I'm guessing it is an error, but they are not on our team and I am not sure who to query it with.

Ah, the TARDIS effect...didn't think of that! *face palm*3 -
2-13 hour work days done. 8 hours of Parent/teacher conferences and I met with 6/100 students' parents. No exercise the past 2 days, but I did get 3/3 water days in! Life sorta resumes tomorrow; hope I can squeeze in a run between school and an evening meeting. Cross your fingers for no rain!5

Good Morning Team Five - or should I say Fab Five?!
Glad to be with you - I see that we have an awesome team
I'm back from my Bali vacation and looking forward to race with you all together!
Though I was checking into mfp for the newsfeed and the friends request I didn't go to the forums from my phone (honestly it's a pain in the a** to access the forums via app - I always tap the wrong backwards button so that I always end up back in the main app not just in the last page in the community and then I have to start again accessing.. tapping the wrong button etc ...)
So here's my introduction - caution - long post!
Hi - I'm Kat!
This is my second Amazing Race challenge and I'm planning to improve a lot from last time!
I'm here because I need the accountability to do more sport especially regularly. I usually do Kickboxing fitness (1-2x a week) and Circle Training (1x week). Saturdays I volunteer at a dog shelter and walk dogs so I get some walking for me.
I also started with a C25k program but after week 3 or 4 I believe I got shin splints in my left shin which lasted for a week and I was walking like a penguin then. Now I'm kind of afraid to start again since it really hurt last time. At the beginning of the program I got new running shoes since I had smaller or shin splints from the start. After new shoes it got better but then this one time happened.
Aside from that I go swimming from time to time and also want to do the 30Day shred challenge which is a 30minute workout by Jillian Michaels.
Personally I prefer to cheer my friends on via the newsfeed cause I don't really like accessing the forum from my phone.. (see above mentioned reason)
I will try to log minutes to the spread sheet daily but cannot promise so don't worry if I put them in at the end of the week.
So ... I was born in Germany and grew up in beautiful Würzburg which is located in northern Bavaria. And before you start thinking about Beer now - stop it you're wrong - my region is a wine region and known for the special types of bottles called "Bocksbeutel" they use for the wine.
(The movie "The Three Musketeers" from 2011 with Orlando Bloom, Milla Jovovich & Christoph Waltz was partly filmed in Würzburg )
"Festung Marienberg (The Castle)
View towards the city from the Alte Mainbrücke (The bridge with the Saints
The Würzburger Residenz - it's a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. It was completely destroyed in WWII (80-90% of Würzburg was...) but got reconstructed beautifully!
A "Bocksbeutel"
Buuuut right now I live in the beautiful city-state of Singapore aka the little red dot
Singapore means the Lion City. It's also known as the garden city due to its many gardens and parks. About 10% of the Singapore Land are reserved for greens (Parks, Forest, Gardens, Nature Reserves etc.)
But Singapore is not just a city. It's literally a big city jungle. In the nature reserves they have an amazing wildlife. From monkeys (and I don't mean monkeys in suits) and colorful birds to snakes, lizards, otters and I think even crocodiles (or alligators?) so pretty cool I think.
Singapore is only about 140km away from the equator so it's hot and humid all year round - a tropical rainforest climate. There is only one season. This is very different from what I'm used to - 4 seasons and definitely never that humid. You always sweat. ALWAYS. And if anybody ever tells you it will get better they just mean you get used to sweating and looking messed up.
Singapore is actually a Foodie Heaven. Really. Good Food. Cheap Food. Expensive Food. Extraordinary Food. Simple Food. 24/7. Everywhere. Loosing weight in a city like this is rather hard. But it is awesome - the food I mean.
Fun fact?! It is actually forbidden to walk around naked in your own apartment/house. If you do and someone sees you and reports you?! You'll get fined. Not the peeping Tom. That's why Singapore is also know as a fine city. Double meaning intended.
Another amazing thing is the many different cultures, religions and people that live here. Right now it's Diwali festival time - which is if I'm not wrong a very important festival for Hindus.
Left to right: A Buddhist temple, Cloud dome in Gardens by the Bay with view to Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Chang-Er the Chinese Moon Goddess and her Rabbit (it was Mid-Autumn Festival) and Mangroves at Gardens by the bay at night)
Alright regarding the Challenges:
#1: I believe I have everyone that posted here and was posted in this group on my Friend list now. If there are more, please tell me and as you can read - I also did the self introduction and where I'm from
@MissionEnforcer
#2: The water challenge - I think I need to pass that one - I did drink a lot in Bali but not just water maybe 1.5 to 2liters but also Tea, Iced Tea with sugar and some alcohol as well . So since there are only 4days left to do this challenge properly I think I have to pass this one if it's a water only challenge in regards to fairness.... Sorry
#3: will start with them today... let's hope my guest will still be sightseeing when I get home to do the videos
Have a lovely day or night ahead.

