You are right, Suzy! I recently hit my highest weight point of the year, so expecting to end up at my lowest point within a month is impossible! But that's no reason not to try to make a good start for next year, so yes, will be joining in you in the final push - lol!

Hi guys - sorry for the quick post; just finished day 7 of 7 dayshifts.. hallelujah !! Need a quick nap before doing a show tonight at the LAC, but i'm totally in for a final push.. didn't get a chance to weigh myself this morning but will tomorrow and go from whatever it says.. no matter how scary LOL.. hell i'll be happy if I can lose a pound or 2 by years end ... but I def wanna work at it for the next 4 weeks for sure!

Vail - I meant to tell u re the pasta cooking in a dish.. I totally agree I am like you I always cook my pasta separate and frankly the thought of making it in a dish raw was NOT appealing.. and sure enuf I also put too much in.... so I had to add more broth which watered down the flavour... it looked like a gluey mess at the beginning LOL.. but turned out pretty good however truth be told I would far rather make that dish as the sauce part separate and put it over the pasta cooked separate next time... there's just something .. icky.. about putting raw pasta in a dish... I dunno LOL

BUT I DID like the taste of it so we'll see!!

ok off to "rest my eyes" for a few.. will check in tomorrow and post a bit more... have a few days off yayyyyy

I spent all morning waiting for a service guy to come and do my annual furnace check up and then all afternoon running errands. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here....long lines, traffic and foul moods!! Ugh!!! I was so fed up and exhausted that I bought a lean cuisine pizza for dinner. At least it’s not the home delivery pizza that I really wanted! I still have to make my husband a couple burritos but that doesn’t tempt me at all. So I’ll be under my calorie goal today even if I am way over on carbs. I desperately need to get back to exercising though!!! I pulled out those goals that I worked so hard on and want to really work on achieving them. I don’t expect perfection from myself but come on!!! Hahaha! I’ll get there; I’m just taking the scenic route. ;)

Today was not my best day either. I am totally over on carbs. I am hoping for a better day tomorrow. It seems funny but I usually do better on most weekends....not around so much food.
I am resetting my ticker to zero lost at start of new year.....I think it makes me try harder to see 0 lbs lost..

Yea, I find it hard to have my pasta mixed in to cook....I like the freshness of clean spaghetti with a bit of sauce to move around over it.

    Hello Ladies,

As Suzy states, as I reflect on this year I have done well. I lost fairly well, and although I gained most of it back I had a wonderful time for Thanksgiving! Therefore, I reset my weight and will push to Christmas.

I am planning on spending Christmas in Montreal!!

Wow, I think I will try that with the pasta raw just to see and Snoozie you said it tasted good. Nice.

Milove - I put way too much pasta in because the recipe called for 4 ounces of linguini.. and here our pasta comes in GRAMS... and no matter how many times I asked SIRI to convert 4 ounces to how many grams, he failed me LOL.. so I eyeballed it and had to pull half it out haha. but i'll know next time and I do have to say the flavours of the sundried tomatos, mushrooms and garlic etc.. hmmmm I still have all the stuff so perhaps will give it another go tonite!

ok I weighed in. had to reset my sticker up a wee bit but thankfully not too much.. I totally agree with everyone elses sentiments regarding our weight in perspective to life in general, but I'm also in for the push for this month.. I think for me it's going to be best to focus on MINDFUL eating for me to see a bit of a loss.. its the "grazing" doing me in.. last night at the show there was some leftover pizza in the volunteer room. and yep... I took 2 small pieces (I am talking less than 2" per square so it wasn't the cals that were a problem) but it was cold.. and seriously NOT very good... and as I was eating It I thought what the hell... I wasn't even that hungry - and it really was NOT good.. but I still ate it and I remember thinking yuck as I shoved it in... and I ate it just because it was there. So for this month I will focus on THAT sort of thing, and just increasing the water, veggies and fruit again - that should get me to a few pounds down before the end of the year which I know needs to happen for me to be in a good head space to start the new year. In a way it's kind of a relief too to be focusing on that.. I still plan to indulge in any home made holiday baking that MAY come my way LOL.. my holiday rules will still applyl tho to skip anything store bought but if someone bakes something, I will have a cookie or whatever... BUT .. have the one not 20!

So good on us ladies... this month goal is really just about getting healthier after all... and if we focus on that I think we'll all be able to enjoy ourselves and still see a bit of a loss! :)

I'm off to try to find a few more things to put in my sister's stocking i'm mailing her - hard to find things that aren't just novelty type tings but are still easy to mail lol... i'l park far away from all the stores for those extra steps!

Yesterday, was my granddaughter's birthday and I did eat well and again when I reached home. I recognize a lot of it was anxiety eating. However, today, I am going to the gym and walk on the treadmill, my knee feels pretty good Thank goodness for groupons, I also have a Swedish massage and a facial scheduled. Hope it will help with the anxiety and guilt of eating. Thank goodness for another day to try again.

Snoozie lol on converting grams to ounces. I try my best to stay away from grams. I manage at home well to stay away from the metric system, but not so well at work with nursing they make us deal with it.

