@NewOR2015 I'm glad you are home safely. I'm with you. I don't know who Wolverine is either. I have heard of the movie Mama Mia but I haven't seen it. I am familiar with the hit song from the movie. I listen to audio books in the car and at work. When I listen to music, it's usually Christian rock or praise and worship on Amazon prime, pandora, or spotify. I don't have children or tv so I am seldom up on what's current.0

Wolverine is a comic book character. He's always been a bit rebellious and a loner, although he has been part of a group of mutant heroes known as The X-Men. Then, a movie came out and the actor who played Wolverine is pretty good-looking. https://images-eu.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/G/02/uk-dvd/fox/Wolverine4.jpg

Ooh! He's a cutie! I do know some abbreviations but I had to look up HTH. LOL!!! When I got back on MFP I had to look up NSV. Believe it or not, I have a sister who is 53 and if I live under a rock, she lives in a cave. She does have tv but only free channels. She and her husband aren't on any form of social media. I have to educate her. Scary isn't it!!! We live very sheltered lives.0
-
Thanks for educating me. I googled Wolverine to see the cutie. I rarely go to the theater. Popcorn is a trigger food for me, and I can never watch a movie without stuffing my face with popcorn with butter (or the stuff they call butter).0

I adore Wolverine. He is one of my favourite superheroes, but Hugh Jackman has said that the movie next year is his last in the role. It is an incredibly demanding role in a physical sense and he is getting older and feels he cannot do it to the level the role needs. I'm cautious about who they replace him with.
This has been a great week. Between fitness and bjj technique at my club, knee rehab and classes at my new gym, I'm really suffering with DOMS, but it means I'm getting more active so I'm happy about that. I have not been logging food and have eaten badly, but I know that I will get back into routine next week!0 -
Glad everyone is doing well this week. I've been in lots of meetings and attempting to break in a new psychiatrist. A therapist is out tomorrow so I'll be running a couple of groups but I'll try to catch up sometime!

OMG- you all have to make this! It is called Zucchini Pasta With Avocado Cream Sauce and is so good! This is my first time growing zucchini, so I was looking for a recipe for a side dish (I don't want to make zucchini bread or fried zucchini). This was so good! My husband really liked it, and I love that it is no cook! Such a nice, cool side to make on a summer's day. I don't have a spiralizer, so I just used my peeler to make "noodles".
@1skholloway -- There's something to be said for being unconnected. On the other hand, it's a nice way to keep up with everyone, especially in my family where a bunch of us live apart. But, it can get out of hand. I also don't have any children so there are some things I just don't get.
@NewOR2015 -- I can now have a small popcorn and be satisfied with it. Or, I'll just have a big diet coke. Not that great for me, but better than the alternative. However, I only go to the movies about 3 or 4 times a year. Sometimes I feel that EVERYTHING is a trigger food. o_O
@CaptainBoing --Ouchy! Do you have any rest days scheduled?? Now you've got me wondering about the next Wolverine, too! Glad you will be able to get BOT soon!
@blitzbis -- Hope they don't work you too hard!0 -
@JanolaBarbara I printed that recipe. Looks great. Can't wait to try it. I think I'll avoid telling Chris (husband) about the avocado since he won't be able to see it!
So far so good today. Chris is on an exercise kick lately and I believe I mentioned that he has entered the last run I have for the 14th. Well, he decided to run some yesterday on the highway to start getting used to the pounding on asphalt (he's been using our elliptical). I decided I would walk with him and then for some ungodly reason I decided to do a light run also....and reinjured my knee. POO. It's not bad and I don't really know what the problem is. Usually when I tape it it does better, but maybe it's not taped right today as I am still having a noticable limp. Oh well. I keep telling myself no more running until you lose more of this weight, but then walking just takes sooooo long.
I'm also irritated that now that Chris is exercising and has changed his eating habits some he's dropping weight like you wouldn't believe and I'm sitting here at counting calories (mostly) and have been exercising off and on for several years and still yo-yo. I'm trying to be very supportive of Chris and brag on his success, but it's really frustrating me. But I have to realize that things can't always be about me!
Hope you are all having a great friday!0 -
I've always heard that men lose weight faster than women. Then again, I don't want fast weight loss. I want permanent weight loss.0

Today's thought: I'm in control of my life; my stomach isn't.2
-
Yesterday's thought copied from an MFP friend's post - A one hour workout is only 4.17% of your day - No Excuses....1

2 days in control now. Taking 1 day at a time.

