Snoozie, I feel ya on the double planning of lunches and dinner...I have trouble with just dinner. When it was just Hubby and I , we could share a can of oil sausages and make a couple sandwiches...done!! 1.85 for dinner! With 5 people in the house most times, it is a struggle to plan and keep it simple and low cost.. Hats off to anyone able to do this and keep their head on straight!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone2
-
Well Thanksgiving came and went without too much of a hit. I did eat a whole lot more Italian Cream cake than any T2 D should have ,but it will be gone soon.... and it is too good to throw away...I know, I know..... I 'm soft...
So today it's back to the wagon, crawling up and getting in until Christmas !! holding on tight!!
Got in my bullet proof coffee this morning , haven't done it since running out of avocado oil & coconut oil. I hope it does it's thing and helps me to not be hungry. fingers crossed xxxx
Circuit training today, I think , unless they cancel. I didn't get much done in the way of exercise this weekend...so it will be good to get it done!!
Hope all is well with the group!!
Jingle Bells!!

Thanks for checking up on me Snoozie! I had a great Thanksgiving break with family. How is everyone, kind of speed through the readings.
Back to work and school. Snoozie I was reading about if you could you would have a personal chef if you had Oprahs' money lol. I would have a personal driver. lol.
Carol how is everything on the job. Did things calm down. You probably posted and I missed out sorry.
I am over the weight but still have not given up.
Atleast your A1C is down Snoozie 1/2 point is better than being up.0 -
It must be difficult having two holidays so close together! We don't really have an equivalent here in the UK. At least, nothing that centres around food (we have Hallowe'en and Guy Fawkes night, but they are not public holidays and not food-centric. Well, Hallowe'en was a little when I was a kid, as it involved treacle scones, treacle toffee, toffee apples, etc., but now it seems to be the Festival of Haribo).
Gail, I sometimes have a sort of bulletproof coffee, but only a tiny teaspoonful of coconut oil, because I do worry about the calories. I sometimes have it in the morning on fasting days. Maybe it's psychological, but it does make me feel I've eaten something and I'm not so hungry.
Planning meals is so much easier now I'm on my own. And fasting makes it even easier! I'm missing out six meals a week, so that's six meals I don't have to plan. I don't even have to remember to take lunch to work.
I hope you are all OK!1 -
Vail, it definitely helps me feel less hunger for a longer period. I too worry about so many calories...I used to put in 2 tbsp. coconut oil, 1 tbsp. avocado ...but the calories scared me off...although looking back, I did drop more fat during that time. I may have to rethink it..
treacle scones, treacle toffee sounds yummy....

Hi Hatters!
sorry been MIA.. had 4 days off. and they all completely sucked... had 2 visitations, a funeral and a wake on the thurs/fri, sat got hit with a horrific case of food poisoning from a take away meal I had picked up - ended up puking my guts out for the next 24 hrs.. not to mention all the other er... well related symptoms.. honest to god it was so violent I basically curled up on the bathroom floor for 12 hrs lol.. I guess the only good thing was being that it was food poisoning and not the flu it was over in 24 hrs but I was left completely dehydrated and still haven't recovered even tho I've been slugging water like a fish.. and started midnights last night which I will say was NOT a fun shift but got thru it.. slept a few hours today and when I woke it was relatively nice out for this time of year, sunny and warmish so hit the lake for a stroll and had my first coffee in 3 days.. so I know i'm on the mend. But food has no particular appeal for me still.. had some soup and crackers last nite and toast today... I did lose a pound but I know HOW and not counting it as I have no doubt it will return as soon as I start on solid food again... but just thankful its over now... and only the dreaded night shift to get thru - 1 down, 6 to go!!
Anyway... milove lovely to see you check in.. we've missed ya.. !! Gail and Vail (hey i'm a poet.. lol) had to laugh at your treacle treats yummers - I think if I remember treacle is like our molasses?? not 100% sure... but it was always a fav in our house altho we never used it in scones or toffee.. I do love a cinnamon scone I must admit...
I'm off back to bed to hopefully get a few more zzzzz's.. hope everyone has a great week.. this year just seems to have flown by!0 -
Wow! What a 4 days Snoozie sorry you were ill that is no fun.
Vail it is lovely having the two holidays close together, I love it.
Also, living in New Orleans, Mardi Gras is a holiday the entire city shuts down. I get a week off. By the way, I reset my tracker.1 -
have I ever mentioned I hate midnight shift?
yep... that could be my selfie right now!! giggle snort

