Thanks for the welcome Christie and Jess! Is there an easy way to keep up on comments on posts I'm following or do I just keep checking back? Still learning my way around here!

Yes, ours was on Monday, then our barbershop group had a party. I was so stuffed at the end of the day I could hardly move. I don't know how I ever survived the holidays before... Have fun!

Made a huge pot of bean soup with smoked turkey yesterday for a family dinner tonight. Making peanut butter cookies, banana bread, and chocolate chip "Mrs. Fields" cookies today. Why oh why do I do this to myself?? Because it's expected? Because I try to love people through food - even though I know it is bad food? I'm trying to think of how to handle dinner and to not eat the bean soup, probably 4,000 carbs in there  Happily I'm not too tempted by the cookies, just don't have that sweet tooth anymore. Looking forward to Saturday when all the Christmas festivities will be over and it will be easier to keep only hflc foods around!

Happy Christmas Eve for those of you who celebrate. I'm getting my metabolism tested today! I've been struggling with weight gain/no weight loss for a long time now, even eating at what I believe to be a deficit. I'm super-excited to see the results. I'll report later.

BTW- anyone else having trouble with their newsfeed being blank?

GINORMOUS SIGH! Yes. Mine too. :rage:

I hope your results turn up something. You work so hard.

So I've been behaving and my weight is up. Dumb ol' body.
I'm going to be naughty tonight at the Christmas Eve party. They have foods not available to me any other time of year, most especially since I don't see these people any other time of year.
But I'll be behaving myself on Christmas Day.

Hoping for a pleasant holiday for everyone. :+1:

Made it! Carb Slipping and Sliding all the way there. No plans for today other than to take a deep breath and get back to it! So relieved and grateful! I revamped my food today to very stark keto (for me) except for my jeto version of mocha coffee. Total holiday damage may wind up being actually down a couple pounds! Have to wait a couple days for the water weight to be released to know for sure. Merry Christmas to you and all your loved ones.

Yep! It's a glitch they're working on. Apparently if you click on "load more" 50 times your newsfeed may come up... I got bored after 5 clicks and gave up!

Took another trip to the dumpster with a food that turned into a trigger. Now its back to sunny skies and clear sailing! I managed to stay at my second goal weight which is 10 lbs under my original. Still about 3 pounds over my lowest recorded weight so far - but some of that could well be water retained from extra carbs. I'll wait a couple days before I get this year's holiday challenge numbers. All in all, I think I did great weight wise... Next year I hope to find a way to be able to increase my holiday spirit. I pretty much ignored it this year in favor of weight issues, but maybe by next year my life willed be refilled with new friends, returning children, and most definately I hope that a new romance is in the cards! Hope all is well with my friends. Thanks for your kind words of support this season - meant alot to me. For the new January challenge (I hope there will be one) I will be more positive and hopeful, I promise.

I'm glad you got through it and did so well. I didn't stay Keto for Christmas. The kids and I are going to stay with my parents and have Christmas with my side of the family until Monday... then back to business as usual for me on Tuesday. We do have plans with friends for New Year's Eve but it's just a pizza night and I'm not a big fan of pizza so it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm looking forward to getting back on track and staying there until goals are met.

So, just popping in here to share a dessert recipe that totally saved me over the holidays. I splurged and bought some birch xylitol to make this cheesecake :http://www.intoxicatedonlife.com/2012/05/27/new-york-style-cheesecake-low-carb-gluten-free/ and then made this for a topping: http://whatscookingamerica.net/Q-A/CremeFraiche.htm using sour cream and sweetened with liquid stevia. Even my non-LC friends loved it! Christmas here in mid-coast Maine was 45F, bare ground and sunny! Gotta love it!

I went completely off the rails for a few days and am feeling great about it. Sounds crazy, I know, but almost 6 months in now and I NEVER cheat, so it feels good to know that I can go off the rails and still get back on. Hubby and I are finishing the last of the carb-loaded food tonight (I havent eaten yet today so glad to see I'm not being plagued by hunger) and it's back on the saddle tomorrow. Thursday is Chinese food for New Years Eve assuming I make it home from work in time for dinner, and no other cheats planned for me. In the past one cheat would lead to many cheats and before I knew it I'd be back where I started. I've been so afraid of that, and now I see there was no reason to be nervous. I managed to take a few day break to indulge, and while I'm sure if I were to weigh-in I'd be many pounds higher, emotionally I feel great and ready to continue my keto way of life :)

I had "body soreness" as well for awhile when I was off Keto and didn't know it was due to carbs. Now that I know what it is, I'm much more aware of how many carbs my body can take.

Congrats! My New Year's resolution is to get to a point where lapses can be planned for celebratory purposes and not turn into full-on crash and burn collapses.

Hi! I've been doing keto since 11/2. I've been in the low carb group, which has been wonderful (and I see a lot of familiar screen names here! :)) but only today realized there was a group just for keto. Glad to have found you all!

It's going pretty well so far (13 lbs down!), though right now with all DH and the kids' Christmas treats in the house it's harder to resist all the carbage.

Hello Keto friends - I have been off and on since Thanksgiving, and am up 5 lbs or so. I see a difference in my skin, how I sleep, and overall well being. Back to Keto for me - bring on the butter!

oh my goodness where is my optimism from yesterday? transition flu has my head spinning, I dont remember feeling this crappy the first time I went into ketosis LOL. First time I've ever kicked myself all the way out. Brutal. I found myself considering indulging again, and justifying it... trying to talk myself into it. That's crazy for me - I'm not like that at all on keto. SO I might just buckle down further. I have a turkey dinner tomorrow night (no worries there, my sister is okay with my keto lifestyle) but I might do a fat fast Tuesday if I'm not back in deep ketosis. I should have signed on to work for a couple of hours today and instead I napped when the kids did! :(

I just switched to a very extreme Ketogenic Diet over the weekend, gonna be tough, but I have done it before, my goal being to try to drop as much weight before a expo I am working January 19-24 in vegas, going to try for 20% BF as much as possible. I got on a electro Bio-impedence measure machine on the 21st and came up at 144 and 26% so I've got to get my *kitten* in gear, in june I was 136 and 23%, I am getting back in the gym daily to lift and will be attempting to get 300 calories burn in cardio daily too. 1500 cals a day and my keto ratio is 65%fat/30%Protein/5%carbs and minimum 1 gallon water a day. This has worked wonders for me in the past so hopefully my body will drop into keto quickly, this first week I am really focused on pushing it. And I plan to compete in WBFF Bikini in April for the first time. hopefully I can get down to 15%BF by then.
I am going lightly by the Bio-impedence scale since it does measure bodyfat fairly accurately, weekly, and taking a front/side/back picture weekly to monitor changes as well. I'm not terribly concerned with my actual weight as I am muscle dense and plan to stay that way and build more

Glad this is here, support for this seems really important.

. Sounds awesome ! Happy to support you here.....I'm just starting to lift seriously, like you, I'm really looking to decrease body fat. I have quite a bit more to lose than you, but everything I'm reading is not to wait on incorporating lifting.
