So I'm in the middle of a water fast, and I can't believe it's been 48 hours....so far so good.....I will probably break my fast tomorrow morning sometime, depending on how I feel. I'm surprised how energetic I'm feeling !

That's awesome! I think I might dive into a 3 day egg fast tomorrow.

LOL at the little Loki demon that sits on your shoulder - have you guys seen the comic about the Blerch? It's here - http://theoatmeal.com/comics/running - the artist is talking about when he goes running but I find the Blerch follows me around too!

I hope everyone's had a good week! I've finished university for the year now (yay!) and the takeaway on Tuesday night went well - I had tandoori chicken tikka and it was yummy. It's funny because before this WOE I would have ordered a curry, rice, naan bread and poppadums and eaten the lot. This time I ate my single portion of chicken and thought 'Actually, I don't need any more food now'. I love feeling so much more in control of my hunger and what I'm eating :)

I'm down 1lb from the start of the week, so not the biggest loss but still better than the stall I was on before so I'll take it :) I'm catching the coach to London later today and am going to aim to just eat as well as possible while I'm down there and hopefully stay keto. We're staying in a hostel that provides free breakfast, but in my experience this is usually toast and cereal so I might have to fast through until lunch on just coffee :/ Oh well, we'll be doing loads of walking, so I'll get my steps in at any rate!

The plan is to start an egg fast on Monday next week and continue until Friday, so if anyone would like to do it with me add me/message me! I'm still wondering about calories as all those eggs, cheese and butter seem to add up to quite a lot?

Congrats on the lb down! I'm hoping to start the egg fast today and go until Sunday if I can.

New day, keto strong. Been on target all week. Tonite is dance/ drink/happy hour nite. So, after monitoring this for about two months i find that i will retain water til sunday or monday due to the liquor, but as long as i stick to my keto script it wont affect my overall progress at all. This is good because i finally found a place where i can let my hair down for a couple hours, make some new friends - so important for me as a new, single empty nester - get in some exercise via dancing and not go horribly off track with my keto life. It seems like the only downside is water retention for 2-3 days and while i dont like seeing it there on the scale ...it is predictable and consistent and it all goes away by Monday morning. Ahhhh, finally some fun for me.

This morning I enjoyed the most delicious bullet proof chai latte ever! I basically just use the bulletproof coffee recipe with black tea instead and then added spices… Yum!

The strange thing about Keto is that I'm not actually hungry. Other diets meant I had to push past hunger to be successful. This is totally a mental game for me for different reasons … I have to remind myself that I'm not hungry and re-train myself to not eat out of habit.

I love chai, but have not attempted to replicate the spices and add it to black tea! What kind did you add? I m anxious to try it !!

I just googled chai spice. Almost every recipe included cardamom, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, all spice and nutmeg. I've tried different variations and prefer it without ginger and cardamom.

I didn't measure but just added a pinch of each and a bit extra cinnamon. The one today, I also added a few drops of vanilla and put it in a blender with a tablespoon of coconut oil, a tablespoon of full fat coconut milk, about 1/4 cup of almond milk and two packets of krisda.

    It was so good!

I use full-fat coconut milk in place of heavy cream because I don't like cows milk.

Gott through 2nd full work week, still feeling lame at the job - but slowly catching on. Another fun, but lonely night out. Thank god i found a comfortable place to go, make friends and dance! It's only a couple hours a week, but its my only social outlet and after years of fat isolating, i am craving friendship connections as well as hopefully something more in the future. Anyway, ketoing is fully on target. My only blip is the inevitable water retention from Friday night drinks. As long as I stick to my plan the water is gone in a couple days. I'd like to say i feel great, but i guess I'm feeling holiday blues, just a little ruffled and uneasy. Not too bad. Wish I wasn't alone so much in my personal life. Once it was a comfort, now it is painful. That's all for tonight. The good news being that I am staying keto strong and I think I'm due for at least another pound loss very soon! That would get me smiling!! Have a fun Saturday night all.

I'm keto for life! I began this woe in March and haven't looked back! The weight loss has been super slow (total loss is 37 pounds, 1.1 pounds since June!)! But the inches seem to be melting off. I've gone from a size 18/20 to a 14 since June 1. Don't trust the scale to maintain motivation! Always try to focus on how you feel! I would have given up before! Am sooooo glad that I have stuck it out! The benefits are amazing!

