to talk about putting up the tree, Some rearranging needs to be done first.

I wonder if the Christmas show uses LED lights, I know I would do that.

    Cheers

I'm back home from walking and once again nothing found. The Temperature out the door was 42 degrees. There is rain in the forecast for late this morning or early afternoon into the evening hours.

good morning, Well we haven't gone yet for our walk George is still sleeping we will go after he wakes up. I got on the scale this morning up 3 pounds so back on my diet today I knew I put some weight on .We use led lights on our tree and on our fence outside it really looks nice. Our fitted carpet looks nice . Take care everyone
If You sleep later than usual IMO you needed it.

I have been afraid to get on the scale, I could tell I put on some weight by the hole I used in my belt.

The nice thing about LED lights is that they are miserly with electricity compared to the older lights. That holds for the old Vacuum Tube TV sets, and the HDTVs that used fluorescent bulbs for the back-lights. That includes the older laptops too.

    Good Luck walking
