    HI Girls-
Janet- glad to see your back and sounding like you again. I too hope to have some res and relaxation during the holidays.
Patti- I too like a few low fat foods but hate FF items. Its the same idea as all the other diets on the markets- when ever you wipe out foods it causes other issues of overeating.
I too am looking forward to Karla's info.
Making my grocery list and really thinking about how I can get on a good track. Yes, I'm struggling.
Going to proof LFK in electronic version.
    Talk to you all tomorrow.

Good evening ladies, wow it has been a really draining day. I was out the door at 7:40 after showering, doing my hair and packing my lunch. I trained for 8 hours straight with the new student. The office is in an uproar as the doctor told the others we were cutting hours and adding the new lady. I wish he had not done that. Oh well, I have to make the moves that are best for the office flow.

The WW site is in an uproar. The phone app is down most of the time now and the conversion messed up many member's weight and DP totals. Many are complaining of the tedious steps and others are wanting the GHG's back. WW response has been to wait until Dec 6th when they will explain all the nutrition changes and why the GHG's are not longer needed. I did read an interesting post by one of my friends on my other board about MFP that I did not know and think this might be really good for us. I'm going to try and do it with a recipe this weekend:

Quote: I’ve been spoiled with MFP and the new ww tracker is still a little behind MFP, for example, on MFP you can copy and paste a recipe from a website and it imports the ingredients and makes it a recipe. So what I just thought of is, I can use MFP to figure out the info to enter, and just enter it manually with the recipe name instead of individually adding each ingredient to a ww recipe, which is slow and annoying with my super “on the go” lifestyle :) I think what I like about it is it’s faster. I still haven’t figured out if I like all of it yet. The phone app already crashed on me once, soooooo,…

Cindy- It is a struggling time of year. I have been over my calories and carbs almost everyday this week. Ugghh.

Janet- It was your housekeeper that didn't show up, not your cat sitter friend, wasn't it? Did you get some help today? I sure wish we all lived near you!!

I better get back to my decorating, boxes still everywhere. This Saturday two of my BFF's and I are going to a Christmas show at the Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi. We are going to lunch first. We are all so excited. Monica I have known since the late 80's and Karen I have known since the early 90's. Very special ladies indeed. There will be lots of laughs.

I'll see you in the morning,

I have been meaning to try that menu import function here, just keep forgetting.

Had a great dinner: swai topped with Franks sweet chili sauce and pecans, carrots and tater tots. Got 25 Christmas cards made, simple but cute design. For once I didn't make it so hard on myself. Never got to the grocery so on the list for tomorrow. It is supposed to be a much nicer day weather wise. Will also go pick up my new glasses

    Until tomorrow my friends

Karla, it was cat sitter who was no-show yesterday. She felt terrible about it but at least late last night I knew she was OK.

    Patti, what is swai?

Tired here, attempting sleep now that the game is over - epic finish.

    Good night, all.

Good Morning, Ladies. I like MFP much better. I initially lost 50 with WW, but have gained 1/2 of it back. I lost it under the old plan where fruit had points. I am hoping to lose the weight I regained, but I just want to make sure I am eating healthier.

I need to call my surgeon today, as I stopped at my primary doctor's office to try to schedule bloodwork and ekg that my surgeon wants prior to surgery. They said I couldn't have it done there due to the fact he is not in their "group". They suggested going to our local hospital. Frustrating! My surgeon is 2 1/2 hours away, but I'm willing to drive there to get the tests done if necessary.

I'm organizing gifts I have purchased for our grandchildren today. I love sorting through them and remember what I ordered! :) Have a great day!

Good morning ladies and TGIF. I worked on my decor until after 11p last night. It is shaping up nicely. Just have the last touches to put on the tree this morning. I also haven't decorated the mantle yet. I love a lighted garland on the front of it. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, my favorite time of year..yep, I'm singing.

I'm not singing for my poor baby. His sinus drainage is back with a vengeance, he had difficulty getting to sleep from it making me cough. He told me this morning his next doctor visit is going to see an ENT after the first of the year. I believe his deviated septum has gotten worst. I told him I could call and get him an appointment for the two weeks he is off this month, but he said he's had enough of doctors for right now. Poor baby.

I'm going to prepare myself a nice omelet this morning and then get on my Eye clinic work. I haven't seen JJ in three weeks so I am going to get him this afternoon.

