I ran that Grandma’s too and it was a hard one! Regarding the calf tightness, what have you tried so far to relieve it? Typically pain like that’s a sign your body is compensating for weakness elsewhere. May want to invest in getting a running assessment done. Some of the running stores offer that on a periodic basis. Did that after I had IT band issues and it made a huge difference. Now have a routine set of exercises pre and post runs and haven’t had an issue since. Worth it!
Thanks for the tip. I’ll see if a store in Rochester or my local Physical therapist does that.
So far, at the suggestion of my chiropractor, I’ve been seeing a massage therapist, and she includes my calf in my session. I may try a different massage therapist that my boyfriend swears by. I do some strength workouts and I stretch and foam roll. I’m hoping I can get my old leg back some day. I’m only 32...

I'll start training for my first Triathlon (sprint) at the end of March5

I've got Broad Street 10 miler in May. Up to 5 miles long distance. To think, 2 years ago a 5 miler would be a typical weekday run. Sucks to have to start back at square one. Thanks car accident!1

I hated sports and physical activity when I was a kid and through my 20s. Hence the obesity! But, since December 1st, 2017 I've dropped 26 pounds and took up jogging on a treadmill in Janurary. Started running outside in Februrary/March during Wisconsin's Spring of Deception seasons. I'm 2 months out from my 5K and my indoor time is 34min without incline/37min with incline of 1. Outside I'm not doing as well, averaging around 38, but my route has bery variable terrain and my first race course is pretty flat. My goal is to finish the 5K race in 32min without significant walking! Does this seem too ambitious? Not ambitious enough?
Given that you still have almost two months, I'd say it is very possible. Actually, you may do a lot better, especially if you continue to lose weight. I am always surprised at how much better I do at races than I do running on my own. I suggest gradually increasing the distance you run so you are running around 6 miles for your long run before your race. It will help give you the endurance and stamina you need to do well at the 5k distance.1 -
An 8 mile hill climb with a barbecue at the top! Very excited, really interested to see who else shows up.0

They have a shuttle! The road is actually closed this time of year and only open for this event, so the only people at the top will be runners!1 -

I ran Wineglass a few years ago. Was perhaps the coldest race they've ever had. So cold the water cups froze and the GU gel blocks turned solid. I almost broke a tooth!1 -
I have a 10k in November that I'm already signed up for, and there is a 10k and a half that I am considering between now and then, but I am quite liking being able to run for the enjoyment of running instead of because I'm training for another race.2

I just completed my first full marathon on Saturday. The Ogden Marathon in Utah. It was amazing. I'm going to sign up for another one (Huntsville, also in Utah) in September. I have a 7 mile trail race in July and a half marathon in western NY in August. I'll just focus on overall health and fitness during June. I think.3

This afternoon I got a weird urge to try to set a PR in the 5K and 10K distances this summer. Summer is the off-season for me as far as long distance running, so I might as well go for something like that. I haven't run a paved 10K in 3 years. And that PR will be very easy to beat. The 5K will be a little bit challenging though, but I think I can do it with some targeted workouts.3

100k in September - 7 Valley Ultra Run in Poland3

Right now, I'm training to nip incipient Achilles tendinitis in the bud. Once that's accomplished, I'll gradually transition into easy training for Wineglass Marathon on September 30. Given the time frame, finishing healthy is the goal. I don't expect a PR, even though it's an easier marathon course than I've ever run.0

My next race is the Silesian Highlands Half Marathon, also in Poland (Półmaraton Wyżyny Śląskiej) at the end of June. It will be my first longer-than-5k trail race.1 -
Long Beach Marathon. I was going to shoot for a 3:30 but I don't think I'll have enough time to train for that. I'll be happy to PR with a time less than 3:52 (2017 Vegas RnR).1

Training starts on Monday for Bridlington half marathon.
Aparently it's a flat course so I'm hoping for a PB :bigsmile:2 -
I am training for my first half. I am doing the Rock and Roll San Antonio half and 5K in Dec. My goal is to just run the whole thing. Last month the most I had ever ran without stopping was 3 miles!2

@notafatmommy I've done two RnR races and they were a lot of fun. Lots of crowd support, lots of cool music, and well organized.1 -
Not sure if I posted yet but training has 'officially' begun for Wineglass. I'm hell bent on hitting my target pace this year even if I hit the wall at the end. I won't know if I can do it until I try it.3

Training for my second marathon in October. Also just signed up for Red Bull Quicksand. Is only a mile course but is up some apparently brutal sand dunes so will be an interesting event1
