Its FRIDAY... woo hoo!! and what's a perfect way to end our week on a high note?
whaddya say we all aim for one more day of making it up to the DID IT step??
Doesn't matter WHAT you do to get to that step - im gonna climb up there today by getting in 6 glasses of water, and by adding 10 minutes of moving my parts other than walking

Congratulations to all for your achievements!3

Oh my gosh- love the I did it theme for Wednesday! A belated thanks for the great idea Snoozie. Loved reading about everyone's successes- Go Hatters!!!
Sorry I missed it, but better late than never, so I will still report that on Wednesday night I didn't want to cook, so I asked my husband if he would go to Boston Market with me for dinner ( both of us admittedly don't get excited about eating there but I was thinking it had the healthiest choices, I can record their food from their website and I won't over indulge there). He asked if we could please go somewhere else where he could get a drink. I knew he had had a rough time at work lately, and I sure would have liked a cocktail or two or three lol , but I resisted and explained to him that i had recommitted to my health and weight loss journey since Monday and that I didn't want to sabatoge myself and I would really appreciate his support. So to Boston Market we went, but OMG they had all these dessserts , including my fav fall dessert of theirs : pecan pie, displayed all over the counter where you order and where you pay. I was really hungry and really really tempted, but resisted. All the time I was eating my veggies and quarter white chicken, those pies were calling to me. And when I finished eating, I wasn't full, BUT I made a deal with myself . I would wait 10 minutes, drink more water, and if I still wasn't feeling full I would let myself have one piece of pie. I am happy to report that I left Boston Market ten minutes later totally pie less2 -
So Yay, my whole previous post posted. Thanks SuzyQ for the suggestion of updating my app. I didn't see an update option for it, so I just deleted the app and then added it again and , lol and behold , it was a totally updated app.
Anyway I posted what I did previously to make sure it posted before continuing. So I am very pleased with my Monday Tues and Wednesday, but noticed by Thursday my resolve was weakening, and I ended up binging on some candy my hubby had stashed. I must admit I am concerned and dismayed that my new found motivation waned after only a three day run, but I am not giving up or in. I do realize , although sometimes I hate to admit it, that this is a life long challenge. And while that may suck to a degree, what is the alternative? To gain back all my previously lost weight and more? To raise my blood sugar to a diabetic level again? No, no no!!!! I choose healthy!!!!
Ok enough thinking out loud and blabbing - thanks for listening . TGIF and wishing everyone a happy and healthy weekend !2 -
Well done on the pecan pie! Were you kind of disappointed afterwards (just wondering, because I'd have had mixed feelings - wishing that the water and the wait hadn't filled me up - lol!)? That must have taken some effort of will.
Yes, it's a lifelong challenge, isn't it? And it's never going to be perfect all the time - it just needs to be good enough, I suppose. The occasional slip up doesn't matter.
I hope you have a healthy and happy weekend too!2 -
Seehe:
Choosing to forgo the pie in lieu of getting to your goal ... YOU DID IT!!
AND.... I prefer to think of your 3 days as a huge success... it definitely shows you are getting back on track, and it's 3 days of healthy eating MORE than u had last week right? don't think of it as your motivation having waned, but that you're getting back on track one day at a time!! A few pieces of candy isn't gonna blow anything - we have to learn to incorporate an occasional treat after all if it is indeed going to be a lifestyle change.. I still struggle with making it the OCCASIONAL one I admit lol... but I hope one day I will be able to say yes please to an occasional one and know it isn't going to derail me .. not there yet myself lol... but.. you got 3 great days in which shows it's all coming back to you so yay you!
