Howdy ya'll! Beautiful day in the neighborhood. Need to finish shopping for food and a few other items for the cabin. Then TRX and packing. Will do my gym class tomorrow morning, pack the car and then hit Costco on my way out of town (if I don't get there today)

Cindy, I am glad you are open to alternate ways to deal with your stress and we all know it has been piled on you in buckets this past year or so. I am praying this way works for you. Enjoy your vacation! I know I am going to.

Janet, how about Monday the 17th? We will find a day that works!

Bert, good luck with your staining. So happy for your friends.

Waving hi to the rest of the crew. Lots to do so better get a move on.

Hello Thursday! Such interesting readings today from everyone.

Glenn has a bruised tailbone and doctor switched him to Naproxin and colonoscopy rescheduled for 7-13.

Janet- You do seem to be pulled in many directions. Don't be taken advantage of. Your neighbiorhood group does sound like fun as well as your fourth plans though. Chill out as you planned. I subscribed to Acorn and PBS, and can't believe I missed Broadchurch last night!! I hope BBC has it on Demand.

Cindy- Hynosis sounds right up your alley. Do what you need to. I've got to also.

Patti- Sounds like you got some wonderful items. Happy late birthday. I'm glad you had your day with the coworker, why does Joann's permit that? We have rude help at ours too. I am meeting a lady today after work and buying 13 pieces of fleece for $15. Cute patterns and 1-2 yards of each. Yea!

    Bert- Blessings on your friends.

Thanks for clarifying the mud room. Like Bert I am using my garage entrance and small laundry room entrance for this

I'm at work today, but have a fun day planned of picking Brittany and Braden and Izzy up tomorrow and making shrimp puffs, bread rolls and a dessert dip for Saturday's adult gathering.

I am going to try a new weightloss group of some sort myself, I just can't focus!!

Good Morning, Ladies. It's going to be a hot one today as it was yesterday. The boys and their families are traveling home this weekend. I think it's a good thing for them all to be together and spend time with their dad, but I'll be glad to have them home. They've sent me pictures throughout the week, so that's been good. I wish Dan, Annie, Dylan, and Penny lived closer, but it's only a 4 hour drive to Chicago; not bad.

I don't know if my friend was released yesterday, I'll text her this morning. My other friend went home Wednesday evening. I talked with her yesterday, and she's glad to be home. She has to wear her "life vest" for 3 months to monitor her heart.

Eating was pretty good yesterday. Have a good day, everyone!

    Good morning ladies-
Bert - so glad to hear your friends are on the mend and the kids on enroute to home.
Karla- sorry to hear about Glenn's tailbone- I'm sure he'll need to rest a bit and you'll pamper him.
Patti- have a great time at the cabin
    Diane- happy trails to you
Janet- being a turtle is as important to our soul as soaring like an eagle
    Suzi- hows things
I've taken care of paperwork, started laundry and had one cup of coffee so far. Most LR related and I've signed up for a juried book fair in Northampton Ma- high art area and about 90 minutes from home. Hopefully they'll accept me as it would be great exposure.
I also requested information on a book fair in Boston- that one is also invitation only. These things are so hard to get into- but I am trying to get out there and make a name for myself. In case you've missed it I can be a tad impatient and driven. LOL
I've had a good food week and eating more mindful. It helps to have fresh greens from the garden daily. Need to get back to the LR world but wanted to say hello.

Welcome to the weekend. I am running late because I stayed up too late. Gym then home to finish packing and then will pick up my son ( his wife went to the cabin yesterday as did Edd). Will make for a nice rid, just can't put the top down as the trunk will be full. Will check in as I can during the week but it will be sporadic. Haven't seen my cousin since Christmas so am really looking forward to some time with her and her husband.

Have a safe and happy holiday.

Hello ladies and welcome to the long 4th of July holiday. I have several things planned. Tonight we are having dinner in Ocean Springs with Glenn's daughter and husband and going over health coverage. Her husband is an agent with many companies. Saturday afternoon I have the three couples that went on the cruise coming over for our first bbq supper club. Connie is hosting next month. Glenn has to work on Monday and I have to go to my family practice office just for an hour, but the podiatry office is closed. I'm going to see if I can have a facial and a massage afterwards!!