No worries Rus - it happens. Usually I don't have a problem with drinking so much water but well on vacation so many other drinks mix in...RaeBeeBaby wrote: »I am absolutely enthralled with the international flavor of our team. Hi June! I noticed your points for challenge 1 weren't verified, so I think they're looking for more than just the region. If you have time, we'd love to hear about England!2 -

Hi Jackie, just wanted to make sure you saw the last part of the first challenge. I'm on mobile so could have easily missed your post, but since your points weren't verified, I wanted to double check with you!
3. State what town/province/state/country you are from and give a brief description of where you live (pictures are fun, but not necessary).2 -
To ALL TEAMS: I have started to verify Challenge #1. What I am finding is that many people are leaving out the "brief description of where you live". Also, there are some people who are doing a great job, but aren't marking it on the spreadsheet. A few are claiming points, without making any post. I will try and finish tomorrow, as it seems most players have shown up.2

Someone on Fab Fives, please answer this question: What do I need to say to get my 10 pts for Challenge #1? (It was complete earlier this week)0

Just found your post: You just stated that you live in Maine and then told us about you. But you should also tell us a bit about Maine itself - Maybe what Maine's known for, specialties, fun facts, Nature etc. Just pick 2-3 facts I guess... and then tag MissionEnforcerer2 -
@ MissionEnforcer .. as Casty has pointed out to me thank you . I'm still in the red for challenge one .so here goes. I have all team 5 as friends. sorry I do not have any photo's to share about my country . I have live in England Staffordshire all my life . we have four seasons spring . summer. autumn. winter. we are in autumn now all the trees are dropping there leaves some really lovely colours. Staffordshire is quite a industrial work place with lots of units. but I'm very luck having Cannock chase on my door step with a large lake where I walk my dogs every day and we sit and feed the ducks . its getting colder every day here .
I have also now completed challenge 2. all three parts in my own way phew quite enjoyed it.
I have no problems at all drinking the water .2 -

Challenge 1: Complete
1. All members of team 5 have been added as friends.
My last post about St. Petersburg was kind of pitiful. So let's try this again.
I'm originally from Ottawa, Canada. It's the capital of Canada. I like my hometown because it has 4 distinct seasons (winter, almost winter, mud, and construction). In all seriousness, it's a nice city with lots of things to do.
Now I live in St. Petersburg, Russia. The city has changed names a few times, from St. Petersburg, to Petrograd, to Leningrad, and now back to St. Petersburg. There are still signs that say Leningrad, and the region surrounding the city is still known as the Leningrad region.
You can still find a lot of statues of the city's former name, Lenin.
St. Petersburg was founded by Peter the Great in 1703. It was the capital of Russia until 1918 (and a brief period from 1728 to 1732). The city is often called the Venice of the North, whereas most Russians refer to it as the Cultural Capital of Russia, or the Northern Capital.
The first building was the Peter and Paul Fortress. The spire is the highest point in the city centre. By law, no buildings in the centre can be taller than the spire on top of the church.
St. Petersburg is known for its canals. Canal and river cruises are incredibly popular in the summer months.
Water plays a big role in the city. The Neva runs through St. Petersburg, as well as many canals and smaller rivers. At night, the bridge over the Neva are raised so that ships can go through. This gives us great pictures, but also causes some logistical nightmares for those stuck on the wrong side of the river. There is one bridge in the southern part of the city that does not go up, since it it big enough for ships to pass under. That generally requires an extra long detour to cross over.
A big draw for tourists is seeing the bridges go up during the White Nights. Due to its northern location, St. Petersburg has very long summer days. At its peak in June, there is only a brief twilight period.
This picture would have been taken sometime around 2am, since the bridges go up at around 1:30am. The exact time depends on the bridge. They are raised starting from the westernmost bridge, going inland.
The city is also known for its cathedrals and churches. St. Isaac's dominates the skyline with its golden dome.
In front of St. Isaac's, there's another city icon, the Bronze Horseman.
The Church on Spilled Blood is my personal favourite.
The Kazan Cathedral is also quite nice. It's located on Nevsky Prospekt, which is probably the most famous street in St. Petersburg.
It's interesting to note that these churches were turned into museums or other buildings during the Soviet era. St. Isaac's was actually the museum of Atheism.
One cannot mention St. Petersburg without talking about the Hermitage. It's one of the largest and oldest museums in the world. The building itself is worth visiting, never mind the exhibits.
Winter will soon be here. It's not as cold as it is in Ottawa, but there's still a certain something about winter that is kind of magical.