I can't claim my I did it moment today cause I didn't think I was gonna DO it.. had a rough nite sleep wise and ran around all morning doing chores to prep for back to work tomorrow; when I got home I was hungry and exhausted and ouchies starting ... I changed into my sweats and t shirt and prepared to just chill... reasoned I was too tired, too sore, blah blah.. to be honest.. then I started feeling guilty lol.. so I made a deal with myself.. i'd look at the clock and if it was before 2pm, I would go down to the lake and do my walk, if it was after I wouldn't cause I would run into school bus hell coming back
so I go into the kitchen to look at the microwave.. and I swear.. it was 2:00 on the nose... I said some very bad words out loud... and then thought maybe I could stall for a minute.. then I heaved a big sigh and got dressed again and went down there. Once I was there.. it was beautiful. .the sun had come out and I really enjoyed it.... but then I forgot to turn off my runkeeper app so by the time I got home it said I had walked 22km LOLOLL. Anyway I did get my 38 minutes in... but didn't get the extra 10 of something else nor have I made my water goal ... but... I did stop and pick up a bottle on the way to the lake and i'm on bottle #2 so I might just make it after all... haaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
hope everyone has a great weekend and remember ... it's still technically the end of the week.. and only 7 weeks left after this one til the end of the year
rock on and treat yourselves well my friends!2 -
Vail- Thanks I wasn't disappointed. In fact I was actually relieved and happy I had come up with the deal I made with myself and had the willpower to stick to it. I haven't exactly been great in the willpower or motivation department for awhile...
Snooozie- Thanks for the pic and focusing on the positive of my successful 3 days Your 2:00 on the dot story cracked me up! Major Kudos to you for getting dressed again and getting your walk in. I know you count your walk towards your diabetes goals, nevertheless intentional physical activity such as your walk is the also nasty E word to me! I remember when my exercise physiologist at Canyon Ranch told me I could only count my Curves workouts as one thing- either strength or cardio- but screw that cause it really was both , so I counted it as both anyway. Side note- can you imagine liking to exercise so much you make your career about it????? Not in THIS lifetime1 -
I think we all have to recognize and celebrate our victories, whether big or small. Turning down cake, pie, only eating a couple pieces of candy and then getting back on track, drinking more water, exercise of any kind and any duration...they're all steps in a healthier more positive direction!
I'm backpacking this weekend. We're thinking that this is our last opportunity of the year and the leaves are supposed to be at peak color. It's going to be a bit chilly but not too bad. I'll check back in on Monday.
Have a great weekend everyone!1 -
-
I agree too! No good with the pictures, but so a big bold CONGRATULATIONS! YOU DID IT! And thank you for your support too!3
-
Yep! Ditto what they said! This group may be small but all of you ladies are so supportive. It means so much to me. Snoozie, you keep us motivated and keep this group going! Thank you!2
-
Suzy- hope you have a wonderful time backpacking and enjoying all those fall colors this weekend0
-
Oh my goodness- so excited that Fall is FINALLY here !! Now I can enjoy the great outdoors again (without having to be in a swimming pool! ) - Yay!!! I happily took advantage of this new cooler, beautiful weather to drive up to the base of Mount Lemon to Bug Spring Trail with the Hubby and Doggies for a delightful hike
3 -
Beautiful pics Seehe! I love fall! Our hike was a huge success. We found a campsite right across from an awesome view of the fall colors of the mountains. We ended up hiking about ten miles in two days with our 30+ pound packs! I managed to be five pounds heavier on the scale this morning but we did have pizza for dinner last night. I'm hoping it's water retention and that I'll drop it quickly. How disappointing.
2 -
Stunning pictures, both of you! I love the autumn colours!
I'm up a couple of pounds too after the weekend - "social pounds", I'm calling them!1 -
Wow Suzy- those fall colored mountains are beautiful!!! Glad you had a great time. Hiking is my personal favorite physical activity- how about you? Thanks for sharing the photos
That's crazy about the five pound gain- are you using the same scale at the same time of day? If so it must be water weight. I used to have a regular scale from bed bath and beyond or something and it seemed totally random as to what weight it recorded, so I tried standing on it repeatedly a minute apart one morning. Lo and behold it gave a different weight each time I stepped on it! I bought a different one, and it did the same thing. So I invested in a doctor's type scale. It's still digital, not like the old fashion tall ones, and it is incredibly accurate and consistent. Let me know if you are interested in the brand and where to get it.
