Instead say to yourself I will eat more fruits and vegetables to yourself throughout the day. Our minds then focus's on fruits and vegetables and reminds us to make those better choices. I will give it a try today. Have a good day Jenilla and Lesley!
Yes, that actually works! I've been utilizing that strategy for years now. I think about, write about, and talk about the things I intend to do, rather than focusing on what I don't want to do. It also helps to be specific (go for a 3 mile hike after lunch; eat a serving of fruit for dessert tonight), rather than general (exercise; eat healthier) with your intentions. Might take some time to develop a habit, though. I recommend it.
For example, I used to say something like, "I need to stop being so lazy and get up and do something." Not only does that put the focus on my laziness, it's not specific on the action I need to take - I don't even have a plan for what to do about it. I might figure it out, but I'm also just as likely to go nowhere making that kind of statement.
So now I say something like, "I need to get some activity in today, so after breakfast, I'm gonna leash up the dog and take her for a hike on our favorite trail."
Might sound kinda cheesy, but it actually works for me. It's specific and focused on the action I want to take, rather than on something I want to avoid. There's nothing negative at all in that statement for my brain to latch onto.1 -
thank you Jenilla. I have been starting my morning with affirmations for the past several months but I as you described perfectly I need to put them in a specific and focused action I want to take today statement!

...I think I'll start Monday...lol...always the procrastinator!! Hahaha. Happy Friday everyone!2

Have a great weekend gals! My affirmation yesterday morning was , 'I will eat a vegie packed salad today for dinner to make me healthier and full of energy'. It worked, I stopped after work for the greens and added broccoli, cauliflower, tomato. Onion, carrots. I WILL eat a vegie packed salad again today.2

Me too.
I need something to get me back on track. I tried the Hogwarts one last time and that helps a little. That is restarting next week, so hopefully that is enough. It will at least get me back to some exercise vs none.1 -
10 reps of 10 different exercise done upon arising. I'm focusing on abdominal type exercises as I'm on my legs most of my day at work. A little exercise is better then none1

True, true, true. I have really been struggling lately. I have the Hogwarts challenge starting Monday so I'm hoping that gets me back in gear. Taking Friday off to go for a long weekend. After this week though, I have been saying that I'm going to start going back to the gym at lunch and also start leaving on time.
Happy Flag Day!!2 -
Hi Team 2. Good to see you checking in. I noticed the Summer Race is cancelled. Here's to the Fall?!?

Started the Hogwarts challenge on Monday. I'm hoping that'll get me back on track. So far at least have done 3 of 4 days under calories!! Also trying to get back to the gym at work this week. So far, I've gone both days I could (really didn't want to today though lol). Hope everyone is having a good week.
Oh, BTW, one of my lil stinkers has decided to kill a baby skunk 2 days in a row!! Couldn't believe it when he escaped this evening and when my husband finally found him he had the 2nd. So crazy!!3 -
Is another amazing race expected?

I'm needing motivation and accountability with getting exercising done, especially with this colder Wisconsin weather and the later sunrises!1

Here is a monthly planking challenge I've done in the past. I'm going to try to do this one again this month as I have not had any consistent exercise lately. For team based challenges, I have been doing a Harry Potter related one. They'll be posting the application to the main threads soon for a short holiday themed one. Let me know if you'd like me to attempt to share the link to that one as well. Hope everyone has been doing well.

Not 100% sure how to get the link to it. If you go to challenges and search Hogwarts in the title search, it should be the 1st one that comes up now. It is called "Holidays at Hogwarts [Term 17] - 5 Week Challenge."
Let me know if you can't find it and I'll try to find the link.1 -
