How long can you plank for?

Wow @auntstephie321! That's what it's about!!
I'm not hurting like yesterday, so I tried and managed 2:30!! Was on my knees, but I did raise up to full plank four times for ten seconds each! Feeling stronger every time!
Wow @karlottap that's really amazing. you've progressed so much since the beginning0 -

I'm really anxious to do more photos because I feel like my abs are looking even better. Something I realized today, I can't suck my gut in anymore lol, I was trying to to make my belly look flatter but I can't I don't have to suck in anymore cuz the muscles are firm. and when I sit my belly doesn't fold over itself anymore, it still puffs out but it doesn't roll over itself.
Sounds like great result, Stephie!
Sorry you are hurting, Karla.
Sunny Bunny, somewhere I read of your dislike of exercise...maybe this thread, they all run together after reading so many, but you remind me of myself...with a dislike of commitment to regular exercise...ugh!!
3 sets of counter pushoffs & still working on getting in 10000 steps before the end of the night.
Excellent work girls!!0 -
We are doing this! I'm really liking the results!!
Good job @Timetoloseweight!!
Just a note: the pain I was having last night was due to some repetitive movements (hanging twenty eight bags of IV fluids one after the other!) at work yesterday! It's better today, even though I repeated the same work today! Progress? My fingers are crossed that it is!! Will see what tomorrow brings!!0 -

How do you do your counter push offs? I think I want to try doing that at work on my lunch too.
Nice job! Go get those steps lol I struggle to get to five thousand most days.0 -
@karlottap the repetitive stuff gets me too but little by little I can do more and more. You aren't making baby steps your making huge steps, we only started this back on January 9th it's only been like what 7 weeks and look how far you've come in such short time. Go back and read through your original posts if you don't remember0

Today I did the Mari Windsor accelerated body slimming workout. Oh my word I thought the planks were hard lol, the ab series is insane. But if the result is abs like the girl in the video then I'm totally in.0

Thank you @auntstephie321! It has been pretty decent progress! Can't wait to see what the next seven weeks brings!0

Yes! That's me! LOL
You've probably seen me complaining is several threads!
I'm really not a fan. I go in spurts of consistency. Just have trouble with the long term...
I still need to get my plank done tonight but I have a lot of work I have to finish before I can do anything else. I shouldn't even be on here but I have to help my daughter change her insulin pump infusion set and am waiting for her to get to the part she needs my help with.
I should be planking right now!
But I also just ate dinner and my belly is too full for that. Lol0 -
hahaha...Spurts!! That's it! Sunny Bunny. I may do well for a week or so then it will be a week or so before I get back into it...But we're doing it, just on our terms!!
Oh, I can see where you would have some pain from repetitive motion, Karla ,28 !!..and it takes a while to get over it sometimes, too. do
Stephanie, I stand about 2 feet maybe less from the counter and lean in grasping the edge and push back or off like a wall push up... engaging the abs...It seems to be helping my arms and wrist strength too. Am I helping you with this description? hahaha... If not, You should see me try to give someone directions somewhere....
Keep on keeping on!!
time20 -
Lol I think so. Do you let go of the counter or hold on like doing push ups?0
-
Yes, like push ups, I just keep holding on doing as many as I can...made 50 at one time today! It's like leaning into your bathroom or kitchen counter...with hands on the edge...then push back and forth.
sorry , I'm not much good at finding pics and being able to post them so you can see, but sounds like you know what I am talking about . : )0 -
I'm on a roll, 3 days in a row!
Must be a bit tired though. Could only hold 1:17 tonight.0 -
Good for you @Sunny_Bunny_!! I did see a decrease in strength at first, but it's improved since! Hang in there!
I'm off to work again today! I must say that this full moon has affected us in some crazy ways this week! Ugh! At least I'm working with nice people today and tomorrow! Have a great day all!!0 -
Tired after my day at work!! But I made myself do it! I made it to 3:05!! That's a huge step!! It's still a knee plank, but I did raise up to a full plank for 25 seconds one time, and then 15 seconds on another try! My arms began to burn, as well as my abs, and it feels good!
I work again tomorrow which makes four days for me this week. It's the most I've worked in a week since I had my four day orientation when I started in November! I will be tired tomorrow! I believe the planking is helping me tolerate the physical part of my job more and more, since I'm not hurting like I had been! It's turning into leaps and bounds here, lol!!0 -
@Karlottap you are doing amazing!
@Sunny_Bunny_ nice job,
@Time2LoseWeightNOW thank you for the description, I did two sets today when I got my coffee
Keep up the awesome work everyone!