Well it's a new week. I'm motivated to make it a healthy one as well as to maintain last week's loss on the scale. So meal planning, grocery shopping , dog walks and resisting temptations are on my agenda. Hope everyone is having a marvelous Monday

Hatterssssssssssssss
omg i'm so sorry I haven't been in... I have literally clicked the app at 4am every morning to log myself in and have not had time to actually log onto the puter to read and see everything; its been an insane week of dayshift but 5 down and only two to go.. and tonite I completely cheated some time by buying a pre cooked half chicken and a pre made greek salad which I just wolfed down part of and will take the rest for lunch at work tomorrow - I have to go to the meeting with the dietician tonite at 730.... I was like omg can I have an earlier apt cause i'm in bed at 8... I swear I could hear the girl look at her phone and think how pathetic are you woman?? I didn't bother saying i'm up at 4am dammit lol.. anyway its supposed to be an hour... but i think i can convince her i already have a lot of the dietetic info.. its the practical application i need help with haaaaaaaaaaaaaa
ANYWAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
first off omg thank you all for the super sweet cheering faces and cheerleader and lovely comments.. made me all warm and fuzzy ladies so thanks!! But it takes a village and without all you guys contributing and keeping me and each other going too we wouldn't have gotten this far.. so right back at all of you!!
i LOVE LOVE LOVE the pictures Suzy and Susan.... !!!!!!!!!! wowsaaaaaaaa... seehe i bet that hike in the cooler weather was amazing.. holy cow that mount looked steep !! Suzy the fall colors are one of my favourite things; how great you lucked into a campsite right across from em?
everyone pls keep any pics coming.... !!!!
i have only managed 2 lake walks this week (my week starting on sat) and i didn't hop on the scale Monday cause i was constipated. yes there i said it LOL. So hoping by next week things will be.. better lol... and will see if any loss. still working on the smaller amounts more often and not doing too badly i must say.. im learning my biggest problem is i DO wait too long then i'm starving and i'll eat anything i can get my hands on, and the containers they come in too.. so i'm becoming more aware and maybe have 3 crackers and a serving a cheese when i feel a bit hungry... then next time have a 1/2 sandwich and some veg and dip... yada yada... but still too often specially at work i tend to wait til i'm finished something before i eat.. and i never finish anything when its busy so suddenly i'm the "hangry" psycho chowing down like a maniac LOL
ok.. better get my lunch put together before i go out cause i'll be dropping into bed as soon as i get home.. only two more get ups tho so nuff whining...
hope everyone is doing ok by this wed... hugs all around!3 -
Well done on eating smaller amounts, Snoozie. I'm laughing about you wanting to eat the containers too, and not weighing because you're constipated - so funny! I'm sure your hours don't help, but hopefully you're finished now - enjoy the weekend!
I'm finding lowish carb is helping with the "hangry" - still getting it now and then, but I'm OK. Weight loss has been hit and miss but overall nineteen pounds in the last three months, which is huge for me considering that I was gaining before!
Have a great weekend, everybody!3 -
Vail - that's an AWESOME accomplishment.... well done YOU!!!
last day of dayshift today and since i'm up a few minutes before the alarm, thought i'd pop in.. looking forward to some down time for sure!
Meant to say that the apt with the dietician wed nite was a complete waste of time for me.. 1/2 of it was what meds I was on (which ws already in my file there) and the rest was asking me what I ate typically ... she had a box of plastic food which they had in the classes ... serving sizes and i'm thinking now that box would be a good diet aid.. I've never seen food so unappetizing as it is in ancient hahahahha,,, anyway I was pretty disappointed as I had been hoping for some tips specially with the shifts for snacks and timing etc...and more about the "volume of food" aspect but nada... on the other hand once I had time to think about it and get over my miffed-ness, I figured out that I probably knew as much as she did about nutrition and carb counts and stuff because of MFP... since coming here I've learned so much and with the logging for the first three years especially... so I had to step back and look at it as if I had been newly diagnosed and knew nothing... and that actually made it worse cause I thought jeez what about the people who are where I was 4 years ago and know nothing.. but perhaps she would have been more focused on that with them in all fairness.. I guess I was looking for more help in the "practical application" of what I know LOL.. i'm pretty sure all of us could write a nutritional guideline at this point.. my problem is putting the info into practice not the lack of knowledge LOL
Oh well... onward and upwards ladies!!! on my days off I am going to have to push myself to start logging again tho because although i'm eating less in amounts, obviously with not much loss happening i'm still consuming calories over what I need. but for today just gonna head in a bit early and maybe escape a wee early this aft!!