I've made a decision to try Dr. Ruth Shields weightloss clinic, or at least go for the free interview and see if its a fit for me. I just can't stay focused and I am tired of hovering at this weight. She is a board certified weightloss physician, which is rare, and she is a gynecologist. She was in the same office as my 29 year GYN doctor and ran his Medi-loss clinic for a while. Her clinic is called A Healthy Weight For Me and sounds very much like it is customized to your desires. I have a call into them now.

Patti- Have fun, as always, at your cabin with family and friends.

Cindy- Thanks for the inspiration to DO SOMETHING about my weight as you are taking a step on yours too. We are all so blessed you are in our lives.

Janet - I hope you are having the quiet time you need and your other friends and their issues are at bay right now. You are there for so many people and sometimes it needs to be turned around for you. I know how it feels to always be the strong one!

I have Izzy and we are going to makes some shrimp puffs and some cookies for my gathering tomorrow night. Then a swim before I do her hair for a wedding she is in this evening.

    Happy Anniversary to our Nation.

Hi, all. Sounds like everyone is doing well personally.

Patti, I have the 17th penciled in. Small possibility I may not be free that day but fingers crossed. Need a Patti hug!

No turtle time for me yesterday but hope to create more quiet around me this weekend and make the coming week quieter. And I hope my dear friends, you included, have less stress too! My sociable time at best friend Mary's will be restorative, as will the drive each way. My eating has been better this week but not quite where it needs to stay.

Karla, hope this doc will get you jump-started. Please keep us posted! Does Glenn have to sit on a donut or coccyx cushion? Dueevhope the naproxen helps with inflammation & pain.

I copied the photo of your shrimp puff recipe and will see if I can read it. Shrimp - yum. Haven't watched Broadchurch yet but just checked and my cable system does have it available On Demand. An escape to England is always a good thing. Hope to go again for real, maybe next year if things calm down here.

Bert, I trust everyone's home safely. Reunions are always smile-inducing. (Just re-read that sentence and laughed because I'm typing this on my phone and autocorrect turned your name into "Beet" again.

Cindy, so glad you're submitting to juried events. Enjoy every second of vacation. Hope the weather is with you.

Diane, hope the road is bringing beautiful scenery and many laughs as you wind your way through our beautiful country. Where will you spend the 4th?

Suzi, fingers crossed that the OK weather will cooperate for your getaway.

Hope I haven't been too whiny this week - my empathy glands have been taxed to their limit, all for good reasons -?and for people I treasure. I usually try not to wish for more, but a lottery win big enough to cover a Real Vacation sure would be nice! This fall for sure, and maybe before then I can at least visit Atlanta friends.

Helping my closest Boston friend with her resume was a fun but time-consuming thing (probably 18 unplanned hours this week) but her resume reviewer OK'd it yesterday. She will be fine but is justifiably shaken at being unemployed - corporate consolidation killed her department and she stretched it out as long as she could. And my best guy friend had an exceedingly stressful week and we've been talking a lot too. A couple other very close friends are going through strange times and I must do what I can to support them. Add my personal schedule, plus trying to wrangle a cat to vet. Add my personal stuff (PT, etc.) and I am just drained.

This coming week will be another very busy one and I will try to do more to carve out quiet time, even if it means not returning calls instantly. Oh, that 5 6 hours in the car each way sounds like heaven to me. But first, Saturday lies ahead and I am ready for it.

Love you all lots. Let's figure out how each of us can get back on track with eating and use our bond to support each other even more effectively.

Good Morning, Ladies. My tooth cracked this morning. I'm calling my friend/dentist to see if he would be willing to go to the office to put in a temporary covering. I certainly hope so.

Karla: I need something, too. I'm tired of the weight I'm at, and can't do it on my own. I can't stay focused either. However, I'm not considering WW; however, that is where I initially lost all my weight.

Janet: "Beet" was appropriate as I was certainly red faced yesterday trying to paint/prime woodwork for the bathroom. It was so hot yesterday!