DECEMBER!! It's my(our) last chance to drop a bit before the new year. I have to be all in! I know my mindset has not been where it needs to be, so I (We) have 30days to get er' DONE!!
I hope I am not alone in this?
Anybody else giving it a last ditch effort?
For me:
1.More water
2.Less sweets.... Yea, I messed that one up already...just had a 2 inch square piece of someone retiring today...it was down before I thought about coming in here and making this my last chance ...
3. Keep up exercising
4. Cut back on amount of Dinner meals....fill up with fiber and water before eating. (This is my major enemy....I come home drained and tilt back the fridge while I am fixing dinner for everyone...)
5. Keep a watchful eye on all these EVERYDAY to recommit to losing before end of year.
I'm not giving up!!!

That midnight shift is a downer.
Okay Gail, I can do the water and the sweets. I also am trying to cut back on dinner and my snacking is fruit instead of chips.1 -
hahaha.....just re- read my previous post.. looks like I had a piece of someone retiring...good thing he's gone...lol but we all know it was cake!! whipped cream icing! 2' square is small as cake goes....hehehe0
-
Great choices, milove.
I was putting down in writing my things I need to work on to see some loss. Here's hoping it works!!0 -
just a quick pop in as I wait for the work guys to arrive; got woken up a few hours ago to find my entire condo being flooded from above; water pouring down the walls and air vents; taps broke off apparently in a unit 3 floors above with no one home and it had been flooding up there for hours ... just spent 2 hours cleaning up as best as I can for now - i'm running out of towels and need rubber boots to walk thru my carpet.. have I mentioned I love this midnight shift??????????
as far as the end of the year gail... i'm still on the same goal; getting to a new set of numbers before year's end1 -
Oh, no!! and you seem so calm!! I am sorry you have to work though this along with the dreaded midnight shift....it's bad enough by it's self.0
-
Sorry I've been MIA , but as soon as my immune system attack settled down, I caught this nasty virus from my husband, who, being a man, as well as the baby of his family of origin, made zip zero effort to keep his germs to himself! I'm still sick and coughing like crazy, but did see my doc yesterday who gave me a different kind of asthma inhaler that helps with inflammation as well as some codeine cough medicine for the night, but every time it wears off every four hours I wake up having coughing fits- argh!
So I was having a bit of a pity party until I read your posts Snooozie. Holy crap- funerals, food poisoning, midnight shift and house flood?!?!?! I'd be in a straight jacket by now for sure!!! I am so so sorry things have been so hard lately. Major Cyber ((((Hugs)))) to you!
T2- I am so impressed with your motivation and determination - you go girl!!!
Vail- I didn't realize you lived in the U.K. I just love how the internet connects people from all over
Milove- great to see you !
Carol- hope things are going better for you at work.
Since you mentioned goals for December , Gail, my goal is to regain my health and get back on program.
1 -
thanks seehe.. but my stuff is just major pain in the *kitten* and inconvenience stuff.. as I get older my level of perspective is improving - health concerns are a far more important topic on the list nad you've had a *kitten* of a year woman!! I truly hope you get some relief from this round and that you are soon well on the mend!!
my eating has NOT been good these past few days; a lot of grab and go convenience stuff - im starting to forget what a vegetable looks like!! and the scale is showing it.. I know im also still very dehydrated; been pushing the water when im up but then I find im waking up for pee breaks lol.. only a few more tho and then can get back to normal.. I WILL get to my goal!!1 -
Oh, Snoozie, that's awful! I hope it can all be sorted out as easily as possible. But I suppose you're right - better that than health problems. Although it would be nice not to have either - lol!
Hope you're better soon, Susan. It's horrible when your sleep is disrupted like that.
Gail and Gwen, you sound committed, and yes, I'm making a last ditch effort too. Still part of that Lose a Stone for Christmas challenge. I don't see me losing half a stone (7lb) before Christmas, which is what I've got to go, but I'm trying! And I do think the occasional pieces of cake (or pieces of retiring colleagues?) have to be able to fit into our diets if at all possible. I'm going out for a meal tonight and will definitely be off-plan!
Oh, and Mardi Gras sounds wonderful! I am usually flagging at that that time of year, and it would be good to have something to lift the spirits!1 -
Snoozie, my that is so horrible but you seem to handled it well and still went to work what a trooper. Susan hope you feel better soon. Val keep striving to lose that stone. I am trying to be dedicated but it is difficult.0

