@ddmom0811 - I find the calories in restaurant food to be a travesty. We like BJs occasionally and they have an 'enlightened' salad that I really like that isn't bad but when I look at the other salads, some have 1500 + calories, in a salad! I think most people would think it is a healthy choice if they didn't look at the nutrition info.

I may need to do a chart too... I have been trying to lose 20-25 points for a while now. Seems like with every injury I gained around 5lbs and then couldn't lose much of it. Sharon I think when I saw you last year I was at the high end of that and I have lost about 6 since then. You looked great then and not like you needed or had anything to lose.

I also know I can't focus too much on trying to lose right now until the HM is over with and then I will start cutting back a bit. You both are quite a bit taller than I am. On a good day I am maybe 5'1" and the doctors office measured me once at 5'2" and that has forever been on my chart but realistically I am just over 5'. I do have quite a bit of muscle now too but it is not an excuse for the weight being where it is. Losing the 6lbs has allowed me to wear tops that were too tight before but interestingly my jeans have continued to fit ok even with the gain overall. I do have one pair of size 2 pants that I was so excited to fit into years ago that my trainer then said, good now we are going to build you up to a size 4 or 6 and that is where I remain. I no longer fit in the size 2s and I suppose I should get rid of them.

DH had little Cinnabon cinnamon rolls with chopped up Snickers on them for breakfast this morning... ugh I can't imagine. He is sure I am missing out but I don't think I could eat it under any circumstances. I will have my eggs and yogurt and then we head to WA after a nice long walk in the park here.

I’ve gone off the rails. Horrible food and no exercise. It’s not even been about the food, I can eat 5 plums just as easily as a bag of chips. It’s just mindless eating.

So today I’m putting some real effort to stoping this.
Plan today is coffee. Then a sweet potato with butter and cinnamon late in the day. Hopefully nothing else.

    Good luck everyone!

@ddmom0811 Great job on the weight loss. I like your chart. I may need to do something similar. I'm curious if you weigh every day? I do and can go up and down 4 - 5 pounds overnight, depending on how much sodium I have consumed (and whether or not I've had a BM. TMI?). I'm 5'6" and am trying to get to 135. That may be a little overly ambitious. I'm at around 152 now - was actually 156 this morning, but that's because I had a late night, calorie and salt filled dinner last night. But is was soooo good, I'm not going to feel guilty. LOL Anyway, how did you come up with your numbers? I know you said you are still working on it, but just curious. People tell me I don't need to lose anymore, but I feel like I do. I just don't feel comfortable over 150.

    TMI? Not among running friends.

The 6 pounds I gained at the wedding... I've already lost 5 of them but I knew that would happen.

I feel like a giant here. I'm 6'5". 216# at the moment, trying since 2015 to reach 200. I hit 208 before 2015 was over, and have been as low as 203, but can't seem to get to my goal (and then stay there!)

On the other hand, I seem to do just fine hovering around 210 to 215 without extraordinary effort. I could just resign myself to that range but I don't want to give up on my goal!

@7lenny7 - ahh you aren't a giant in my house. My husband is 6'4" and 240 but been trying to get down for years.
My son (married with child now) is 6'7" and daughter, 6'2"! I remember all your kids are tall too! Maybe like me, in order to exercise as much as we do, you have to eat more!

@quilteryoyo - I do weigh everyday when I am home. I can go up 2-3 pounds overnight, but I don't think I've gone up more than that in one night. Salty food is definitely the culprit there -- frozen food or eating out will do it! People told me I was too thin when I first got down to 140 and I really didn't think so, it was too hard to sustain with my exercising. And I've been lifting weights pretty seriously for 3 years now so I think that has added weight, yet clothes still fit. So I got to the numbers by knowing what fits at these weights and how I feel. I basically don't want to be bigger than a size 8. That may seem big to some people but on me, it's not. I have 6-8 in my closet and very happy with those sizes. People never believe me if I tell them I weigh around 150. I have always weighed more than people think I do. I don't know why that is, but I have joked I should go to those weird carnival games where they guess your age and weight. Although they probably can identify where the pounds are!
Yes, never TMI with runners! We totally get it. If anyone looks at my runs on Strava some days I never venture far from my house because I know I am going to have to make a stop at home! Or you will see me stop at a store for a pitstop.
BTW, I had become in the habit of weighting myself before and after a run to see how much I lost in water and if I stopped at home for bathroom, that adds to it. I think that was tricking me. My scale just keeps the lowest number for the day. So I would be down 2-3 pounds after each run and I was using that as my weight. However, the water weight was not "lost" for good. I'd eat more during the day thinking "hey! My weight is good!" But really it wasn't. So I stopped weighing myself after runs so I won't be tricking myself anymore.