rock on my friends!2 -
What a shame that the dietician appointment wasn't so productive. Yes, would have been good to get more help putting into practice - just knowing isn't enough!
It's a shame that the portion control alone isn't working. It's such a fine line between eating enough to lose and enough to maintain. So easy to cross. I've certainly found I've had to overshoot - eating a BIT less than I need doesn't work any more. It seems to have to be a lot less. Hence the more extreme measures recently.1 -
Monday morning greetings and salutations, hatters!
I'm on a few days off, so technically not my Monday BUT I still asked myself why I chose Mondays to weigh in when i got up this morning
I am slightly annoyed.. ok perhaps seriously annoyed that I am actually UP a pound... we are NOT amused!!
But I decided NOT to change my ticker because I only want it to show NEW loss.. so i'm leaving it where I reset it a few weeks ago when I started changing things because i'll have to lose enough to get UNDER it now to show a loss.
yes I am miffed. and gruntled. (as opposed to disgruntled... I figure gruntled is worse?)
I'm not crazed tho.. and its just made me MORE determined to get to my goal by years end... I only need 3 lbs to get me where i wanna be over the next 6 weeks and by years end... so while I intend to continue focusing on the "volume" of food I consume at each feeding, I agree totally Vail that I am going to have to start eating LESS than I think I need... and will wait to feel actual hunger .. that's a fine line for me because my biggest problem is going too long without eating and then being ravenous and pigging out without thot.. and will have to work on finding the happy medium between staving off hunger with little bits of food ... and making sure i'm actually eating those littler bits when i'm actually HUNGRY instead of just because "oh oh I might get hungry I better eat".
I think a part of me keeps wondering why it seemed easier 4 years ago when I first started to lose the weight.. I guess I tend to forget that i'm a few years older and a few years slower in moving as well... and I just haven't adjusted fully to knowing how much I need NOW to sustain but keep losing.. it makes sense it wouldn't be the same now as it was even a few years ago.. sooooooooo on ward and downwards (I can't say upwards lOLOLOL)
Hope everyone had a good weekend and will pop in to see who's out and about this week in the Hatters, and whats going on with everyone! This week is ours to do with whatever we want.. let's make it one geared to taking care of US!! Cause ya'll know in a few weeks we're gonna be into the whole "taking care of everyone and everything else" holiday mode!
hey maybe we need a hat rack for all the hats we are currently... and futurly .. gonna be wearing??
1 -
haaaaaaaaaaaaa...
figured i'd put a semi empty one up with the full one.. in case any of you wanted to add all the hats you're gonna be wearing as they come up ... wife/mother/employee/social director/hostess/gift buyer/decorator.. lololol
1 -
LOVE the hat rack Snooozie Sorry about the frustration with the scale. I'm up this week too, and like you I didn't record it to avoid MFP posting when I lose it. But then again, I may record it just to keep track and then simply delete the MFP congratulatory post when I loose it again. At any rate- we WILL loose it again !!! I totally relate to your issue and waiting too long before eating and then being so hungry that you overeat. I frequently do the same thing. So I am going to focus on that this week as well as curbing the cocktails and evening snacking.