hi ho hatters!
good job on all those staying with their goals to year's end... its way to easy for me anyway to sometimes think oh its the holidays.. or oh its my birthday.. or oh its wine therapy night.. i'll just let myself go tonite and get back on track tomorrow.... but this time of year especially.... the tomorrows are all "just" days!! So one of my things for the next three weeks is also to pick and choose my indulgences.. and make sure they are only an EXCEPTION!
My extra goal besides getting to a new set of numbers is to look at the social aspect of the next few weeks ... this week I have 2 get togethers fortunately they are a few days apart so my strategy will be to keep to strict healthy/portion control meals every day, including brekkie and lunches on the outing days.. I will use the "tues is wine therapy - do NOT indulge now" mantra haaaaaaaaaaaa
tomorrow is my weigh in day.. being on nights i'll hop on when I wake up tho. hoping to see at least a small loss this week - could use the motivational high right about now after the week I've had LOL!
and lets all remember... this is something GOOD we are doing for ourselves.. its not a punishment or a deprivation its a GIFT we're giving ourselves to continue our weight loss and journey to health!
ps: Suzy - hope the road trip is going well.. miss ya and look forward to hearing some of the highlights when you get back!0 -
Nice pointers Snoozie!! I am feeling you!!
0 -
Great planning, Snoozie. I know you will do well. I am up about 3 or 4 lbs...all my own doing..... so if I can drop those and get back to where I was , then I will start out full speed next year....
We can do it!!0 -
16 days, 3000 miles in a car, five cities and 9 pounds and I'm finally home. I totally lost sight of my goals and ate what I wanted and drank (way too much one night ) what I wanted. I got on the scale this morning and am trying desperately to wrap my mind around getting back on track. I'm giving myself the day off of the gym so that I can unpack, meal plan and grocery shop.
Snoozie you've been through the wringer lately! It sounds like you're handling it better than I would!
I've got to get my head back in the game or I'll end up finishing the year heavier than I started it and I refuse to do that! I'm hoping this nine pounds will come off quick.
We had a wonderful trip and saw tons of my favorite people but I'm so happy to be home and in my own bed!0 -
Morning Hatters!
Well.. its technically still morning for another half hour - I confess I had to hit the snooze button twice to drag myself out of bed!! But since the dreaded night shift is FINALLY over as of this morning, I'm hoping to get turned around quickly this time... I have learned I cannot do laundry on this first day ... I have found myself sound asleep a few times mid afternoon or early evening before... snoozing on a warm piles of towels that I was supposed to be folding So i'll have to get dressed and relatively human looking and go outside.. it looks quite nice out altho cold so I might head down to the lake;... maybe will help wake me up!
I also have to go see the property manager and start seeing what they're gonna do about all the damage from the flood.. sigh... not sure I have the energy for that battle today tho!
I didn't have the energy to do the happy feet dance when I hopped on the scale a few minutes ago, but I was happy to see I finally broke thru that 0 and into a new set of numbers.. just barely mind you... lol if I had moved one foot even slightly i'm not sure it wouldn't have gone back to the 0... But all kidding aside, it was good to see it and to reach that goal I had set. My new goal now will be to get down at least one more pound by years end.
Gail - I have no doubt you can deal with those pesky 3-4 over the next few weeks! I see you've been hitting the bike - well done you!!
Suzy - welcome home!! omg 16 days 9 cities.. holy cow!! Glad you got to see so many friends and so many places... I did have to laugh at your comment about drinking too much one night.. I dunno about you but the older I get.. the longer the recovery for me from a night of wine therapy!! LOLOL I joke with some of the kids at work sometimes when we are at choir practice after shift.. tell em I can still drink you under the table.. I just can't get OUT from under the table anymore after!!! I suspect that vacay weight will drop off pretty quick now that you're back into your normal routine... maybe just push the water a bit extra for a few days now that you're home and have easy access to a bathroom LOL and that alone will prob help ditch a few once your bod figures out it's back to normal
im going to suck back another coffee then get my butt in gear.. the sun is shining so wanna hit the lake before it disappears.. have a good day everyone and remember in all the beginnings of the holiday prep and getting everyone elses presents - that we deserve this gift for ourselves - and we have to give it to us cause nobody else is gonna LOL. (wouldn't it be great if we could just point to good health and tell someone else hey get that for me?? ) I confess.. I wouldn't mind that sometimes!!!
Rock on people!