@shanaber - I agree that calories can be way off in restaurants. I know I read years ago that they are going to be required in chains but not sure when that is supposed to happen and how would we ever check it! What we need is an app that takes a picture and sample of food and tells us the calories/fat/etc. But we are years away from that!
You are right by where my sister lives. She is in Washougal, WA - just over Columbia River by Portland. And of course my daughter is in Portland. I'll be there mid-Oct for a visit! I have not been able to eat a cinnabon ever since they first opened. I was at the mall and the kids were babies. I watched the Cinnabon person making them and she put a stick of butter in every single muffin/bun holder. Maybe it was something that held more than 1 bun, or maybe it was a small stick of butter, but that's what I witnessed! I just couldn't justify eating a Cinnabon ever again since then! Also- I mentioned to you that chocolate was my downfall and I've done really well not eating it! I realize now that I was grabbing a Dove candy here and there and those add up!

@elise4270 - We've all been there. As I've said if any of us could figure out how to train the mind to get back on track with eating, we'd be billionaires! It is such a mental thing -- getting started/restarted/keeping it off! One day at a time is my motto!

@Elise4270 Not that I'm an expert or anything, but that doesn't sound like very much food for an entire day. I've read that you should never go below 1200 calories for more than a day or two. Supposedly, it puts you in starvation mode and what you do eat gets stored (i.e. fat). This could be an old wives tale, but I do seem to do better if I eat at least 1200.

@7lenny7 I figured most of your weight was from water retention. Not sure how you could eat enough calories to gain that much actual weight in a day.

@ddmom0811 Thanks for the info. I would like to get back to a size 8. That is what I was when I was at 135. It didn't last long, but I do have some pretty cute clothes that size I'd like to be able to wear again. No one believes me when I tell them I what I weigh either. So, we must have similar body types. Just seem to carry the weight well and it seems to be "all over." When it's isolated in one spot, like the stomach or thighs, it's easy to see the difference. When it's an overall loss, it is harder to spot because the proportions are relatively the same, I think. (Not sure I explained that well, but hope you understood what I meant.) I still want to get below 150 and stay there. I'm currently in size 12-14. Really would love to get to those single digits again.

As for calories in restaurant food. I am just as flabbergasted at the amount of sodium in their food. When dad had his heart issues, I started searching to see if there were any good places/menu items he could have that were low sodium. I happened to look at Applebees low calorie items that I had been getting, thinking I was doing a good thing. Oh My Gosh! There was 2 days worth of sodium in one portion! It's ridiculous. Cooking at home is definitely the way to go when possible.

Awe thanks @quilteryoyo. I really don't lose weight until I keep my calories below 800. I might just be bad at logging, even had my RMR measured and it confirmed such numbers.
I've gained enough that a few days of light eating will not hurt me. I've gotten so fat, I'm in a D bra now, from a B. I hate it and the belly roll.

Stuck to it today. Had only an unplanned fruit lime popsicle. Tomorrow is still undecided. I need a plan before I go to McDonald's at lunch.

Two things I try to do at restaurants. First, before I take a bite I split the dish into two portions. Eat one, bring the other home. Right there I've cut the calories in half.

The other thing I do is a lot harder. If I get my choice of sides, I get the healthiest choice... That part's easy. If I only get one poor choice, like fries, I tell them not to bring them out at all because I know I'll eat them. The cheap *kitten* in me hates doing it because I've paid for them but I know if they come to the table, I'm eating them, and usually all of them.

Sometimes I fail and eat everything.

Good job today! 800 calories!!! Oh my gosh, that is so few. That's not fair for you. I could never survive on that. I have always had a weird thing where I can eat more than what is recommended. For example, many years ago (15 or more probably) on Weight Watchers I always ate more than they said and lost. And when I was losing I had my calories at 1500 and then if I exercised I ate more. Since restarting to count the last few weeks I'm having 1700-2000 depending on how much exercise I did. I've gotten lazy on adding my dinner the last few days, again.

