    Good morning.
My diet is mostly vegetables and protein, nuts, a little fruit, a little whole grain for now. Still experimenting. No plans for today.
Going to be a hot one today, 89 and partly cloudy. Rain tomorrow.
    Happy Friday! :)
    Good Morning Vix
That sounds like a good diet, Nuts are reported to be good for a person and a source of protein too.

When I switch to Cold Cereal in two days for my breakfast Some of the cereals I will be rotating on different days are
Grape Nuts, Not the flakes the crunchy one. Wheaties, Rice Crispies, Raisin Bran, Cheerios and Shredded Wheat.

    I like a variety

That sounds like our forecast TBH.

hi all. well we got an offer on our house we did counter offer so we will see. Our weather for our walk was nice today we went almost an hour. George is taking a week off for vacation we aren't going any where there is some things I hope he gets done while he is home. Vix that's pretty cool that you won on your pictures congrats. take care everyone
    Good Morning Irene
Yesterdays walking was the best in a while, then this morning back to Warm and Humid, Darn It :(

This sounds like a perfect time to be on vacation or the newer thing called a staycation

I watch some house flipping shows on TV and that is a common thing that the buyer made a counter offer.

Good Luck with it, I might have a problem personally as I hate haggling. I tend to tell anyone like that right up front, make me Your best and only offer. I do not know if You ever heard of or shopped at Tops Appliance City, I use to buy electronics and AC units there. I tended to use the same salesman as he knew not to bother me pushing a extended warranty and offer the best price after buying a couple of times.

I hope this is the end of selling the house and it closes quickly for You

Vix-Congratulations! :) That is exciting news.
Irene-good luck on your house sale. You are ahead of me in finding money. I found a penny on my way into work yesterday and one on the way out.
Roger-It has been hot and humid here. I have been staying in the air conditioned house most of the time.
I had to buy a new coffee pot yesterday, mine just up and died. It was tax free weekend and I had a 20% off coupon to BBB.
It rained yesterday and is currently raining now. I will probably just stay in and house clean.

    Hi
I'm back home from walking 1 cent. The Temperature out the door was 72 degrees and uncomfortable while walking due to the dew point being in the oppressive range again :(
The rains appear to be gone for the time being and it did dry out somewhat overnight. Parts of NJ had over 4 inches of rain and flooding. This area I am in is located in a large area that was under a flash flood alert. We never see flooding on this street, other parts of town can flood where the roads cross over brooks.

    Hi Joanne
Me too, Things I could do outside, nothing critical OTOH and it is my brothers turn to Mow, which reminds me that the Gas can for the mower is empty. It is a tough one to open due to safety features.

I guess if the dog gone Coffee pot died it could have chosen a worse time.Tax free weekend, Just from curiousity what is the Sales Tax where You are ?
    NJs is here. https://rsmus.com/what-we-do/services/tax/state-and-local-tax/sales-and-use-tax/new-jersey-enacts-sales-tax-rate-reduction-and-estate-tax-phase-.html

New Jersey enacts sales tax rate reduction and estate tax phase-out
Tax policy agreement raises gas tax for first time in almost 30 years

On Oct. 14, 2016, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie signed Assembly Bill 12, providing for several state and local tax changes including a sales and use tax rate reduction, estate tax phase-out and an increase in the gas tax.

Effective Jan. 1, 2017, the state’s 7 percent sales tax rate is reduced to 6.875 percent, and effective Jan. 1, 2018, the rate is further reduced to 6.625 percent. This is the first change in the state sales and use tax rate since it was increased to 7 percent, from 6 percent, in July 2006

A gas tax increase resulting in an additional $.23 per gallon effective Nov. 1, 2016

The gas tax increase is the first in the state since 1988 and according to reports, will propel the state from the forty-ninth lowest rate to the top 10

I would rather have had the sales tax stay at 7% and kept the low gas Tax. I say that even though I only buy gas several times a year for the Buick.