Howdy Hatters. Thanks for the well wishes- still trying to beat this crazy virus. Getting a little better now each day starting yesterday. I'm happy that all this lounging around hasn't caused me to gain weight at least. Wonder how many calories coughing burns?!? I did have to miss two Holiday celebrations, one dinner and one brunch, so while I missed going, it helped on the scale. And of course abstaining from alcohol hasn't hurt, either lol. Finally made it to the grocery store yesterday so have some easy healthy choices for a few meals, so going to try to keep that scale cooperating as I recover. I do have two other Holiday parties this weekend, and assuming my husband and I are well enough by then to go, I'm going to try to keep it reasonable and not pig out! I am hoping to be able to walk the dogs again maybe by the weekend. They are restless, and this is my favorite time of year to walk the neighborhood and chat with peeps putting up their xmas lights. Hope I haven't missed it all!
Snooozie- a BIG CONGRATS to you!!!!! Your positive attitude and perseverance really paid off! ROFL laughing at the image of standing on the scale and moving a foot causing the number to change- been there! Thanks for all the encouraging words. They lifted my spirits while reading them :-)
Gail- with your motivation and perseverance, I bet you nail those few extra pounds soon!
Suzy- Sounds like you had a wonderful and fun road trip. I hear you about it being hard to get back into the swing of things after vacation! Sometimes it helps me to start with baby steps to regain my momentum.
Hugs~Susan1 -
lordy Susan.. you have been through the wringer and back these past few months! glad to hear you're on the mend finally - I figure if a hot flash burns 100 cals.. then coughing has got to be pretty close!! I actually hope you're both well enough to go to a couple of the holiday parties.. its always nice to get together with people over the holidays and I think we forget the social aspect is an important part of our lives too... . Since i'll be working evening shift the week leading up to xmas, i'm getting in all the time with friends I can before hand lol! \\
I have a soft spot for Christmas lights too.. it was tradition for us growing up to drive around and look at the lights and I continue that tradition sometimes on my own, but at least once with my little senior friend - we go to a local restaurant then tuck her up with a blankie and coffee in hand and up and down her neighbourhood - and its lovely to just drift and turn here and there and suddenly discover a beautiful display we never would have found otherwise. I hope you feel well enough to take the doggies out - know this is the perfect weather for you these days!
didn't sleep great but I've had worse in a turn around day.. but can't laze around all day again today so better get up and showered and human LOL..
keep up the great work ladies... as susan reiterated above.. even baby steps will help us feel in control and as long as we are doing even a few baby steps here and there, we'll know we are still making progress!2 -
btw... I completely blew my portion control practice last night - after a week of "make do" feedings I was jonesing for a vegetable... who would have ever thought I would crave broccoli lol.. I ate two yup two full pieces of fish, about 8 marble potatos and at least half a dozen brussel sprouts... and about 4 hours later I ate the other piece of fish and the rest of the Brussels LOLOL... I was hungry, not just bored.. being switch over day i guess my body was still in the feed me mode at midnight but holy cow that serving of Brussels was supposed to feed two people... or me twice LOLOL.. I also had two glasses of wine - purely medicinal of course in hopes of making me sleep.. ya .. that's my story and i'm sticking with it!!!
i just had a piece of toast and coffee this morning to re set my body into a normal routine again... but i am still craving veg.. which considering my usual cravings i suppose isn't that bad.... ?? haaaaaaaaaaaaaa. but def back into mini meal mode again!

My family used to drive around looking at the Christmas lights when I was growing up, too Here in Tucson, there is an older neighborhood called Winterhaven with a lot of trees and some evergreens instead of cacti, and every house traditionally goes all out with Xmas lights. It's called The Festival of Lights. The streets are blocked off from traffic at night, but you can walk the neighborhood and they offer horse drawn hayrides through the neighborhood to enjoy viwing all the decorations, So that's how I raised my son, with hayrides looking at lights

awwwwwww love the picc susan!!!! we have a similar thing the Cavalcade of lights here in the city - and Niagara Falls has a park with a bunch of displays you can walk through... that cactus (I know its not the right word but to me that's a cactus!) is tooooooo funny love it!!2