@quilteryoyo - Yes, I see what you mean, and you are right that is how I am. Also, I have a wide back (at least I think so!) So I think that adds weight there.

@7lenny7 - Great idea to split the food immediately. I've heard of it and only done if the portion comes out massive. I never care about not getting the sides. If we eat out at breakfast, which we seem to do after riding, they always have grits, hashbrowns or potatoes and I don't like any of those. Love potatoes but not the way breakfast places make them. So I just say leave it all ... or if we rode really far I will ask if they can give me two biscuits instead of 1! I realized a few years ago that I don't actually like fries that much. I just ate them to eat them. So I never have them anymore.

I have never done the cut a portion in half either when eating out but I have no issue just eating half if the portion is too big. I am not big on potatoes at a restaurant mostly because they seem to soak them in sauce or oils. French fries I can take or leave but rarely get them, especially if I have a choice of something else like veggies or a salad. I pretty much always get a side salad with some kind of vinaigrette dressing on the side. I would take the grits though at breakfast because I love grits and I also love biscuits.

Last night we went to a bbq place that DH had heard about and it was wonderful. We shared a single order that had a bit of everything (brisket, pulled pork, smoked turkey, sausage and burnt ends). For sides he got baked beans and Gouda Mac and cheese. The brisket was pretty much the best I have ever had. It was delicious and I am not a big brisket fan. The burnt ends and pulled pork were also delicious. As for the sides the beans were terrible. Not sure what they put in them but they had a really off taste that neither of us liked. The mac and cheese was good but very rich. A bite or two was enough for me.

We went to a small local farm to table restaurant for a late lunch/early dinner and I had a spinach salad with grilled chicken, apples, blue cheese and pecans and an apple cider vinaigrette. Everything is grown locally and was so fresh. I could have eaten the cheese all by itself it was so good. We did ordered pig candy since dh had never had it. Since it is essentially bacon I knew he would love it and he ended up putting most of it on his burger. Below the cut is a little sign they had up about the restaurant and the owner's beginnings.

I work part time (supposed to be a substitute, but seem to work most days that I'm available) at my church daycare center. I know you aren't supposed to have favorites, but I think I found my favorite today. He came in fairly early this morning, sat on my lap and cuddled a minute before he said, "You're like a warm, fluffy marshmallow......but a skinny one!" Yeah. He's now my favorite.

    Haahaa! Oh that is cute!

@7lenny7 - awesome that you are in your sweet spot. I need to figure out where mine is!
@quilteryoyo - Too cute! I teach 10-12th graders so no cuddles here! But mine are cute too. There are so many more kids on the spectrum now and they are just so sweet. Sometimes there is one that might be difficult to deal with but usually they are great. One I had last year walked up to me and asked me "are your teeth crooked?" Um, yeah, where your retainer like I didn't.
@rheddmobile - Great you have a system to handle the lupus. I never weigh myself at night! I would be horrified by the number even though I know it is really just food/water weight.
@shanaber - sounds like you guys are having a great time! Weird on the beans at the BBQ place. The beans are usually my favorite thing. Since I became vegetarian a year ago not sure what I would eat there!

I am now down 6 from when I re-started on Aug 20. Still in my warning zone, lol, but I feel really good here. Maybe I'll adjust my chart again! Of course, not much use in having a chart if I just change it all the time, lol.
I had a 4.5 mile run this morning and I feel great today. Plus I got ALL my grading done last night, so that's like a cloud lifted off my shoulders. It's a short lived happiness because they will turn in something today in 2 classes. ;)

Had a nice run this morning! 4.5 miles and 3 miles slow and steady then intervals 1 min/1min the rest of the time. You know I hate running in this humidity (compared to running in cold weather) but I do enjoy the sweat! All my clothes are drenched when I get home. They are calling

On food - I eat the same breakfast and lunch every single day of the school year that I am here. So about 170 days - since I have various field trips and PD I go to! Breakfast is Fage yogurt (2% or 0) with blueberries and local honey.
Lunch is a salad that I make and I guess I do mix up the protein in it some days. It's either a hardboiled egg and/or Hemp seeds. I know you BBQ people are thinking "what!? - yuck!"
I think I need to mix up at least breakfast. I know it's not really good to eat the same food that much. But at least it's no 7 days a week! Maybe oatmeal?