Just a note about the weight loss. You are probably adding muscle, which is more compact than fat. Take regular measurements. Your scale will lie. Your measurements won't.

So good to hear that you are ketoing in full swing. I am finally there myself and it feels pretty good!

Sorry to hear about the holiday blues... There seems to be a bit of that going around.

Here's hoping for more lbs lost to cheer you up!

I can so relate to this. I have lunch because it's lunch time not because I'm hungry. I could easily do with out it most days.

Following on from the last few comments. If your not hungry on keto do you just not eat until your hungry then or do you eat regardless just to keep your metabolism active as I could easily go all day with one meal and a few snacks and bullet coffees.

Sunday eve. Have felt dizzy all day so i added a keto food item to eat. Praying for a small weight loss tomorrow, but this may prevent that. Oh well. I have low calories to start with, but if i get symptoms i guess i need to feed myself. Had a low key day off, doing laundry, getting ready for the week to come. Feeling okay.

Good question. I feel like experienced Ketoers would say, if you're not hungry, don't eat. I'm getting better at listening to my body and waiting for hunger cues to eat but I'm such a creature of habit and I still have a lot of old habits to break so I do still often eat something at mealtime even if it isn't much.

... Lots of patterns to change and I'm sure I'll get there someday but for now the "what" is more my focus. The "when" is a battle for another day.

I was in Paris for 2 weeks on and off (COP21 side programme, life is hard, I know) So fortunate to have access to a basic kitchen at the apartment we rented. I don't eat meat, fish or eggs, and LCHF, not something you can satisfy in a lot of Paris restaurants. Fortunately, fresh produce is invariably lovely in Paris and so cooking was no problem, but scoring lunch at the conference venues we used was ...uhm... challenging. Almost no time to track at MFP, but I think I did ok. Which is somewhat of a victory for me, that I can make the right food choices without giving it much thought. There were tough moments, such as when I accompanied D to the artisan boulanger across from the apartment. That patisserie was out of this world, and the smell!! But it was no big deal saying no to that, which also pleasantly surprised me. I remember earlier trips to Paris where I would munch on a fresh baguette right out of the door and where the whole visit turned into a macaron "tasting" orgie, haha!

Finally came back on track. I had beef bouillon instead of tea this morning to help ward off the Keto flu. I have been there and done that more than once already and not really interested in doing it again.

Oh drat. No loss this AM. No gain either, but I was sure hoping for a bit of a drop. Another challenging week ahead. Getting mentally charged to step up to the plate. I think I will be spending Christmas alone this year and am considering planning a small treat that is non keto. I may defer having it til after the holidays so that i can meet my goal of no treats through the season. Don't know why I'm thinking about this now - must be a residual "food as comfort" pattern resurfacing. I am trying to acknowledge -but not dwell on- the sadness I feel during this season so it doesn't sabotage me unexpectedly. I think I'm doing pretty well. Next step would be decorating. Just a little this year would be fine, don't need to go hog wild with the kids gone - just enough make me feel some of the magic. Lights usually do that for me as well as scent, so maybe I'll start there. As for this week: ready, set, and Go!

Your body actually NEEDS breaks from digesting food. It gives your entire body relief. It actually makes it harder for your body to lose weight and not be exhausted overall, because it's running at low levels constantly, only getting a break while you sleep, and not much of that depending on when/how you eat dinner. Giving yourself longer breaks between meals lowers your insulin and blood sugar levels in a healthy way (though diabetics and folks with BS issues must be careful on this). I dropped my fasting insulin levels 1.5 points in 6 months by adding in some intermittent fasting...it also helped manage cravings.

Keeping your metabolism active by eating constantly is a myth perpetuated by those wanting to camouflage the continuous eating caused by carb consumption as normal. (my 2 cents)

Dizzy and tired and such is almost always related to electrolyte depletion - adding more salt often balances all this out.

I did the treat thing in a very planned manner over Thanksgiving, and it didn't derail me, just slowed progress briefly. If this is becoming an unavoidable concern, I'd say embrace it, and let it be done. But if you are a binger like me, that might be a slippery slope... Just a thought. Generally one thing, in a very deliberate way, does not a downfall make...
