@Lovemyalex: Way to go girl!
@Janet: I too took advantage of the cool temps and ran today. Humidity will be back your way on Thursday.
July 24: Adding 15 miles of running 3.5 miles, walking 7 miles and cycling 4.5 miles.
TTD: 345 miles
It was 6 years ago that I came on My Fitness Pal but I have faithfully logged in since 2013. While my days don't register because I went back to zero several times due to no internet or a power outage ( I later learned that I could fix that), I have used this site to keep me from going back to where I came from which was over 80 lbs more than I am today. I took up running (which I disliked) 5 years ago and ran a Sprint Triathlon as my very first race. What can I say....I had no clue what it entailed. But I liked it and it pushed me out of my comfort zone. Since that time I have run 5k's, 10k's some 10 milers and a number of half marathons. (My knees won't make it through a marathon but I will not ever say never. It has been four years of tracking miles with this group and I so love my mileage family for helping me stay the course. Weight issues will always be a problem for me but the longer I pursue it, the easier it becomes. I don't ever want to take my health for granted. God has been so good to me. I saw what one clip in the knee did to my running goals but I am still running and for that I am grateful. When I can't run, I will cycle and walk full time. I thank all of my MYAC family for your encouragement and your inspiration to be healthy. It does keep me going when those dark moments creep in.

Yes, I do it a lot over the summer. During the winter the dogs didn't need to pant as much so you don't notice. During the summer they struggle to push enough air so they can pant. It's an easy diagnosis. Sedate them and look at the arrhetinoid cartilages.0 -

I can't believe I've been missing in action for so long.
Saturday morning of my trail event was warm and sunny - with a risk that it would be uncomfortable to run in. The race started at 12:00 hrs and at 12:30 it started to lightly rain. As the afternoon progressed the rain got heavier, although it was still warm at about 18C. I set off on my lap at about 19:00. It took about 1:23:48 - slow, but it was like an ice rink! I recommended spikes when I got back to camp - but even they would be useless.
My next (and last lap) was due about 06:45 hrs on Sunday, but the conditions had slowed everything sooo much that it was about 08:45 before I got out. By which time we had had about 10 hours of persistent rain - although it had stopped by then, just about. I chose to wear my hiking boots with a view to walking the route!! Did you know that you can run in hiking boots??I completed that lap in 1:53:09. A time I'm very proud of. I was a mere 30 mins behind my clubs' very best female runner - we were on the course at the same time.
The picture, above, gives a little indication of the condition of the course.
It was great fun. My club had 4 teams of eight running. We camped together and were quite the little village. Bellow is my team - the Thornton Triers
Edited for typo.2 -
@Lovemyalex - a round of *applause* for becoming the new distance record holder. That took energy and commitment.
@clepant - my thoughts are with you, it's a worrying time - dealing with a parents' health issues. I hope you find a resolution and life becomes easier for you and your father.
ETA - thank you for sharing your story. It rang a few bells for me - as I think it did for many of us.
@anaconda469 - your volunteering event sounds like fun - and what a privilege to have done it for several years in a row. It's brilliant that you're slowly getting well enough to get out on your bike. Take care.
@Just_Ceci - doughnuts (ice cream, cake, wine) the raison d'être for our running/cycling/lifting
@amazingmummy - YaYlooking forward to seeing you back on the boards.
@kar328 - DOMS - proof that it's all working ? ???? Hope it wasn't too bad.
@Leanz - hope your winter isn't too dire and you're managing to get out.
Congratulations to all those that have made goal.1 -
@k80flec thanks for thinking about our winter. It's been interesting last week we had floods -3 times our usual July rainfall in one day (sorry @vhuber )The week before that we were cutoff by snow although we didn't get any on the ground her> All the misery but none of the fun! And guess what another burst of bad weather for this weekend also - rain and snow forecast!!! I don't like running on a treadmill, have to go out to a gym to do it anyway so I get up and out about 5am, before I go to work. I don't think it is as cold then as at dawn which is currently about 8am!
Your event looks - unbelievable, 2 amazing runs for you and one in hiking boots - amazin

@lovemyalex Wow!
@clepant great post.
@k80flec Impressive. Love the mud pic. (and the DOMS wasn't as bad as I thought, but my arms were sore enough to skip TRX this morning so I'm fresh for my session with my trainer tomorrow)
Took myself to the treadmill under the fan and ran 2.1 miles.

@k80flec: Congrats on a very nasty race. I hate muddy trail runs...mainly because it puts my knee at further risk for injury. I also hate the suctioned cup steps when trying to get through it. Sometimes it takes so much energy just to lift up the feet. You should be so proud of your accomplishments.
@Congrats on all those making goal. Keeping pushing on folks, there is still time.
@Just_Ceci: Send some of that cooler weather east....please.
July 26: Adding 15 miles today. Managed another 3 mile run before the humidity poured in. By the time I got to our demo gardens this evening, the humidity was back, along wth lots of biting flies. Got several long walks in and did a few miles on the bike.
TTD:360 miles

Such an inspiration. Thanks for posting. I know exactly what you mean about weight issues will always be a problem, but this group really does make it easier to keep fighting. Congrats on all you have accomplished.

6 mile long run today puts me at 72. I should make goal on Saturday. I'm really glad I signed up for a virtual training plan. I was having trouble getting motivated but this plan has gotten me going. We'll see if I still like it when I get up to the 20 mile long runs lol.