TT: What are you weekend plans? Do you attend any Christmas cantata's, plays or musical presentations?

Patti- You do need to get some food. LOL.

Bert- Glenn and I had some fun with the wrapping on Wednesday. I didn't realize I purchased Izzy so many stuffed animals this year. I got her a Millie (Yorkie) and a Brutus (Poodle) and a Pom for my girlfriend's dogs.

Janet- Glenn was listening to local High School games last evening. He loves his football like you. Our Alabama Crimson Tide plays their last game this Saturday and are expected to win it and be in the SEC Championship game. Roll Tide!

    I am off,

Good morning, all. Bert, sent you an e-mail -- you should NOT havae to drive 2 1/2 hours for basic pre-op testing.

Karla, bet the house looks wonderful. Next year will be my year to do it all up properly. The thyroid stuff threw my timetable off by three months, but at least there is a lit (if mostly undecorated) tree and some of my crystal trees are out too. Glad Glenn is going to see an ENT -- are you going to make the appointment now in case there's a wait? Poor guy -- NOT fun.

TT: No holiday performance plans this year but maybe I will drive through Lights Under Louisville (huge underground display -- kind of weird but in a good way). Maybe at Christmas I will go to the Toledo Zoo light display with my best friend's family. But I am seeing "Wicked" Sunday evening.

OK, must do a few things, then rest a bit. Have a great day!

Janet, Swai is a mild whitefish similar to tilapia. I have heard it called Korean catfish. It is usually the least expensive white fish you can buy. I think the texture is a bit less firm than tilapia. All in all a good buy and eat. That game blew my mind. Never thought they would pull it out but Aaron is a superstar. The Pac was my Dad's favorite team, he was from Wisconsin.

Karla, sinus issues can be so debilitating because they just seem to constantly be causing problems. I totally understand why he is tired of Docs right now. I know you will have a great weekend with JJ there and I am sure Izzy too.

Bert, how annoying that they won't do the preop stuff, never heard of that. It just takes a little extra work to send the info to the surgeon who is "not in their group". I think it would be ridiculous to have to travel 2 1/2 hours just to get it done. Hopefully your surgeon's office will have a better alternative. Good luck.

Off to the gym, Zumba and Pilates. Then grocery shopping and picking up my glasses. Think I will start the shelf unloading this evening, hopefully Edd will be in the house to help. He has been holed up in his garage for days, but that is what he does in the winter. Always seems to have bikes to work on and it makes him happy plus keeps him from vegging in front of the tv all winter.

Better go warm up the car for my 4 mile drive to the gym. Takes longer to warm it that it does to get there.

    Good Morning Dear Friends-
A quick check in as I've been on the run since getting to the office.
Janet- you are sounding more like you- so happy and I wish we were close- I'd bring you a nice veggie soup. :)
Patti- enjoy exercise class and once you try the recipe import please share- that would be awesome if it works.
Karla- we need to get the inside decorated. Rick is anxious to get our tree up- we bought an artificial one this year to have it up longer. I worry about fire with a real tree.
We won't do any plays or musicals this year. Its too late to get tickets although I would love to see a Christmas Carol- one of my favorites. At some point I'll get to NYC for the Rockettes too.
So far breakfast is on track- yeah for me and I have one bottle of water almost gone. I'm taking baby steps and I'm going to re-read the No S diet to remind myself I won't starve by eating 3 meals per day and one plate full. LOL
Bert- give you Dr office heck- anyone should be able to preform routine testing- Shame on them!
gotta run but see you all later. Hugs
BTW- LFK- should be live in 24 hours. I'll post for sure when up.

    Good afternoon all,
Cindy, love having you back with us so often even though I know you are still a busy bee. Can't wait to get my books so I can read LFK in paper.

Good day so far. Class was a great way to get things started. Got my new glasses, amazing how much better I can see with them and don't have to take them off when on the computer. They are not bifocals, my biggest issue is astigmatism in both eyes. Went to the grocery hungry and nearly bought some break and bake cookies "for Edd" but talked myself off that ledge. Then almost bought a candy bar in the checkout but they didn't have what I was looking for, so again saved from myself. Was smart enough to buy a Healthy Choice frozen meal to eat as soon as I got home. Not my favorite food but it stopped me from making some very bad choices. Now going to make a meatloaf for Edd. It will be chock full of peppers so I won't eat any. I try to stay away from beef as much as possible. Have almost lost my taste for it but a good ribeye steak will get me every time when grilled well. Going to have a raspberry greek yogurt with fresh berries and just a dollop of whipped cream (left over from Thanksgiving) I think dinner will be Madras lentis and a salad.

