Man! Word to the wise! Use hand sanitizer EVERY TIME you leave a doctor's office! Apparently I picked up a bug that turned into sinusitis (now antibiotics......ugh!!!)!! Feel like crud!! Miss my planking (knocking and screaming like a three year old! Not really......but close, lol!)! Will be back at it tomorrow!! I'm determined dang it! @Sunny_Bunny_, you're doing great! I have yet to feel soreness until I get into position the next time, it's weird! But the strength comes!! Keep it up y'all!

No plank for me tonight because I went to the gym today!!!

I decided to try this and I did 1:40 seconds! I was happy with that for my first time. I will say that I find an elbow plank to be much more difficult. I did the fully extended one this time. I'm excited to have something to build on!!

12 seconds . Not sure my right toes would bend that way due to foot surgery. Not too bad for an old woman!

Awesome job, everyone!! ...I jumped off the plank for a while, but I am ready to get back on...
The rowing plank looks tough! And I know the Wall-sit is extremely hard to do! I am trying Karla's version of the wall plank .

I feel good enough and will be back at it today! @Jan93L, maybe try it on your knees? Save some discomfort in the toes? Just a thought! So proud of the new participants! Keep it up! It's a great way to build core strength! Plank on everyone!

I have to wear shoes because of past surgery on my left foot. I have good range of motion but this is beyond what that foot is capable of. The shoes prevent so much bending of my toes.

I forgot to post another 1:30 traditional plank last night.
Actually feel a little bit of soreness in the abs today. Not much. Just enough to know I did something.

Btw: WONDERFUL START @dietbepsi!!!! It's great to be joined our out little group here!

And @ms_smartypants!!! You have got the wall sit!! Good for you!! I haven't tried it yet. Am doing some lower body strengthening exercises now, and plan to try a wall sit soon! Will report in when I do

Yay @Sunny_Bunny_!! A little soreness as a reminder is nice. I understand that! Great time!

I have done a vertical plank for 5:20 (not bad after being ill!)!!!! I will do a horizontal plank later!

1:05 last night - Like @Sunny_Bunny_ I too notice that my abs hurt the day after I do this. The first time was the worst, I could feel it for 3 days. Now recoup time is getting less and less. Hardly nothing today, so need to push the hold next time. We're doing something! Sore in that good way.

45 seconds...my wrists started to ache. Stomach muscles are a bit sore. I finished up with some counter push offs.....It may be from that. I think I will incorporate more of those.... I can use all the muscles I can get in the stomach area...lol

All this is inspiring! I did 30 seconds on Monday, which I consider not bad since I could not hold my head out while on hands and knees at all in December. Botox shots to the back of the neck and shoulders separate the muscles and I had 9 months of these treatments. It left my neck and shoulders pretty weak, so it's pretty cool that I now have full range of motion in my neck and I can hold it out. I need to do at least 20 seconds each day to rehab my neck and shoulders. Maybe I can actually graduate to some push ups!

Nice job everyone! I love seeing all the new people joining in too. I can't believe its been a month already since this all started :)

@Time2LoseWeightNOW have you tried doing them on your elbows/forearms I can't remember if you said you did or not. it would be easier on your wrists though it is harder to do in general. the wall planks on your forearms may be helpful too, or if its a matter of keeping your wrists straight try holding dumbbells so you can wrap your hands around them and now bend your wrists.

@Sunny_Bunny_ @slimzandra glad your starting to feel that good burn in your abs :) I know how you feel, if I'm not sore after something I feel like it wasn't even worth it. I don't get too sore with the planks unless I go for a long time, but I know they're working so I'm ok with that.

nice job @kimbo8435 welcome to the group! that's super encouraging, take it slow so you don't aggravate anything. but a lot of us have found that doing this has helped to strengthen those areas without irritating the muscles. I've never been able to do this much consistently without getting spasms. start slow and progress as you can. keep us posted :)

I didn't get any planks in yesterday, I've been doing the dumbbell row ones and can do a minute of those. I've also been doing some other light weight stuff, lots of squats and one legged squats, those are crazy hard. just mixing it up. I think i'll try to do a longer plank tonight and see how it goes.

love you all good luck tonight!

Stephanie, I think they were the ones that made my wrists hurt worse.. so I quit...
But I am loving doing a version of the push up off of the counter. I think I will continue sets of those while you all do the planks. Then I may move back to the plank...Happy planking!!

I made it to 1:10 on my first horizontal plank since last Thursday (medical procedure, then ill)!!! I'm proud I was at least able to surpass my last time of one minute! Feel like I've lost time, but my baby steps will progress as they can!

@Timetoloseweight, push ups off of a counter sound like they're my beginning speed. Thanks for the heads up, and best of luck!

This is why I love this thread. I was sitting on the couch and saw @Karlottap update and realized I could get off my lazy butt and plank. Thanks lady. I was able to do 1:30 full and 1:30 on my knees with abs fully engaged.

    Feels good <3

I skipped my plank today but I did my gym machine workout. I like doing the plank on non gym days. I only go there twice a week so the planking is perfect for the other days. It's just enough without stressing my body

Thanks, Karla ...It all started from your wall plank...lol I think I get more results than I did from the planking...probably because I can last longer... I do 3 sets of 15 ....My arms are feeling it...I just need to engage the belly more.

I'm also getting in my steps while I wait on work in our office( it's just two of us , I am probably driving my co-worker crazy...oh well : / ) lol
.....11, 420 steps yesterday!! My hip flexors are SCREAMING!!!

Awesome results girls!! Keep on Planking!

Planking actually aggravated my back (and I didn't really have pre-existing back issues) when I tried a plank challenge with friends a year or so ago.

I notice the same issue. whenever I've mentioned lower back 'strain' to physical-fitness professionals, I've been told I need to strengthen my core. i.e., concentrate on holding your core tight when feeling lower back strain.

I tend to collapse at about 1 minute of a plank ...

Wow! It will be a bit before I can make it through one set! Just found out I am needed to work tomorrow, so now here it is bedtime. I'm going to take today off now that I've got to get ready for bed. I did have an idea earlier, and did some push ups on the wall (like I've been planking)! I did ten and the jury is out on whether they will cause pain. I will definitely know tomorrow. Plank on Pals!

@Karlottap That's so exciting I hope it doesn't make you sore. Make sure to take your magnesium, I've found without that I'm in a world of pain sodium too