Hope everyone enjoyed their weekends. I'm personally looking forward to a new week and wish you all a Marvelous Monday!2 -
-
Ha ha, I record all my gains, and then that gives me some extra "losses" as I'm sure everyone on my friends list is fed up with seeing! I also weigh daily, just to make it even more annoying (not that it's my goal to make it more annoying, but I do like weighing daily to track). I've been thrown by the "Lose a Stone for Christmas" challenge, because that involves a weekly weigh-in, and I always seem to be up a pound or two on the weigh-in day (Monday). I think I should be allowed to take the lowest figure for the week, because that's always the weight I count as my offical one - lol!1
-
lmao @ Susan - LOVE the hat!!
and i'm with you on the focus for this week being eating when i'm actually hungry.. but not ravenous.. hopefully will help with the smaller amounts for me although I did think it was going pretty good finally - I wish there was a shut off valve on me that would turn off automatically when I've eaten enough to keep all the mind/body parts going an won't let anything else in until I need a refueling LOL
Vail - I absolutely think you should be allowed to take the lowest figure for the week - I did an experiment on the weekend.. got up several times to use the facilities lol... and weighed myself each time.... 3 lbs difference over the 8 hrs or so... so yes indeed you should get to claim your weekly lowest!!
Ran around doing a bit of shopping this morning which most of you know I hate worse than root canal; and today was icky because I HAD to find one pair of jeans/pants to wear to work that aren't cutting me in half (I have a work uniform when I get there). I didn't want to spend a lot because they are only INTERIM ones til I get back to my goal weight and the clothes I already own that will fit me then... so I tried on a billion things (ok in my head it felt like a billion); managed to get a pair so that's done... then went for a walk at the lake on the way home .. so I burned a few extra cals with the walking for shopping as its not part of my normal day (by ANY stretch LOL). Going to do some major cleaning at home (floor scrubbing etc) so that should take care of a few extra cals.. but I am absolutely goin to have to find something that gets me OUT over the winter and gets me moving!!

Love the hat rack ,cause we do wear so many different hats and most of them at the same time!! ...like the Cat in the Hat.....remember that one? lol! I am off work today and tomorrow... so I am wearing my cleaning hat today, too , Snoozie...managed to get the nasty half bath cleaned up....I only use it for putting on make-up and only notice how filthy the make- up has the sink looking, in the mornings before work....then I never think of it...so today it was my one priority. DONE!! Plus some black bagging of things that are cluttering up the house.
Sorry about the results with the dietician. That's the reason I haven't pushed to go see one .
AS much as I love to shop, I feel the same way about going to try on Jeans...It takes so many tries to find some that do the bum justice...I just gave away a sack full to the drop box for war veterans, that made me look like the 56 year old flat bottomed lady that I am....lol I am searching for that elusive pair that is magically going to make me look 25 again....keep on looking huh? hahahah
I am up 3 or 4 lbs myself...all my own doing....so I am trying to get back without resetting the ticker, too. I have been eating too many potatoes(not chips this time)... they are my downfall. And the Pop Tarts haven't helped... Wednesday starts a new week for me !!
Hope everyone is doing great.
G1 -
Gail - I laughed at your flat bottomed lady.. its so true for me!! LOL every once in a while i'd squeeze the old .. backside and watch it rise up like the moon in the jeans and think hmm not bad.... then of course... once the posterior muscles were relaxed.... it was like oh yah.. that's what it really looks like!!
funny you should mention potatos... I have nothing against them; my fav is mashed potatos with a green onion chopped up in it.. but I rarely have them simply because cooking for one is a pain.. but I did make a scalloped potato last week.. had a weird craving and happened to have taties and onions.. its literally just potato slices and onion slices with S&P and 2 cups of whipping cream poured over it.. ya can you say healthy? NOT!! LOL but it was good and seems to have satisfied my craving ; I wonder if it's because fall is here and the cooler weather made me crave it? I dunno... but i haven't had taties for probably a couple of months now so i can live with that scallop - sadly everything else seems to be calling to me too lol... cept veggies... i REALLY haven't had a lot of veggies lately so think that will have to be my 2nd focus this week; clean out the freezer of veggies!!!1