I have good intentions for logging but after not logging all summer I keep forgetting to do it. Breakfast and lunch are no problem but after that...

17 mile group trail run tonight under the full moon. I might stop at Burger King for a Whopper after that. I love Whoppers but only have them once every 2 or 3 years.

@quilteryoyo - That little one would be my favorite too! So cute!
@ddmom0811 - the older kids can be cute and sweet (and sometimes obnoxious) in their own way. Sometimes their thank yous and compliments are even better than the little ones' because you know you have gotten through to them.
@rheddmobile - I would never have thought to look a your weight like that to predict the onset of a flare. It makes sense though because of the inflammation that comes along with it.
@7lenny7 - I used to love Whppers, actually the Whopper Jr. But the last time I had one I was really really looking forward to it and it was just kinda meh... Decided I will save my calories for something else. You will have earned it tonight though after the 17 miles!

I log when I am home but when we are traveling it is just too hard. I can do breakfast and maybe lunch but for dinner there is typically no way to know...
Like @ddmom0811 I have greek yogurt pretty much everyday with homemade granola and some fruit. Peaches and nectarines are my favorite or strawberries. I usually mix it up once in a while with some oatmeal with walnuts and dried tart cherries. That is also what I typically have before a long run or race too. On regular run days I have toast and PB before I head out. I do have issues figuring out what to eat for lunch. Usually it is past lunch time depending on if/when I ran and I don't want to eat too much too close to dinner. Lately it has been some sort of wrap with lots of veggies and a bit of protein of some sort.

@rheddmobile Glad you have found a system that helps you control your lupus. I only weigh at night every once in a while and know that I am going to be 3 - 4 pounds higher than I will be the next morning. I do weigh every day, but I officially count my Saturday morning weight as my weight for the week.

@ddmom0811 Kids have no filter! LOL I had one pretend to take my picture and then said, "Your teeth are yellow." I'm like, yep, from years of coffee drinking. Mine are crooked too. I've thought about getting invisaligns, but decided it was too expensive. I've had these teeth for 60 years and they aren't that bad. I have better things to spend my money on. Nice run, BTW.

I am trying to log better. It's hard when I eat some of the daycare leftovers for lunch. No measuring or any idea of the ingredients. So, it's a total guess on those calories.

    Coffee
    Starbucks egg bites
Bread w butter and peach marmalade x3

I kind wish dh would feed me. He doesn’t seem to mind me doing laundry, setting up a 26 pound CPM machine and suggested I make a frozen pizza. I may gotta, on my way to fetch ice for my hip. My post op post nsaid explosive tummy weight is 124.7. Up about 3 pounds. Not bad, the first surgery I was up 10.

Today and yesterday feel like one day. It’s so weird. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

@shanaber - you are right when they thank you, it is very special. The kid I taught that is now at MIT nominated me for the teacher with the most influence over him so I got a nice letter from MIT that I framed! I taught him all 4 years of HS and had to invent a class for him to take.

@quilteryoyo -I've thought of the same thing with invisaligns and I may investigate it. Mine aren't that bad either so maybe it wouldn't take too long.

Today was 45 miles on bike followed by FitBod app, lifting upper body. The ride was excellent. We had a nice tailwind a lot of the way (shockingly!) and I felt pretty good most of the way. On the ride I have started drinking just Ultima (electrolyte thing added to water) and I usually eat 3 Kidz Cliff Bars - so that is about 360 calories. I used to eat way more than that on a ride because I ate a lot of Sports Beans but I realized the sugar was making me crash so I stopped it. This seems better and obviously less sugar.

When I woke up I was down 2 pounds! I will have to eat a lot today to recover so I'll be up tomorrow, but I feel a good trend the last 3 weeks!

@7lenny7 - awesome run on the full moon!!! Very cool!

Going to see granddaughter this afternoon!

@ddmom0811 - I had Invisalign's and they worked great. My teeth moved fast so instead of a year it only took me 6 months, we changed out trays once a week. Now I am in the Invisalign 'retainers' that I wear at night.

    Wait... Granddaughter?