TT: no plans for any Christmas productions this year. Not something Edd is in to and none of the GFs have mentioned anything they are going to, but if it comes up I will be happy to accompany them.

    See you later

Is anyone having trouble with the MFP app? It seems OK on my phone but each time I've tried to bring it up on my iPad mini this afternoon, it opens and immediately closes itself. Still better than what seems to be happening in the WW site and app.

Lots of afternoon calls and texts meant I didn't get a nap so aiming for early slumber. Welcome to the weekend, friends.

No troubles on my laptop, don't usually access it on my iPad. Hope it is short lived.

Good news: my DIL had her hysterectomy today and is doing great. Home tomorrow if all continues to go well. Her sister is here from CA so will be well cared for and I am a phone/text away if she needs me.
Bad news: I had hamburger left over from the meatloaf and so I made a burger for dinner. No bun but put bacon on it. I have plenty of calories (so hard to not say points) for it but the bad news is that I didn't really enjoy it. It was well seasoned but just didn't live up to my expectations. So I am over it.

Hi gang! We got home yesterday evening late and it's been crazy busy getting the RV cleaned up, laundry done, mail gone through, etc. Cindy, to answer your question, "Tulip", as we call our RV is a 25' Winnebago View, a class C motor home. We drive her and don't drag a car. Most of the time, we just unplug and drive her into town if we need to go. Occasionally, we will rent a car if we plan to be in one location for a few days.

I wanted to chime in on yesterday's discussion of the site comparisons. My trouble with regaining my weight had everything to do with me and nothing to do with any failing on the part of WW. That being said, I do like the MFP site, too, and of course, like having all of you here with me. I don't track much of the time, but experimented tracking with both sites for a couple of days (WW was down most of that time.). Im very curious what WW's new program changes will entail and will be glad to pass those along to you after next week's meeting. Unlike many of you, at least I think so, I will go ahead and stick with WW because of my home group and leader. I am very fortunate to have a truly GREAT leader and an amazing group. I need the people part of it all and although I very much enjoy your "company", I need the actual human interaction too.

It's late but I'll try to be back tomorrow sometime.

Good early morning my friends. Fun night with JJ and Izzy. I gave Izzy a crate of old beanie babies the TY company and she had a blast. She opened them all and took everything off her dresser in her room and "decorated" it. LOL. She was adorable as always. JJ and I watched an animated movie, Rio 2, and he laughed so hard he was in tears. Such a sweet boy. He told me last night he was definitely going to college and was going to live in Miami. He said he wanted good things in life and his Uncle Jeremy went to college and was in the military and was living the good life. LOL. The kid doesn't know it but Jason set up a trust fund for him with his settlement money back in 2008 and he will have over a $100k for college.

I am so excited about my girlfriend time today. They are both coming to my house at noon today and we are having a cup of tea before we head to Biloxi. We are eating at a famous restaurant called "Mary Maloney's" that is in a historic building and is all elegance. YUM.

Suzi- Sounds like you had a wonderful trip. I am still with WW, online only, and have been watching the changes too. The big roll-out is supposed to be tomorrow. I am so glad to hear they are starting to focus on nutrients. Please do keep us informed of what you learn in meetings. The leader they have here runs both meeting places and just rushes through everything. I've tried twice to bond with her and go, but to no accord.

Janet- I wasn't on here very much yesterday, but didn't experience any difficulties when I was. How are the legs? I am so anxious for you to see your new face on Monday. Of course we are all dying to see your new face when you are ready to share. Are you going anywhere for Christmas this year? Which cholesterol med are you using? I know you said you were taking a small dose of oneof them.

Patti- This is a very challenging time of year. We made cookies last night and I had a couple of them. We made homemade chocolate chip cookies and I had some leftover frosting from Thanksgiving that we topped them with, and sprinkles. Of course I had one or two! I can't mess around and let my cholesterol go back up after I got it down to 169. I am not on any meds for it now as I couldn't tolerate the Crestor.