Patti: Have a great time with your cousin.

Cindy: Good luck with the book fair.

Have a great day, everyone! My kids are coming home! Woo Hoo!

Bert, hope the tooth gets taken care of quickly, even temporarily. A holiday weekend with a toothache is just not what anyone needs. Glad the kids are coming home too. Guaranteed hugs and smiles!

Karla, you are going to have some spread for your party! How many people?

Cindy, got my replacement mug. Thanks!

Managed to get Bella to the vet this morning, Got dressed at 5 AM and went back to bed. Put shoes on at 7 and plopped on top of bed. Then I could pluck her up (with extreme guilt) from the bed and get her into the carrier. They took blood to check but exam was good, especially for being 14 1/2, (aside from her being so tiny - just 6.5 pounds - hyperthyroid) so far. Theo goes next week. It stresses us all out but it's necessary.

OK, going to run a few errands, then settle in to get some things done and maybe get a solid night tonight! Hugs to all.

Quick check in for now. I'll try to get back later after reading some of this week's posts. Need to let y'all know what's going on here.

Tuesday afternoon Dave called from the lake to tell me Dinky, our 11-year old puppy dog was vomiting blood and he was at the vet down there. Jessi and I were already on the way to join Dave and the dogs. We got to the vet clinic just as they were faxing the horrible lab results to our regular vet. Both vets recommended we get Dinky to the pet ER & specialty hospital in OKC. The poor baby was so sick and so weak he couldn't even lift his little head when he tried to look at me while I was holding him. We didn't think he would survive the 2-hour (at rush hour) drive to OKC, but thankfully he did. He was in doggy intensive care for 3 days and we finally brought him home last night. He's still pretty weak, but is up and around between naps. Still don't have a conclusive diagnosis. They sent lab work to OSU, but don't have results yet. We're now hopeful for a full recovery, but he's not completely out of the woods yet.

    Good Morning, Ladies.

Suzi: So sorry to hear about Dinky. Hopefully, you will get a diagnosis and he will be able to make a complete recovery. Pets are part of our family and they are like our children as well. I took care of Greg and Carrie's Pomeranian this week while they vacationed with Greg's dad. When they brought her, the vet said they might be facing an eye removal as there was blood in her eye. I do think it has cleared up somewhat with the drops I put in her eye four times a day. She's 13. I'm hoping the drops will take care of the problem.

Janet: Hope you get good results for Bella and Theo.

Have a great day, everyone! Off to get ready for church.

Suzi, thinking of you and Dinky. Glad you acted quickly and hope he will be feeling much better soon. Please keep us posted.

Bert, thanks for the good thoughts. Will get Bella's results tomorrow and Theo's checkup is later this week. It's impossible to corral two cats by oneself! (Dogs are so much easier to get to the vet: "Do you want to go for a ride?")

Need a nap. Hugs to all. Out of pocket most of tomorrow and Tuesday but will check in when able.

Good Morning, Ladies. My contractor just called and said he couldn't come until Wednesday. Actually, I'm relieved as I didn't get things cleaned up as well as I wanted. I've spent the last 3 days trying to get the door painted. I'm not actually happy with it, but it's the inside of the door, and we hardly ever shut it. The next homeowner can deal with it. The next step is staining the door casing and the outside of the door. I needed a break, so I'm happy to have a couple of days off.

Have a great day, everyone! Eating was good until dinner yesterday. (sigh)

Hello, friends. Hope everyone is having a capital 4th.

Suzi, how is sweet Dinky? It's been on my mind.

Cindy, hope your vacation is restorative so far. My book was waiting for me in the mailbox. Thanks!

My quick Ohio trip (30 hours!) was worth it. Had a great time with my best friend. The fireworks could be seen perfectly from her patio and afterward we had a spirited game of euchre - her son and I won both games. Let myself eat a holiday dinner - couple of non-greasy wings, pulled pork sandwich, a few bites of coleslaw and potato salad, some fruit and a brownie. So be it. No alcohol though.

Very tired so going to veg out. Hugs to all.

