Challenge Three:
What I tried, Tomato Aspic.
Why?--- just a flashback to being a kid spending two weeks outside Boston at my Grand parents and being dragged to the bridge party luncheons and having to eat it.
The experience, still gross! I thought it would be better because I used an updated recipe. The texture is the same. Didn't even offer it to Maggie. Just pitched it.4 -
Today I finished the reflexology videos and my husband figured the food challenge for me. He ordered a small pepperoni, sausage and ANCHOVY pizza knowing they make me gag, he picked it up while I was doing the last of my reflexology and I chocked down 2 small pieces because he said it wasn't enough, then the rest went in the garbage.2

Challenge 3:
What I tried - Indian Bittermelon
Why - When I was back in India my dad use to make us eat it when we were kids. Not my favorite vegetable at all. If you eat it raw it's bitter then anything else I have ever tasted but after you cooked the bitterness is still there but not as much as eating raw. Yicks... It has lot of good nutrients if you make juice out of it.3 -
@mamaelf2008 I like the speakeasy and the entertainment
@GSXRGIRL61: I burst out laughing reading about your poop, I know I shouldn't have but I couldn't help myself. Ended up telling my husband about it when he asked me what I was laughing about
@120maggie @hawkins410 I think we all are a little easy with booze involved

Ah, Jodi - sorry the aspic was as horrible as it sounded.
@mts7471 I looked up Indian bitter melon and it's very interesting looking! Sorry it doesn't taste great though. The name having bitter right in it doesn't sound too tempting.
@aenglehardt347 sounds like a sad waste of pizza. I don't think I've ever really tried anchovies now that I think about it.
I still need to try my food for the challenge. I'll try to stop by the store tomorrow and pick something up. I finished the reflexology videos just now though. I liked video 2 the best of all of them I think because the ankle warm up felt good. My ankle tendons have a tendency (ha!) to get sore with running, so I should do that more often. My feet feel pretty good but the magic of reflexology on the other parts of the body seems to have eluded me.
More of the same weather wise here today - snow and cold on an endless loop. Another couple of freezing cold dog walks and a treadmill run completed. Stella tried out boots for the first time today. She did really well and returned home with 75% of them still on her feet. One came off at not far from the end so I consider it pretty good. I guess it won't let me upload a video, but she was pretty adorable.4 -
I am so impressed with the foods you all are trying......and am quite grossed out by Aspic.
I am in love with our bartenders........and it's a three day weekend for me!!!! I am SO going to have a great time.
I feel like my food to try is quite pathetic, so if this isn't approved and too "wimpy", let me know.
I love greek yogurt, but I don't like to mix it with stuff (except fruit) due to texture issues. Yogurt should NOT be gritty.....it makes me think it is bad and my gag reflex starts to go. But, in another challenge, I was partnered with someone who loves flaxseed in her yogurt. So, I tried it expecting to immediately grab water to wash it down. I actually liked it! The grit didn't bother me. So, I may have found a new way to get flaxseed in my diet (I add it to all my pancakes and waffles).
I have completed the kickboxing and foot messages, too. I think I may start making foot messages a nightly routine before bed. It has really relaxed me these past few nights.
@mamaelf2008 - I think you sent me your Fitbit info and I can't find it. If it wasn't you.....sorry.
Have a great night.

Did the kickboxing class today. It was tough. Something you have to do often to get into the rhythm.
Went for a 15 minute (hard) swim afterward.
Any advice:
My left ankle is really starting to get sore... particularly after a long treadmill. It gets bad enough that I limp for the balance of the day.
Do I just
1) get off the treadmill for a while
2) get some kind of massage or physiotherapy
3) start some kind of stretching exercise
4) something else...
Thanks,

My two cents......
I would highly recommend stretching exercises and then doing some balance exercises to strengthen the muscles around your ankle. The following link includes a bunch of rehab exercises I had to do for my knee, and they ended up strengthening my ankles more than anything. You may need to take a break from the treadmill for awhile until you get it stronger (don't injure yourself). So......just my thoughts.....I hope it helps some.

I woke up kinda dragging this morning and congested but did my morning walk and I am determined to have a great day!3 -
The dog and steer wheel is how I am feeling today, too. Thank goodness it is Friday.

Only one more reflexology video to go! I'm with @katharmonic -my feet (and hands today!) feel great but can't see it translating to the rest of my body!
I picked up some Brussels sprouts yesterday at Trader Joe's. I figure I can make them for college boys birthday dinner and I know he and his girlfriend like them so it won't be a waste if I start gagging immediately. Definitely plan to roast them with EVOO since that's my preferred method for most vegetables. (Yum, cauliflower!)
My minutes were super low yesterday. Busy doing errands and I think I wore my workout clothes until 4:30 when I finally gave up hope of getting to the gym.
@TamiJo1004 -that's a crazy day! I think my most ever was 25,000 when we walked a zillion miles in Paris last Race. You needed those foot massages!
Have a great day all!3 -
Add bacon to your Brussels sprouts, bacon makes everything delicious!2
-
Hmmm, I wonder if I roasted broccoli with bacon if I could choke that down...2

OPERATION "YUCKY FOOD" WAS A SUCCESS!
My vegetarian husband has tried for 20 years to get me to enjoy his "fake meat" hot dogs, hamburgers, sausages, etc. We made a Tofurky at Thanksgiving once, but the dog wouldn't even eat it!
Last night he made me tacos with his fake hamburger meat. I have even tried that before and didn't like it. But this time, he put good seasonings in it and I added onions, pickles, hot sauce, mustard, and cilantro. And I liked it!!
Tara even liked it!
The best part was that it was low on carbs and high on protein. I will be eating more tonight.4 -
All videos of reflexology videos completed.
All challenges have been completed4 -

I do agree with you. This week from Monday I have lessen the cardio machine activity. I have started doing more and more of upper body workout, lower body workout. The leg one yesterday it was at 37 mins. I like to build more strength in my arms and my legs.3 -
So a food I've been tempted to try but have always shied away from is sushi. Somehow the thought of raw fish is just gross to me. Today I bought dragon rolls made with shrimp, rice, avocado, and I guess seaweed. It was really good, especially when I didn't add the wasabi (boy, that'll open up one's sinuses!) to the last few pieces. I also didn't put soy sauce on it. The sodium count is already pretty darned high.
I will say that I really wanted to try the crusted crab roll with the yummy looking sauce on top, but I looked at the sodium count (1320 mg for 1 serving!). Needless to say, I didn't get that one.4 -

@junodog1 Yupper, this is the way to go!
The best way to eat them is pickled. lol1 -
I blame (thank?) @Vowder for this... I just ate broccoli and it wasn't bad... of course with all the other junk in there I wasn't really sure what was what but it made for a crunchy salad. Thanks V!3
-
Well crap, it doesn't want to load my photo of my bagged "super food" salad - kale, broccoli leaves, brussel sprouts, carrots and baby spinach.2

Just drown in cheese! I can even get my husband to eat it with cheese!1 -
I asked college boy what vegetable he wanted for his birthday dinner and he said "anything but broccoli!". The cycle of life continues. My mom ruined peas and asparagus for me, I ruined broccoli for my kids!4