Ahhhhh....massahhhhhhhge! Maybe that’s what I should ask for as a Christmas present! Don’t feel guilty about celebrating your granddaughter’s birthday. We’re always going to be faced with celebratory meals and we should live life from the front row...not the sidelines! Good for you for going to the gym today!

This coming week I’ve set a goal to go to the gym (at least) twice and to walk three days. I’m hoping to exceed my goals! They’re offering a new class called Aquatic HIIT. Sounds interesting, so I’m going to try it.

Aquatic Any thing sounds good to me. I have no water near me except my bathtub......and try exercising in there!

yes, a massage is just what you need, milove. Heck ,we all need and deserve one....
    Hear that SANTA?

we all took a nap today and then went out to a large empty parking lot so G-baby could ride her bike safely t31134.gifand to let Daughter n law get some running in before off to Basic.....only 4 weekends left.. I walked about 20 minutes,t31180.gif I think and then ran up some steep inclines and didn't die.....hahaha..so maybe I can get back in the groove of exercising..

    Yay Snoozie!!!

I hate to admit that I couldn’t get my lazy *kitten* (as Snoozie would say) out of bed early enough to go to that water HIIT class this morning. :( I am going to go for a walk though. The class is offered on Tuesday and Thursday, so I’m definitely going on Thursday. I’m down a couple pounds but not back to where I was before October and all our travels.

26 days left in the year!!!

Suzy - why would you "hate" to admit you couldn't get out of bed EARLY enough for a class. There's nothing wrong with admitting that today just wasn't the day for that for you.... I had two naps today LOL.. yup ... it's cold and dreary and windy here; I was up at 4am cause I just couldn't sleep but went back at 8 and slept for an hour (nap #1); went out and did a few chores nothing strenuous LOL.. came home, had lunch.. and went for another nap.. both only lasted about 1/2 hr but i'm obviously having a day where my body mind and spirit are all in agreement that I am not gonna set the world on fire today!

I'm still accomplishing little stuff around the house, but I now realize its just one of those days where my batteries are low and need recharging and im okay with that.. i'll absolutely kick it into high gear once I know i'm recharged but for now i'll go with what my body is telling me and just... have a chill day. So the fact that today was simply NOT the "get up and go" morning for you is no biggie either.. and if you do get a lovely walk in, you score huge in the "move the parts" box for today! So yay you!! And I love that you are pumped and primed to hit it on Thursday (ha get it pardon the pun) and cant wait to hear how you liked the class! And YAY on down on the scale - awesome news!!

I think this might be a good time to remind everyone too.. the next 20 days or so are also going to get more and more hectic for some; and emotionally difficult for others; the holidays are a wonderful time but all of us can feel overwhelmed by different things the closer it gets.. and stress is gonna be the middle name for many people in the coming weeks !! and besides the stress, there can be a lot of emotional highs and lows for some too - as the holidays aren't always a happy time for everyone. We all know that stress has a terrible impact on us physically... no matter what it's root cause it is devastating on our physical well being, so if you find yourself starting to feel run down or frazzled, or totally freaking out...lol or perhaps having a day where you just feel a little sad.. make sure you take some time just for YOU then..... whether its for a 15 min stroll alone, or locked in to the bathtub with a glass of wine and a book, or pouring a cup of tea and calling an old friend just to say hi.. whatever it is that will let you just.. breathe for a few minutes and recharge. The world will continue along just fine for that hour or 20 minutes or whatever time you need to to take to look after yourself, to be sure that YOU stay healthy and strong.

Yeah....I kinda fell off the proverbial wagon for the past couple of days. :( I’ve got to get back up and dust myself off and make some progress!!! It’s the downhill slide of the year and I really want to end the year down at least a few pounds! I do love how every new day is a chance to be successful in meeting my goals though. Never give up!!!

Good morning both pic and saying are hilarious but so true.

I am glad that I reset my ticker so that I can see myself making baby steps in trying to get back to where I was before Thanksgiving. The few pounds loss is encouraging even if it's 0 .5 here and there. I noticed that if I off from work and at home I don't eat lunch I might throw a few nuts in or a few chips from my grandchildren lunch.

milove..... 1/2 a lb here and 1/2 a pound there quickly add up - small steps lead to big results right? Well done!!!! great job working towards your goal - keep up the good work!

I did a quick little show this morning at the LAC - the Russian ballet is performing the Nutcracker but it was a morning how for a bunch of local schools so it was a scaled down version of the full show, only an hour but it was really good - an the perfect length considering it was 1200 kids in age from kindergarden to grade 12 LOL.. but I quite enjoyed it - and I had the teenybopper section but they were all good kids so it was a fun time.. now off to work in a few will pop in later but have been tyring to stay on track and hoping by next weigh in will start to show on the scale..

Milove, I probably should reset my ticker. I’m just being stubborn. It really doesn’t matter how much of a loss you see each time as long as you’re seeing a loss! Good for you!!!

The Russian Ballet?!! Awesome! What an interesting volunteer job you have! I really need to find something like that to do.

I love your volunteer job Snoozie it is so awesome.

