Today was the first long run of my training program. Only 5 miles but it's a start. It was tough in the heat and humidity. In fact the humidity is making the keyboard of my computer act up and it is hard to type this. Dean, hope you get some rest soon. You are a hero for working so hard. I'm at 50/75. Finally back in the green!

@Janet: Well done! I feel like I am running in a fish tank. The air is sp saturated. I am in training for a 10 miler. Glad it's not a marathon.

    @Chris: Happy Friday!

Home from the pro bike race. What a volunteer opportunity to work a UCI sanctioned event. In the Time Trial I was trusted to stop the timers at the finish. Then as a treat after the pro men were done, I got to take a short ride with these guys. Back to training tomorrow though.

07/15 - 21.0 miles cycling (decided to rip some miles today, slapped a brace on my forearm then went for it)
07/16 - 19.0 miles cycling (took it a bit easier today)
07/16 - 01.0 miles walking (a nice walk at the river with my friend)
    07/17 - 01.0 miles rest day walk
07/18 - 20.0 miles cycling (a good ride before travel day, tendon weak but better)
07/19 - 02.0 miles walking (travel day to Cascade Cycling Classic Pro bike race)
07/20 - 02.0 miles walking (working the race, did timing for the Time Trial)
07/20 - 05.0 miles cycling (rode with a pack of Time Trial pro riders on warmdown)
07/21 - 02.0 miles walking (small walk with the grandkids after long drive home)

    Total: 167.0 miles

Good day, bad day. Good in that I got a new pair of running shoes that are correctly fitted for me and wow, what a difference they make. Bad in that my dad is passing blood again. I think an ulcer but we are waiting on results.

July 21: Adding 15 miles of walking 6 miles running 4 miles and cycling 5 miles.
    TTD: 290 miles

@clepant - sorry to hear about your dad. glad to hear about your shoes.

3 mile training run today. with a rest day yesterday i've managed to fall out of the green. oh and i'm not trying to be casual by using all lower case letters ... the shift on my keyboard isn't working. the joys of living in a remote place with no ac in the summer. the electronics all tend to malfunction come august -- this year it started in july lol.

@Janet: Sorry to hear about your technology issues. You are on an island correct. Are you in the finger lakes?

My dad had a rough start to the day but feels a bit better tonight. They did a cbc stat on his blood aFriday afternoon. We were told to call if we did not hear anything. We called this morning and was told they would call back but they didn't. So much for his bloodwork being so important. Perhaps time to find a new Doctor's office. Same people who told my hubby his blood work did not come back for his surgery even though he had it two weeks before. The track record is getting bad.

July 22: Worked in our demo garden early this morning before we got rained on. Sorry VHuber, we got more rain today so we feel like we are in the tropics or a giant terrarium or greenhouse.
Adding 15 miles of quick 10 mile bike ride to reduce the stress and 5 walking miles.
    TTD: 305 miles

@clepant, as a nurse, I say that is unacceptable. I agree it is time to find another medical practice. And if you can, one that has online access to your chart/records where you can see the labs as they're posted is a good idea. It's usually a lot quicker too.

After working 3 12 hour shifts in a row for the first time in a long time (and only one of them was stupidly bad) I took myself to the gym and ran 4 miles on the treadmill, slower than I usually go with shorter distances but it felt good. I need to get my brain to slow down so I can do more than a mile or two at a time. Thank God for the running videos on the machines, they keep my brain busy.