@1skholloway I like that thought. I may put it in the rotation of little inspirational tidbits around the house.0
-
Forgive me. I failed to give proper credit for today's thought. It was not an original thought by me. It was copied from today's "Devotions for Dieters."0

@1skholloway -- That's a great thought. I should keep that in mind. Since it's TOM right now, I definitely feel that my tummy is in control. :-(
@blitzbis -- Life isn't fair sometimes. At least you recognize the importance of supporting your hubby, even when it's frustrating for you. At least you keep at it! Never give up, never surrender! I have a chronic knee injury myself. The physical therapist says I should work on strengthening my glutes and hamstrings, so that's what I've been focusing on for over a year now. I'm definitely improved, but not 100%. Hope you give the recipe a try!
TOM started today. I'm all emotional and hungry all the time. :-( I did lose 0.6lbs, so at least that's something.0 -
All the men in my life dad, husband brother in law all they have to do is up their exercise and delete something from their diet and they lose 8-10 lbs in a week. It's not just your husband @blitzbis We no longer include them in our contests as my dad can drop weight and win and does it just to be a boob.
Ok I just have to get through today which is a 10 hour day and a closing shift then next week I'm on vacation. Everyone is complaining as they all have to work 6 and 7 days. Here's the deal I work 6 and 7 days a week all the time so I don't feel bad. it's like welcome to my world.0 -
Yes, Sue is always working! Currently, I am not working at all. I am a retired teacher and sub or tutor during the regular school year. On Wednesday I got a call from an old friend who wanted me to consider going back to work. I would love the money but still remember all the stress that comes from working. Yesterday I decided that I would go back ONLY if a particular position I wanted was available. It was not one of the 10 open positions. Whew!0
-
@NewOR2015 LOL lucky you!!! Well one of my besties is leaving her position and on monday I am going to go and scope out the position. Hey I'm on vacation no one will ever know the position may already be filled but hey it doesn't hurt to inquire.0