I'm going to get my back dining area table changed from the pumpkin decor to Christmas this morning and then head to the grocery store while everyone is sleeping. I'll check back later on. Have a great day.

Good Morning, Ladies.....I hope today is a great one for everyone. I plan to wrap some gifts today. Then, this afternoon, I'll be making a pretzel salad for our choir's salad lunch tomorrow. The proceeds go towards our music ministry. I'm not sure why it's called a pretzel salad, as it's basically a dessert! People love it, so I'm making two. Have a great day.

    Good Morning Dear Friends-
I rode my bike for 16 minutes this morning- I had rolls in the oven and had to get then out but for me that's progress!
Janet- I'm not having issues with MFP. How is your pain level? I'm sure you're very excited about Monday.
Patti- a box will be on it's way to you- I'll email you the tracking number when I have it later.
I hope you'll enjoy LFK and if you do please feel free to write a review :)
Karla- Its wonderful JJ will have money to help him with college- Izzy sounds like she has so much fun.
Suzi- Tulip sounds like a wonderful home away from home. Our plan is to get a class C with the next upgrade. Right now we have a travel trailer and is great for our seasonal spot.
Bert- what is in your pretzel salad? Sounds intriguing.
Well need to run through the shower and get some things done-
But I've officially started by day with each of you over coffee.
    Enjoy the day and smile...

Hi -- Welcome home, Suzi! Will be very interested in wht you and Karla share about WW changes.. Sure hope they put protein need in a more prominent place and stop the "nonfat processed stuff is better than more 'real' foods with some fat" madness.

Cindy, just ordered LFK paperback -- still need to read Journey. I desperately need Just One Day completely to myself. I know that wounds weirtd because I live alone but so many commitments and now with cat sitter coming daily t unpredictable time I just can't settle down.

Karla, used to b eon simvastatin but was taken off it a few months ago. Your time with the kids sounds priceless and I know you and your girlfriends will have a ball. I've eaten at Mary's -- excellet restaurat and winderful atmosphere.

Bert -- also interested un pretzel salad!

Patti, great news on your DIL. I knoew they'll call inn you if they need you. Nurse Patti to the rescue!

Need to shower soon and start (slowly) getting ready for trivia event tonight. Legs are still very definutely in healing mode, with a big sore spot on each side. It ain't pretty and us swolle and I walk funny but I am good with getting out even if I am a bit ahead of when I should drive. "Wicked" tomorrow night, doc late Monday then I desperately want to rest a bit and start working on wrapping Christmas gifts and getting gift cards for each niece and her husband to go out on. My b est friend and I are not going to exchange gifts but will do something together later. Neither of us needs stuff -- but going out for a nice meal or maybe a shopping excursion in another city instead.

Wish me luck at trivia tonight -- holding out against insanely yummy treats everyone will bring. I am quite tired ad feeling low-key but getting out with a group of nice women will be good for me.

I am going to delete MFP app from iPad and reinstall if problems continue. It works fine on phone or computer so no big deal.

OK -- time to shower and start getting ready!

Good afternoon, I am up, had my omelet, cleaned the kitchen and had a nice long chat with my Mom. Now getting ready to start on the decoration process. Edd wants to go out tonight to celebrate his favorite barmaid's birthday. I really don't want to go. I like her but it will be at the bar and everyone will be wasted. Edd will want to stay until closing time and play pool with whoever is willing and/or able. I know I sound snobbish but I just don't deal with drunks very well and I know I will be miserable for most of the night. I don't play pool and when Edd does I am pretty much on my own. I am sure he will be upset with me for not wanting to go but I would rather deal with him than the drunks. If he would take me for a while, bring me home and go back I would be fine with that but that usually doesn't work. I really want to spend the evening working on the house and watching Christmas movies. I'll let you know later if I get my way or not, lol.

Karla, what a fun night you had with the kids. I know it makes you proud the JJ is focused on being a succes and that Jason was able to provide the means for him to do it. Enjoy your day out with your BFFs. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Janet, I absolutely love Wicked. It is coming to town in June but don't know if I will get a chance to see it again. Hope you are not overdoing it. Please take care of yourself and get that "ME" day you so need.

Cindy, can't wait for my package! I will absolutely leave a review. I know I am going to love it. Keep forgetting to thank you for sharing another author's name/book on FB, Shirley Alarie and her book "A Healing Haven". I bought it for my hairdresser as she is a horse person. Love finding just the right gift for the right person.