Good Morning, Ladies. We had a wonderful 4th! We went to Greg and Carrie's and watched the neighborhood fireworks. They were professional! Wonderful show! Last night, several neighbors shot off their fireworks. So, we had fun watching that and finally got to watch the Boston Pops on tv. They haven't been on tv for several years.

Janet: I love to play euchre. We have a Euchre club at church and play once a month. No alcohol! Hmmmmm... :D Greg made me a "John Daley". It's Arnold Palmer tea/lemonade and vodka. I only had a small one.

My friend, who had a heart attack, is back in the hospital. She has fluid in her lungs which is causing her to cough. They are giving her lasix to help her get rid of he fluid. We went to visit yesterday, and I'm planning on going this morning.

Have a great day, everyone! Breakfast is tracked.

    Hi Ladies-
Back from camp for a short time- I'm actually doing the Mom deep clean- she arrives on Saturday afternoon for a visit.
    Suzi- How is Dinky???
Janet- so glad your Ohio trip was balm to your soul.
Bert- you made me chuckle with "the next owner" we do need to always think ahead
Karla- How was the BBQ extravaganza?
Patti- Hope you're having a blast at the cottage-
We spent a few days at camp which was nice, relaxing and more like old times. Rick is still struggling and he gets wound up about stupid stuff that has nothing to do with zip. Yesterday we drove by Emily's new house- she closes on the 18th and the lawn is in rough shape- so he starts to go on and on about how are they going to take care of a lawn when they're so busy and they shouldn't ask everyone to help them. Two minutes later he says he'll help Em... and so it goes. I guess when you read that you won't think its a big deal but his anxiety and paranoia runs away with stuff. I am beginning to suspect he doesn't have the right combo of drugs. But his doctor did say up to 6 months so I need to see how it rolls.

Almost done with the first edit of Magic- waiting to hear on the juried event and one in Boston in March. Fingers crossed.
Need to run- talk to yo all soon-
    Stay focused on you today

Hello dear friends. It is a quiet, rainy day. We have the place to ourselves for the first time since I arrived last Friday. Today we are celebrating 30 years of marriage. It amazes me to think of all that we have shared, endured, experienced and survived. I wouldn't change a moment because it has brought us to where and who we are. Our personal mantra is: "It's all part of the great adventure!" And we have had more than our fair share of adventure! I am well and truly blessed with my husband, family, friends and my life.

It has been a great week. Lots of sunshine, laughter, friendship, boat rides, campfires, food, fireworks....a few minor injuries and minimal drama. Calling it a total success. Not expecting any guests this weekend. Son and DIL taking us to dinner tonight to an awesome steak joint so am eating light til then.

Signal is iffy so better post while I can.

Hugs to all, back on Sunday

Patti, happy anniversary to you and Edd!!!!! 30 is certainly deserving of a good steak - enjoy. Glad you're having fun and get some downtime too.

Cindy, sorry Rick is still so troubled. You are doing a great job jeeping things in perspective and I respect and admire you for that.

Suzi, what's the Dinky update? Been thinking of you and the little guy often.

Bert, how did your friend seem? Glad she is where they can monitor and help her.

Karla, bet you're spending lots of time in & around your pool.

Diane, you are covering lots of beautiful territory - enjoy each day.

Had PT today - she'll send a note to the surgeon, whom I see Monday. Theo goes to the vet for his annual exam tomorrow morning - wish me luck getting him crated - he's a big dude, but so sweet. I'll pick up more of Bella's thyroid-suppressing meds and she'll get checked after a month of increased dose. Got groceries and have been doing dumb stuff for the last few hours. Bloodwork next Tuesday for upcoming primary care visit. Hoping to burrow in her over the weekend and finally get more progress made on things here.

Eating has been spotty but improving. Hugs to everyone!

Good Morning, Ladies. Another hot and humid day is in store for today. I'm heading to the gym for the first time in I don't know how long. I've been consumed with the bathroom reno, visiting friends in the hospital, and working on the musical program book. I do get in 10K steps, I'm not sure how though, but I'll take it.

