My question, when you order do you go up bigger than your shoe & trim them back? I wear 8.5-9 anymore in running shoes. Gosh I was always 7-7.5 till like 8 years ago & boom I'm now wearing bigger shoes. Crazy!

July: 160 m running, purposeful walking, cycling

    28th: 4.5 miles purposeful walking - MTD 185.65
29th: 7 miles, 3.75m Park Run and warm up, 3.25m purposeful walking - MTD 192.65
    30th: 0 miles - MTD 192.65

@vhuber - congratulations on surviving an 18 hour move for your family. I can't even begin to imagine a journey that long that didn't involve international borders! As for your feet issues - at least some of the worst scenarios have been eliminated - which has to be good news. Time and orthotics will hopefully see the situation resolved.

@taxmom9093 - I'm sorry your mum is having difficulties with her knee again. As you said, the good news is that there does not seem to be an infection. You did say originally that keeping your mum from overdoing it whilst she was in recovery was going to be your challenge!!

@clepant - sounds like good news for you too on the parent front - here's hoping your dad makes a good and speedy recovery.

@clepant - glad you got an answer to your Dad's medical issues.

Adding 1 mile. Took my usual HIIT class with a sub, who I also had sub a class earlier this week. She likes everyone to answer her when she asks a question and enjoyed hearing "Yes Drill Sargeant!" (burpees were the activity of choice if you didn't answer or stopped moving). Lots of moving - it was circuits and I was at the stations with two guys, both younger than me. I know you're not supposed to compare yourself to others or judge, but I'll admit to being happy this 53 year old left them in the dust on most of the moves. It helps me see how far I've come.

@vhuber: You can call with any questions. They are great to deal with. I am. 6.5 in regular shoes but a wide. My last running shoe was a 7. I was just measured and told that my on foot is an 8 and the other has a slightly higher arch and is a 7.5. I was going numb sometimes and my feet always felt miserable until I stretched the heck out my shoes and by then I was ready for new shoes. I have a slightly wider foot. . I started with the s model and while okay, they swapped me out for the T model after I had purchased the. My size are up to the size 7. I did trying m it down using the inside foot insert. They give you directions on how to trim them and exercises to do. I went up in my new aBrooks to a 7.5 even though they said an 8. I never felt issues with my left foot which is suppose to be the size 8. So I upped my shoes to a 7.5 this time and there were no foot issues at all. It was like they were made for my feet. I took the my 7 Protalis and used it in the new 7.5 shoes and they still worked with no issues.

If I were you, I would get the women's insert that goes up to size 9 and trim them. But call them...or email first. They are so helpful. When you run, your feet will flatten out and enlarge and also swell so that is why the need for larger running shoes. I still wear 6.5 or 7 wide in my regular dress and casual shoes.

@anaconda: I cannot imagine your high temps out there. You are right, it is absolutely crazy weather and aI think we are going to see lots more of it. They raised our growing season zone here just a couple years ago. I still don't buy it and only but plants in my old One because we will end up having a absolute,y frigid cold and everything will die. So what you can to stay cool for your training.

Well I'm not going to make it this month but I'm still moving so hey, there is still good news. Added 9 miles for a July total of 60.5 miles.

    exercise.png

I'm having lunch with my mom tomorrow and I'll see how she is walking. I have a feeling she is not taking care getting into and out of her car, so maybe I'll be able to give her some suggestions there. IF she is ready to hear me anyway.

    MTD 229.43 miles.

Pleased with the total as it has been a hard month with floods and frosts. Very nervous this morning as very icy, and I didn't want to fall - have a half marathon on Sunday!

Got a new cooling towel for when I'm riding. Worked pretty good yesterday. You wet it, snap it and put it around your neck. This one is a tube. It cools via evaporation. 95 degrees on the bike on my way to work but it didn't feel that hot. It was still hot, but didn't feel 95. It felt more like about 85. Worked really well.

@CLEPANT - That would be fun to surprise you at the end of one of your races sometime! That would be great! Someday when I'm out that way on a motorcycle trip...

Great job, all of you!! It's the last day of the month so let's get those miles in whether you're close or not! :drinker:

Before I read this I had just said to my grandson that if this wind goes down before dark we should go for a bike ride. I've only ridden my outside bike ONCE since knee surgery. Wasn't suppose to do anything that made deep knee bends & when I did ride that one time it was quite sore afterwards. On the ex-bike I have the seat moved to where I'm not bending it much.
Your area has been hot too?? Even when you are in the mountains.. just crazy!!!