Bert, I love pretzel salad but have never made it successfully. Funny how some things are always so much better when someone else makes them, even if the recipe is exactly the same.

Suzi, welcome home and so glad you had a nice trip, even with the funky weather. Our first motorhome was a 19ft Toyota and we always pulled a motorcycle on a trailer behind us. We upgraded over the years to longer class C's but I missed having a vehicle other than a motorcycle when we camped. We now have a 32ft 5th wheel with a rack on the back for the motorcycle. We haven't taken any trips in a while because of the cost of diesel. I really miss it though. Maybe next winter we will dig it out. Now it serves as guest quarters when we have company, lol.

Ok, getting motivated to start the big shelf unloading!

Hi gang! No real news about the WW changes yet as they begin rolling out tomorrow and Saturday is my weigh-in day. Had a chat with my leader and the weigh-in gals today about trouble with site etc and the fact that you have all decided to leave. They urged me to hang in there and I assured them that was my intention since I really do need the meetings. They all assured me that the upcoming changes will be well worth the wait and hassle.

One thing that's being done differently this time is that folks won't have access to the new tools online until their usual WI day. That's because the changes are such broad scope, they want to be sure people know how to use the stuff, which they'll learn in their meeting, on the same day they get access. I fussed some about that at first, but after they explained, it makes sense. I may go ahead and go to a meeting tomorrow afternoon if I can and at least hear about the changes, even though I won't get to officially "play" until next
    Saturday.

One thing that I think is changing is less emphasis on the scale. There were signs up today hinting at that although I can't remember what the wording was and they had the weight display on the scales covered today. I'm REALLY curious to learn about all this. I wish those of you who don't have a good meeting had a chance to come to mine. It's such a great group and really terrific leader - I just wish there were a way to share that with y'all.

Today's been pretty busy. Right after WW Dave and I headed out to go with sister/cousin Kelly and her husband Ray to see our hometown football team play in the state semifinals. Our plans were aborted though when my car quit on us at K&R's house. I've had it towed to the repair shop but won't know anything until sometime Monday. Which means I'll be driving Dave's pickup to AR Monday- Wednesday.

After that mess, we went out to the farm and got the Christmas tree and lights out of the barn. I managed to stay calm with the help of a HUGE rum and Coke Zero when a big section of lights smack in the middle of my pre-lit tree didn't light. In fact Dave remarked, ". Wow! That's probably the least amount of profanity I've ever encountered while helping you with a Christmas tree!" Which pretty much tells the tale of how my decorating usually goes. Both my girls can testify to the profanity-laced epic meltdowns they've had to endure over the years. (In case you hadn't guessed already, I'm a cusser when I get angry. It's kinda like a cuss word volcano.) I read about how much you guys all enjoy it and just don't get it. I love my tree and all my angel ornaments that I've collected over the years, but that's pretty much the extent of it. I do love outdoor lights and we'll get them up eventually. May have Kade, Jesssi's boyfriends brother do them for me again this year.

Almost all my decorations are up and it is looking quite festive. Just need to get out my collection of little houses to put on the shelf and I will be done. I do so miss a tree. Eating today has been too light but I got so caught up in my work that I missed lunch. I have a feeling tomorrow will make up for it.
Can't wait to hear how all of your Saturday festivities turned out.
Looking forward to a day with my two favorite Yayas tomorrow.

Suzi, hope the car problem is minor. You are so lucky to have a meeting and leader who provide such a positive experience. I can cuss with the best of 'em. I try not to but ... The one that isn't religious or sexual and rhymes with "spit" escapes my lips every now and then.

Patti, bet your place looks beautiful. Hope your DIL got home and continues to do well.

Karla, bet your trip and girlfriend time are fabulous. Beau Rivage is so pretty. Have you ever eaten at Chappy's in Biloxi. Had the best soft shells I've ever had there.

Trivia night was fun. I left before round 9 of 10. Sitting on a folding chair in a very hot church gym with two very loud tables of inebriated people next to us got to me and pain was ramping up, so I left when I was certain I would get home safely. Allowed myself 1,500 calories today and indulged in a few cookies, a homemade praline and some cheese & crackers and homemade Chex mix and was very careful beforehand so I could enjoy. I was to take nuts and chose cashews because they don't tempt me. Leftovers stayed with the group. Stayed within my temporarily upped goal, I think. It was nice to see some fun former coworkers. We were tied for 6th when I left (41 teams).