My brother is doing better. He's gained a few pounds. He's trying cannabis (sp?) oil to help with attacking the cancer. I hope it works for him. My teacher friend is still taking IV antiobiotics for the pneumonia and will see her cancer doctor next Tuesday. My church friend is doing a little better but will have a long road to recovery as her heart attack was very serious.

Patti: Happy Anniversary! Glad you are relaxing.

Janet: Hope all is well with Bella, Theo, and your bloodwork results.

Has anyone heard of Shakeology? I have a friend who swears by it. When I checked prices, it was $130 for a 30 day supply. I think that's very pricey, but she says it is well worth it. With being on a fixed income, I can't justify spending that much for a powdered shake.

    Have a great day, everyone!

Bert, glad to hear your brother is doing better and that your friends are getting excellent care. But it's a bummer about the door. Sheesh. I've heard of Shakeology and know people who like and those who don't like it. That's very pricey - multilevel marketing stuff tends to cost much more than it should.

Patti, how was the steak dinner?

Karla, what's new in AL? Is it brutally hot yet? My friends in Atlanta have had so much rain - hope it hasn't been as bad there.

Got Theo to/from the vet without incident. This particular vet just loves him & said that he seems like he's much younger than 14 1/2 in every way. Both cats seem to have forgiven me for the disruptions (treats help).

What's everyone's weekend going to include? Hoping for time to get stuff done here - boring but it's really been draining & stressing me out to have been pulled in so many directions the last few weeks. Twice a week PT kills a chunk of each week. Next week's schedule is full but hope to get things calmed down by around the 20th, when I may zoom back over to SC for a few days. My friend and I want to see "Dunkirk" together and I can use the quiet of the ranch again. Cindy, I want to read "Looking Glass" and am trying to carve out time to lose myself in it!

Much love to all as we enter the weekend. TGIF! Let's all commit to one "NO" this weekend to something that we know isn't good for us.

Quick drive by, I have a quiet moment on the deck with my coffee and my thoughts immediately brought me to all of you. My anniversary steak dinner was as good as the company. Thank you all for your blessings on our special day. Yesterday was hot and humid but still better than being home. We got storms here just as I took dinner off the grill. Then my son and all his visitors came over for an evening filled with lots of talk and laughter as the rains raged outside. An all together wonderful day in my paradise. The men worked all day putting a new axle on our large dock, it rusted and fell off when we took it out last year. Today they will put it in the water and then I think we will do some boating. Son's boat is still broken so I think we are loaning him ours and we will hang with the neighbors. In other words, another great day in store.

Eating.....oh my, need to get it together after this week in a very serious WAY!

Back to the real world with you all on Monday. That includes tracking and finding/following a plan that works for me. Miss you all

Hi ladies, sorry missing in action but enjoying the summer fun and grandkids. Plus I am fast trying to plan our big road trip for next month. Glenn finally gave me the itinerary and goes as below:

    Branson - two days
    Nebraska - four days
    Utah - four days
    Nevada- 2 days (las Vegas)
    San Antonio - two days
    Home

    Looks like fun eh?

I had a fun pool day yesterday with DIL from Glenn's middle son and their three sons. She made homemade guacamole, she is the professional chef. Yum.

Patti- My eating has been over the top also. I have a consultation with that Healthy Weight For Me clinic on the 17th, although timing is awful, I need to go. We can get it together, we did it before.

Cindy-how much do I owe you on the signed book copy? Have you thought of a Christmas book for London series yet? I can just picture that beautiful community all decorated in bows and garland and Christmas trees.

We are at the credit union moving the car loan over from the other bank

Good and glorious morning. Janet's kind of weather. Having my last cup of coffee with the hummingbirds until next weekend. Yesterday was a working day, no boating for us. Did a lot of clearing on on the beach and built a huge bonfire which we shared with our son and his crew. Today we put the big dock in, mow and trim, take the boats out, clean the cabin and pack up. All so I can get home and do laundry, grocery shop and generally get back to my routine. Anxious to see Mom and catch up on all her news. She is planning on going to lunch with me and the girls on Wednesday. Then the usual work, gym and basic life stuff. My gf is having her rotator cuff surgery on Friday so I will be at the hospital with her husband and my other gf. I will check in later tonight or tomorrow. I do have a plan for my eating......STOP! LOL! I am going to check out Dr Travis Stork's Healthy Gut Diet. Not to be indelicate, but I have been having lots of issues in that area.