Fab Fives, I love the way we allow other teams to think they're in the lead and then . . . BAM! Not so fast there buddies . . .
Thank you @KatKat1209, I appreciate your sentiments.

Challenge #1: “Let’s Say Halló in Iceland!”
@MissionEnforcer -- I've sent friend requests to all and I have heard back from all.
The following is a partial repost with added facts about Maine (trying to qualify for those pts):
I live in Maine --- specifically downeast Maine (which refers to a particular area on the coast --- basically the final 1/3 of the coastline until you hit Canada). Our coastline is stunning --- no other way to describe it! The ocean water here is verrrry cold, though. You can't stay in it very long. Hypothermia in the summer isn't unheard of... yikes!
We have 4 distinct seasons... at least, we're supposed to! Spring, Fall, Winter...and mud season. We just don't have spring like most every other place. If you like the outdoors, Maine is good place to be. HOWEVER, the state bird here is either the black fly or the mosquito! (It's really the chickadee) They can be ferocious and tend to suck the joy (and blood) out of being outside sometimes... lol
• Maine has 3,478 miles of coastline (very rocky)
• Maine has 3,166 off-shore islands. Only about 1,200 Maine coast islands have an acre or more, 600 comprise 95% of the island acreage.
• Maine has over 32,000 miles of Rivers and Streams.
• Maine has over 6,000 Lakes and Ponds.
• Maine State Berry: The Wild Maine Blueberry - (More blueberries grow in Maine than any other state, over 90% of the country's blueberry crop)
• Average Summer Temperature in Maine: 70 degrees • Average Winter Temperature in Maine: 20 degrees

@rusgolden I have to thank you again, this challenge has my competitive juices flowing. Got in my 100 minute walk this morning & hope to get another in this evening! My goal is to stay in the top 10% of the power list thingy! I'm going to do extra exercise as long as I feel okay; I've been sidelined with injuries & pain before. Even now, I'm dealing with these bulging disks, but it is actually okay for this challenge since it's minutes vs. distance or speed and the doctors want me to walk! Slow & steady may really win this race!4

I think just because you haven't entered your points for him to verify. Everyone enters their own points on the challenges once they're complete. For challenge 1, the numbers will be red until verified, then they'll turn black and be added to our total.3 -
Woot! Fab Fives! We're over 90% of the way to the goal city!
I can't wait to visit the blue lagoon...

Just checked my friends list, and all teammates officially accounted for unless I'm bad at clicking links.
I've had a kind of stressful week and haven't done the videos yet, but going to try to get that done tonight and tomorrow.
Water I'm struggling with, but it's been warmer the last few days which has helped. Hopefully I'll still hit it.2 -

I was just looking at the power rankings thinking, ooh, if I just do another half hour maybe I can jump into the top 10.
100 minute walk is amazing! I've been doing 60 minute walks and my calves are burning. I'm so out of shape.4 -

Fab Fives, there's a mad dash going on right now to make it to our first destination! I'm sooo tired! I got in a mid-day walk, here was my view from a local park . . .
Let's dig deep so we can be the first to arrive in beautiful Reykjavik . . . and then soak our poor, sore muscles! Did someone remember Epsom Salt?