Hoping my pain pill kicks in soon and let's me sleep better. After tonight I know I can handle an evening at the theatre to see "Wicked." No folding chairs or rowdy drinks.

Good morning, everyone! It is bright and cold this morning -- walking out to bring the paper in was invigorating.

Last night was an interestng exercise for me n a couple of dimensions. I knew the table would be full of homemade (and some store-bought) goodies and also knew I wasn't going to deprive myself and had planned for it. I did find I was a more conscious splurger, which was good, but that I did not guilt myself constantly when I chose to have a bite of tastiness. I knew that sort of eating is no longer my typical pattern and felt I could enjoy the spread (and fit in) without sabotaging myself for today or beyond. Hoping that means a touch of mental progress.

Great people-watching too. People of all ages and body types and sizes, most of them apaparently very happy in their bodies. That's something I envy but I enjoyed watching their un-self-consciousness. There's a lesson in there for me -- need to try to learn from it and be less hard on myself. I still feel very guarded about my body and probably always will. Learning to inhabit the body I have has never been a strength. How does a person become less self-conscious?

The one moment of sadness last night was seeing that most tables were full of couples. (Our table was six single women and one single guy, good friend of one of the women.) This time of year I feel it a bit more keenly but it's just a fact of my existence. Maybe by spring I can figure out a way to dip a toe into the dating pool without completely freaking out.

Going to make oatmeal for myself, then read the paper. Planning to take my time getting ready to see "Wicked" this evening. Better take kleenex because I know I will cry at several spots in the show.

    Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning Peeps!! It's been a wonderful weekend of family and girlfriend fun! I am so blessed in my spouse, children and grandchildren, many wonderful friends and loving business associates. I love the holidays!!

Patti- If you miss a Christmas tree, then put one up!! They have some beautiful really small tree that come completely decorated. Many people have gone to these to still enjoy the tree experience without all the work that goes into the large trees. Please, please give it a go, you have so much to be thankful and blessed for this year. I put up three trees in my living area. LOL.

Janet- So pleased you went out to enjoy some fun trivia time with friends, sore and all. As you expressed, a good test for your Wicked showing. This play is coming to the New Orleans Saenger Theatre and I am getting Glenn and I tickets and a room over there.

Suzi- I am somewhat reluctant to let go of WW myself. Here is what they revealed today:

Our new Beyond the Scale program delivers our most personal and holistic approach ever. It inspires and guides healthier choices to help you not only lose weight, but also score benefits that go beyond just seeing a smaller number on the scale. You’ll eat healthier, move more, live happier, AND lose weight.

All these great changes will go into effect on your first weigh-in day (that’s the day your Weekly Allowance will reset) after Dec. 6.

    The new program brings together:

A new SmartPoints™ plan to make healthy eating simple: SmartPoints goes beyond both traditional calorie-counting and the previous Weight Watchers PointsPlus® plan. It delivers weight loss while guiding you toward an eating pattern that includes less sugar and saturated fat and more lean protein, fruits, and vegetables. Everything is still on the menu — but this is our strongest stance ever on eating healthier foods. SmartPoints is the plan Oprah Winfrey has been using to lose weight and eat healthier since she became a member in August.

New fitness approach that fits your busy life: Whether you want to get active and don’t know where to start or are ready to take it to the next level, we’ll meet you where you are with a personalized activity goal. And with the addition of our free new iPhone app — FitBreak by Weight Watchers™ — you have access to more than 70 one-minute workout videos to inspire you to move more throughout the day.

A personalized program that serves your lifestyle, goals, and challenges: Kick things off with a personal assessment that focuses on you and your daily habits. Then get customized daily and weekly SmartPoints Targets, an activity goal to reach for, and just-for-you articles and advice designed to help you feel good every day.
All these benefits are delivered through:

A completely redesigned mobile app experience, including Connect, a new social tool that ensures the power of the Weight Watchers community is always in the palm of your hand.

A refreshed approach to meetings, with a sharpened focus on members’ goals on and off the scale, a more motivating and social environment, and an emphasis on making your whole life healthier.

    So does it work?