Thank you, ladies, Yes, I agree with the small steps it is really encouraging.

I am making plans to go to Montreal for Christmas and New Years for the family, I was able to find a place to stay (that was difficult when trying to pinch a penny).

When I downsize to where I am, it is no way to stay here for the holidays, there is no room for even a Tree. I am seriously looking to move.

Milove - I grew up in Montreal! lived there until I was 17 - it's a beautiful city and I hope you have a fantastic time with the family over the holidays! As for the tree.. mine is a tiny tabletop size LOL. I've been "downsizing" my tree over the years from a full size to a 3' and now to my little one covered in cranberries and snow.. actually we ha our first big snowfall last night and when I got up this morning it was stil dark so I turned on the little micro lights on the tree, switched on the flameless candles all around and am enjoying the festive look with my coffee lol..

Since we’re going to Kansas City to see my husband’s family for Christmas, I’m not even decorating. Not one thing. It doesn’t seem much like Christmas to me though. Our tree is huge and it’s such a pain to drag it up from the basement. I ought to go get a small tabletop tree at least. Maybe I’ll do that today.

I’m struggling with staying on track with my eating. I keep rationalizing that I’m just going to eat while we’re on our trip, that it’s too hard to eat healthy while away from home, that there will be drinking and homemade goodies. Then I come to my senses for a bit and get disgusted with myself. It’s a vicious circle! And it’s just too cold outside to want to leave my warm cozy house! I’ve got to put on my big girl panties and deal with it!!! :D

Have a wonderful time in Montreal, Milove! I’ve never been but I bet it’s beautiful! I loved Toronto, if it’s anything like that. My son is in Toronto right now, as a matter of fact.

So proud of my restraint this afternoon. I made a banana bread loaf and didn’t eat any of it. I froze it to take to KC. It smelled so darn good, too! Yay me!!

just a quick pop in before heading to work... Suzy total kudos on NOT sampling the loaf.. absolutely a win!!
I got my little tree at a place like homesense or pier 1 ... on sale at 50% I think LOL.. put some microlights from the dollar store around it and a big vase with piles of ornament balls in it and a flameless candle next to it and its just enuf to give me that little bit of xmas feeing... so hope you can find some little thing to get you in the spirit til you get to KC!

busy couple of days; last shift tonite; have my senior friend tomorrow for doc apt and chores .. and taking her little xmas stocking I did up over as well as i'm working midnites over xmas.. then Friday heading up north to see one of my best and oldest friends who is facing some very scary surgery next week for an anyeurism just discovered in her carotid artery.. would appreciate any spare prayers on her behalf !

As far as the health and weight aspect this month... i'm am absolutely still trying to stay on track, but like the rest of you struggling... I figure if I can just take it one day and one meal at a time again, its a little easier .. usin the "good, better, best" question in my head - but sometimes its grab and run these days!! But trying to stay focused on making sure I get fruit and veg in daily... im short on the veg this week tho altho I did have a bunch on my little 6 inch sub I had to grab yesterday - that counts right? ha

  • suzyqholland
    suzyqholland Posts: 1,377 Member
Any veggies count! Absolutely! Just curious Snoozie but what do you do for a living? I’m assuming nurse since you do shift work? I don’t think I could get used to that kind of schedule. I hope your friend comes through with flying colors. Of course she will be in my thoughts and prayers...you, too. Be careful heading north...it looks like extremely cold weather up there!

I’m staying in today and wrapping gifts, making out Christmas cards and watching some tv. If it warms up I might go for a quick walk....we’ll see.

Thanks for the good thoughts for my friend Suzy - much appreciated!

It is COLD here right now.. we've had our first couple of snow dumps but nothing major, but the cold snap is a definite reminder winter is here lol. Its so nice to hear you're sending Christmas cards Suzy.. I actually love getting them and although I really only send and get a few via snail mail anymore, I still like a real card rather than a digital one! And too funny.. I used to always gather up the gifts and wrapping and settle in front of the tv with a Christmas movie to wrap... and usually a glass of wine ha!

Did you decide to do any little decorations around the house before going to KC? This is my little tree "condo size"... and a small table by the window with a candle and even smaller tree lol.. i actually quite like when i wake up and its still dark out (well .. ya know what i mean).. i turn on the little microlights and the candles and just sit and enjoy the christmassy feeling.. theres the little prezzie from my sister - along with my first gift of home made shortbread cookies in a jar next to the tree... and NO I didn't eat all of them, i passed them around at work when they were given to me.. I swear that's why it's half empty!!!

Wish I was a nurse Suzy as they rate high on my scale of good people, but alas, I;m just a clerk who works for the City of Toronto (aka municipal government). I just happen to work in one of the departments that run 24/7.. your tax dollars at work! Well, not YOUR tax dollars hahahahaha!!

Got my senior friends stocking made up last night; I got her a blue one at the dollar store cause blue is her favourite colour... but must admit blue looks a little weird in a stocking!! ha.. I should get my butt in gear and head out but I wanna stay in my flannel jammies LOL . glad to be on a few days off I admit!