today was a rough day at work i was so tired and things kept going wrong and I had to keep fixing things. I was on hold for over 20 minutes with the help desk and the system went down and all I kept thinking was OMG I just have to get through this day as soon as it's done I'm on vacation.
So to get through the day I had a diet soda so now the caffein has me buzzing so I am doing laundry. may as well do something productive and get something off the list. til later my friends0 -
The heat is making me crazy! I just spent 48 minutes walking in a thunderstorm with light rain and occasional lightning because it was so much cooler than it was this afternoon (heat index of 106). I was about to settle in for the night when I decided to check the temperature to see if it had dropped due to the storm. It was only lightly raining and felt so good outside! I hadn't exercised all day and thought what a great time to do it. It was actually a pretty good walk. The rain didn't get much worse and almost quit at one point. It got dark while I was walking and it was pretty peaceful except for when I came up on a dog in the dark, it growled, and I was lucky to not wet my pants. I'm glad I walked. That's 397 calories gone!0
-
Sorry you had a bad day @2020pinktogo ! Let your vacation begin!0
-
Thanks @1skholloway I have to admit I wasn't the only one having a bad day so was the helpdesk. when I finally got her I got someone I knew and she was like Oh thank goodness it's you I'm like my system is down and she was like yep everyone is but if I get you reconfigured she goes can you do all the steps yourself. I'm like yep just get it going she's like I have 5 people on hold and all of us were hoping to have people who knew the system and they're all a bunch of kids who know nothing. I'm like I'm good just start the sequence but here I am at 1 am still awake as I had way too much caffeine today.
We still have had no rain. we are in a water ban and have to boil our water. It's weird you know all the places that should be calling or ordering water. Certain facilities aren't I know they're not boiling everything I now know even in good circumstances I would think twice about going there. I know it's an added cost but why would you risk your patrons health and safety? well I will try laying down and think about sleep. LOL0 -
I've had an amazing week filled with activity and friends. Last night was Night at the Museum and I went as Peter Pan and introduced people to a whole bunch of snakes! We sold 2000 tickets so it was a super busy evening. Today is my last day off and tomorrow it is back to routine with lots of exercise and eating healthy. Monday is 5:15 am class at gym which I'm looking forward to but I really don't enjoy the cold spell which has hit us again. I'm spending Sunday morning cuddled up on the couch because I can!0
-
Hello! Didn't do much exercise today, although my app said I did 60 min of activity today, so I must have done something today. XD Went out to dinner with our out of town guests and I ordered the cioppino ( seafood stew), no bread. It was good, not great. After dinner I was so gassy. :-( Probably cooked it with butter. I try to avoid it, but sometimes I can't help it. Other than that, I got one project done and am starting on another. I'm almost caught up in my Spanish lessons on Duolingo, so I am feeling very productive right now.
@NewOR2015 -- I am a retired teacher, too. I taught 8th grade science for 7 years. I substitute teach at one school. It is associated with the cancer care alliance. The students are the siblings or children of cancer patients, and their families moved from across the state and the country in order for the patient to be treated here in Seattle. The class sizes are small and the primary directive is to be compassionate, so I really like it. Very different from public school!
@2020pinktogo -- Happy vacation!!! Other than checking out the other job, any fun plans??
@CaptainBoing -- Sounds like you had a terrific week! I would love to see you in costume handling snakes. XD Enjoy your relaxing Sunday.
Tomorrow our friends will be spending the morning visiting some other friends, so I'm hoping to get a good walk in while they are out.0 -
I have just finished scrubbing the kitchen and I am going to pull apart the garage and reorganize my husband who is a hoarder stuff. Last year he said I couldn't touch his stuff but then he brought home a work bench and stuck it down the center and my side of the garage. Now more stuff is creeping over to my side of the garage so it's just a path. suddenly he say's Ok go to it I need room LOTS AND LOTS OF ROOM. We definitely have designated sides. He also brought home a wood chipper from his Father's and that's on my side. I am really not pleased. Right now I'm just waiting for him to come home from work run through and leave for church so I can then go out there and start the decluttering. I literally pull everything out of the garage. It's a huge undertaking. One less thing for my daughter to do if I drop dead. LOL
I wanted to chop down the huge pine trees we have next to our garage but I need my neighbors help and he went away on vacation. Their huge if they fall one direction they'll hit his pool they go another direction they'll hit my garage they need to go or at least be nipped in half. We have some at the back of our lot that keep coming down but they're not near anything so I don't care when they come toppling down. I noticed a few branches one has come over the house I want that one gone and one that is dead and leaning towards the driveway. It's huge but really dead I think I can maybe just apply body weight and that one will come down. Usually when I'm done with vacation I'm exhausted and have a lot of bruises LOL if I don't go away.
We are just waiting to hear if my sisters sister in law has had her baby yet this morning. She went into labor last night. Well til later my friends I will try to stay out of trouble.0 -
@2020pinktogo -- Wow! With all those chores, you're sure to stay out of trouble!! XD You will feel ssssoooo good once everything is done and your garage is organized.0
-
@JanolaBarbara @2020pinktogo Both of you are so productive with your time. I am pretty good at doing nothing. I think that and my poor eating habits are what keeps me struggling with my weight. I've done okay for 4 days now though, walking each day and limiting how much I eat. I've got 3 lunch dates next week though. I will have to plan carefully so I don't get derailed.0
-
OMG i have 4 bags of garbage to go to my moms house so I can get more done by my garbage day. It's not pretty I pulled apart the one side pulled it all out and put it back put all the stuff that has to be thrown out at the front. I have a stove box a shower unit box OMG so many boxes but I can't go any further til pick up day when the boxes get picked up. what was he thinking why would you keep all these boxes? right now he is so crabby and if anyone should be crabby it should be me I keep having to clean up after the man who won't throw anything away.

@2020pinktogo Wow! You are a cleaning machine! You must be a workaholic. You are welcome at my house anytime! I can relate to your husband somewhat. He may feel like you have invaded his space when his stuff actually invaded yours.
Do you not have a landfill where you can take stuff in between garbage pick ups? That's what I've been doing lately. Mom brings Dad's truck and I fill the back of it with stuff to haul off. Then I make a run to a thrift store with things to donate.0 -
No but I have a very nice neighbor who works for the town and he takes it for me to get rid of it in the back of his truck when I get a huge amount. When I get too much for him then one of the other guys come and pick some up too. They like my Husband but they like me more. I have crawled on their roofs squeezed into little spots this past year the one guys wife even says go get Sue I'm not doing that. She usually holds the ladder for me with her eyes shut. LOL We were neighbors when we were both were pregnant now our kids are all grown up and she is like I'm still the same. It's weird cause I don't feel anything like the person I was when I was in my 20's. Yes I have been called compulsive. LOL0