Weight Watchers is in the middle of conducting a six-month clinical study of the Beyond the Scale program. And after three months there were several promising results that went beyond successful weight loss. Participants in the study also reported a reduction in food cravings and experienced increases in stamina and flexibility.

I really like their motivation and move away from the scale focus. I am also interested in the IPhone app FitBreak. Very interesting about the personalized program and love the name "SmartPoints". AND, the new app will have the community on it for the boards which has been needed for so long.

Glenn and I have been having a slow morning. I am looking at recipes, sale ad's and enjoying another "sappy" Christmas movie on Hallmark. LOL.

Janet, you paint quite a picture of your trivia party last night. Sounds like you had fun and handled everything well. Good for you for leaving at the right time to get home safely. I so envy you going to see Wicked. I just loved it.

Karla, thanks for sharing the WW info. My membership ends on the 9th. I am glad they are making the changes but I think for the first time in a very long time that I have a good handle on my eating and exercising. Your weekend sounds like a lot of fun and you are indeed blessed with loving family and friends. Once all my decorations were up I was ok with not having a tree. I had a beautiful prelit, rotating one that I gave to a friend of mine years ago when she decided to stop buying live trees. Her daughter was young and they could not afford to buy a new one. It always makes me happy to know it is in her house and beautifully decorated. I have very few sentimental ornaments. Most were given to my son and daughter when they set up their houses and their children were young. It made more sense for them to have them. The one's I gave to my son I still get to enjoy on his tree. The non-sentimental ornaments were given away last year to a friend who works with developmentally challenged children. She was able to get an artificial tree donated to the school but had nothing to put on it. I gave her 2 huge tubs of beads and ornaments. Again, it makes me happy to know those children are enjoying my decorations every year.

Suzi, what a day you had. I am also one of the "cussing kind" when things go wrong. When my son moved out, I kind of lost the love of decorating a tree. He and I used to do it together and I think that is what made it fun. I enjoy my snowman collection, but it is a lot of work. Glad it is only once a year, lol

Off to get my bake on. Back later.
P.S. this is a head's up. Watch your emails please. I am going to be sending my Mom's address and asking you all to please send her a card if you can. Most of her friends are no longer with us and she gets just a few cards now. You have no idea how much she enjoys getting something personal in her mailbox. Last year when you all so graciously send her birthday cards it made her month. She has no needs in this world other than friendship and a sense of being remembered and acknowledged. I know you all understand and will do what you can.

Patti, of course I'll send your mom a card. Not sure when I will get around to cards this year. So much to do and not at full speed here for a few more weeks. Can't explain that to my family, though my friends know and get it.

I love decorating the tree, even just for me. But the full treatment has to wait another year. Just having the tree up with a few things on it is enough for 2015.

Karla, thanks for the WW info, About time they started putting more emphasis on Quality of food, not just Quantity (face it, you could technically eat nothing but candy bars and still make your daily points target). Especially lean protein. Hope they de-emphasize processed foods too. Will be interesting to see the reveal and learn everything we can. Also hoping they do a better job of overall nutrition education, not just "eat this many points," and the SmaartPoints name indicates that may be the case.

I do confess that the word "lifestyle" practically gives me hives though. I suspect the new plan might be a better fit for me in some ways and a worse fit in others. As are all such things, eh?

Football's about to start and I need to think about getting ready over the next couple of hours. See you later this evening!

Thing I tried this morning and liked: made oatmeal with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. 1/4 C. Steel-cut oats, 1 1/2 C. almond milk. Cooked for about 30 minutes. added a bit of Splenda ad a sprinkle of cinnamon. Hearty and under 200 calories.

Patti- you said you missed having a Christmas tree, now you give all these explanations.

Janet- I like oatmeal cooked that way.

Back from power shopping, exhausted. Laying down.

Nearly 8 hours of baking done and I am exhausted. My GF made some really yummy navy bean and ham soup for us. I did nibble as we baked but really held it to a minimum. We had some hilarious moments and made plans for an outing to a nearby quaint little town with lots of antique stores and unique shops.

Karla, sorry for the confusion, but I do still miss having a tree just like I miss not having a fireplace. No longer in the cards for my lifestyle but so enjoy everyone else's as I go visiting.

Janet, not to worry if you don't do cards this year. I totally understand, I just feel bad that your family doesn't get it.

Cindy, congrats to your SIL. Enjoy your tree trimming.

    Talk to you all tomorrow.
