It was an exhausting week. Back to work...school. Room not ready because of construction going on, power surges out our entire campus and lots of computers. Had to move to our high school. All of this and my 91 1/2 year old dad ended up in the ER because the antibiotic he was on thinned his blood more and he had internal bleeding. Had to have four units of blood and a trip to SICU for a vacation. Doing much better but had I left him alone on Thursday, he most likely would have died. Thanks to a wonderful boss who allowed me to go back and forth from all the meetings. Oh and I have one stressed out separation anxiety fur baby that is not letting me out of her sight. She ate part of a box of oatmeal raisin cookies but was nice to leave me some. I did get to walk a lot and today I made up for it with two hours of cutting grass and a nice 11/2 hour run. Praise God for His strength this week. It was by His grace that I got through this week. Phew!
Aug. 21:8 miles. A lot of walking and a short bike run to relief the stress.
Aug. 22: 16.82 Miles of which I ran for 8 miles until my right t band started bugging me and I walked 6.7 miles behind a mower and 2.12 miles with fur babies.
TTD: 254.88 miles
Here is a pic of him kayaking just 10 days ago.
My separation anxious fur baby Merit.

20 mile long run done. Too tired to comment. See you all tomorrow.0 -
Well our luck has run out here in the Willamette valley. Our town is in the narrow end. There is a wildfire burning somewhere nearby. Today's ride featured a dense smoke all the way to the ground, more dense than fog, heavy winds, and blowing ash in the air. By the time I finally finished I could hardly breath and now I have lost my voice. Now there are air quality warnings for the entire state of Oregon. Starting the Vuelta challenge with a bang!

@anaconda469: Take care of yourself and stay safe. I have been thinking of all you folks out there and all these fires. I pray no more lives are lost and we get some rain.0

@clepant what an eventful first week back! I hope everything settles down. Glad you were able to be there for your dad and I hope he is doing better!

Between walking laps at work, running 3.1 miles outside and crawling home doing a few more, I'm adding 6 miles today. Happily it was overcast which makes it much easier. I had intentions of coming home from work, getting out and doing it, but then reality set in and I realized I had lost my mind. A couple hours sleep and some coffee definitely makes it better.

Thank you for the kind sentiments. We have already lost 3 firefighters up in Washington. Here in Oregon, they are begging for volunteers. A new fire started up earlier this week, 20 miles from my home here in Newberg. It is near the Banks Vernonia trail. I sure hope we don't loose that multi-use trail. That would leave us cyclists back on the highways again.

Well another day of choking smoke. Fire started closer to home and there is no rain in the foreseeable future. But I go out in the morning before the winds really pick up. Makes it a bit easier to ride.

Like so many we're having weird weather, hot, heavy rain, electrical storms. My heart goes out to those experiencing the smoke and fires.
On a brighter note, my cyclist friend (self named 'the fat man on a bike') will be able to put 'Claud' back on the road for not too many GB£. DH not convinced I'll use it - but that may be wishful thinking on his part - convinced that other road users are dangerous??
@darkrider - so pleased you have reason to be optimistic at the moment.

@Chris - I don't know that I could have stopped 0.7 miles short. That would drive me nuts. I would have gotten back out and walked or rode another mile.0

I really can't wait until October or so when it gets cool enough for me to ride my bike more. As it is now I can only ride it back and forth to the gym when being super sweaty is ok. Once it gets cool enough I can ride it to the movies and on random errands again.0 -
CONGRATUALTIONS to Everyone who has made their goal this month. Great dedication. Now, I need to borrow a little of that dedication myself. I just finished up a second week of a work schedule that kicked my @$$. Now I need to start moving it instead. I did manage to get a little walking in between shifts, but not nearly enough to keep up.
So, I have added 12.75 miles in the last 5 days. August total 77.5 miles.
All I need to do is average a little over 7 miles a day to get this done. Time to take a deep breath, get off my tush and move it!
Have a great Monday all!