    Until we meet again,

    Good morning all,

Patti - I am with you girlfriend. All the way. I have not had stomach issues, but my reflux has acted up a couple times. I did get with my doctor, after Glenn's colon doctor confirmed he did not believe in being on long term Omeprozole. She switched me to prescription strength Precid, but the nurse said it was in the same line as the Omeprozole. I think I just need to try and get off of it completely and adjust my diet accordingly, if possible, if that is what's causing it. You are SO active in what you do, you never sit down, plus your work and gym classes are over the top. Your system is just very stubborn, as is mine. Good luck with your Dr. Travis. Is he the one from the TV show?

Bert - I have heard of those shakes. I tried them before and they were expensive. Like anything else, they work if you follow the complete program. Water, exercise, food intake. Ugggh.. lol.

Janet - Were you able to carver out a low-key weekend with limited phone calls? Drama? I hope so.

So far on our amazing retirement trip I have booked, with Wyndham, the Branson two night stay and the two night stay in San Antonio. As well I am splitting up the Utah days with a stay in Colorado. I have booked 3 nights in Steamboat Springs. I am still trying to get something booked in Las Vegas and Utah. I have never been on a trip of this magnitude, I am getting so excited.

Another exciting episode in our life is I am sending off the last payment on our house. Yes!! We paid this home off that we built in 2005. It won't be 12 years old until October. So we paid it off in less than 12 years. For that, I am proud. As I stated yesterday, I got the loan on the new car moved over to the credit union and got that payment down 65.00 and that is the ONLY bill we will have going into retirement, besides insurance, utilities, food, etc. Which, as you all know, will be quite enough!!

I plan on keeping my two clients for at least through the end of this year and see what Glenn ends up doing with his next career move. He wants to do something for the next two years in a part time way. I'm trying to work strictly out of the home but the podiatrist wants to see me in the office. I have not even told him about me being out for 2.5 weeks next month. LOL. I will have my laptop and can do his transmissions from the road. But he says, and I must say, it is true, the ladies act much different when I am there.

I have been baking to clear out the leftover buttermilk and ripe bananas. Geez, what great recipes I have made. I made some to die for buttermilk mashed potatoes and Donut Muffins with the buttermilk. Yesterday I made banana pudding and this morning I have two loaves of banana nut bread in.

I better check my bread. I don't know why I didn't use my convection lower oven!!

Karla, are you driving or flying to all your destinations? I could easily stay a week in each spot, except Branson, never had a desire to go there for some reason. You are definitely covering a lot of ground in a short period of time.
I have reflux also but have figured out what triggers it and I avoid that stuff. I took meds for about a week after my egd and none since. My issues are further down in my GI track and it is starting to get annoying. I tried probiotics and that made it 10 times worse. Really hoping the plan works. Dr Stork is on the TV show the Dr's.
I made a peach cobbler bread with peach cream cheese icing. Everyone loved it. I am always surprised when anything I bake turns out!

Patti - We are driving, flying would be outrageous. Too much time spent sitting in the airport and costly. The Avalon is getting 29 miles per gallon! it is only 5-6 hours between each place, with the exception of Las Vegas and San Antonio. We are splitting that one up with a hotel. The shorter stops, Branson ,Las Vegas and San Antonion, are places we have already been. We are staying four nights in Steamboat Springs and four nights in Utah, which are new places to us. The other places are stops along the way. We are visiting his aging relatives for four days in Lincoln, Nebraska, but just chilling out in Branson and San Antonio. The Wyndham resorts are luxurious and awesome within themselves. You know me, l love the linens, the view, the Starbucks and the ambiance. LOL. I am not outdoorsy, so I would not be hiking in Colorado. I am anxious to see Salt Lake City and would have like more time there I imagine. Another trip. We will be gone from August 12 through August 29th. We are both excited about it.
