Surgery is 14th March. We're 4 days in to the optifast week and she has already lost 2kg (4.4lb). I'm so proud of her. She's doing it tough but she keeps going.

I found another motivating factor for my weight loss today. I went to the shops to buy a new racer back bra. Because im a large person it is really hard to find one. Then i was looking at all the star wars clothes and other nice stuff and none of it is in larger sizes. It's like once you get past a size 16 (aussie sizes) you have no sense of style. It really peeved me big time. Yup i know i got myself to this size through sheer neglect but others don't and they have virtually nothing to pick from in clothes. It has given me my first real (apart from being healthy) non scale goal to strive for. I want to be able to go to the department store and pick something trendy to wear. I may be 43 but i certainly dont dress like i am. I started my goal by buying myself a really cool pair of star wars (yes i am a total geek) pyjamas. They are a size 16-18 (again aussie sizes). I dont fit them yet as I amn a comfortable size 20 but im hoping that by the time winter hits in a few months i can wear them. I'm already picturing myself working harder at the gym.

Yesterday I saw the nutritionist whom I have to say is fabulous. I now have a definite plan of what to eat and what to avoid. I am no longer calorie counting but I will still be logging here so keep track of what im eating. I will start week after next after my partner has finished the optifast stage of pre surgery. I'm hoping between the revised eating plan and the new program at the gym I will finally start seeing some changes.

Star Wars is motivational. I know what you mean I saw some really cool t-shirts that were women's but they only went up to XL and was fitted. I should buy one for a mini goal. I didn't want to buy men's. Great idea @khatmott !!!!!!!

Went shopping today and there was a 5th grader with her mom in the changing room with us - she had the CUTEST stuff!!!! I SO wish that they had shoes, clothes, and pretty much everything in all sizes and all styles. Just 'cuz we're older and bigger doesn't mean we don't like cute stuff.

My poor sister wears size G-cup bras. While in target the biggest size they have is D (three sizes too small give or take) and even those were BORING. The closest size with anything cute was a B! Not fair, not fair!!!

Also REALLY jealous of the light-up sneakers and jelly-flip-flops! I have anywhere between a size 9 and size 11 foot (depending on brand, type, and which foot) and NONE of them are as cute as the 10-year-old shoes. :(

Wow the highs and lows of getting healthy and being active. Yesterday I was celebrating so many non scale and scale wins. I have lost 2kg (4.4lb). I was able to complete a full core session and do many exercises without stopping. I felt like i could conquer the world. Today i woke quite body weary cause i really smashed it at the gym yesterday but ploughed on non the less. I was 3/4 of the way through my functional training day doing step ups and wham, there goes my calf muscle. I'm no expert but im thinking a grade 1-2 tear. I can't stride out when i walk and when i go to push off that leg it hurts. So devastated. I was on such a roll and now this is going to set me back. Granted I am still going to be able to do some things at the gym like my strength day as it doesn't involve me pushing off my calf muscle but my functional and cardio days are in jeopardy. I have made an appt with my physio to hopefully try and get some ultrasound on it but can't get in til next Friday. So for now ice is my friend and rest. I hope this doesn't dent my motivation.

Ah *kitten*, that's brutal. Make sure that you don't hurt it more until you see a specialist. It may be a strain right now, and you don't want it to turn into a major tear.

Sadly it's already acting like a grade 1-2 tear

Ouch! Take care of yourself and definitely see a doctor! Don't want to do permanent damage. Good luck and feel better!

Ah that sucks! I hope you heal quickly. I'm guessing tears take their own sweet time though. Push yourself in other areas to keep your motivation up. From what you've been sharing, it sounds like you're rocking your exercise routines. I really think you'll get through this with motivation intact and many more non scale victories.

SO I went to the physio and its confirmed a grade two tear of the musculotendinous junction of the calf. The good news is that while it is a bit uncomfortable to walk, I can still do most of my program at the gym with a few modifications. I'm totally stoked about that. With my partner's surgery coming up in 36 hrs I am going to need an outlet and the gym is perfect for that. So hopefully we are still all systems go and next week i start on the eating plan my nutritionist has set out for me. I'm busy planning menus now.

I'll be praying for you and your partner during this weekend for peace and during her surgery. Glad your tear isn't going to stop you from the gym, just be sure you don't hurt yourself more.

Had an awesome session at the gym today. For the first 40 mins i had the gym all to myself. Music pumping i ripped into my routine. Leg felt really good. I really pushed myself today and by the end i knew i had done a workout. Had to do something as I had a blow out the night before. I blame PMS and a weakened resolve but there was chocolate Easter eggs and a lot of salty food involved. I want to keep my downward trend happening on the scales. I have 4 weeks left to reach my mini goal of 110kg (242.5lb) for my friend's daughters naming day/birthday. Going by my old scales when i started this goal i am 113.9kg (251lb) so I have another 3.9kg (8.5lb) to lose in the next 4 weeks. Now that my partner's fasting stage is over (surgery is in 12 hrs) I will be following the plan outlined by my nutritionist. He says i could lose anywhere between 0.5 and 2kg (1.1 and 4.4lb) a week. I'm hoping this is the case.
I have a set of Star Wars Pj's i need to fit into come winter in about 8 weeks.