It has been a rainy stretch of weather here too, OTOH it is saving on the water bill not having to water the garden
This is the same company we have for water, just that ours is called New Jersey American Water. Talk about crooks. look at this article. This was covered on the Nightly news for Saturday.
    https://www.newsday.com/long-island/nassau/cuomo-hempstead-reef-1.20403565
State attorney general probes New York American Water

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said in Point Lookout that high water bills from the company may be the result of "consumer fraud."

“Went up to almost $400 a month…That ain't water, that's gold,” says Peter Muller, of Seaford. “You can't get a tank of oil for the same as that water.”
    https://www.newsday.com/long-island/nassau/new-york-american-water-company-1.20178166
When New York American Water installed a new meter in her home earlier this summer, she said she thought it might save her money by providing more accurate readings.

But her first bill was more than three times her normal bill she said, $281 compared with a typical bill of $81. And some of her neighbors were seeing similar increases.

Those are high water bills, Roger. Taxes are odd, don't know why they would lower one and raise another...guess it will net them more money overall.
What kind of coffee pot did you get, Jo? I usually end up with a Mr. Coffee from Walmart when they go, just because it's convenient to run over there.

    Hi Vix
There is a hidden kicker in the increased gas tax, They can raise it easily, details here
    https://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2018/05/still_smarting_from_the_27-cent_gas_tax_hike_there.html
Still smarting from that 23-cent gas tax hike? It could go up again.
    Updated May 28, 2018 at 9:16 AM; Posted May 28, 2018 at 7:25 AM

So this update from state budget experts may smart: Gas tax collections are down and the tax rate may be increased later this summer to ensure it brings in enough cash to pay the bills for road and rail projects around the state.

"If we're about $100 million shy ... that's about a 2-cent increase to maintain that level of revenue, and there may be another cent or two in play if there's a gap to be made up," Frank Haines, budget and finance officer for the nonpartisan Office of Legislative Services, told the Assembly Budget Committee.

Will your gas tax hike vanish if sales tax is raised?

"You could be looking at 2-to-4 cents, or something like that," he said, adding that each cent represents about $50 million in revenue for the state.

I currently use a Braun that Mom bought. It has spill safety features. If You remove the Coffee pot while it is dripping the basket has a valve that shuts off and thus no spill. If You swing the basket out while it is brewing it shuts off the flow also.

    Hi Irene
I did go further yesterday than today, Just so warm and humid that even with the light breeze I worked up a sweat :(

I need to help my brother pull the AC from the window, it is a big heavy 220V unit. The repair parts have arrived and hopefully they fix the problem where even when You turn it off the Compressor keeps running so he has been controlling it by turning off the breakers. A New Compressor Relay and Circuit Board, my Money is on the relay sticking FWIW. I am not looking forward to doing the repair either.

Good Luck With the House and the Counteroffer You made.

    Hi Joanne
I would have preferred keeping our sales tax at 7% and not messing with the gas tax TBH. If You follow the link I posted to Vix You can see why. They can raise it right away if revenues fall short due to less driving, more efficient cars or use of electric cars :(

How id the Cuisinart coffee pot ? Some of their items are pretty good.

That is small. I have a suspicion that there are no Hummingbirds in my area. OTOH a quick search showed this
    https://www.beautyofbirds.com/hummingbirdsnewjersey.html

    Print pdf Version
Hummingbirds found in New Jersey, USA

In New Jersey, the following hummingbirds are most commonly found ...

Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, Archilochus colubris - Native / Common - Usually arrive in mid to late April (especially around April 19 through 23) and early May - with males usually being the first to show up to stake out their feeding territories. Most leave toward the end of September and October. Males usually depart first, and females and juveniles follow about two weeks later.

So I may just not have noticed them.

    Floor and Decor, interesting.

    Hi Again
I gave up on Sunflowers, First the deer ate them off at the ground when they were a couple of inches high and the ones that survived they ate the flowers off of so no more Sunflowers. Strangely they did not seem to like the SunChokes which are in the sunflower family.

No flooding nearby, OTOH North of me in the area that had over 5 inches cars were washing downstream from a car dealership, both new ones and ones in for repair. It made for dramatic video on the TV news broadcasts.

I hope all goes well for You today

Thanks, I hope it goes quickly and easily too.