Well I'm going to be sore tomorrow. I pushed me than I thought I could today and my muscles are aching. I'm hopeful for no spasms in the am. I'm surprised it took me doing so much to really get the muscle soreness.0

Karla, sounds like a long day for you ! With your Fibro, Do you still find yourself exhausted with the simpliest thing sometimes?
Sunny_Bunny, 3 days in a row is great !! I am wondering if you are taking new friends? I always enjoy reading your posts, very informative info for me & my T2d.
Stephie, Glad you could figure it out.....I am horrible at directions..... Part Irish..so ....I talk with my hands, and I couldn't do that over the Keys! lol
I've got my first set of 50 done...2 more sets to go.
Hope you all have a lovely day!!

lol I know what you mean, I'm part Italian its so hard to convey what I'm saying with just words, that's why a lot of my posts will be short, I'd end up writing a novel to make sure my point was understood, which then seems like overkill. I'm not good with putting words on paper or in type
nice job I only did sets of 10 lol, I'm really sore from my other workout yesterday so I think I might need to take it easy today.0 -
OMG! I just did 3:45 with the first minute in a full plank! I am flabbergasted by the progress! Another huge step, imo!! This is helping me so much!
@Time2LoseWeightNOW , I don't suffer near as bad as I used to! When I first began working I would come home really tired, and sore. It's taken a while, but I'm finally building some stamina, and the soreness is much better! Before this woe I couldn't hang laundry without suffering with shoulder and neck spasm for a couple of days. Now, it might last a couple of hours, and then it will ease off. Pulled muscles used to stay painful for a week, or more. I couldn't get passed the pain to even want to try to work through it. I've come a very long way during this past year!
@auntstephie321! You did sets of ten?!! Wow!! Geez, you should be sore from that! But it's awesome!! Plus, with your other stuff I believe you definitely deserve a day off! Feel better hun!0 -
@karlottap that's amazing, great job!0
-
Wow! You all are really progressing well!
No plank yesterday but I'm going to get one in tonight. Just need to fix my furnace first! Ugh!0 -
Sunny_Bunny_ wrote: »auntstephie321 wrote: »@Sunny_Bunny_ I know your saying it more sarcastically. But I've learned through this past year that you can't really fail unless you stop trying. Welcome back, time to get that six pack
You're so right! That's why I don't let my lazy spells get to me too much. I know I'll get up and going again. I am much better with consistency in the warmer months. The cold shuts down my motivation more than anything else. Even if I'm not actually outside
I must have been a bear in a past life. I just want to hibernate!
Lol, me toooooo!

I've done two sets of the five minute plank program posted up in the thread. I think it's been four days in a row for that, and two of the days I did a fast paced Pilates routine in between the two sets. I've been pushing as hard as I think I can and so far I've been ok for pain.
This am my neck felt like it wanted to spasm but didn't, so I'm icing my shoulder now to hopefully prevent any spasm later on. I might take it easy today and just do house work, I'll see how I feel later.0 -
You're really doing well!
I did mine the other night. Just never came back and posted. I added in some squats with a 10lb kettle bell in each hand that I would raise over my head. I did about 5 minutes of those too.
Haven't done it yet today, but I will.0 -
Nice sunny, the little stuff really adds up it makes it easier for me to keep doing things when I don't tell myself I "have" to do a certain amount of time.0
-
10 secs shy of 2 mins when the dog hit stop on my timer from her curled up spot underneath my plank. Think I could have made 2 mins, no more, if the labrador/saluki cross inspired intervention did not cause me to collapse in hysterics.
Certainly up on previous best of 90secs!0 -
Nice work, my cat always joins in too lol it's so distracting. My one cat kept licking my forehead while the other one keeps rolling around underneath me.
2 minutes is really amazing0 -
@auntstephie321 thanks! Kind of cute and very distracting. Fortunately have not faced a mid plank lick! V funny.0
-
My last plank was successful, but led to the first headache (neck spasm) I've had from it.
Was better yesterday, but came back quickly when I attempted to plank. I decided to avoid planking today and resume tomorrow. I think I will stick with the knee plank and raising up to full plank for intervals during my time, instead of the full plank from the beginning. That step was a little to large, so I'm backing it up a bit!
@auntstephie321, you are doing so well with this!! Thanks for the inspiration!
@Sunny_Bunny_, it seems the more I succeed with the planks, the more I want to do, even if only a little. I consider some exercise to be better than none! You are doing great!
@SamandaIndia, your post made me smile! way to go!!0