DH bought Mexican food for lunch. I happily obliged. Rice, beans, and sauteed onion and bell peppers with fajita meat. I'm sure I've had enough to eat, but would like some pie.

@ddmom0811 thanks! And love da baby!

I think the few days before surgery, resetting my eating habits, has helped. I’m making better choices slowly and am not snacking constantly. I did ask dh for Mac and cheese today. It turned out to be much like the fish stick desire; better left a memory.

    Hope everyone is eating well!

@Elise4270 - oh my gosh too funny about the Mac and Cheese and fish sticks. I totally get it. There is a pizza place about 40 mins from here that we used to go to but hadn't been to in a long time because it just seems to far to go for slices of pizza. Last weekend we decided to drive there and we both agreed either the pizza changed or this is simply not as good as we remembered it. Should have stayed closer to home and gotten what we know is good.

Last night we went to The Columbia. If any of you have ever been to Tampa, St. Augustine or Clearwater you may know the restaurant. It's been around for many years (60?) in Ybor City and whenever we go to Tampa we eat there. Actually the original one in Ybor isn't as good as the one by the water in Tampa. Anyway, they are famous for their 1905 salad. I always get that, sans ham, and black bean soup (with rice). And then they put this Cuban bread on the table. And wine. So I was up 2 pounds today! but I knew it was coming and know that I didn't really gain it - the food is quite salty and I am always up after that meal! The salad dressing has a ton of calories though. Next time I am going to ask for half of the dressing, because they use more than I want anyway. They make the salad at your table. The one we went to in Celebration - we NEVER go that far for a meal (about 50 min drive). Celebration is a little "Disney town" close to Disney World (we never go to that either). My kids grew up here and only went 3 times in their lives.

I made my "summer chili" yesterday afternoon so we will have that a couple nights this week. And one night a frozen Michael Angelos Veg Lasagne. It's really good for a frozen meal, if you are ever looking for one. I imagine the one with meat is good too. I used to make a good veg lasagne but haven't bothered in a while. This one is so good and although the sodium is probably high, it's not as bad as other frozen meals. It's the only frozen meal I will eat.

I don't know why I call it "summer chili". I add a bunch of edamame to it (buy the frozen bag already shelled), celery, onion and only one can of kidney beans. I use canned tomatoes - love the Rotel tomatoes but if I use strictly that, it's too spicy for me so I use 2 cans of original Rotel spicy, 1 can mild, and then one big can of just plain diced tomatoes. With all that spice I don't even add my own chili powder or cumin, it's quite tasty as is. Then just throw in a ton of the veggies/beans and that's it. I have added some various fake beefs to it in the past and happen to have one on hand so added that too. It looks good! I haven't tried it. I'm one of these weird people that doesn't like to try food when cooking. Logically I know this is not smart, but IDK I just have never done it. Unless it's cookie dough. My friends who are good cooks tell me they try their food so often while cooking they have no spoons left in drawer and they are so full they can't eat. LOL
Here is how it looked last night.

@ddmom0811 - Ella!! If you had said her name in your post I would have remembered! She is such a cutie!!
That chili looks delicious! I need to make some, I usually make it around the 4th but this year I didn't for whatever reason. I use the Ranch Style brand beans with Jalapeños in mine for spice but might try the Rotel spicy tomatoes too... mmm...
I'm a taster but lately I have just been having DH taste as he is much pickier then I am.

@Elise4270 - I hate when you have something in your mind that you remember and really want and then not doesn't taste nearly as good as you thought it would...

After my race yesterday we all went to the Elmer's here. Not sure if you all have them but they are basically a breakfast/brunch kind of place but also serve dinner. I was conflicted between just having eggs because they come with a biscuit and I love biscuits or having the German pancake that also comes with eggs and bacon. I ended up with the pancake and it was huge! I ate about half of it, a little eggs and one of the 4 huge pieces of bacon. Oh and I had a large glass of chocolate milk that tasted delicious, may have been the best part of breakfast 😁
For dinner we ordered Italian (Bolognese for me) with salads and ate in the hotel room while watching the football game.
This morning I am feeling pretty good after a really good night's sleep and had greek yogurt and granola for breakfast.
We are supposed to be heading out, supposed to be on the road actually by now and everything is all packed but the car is dead. No electrical function and it won't start of course. I am thinking battery or alternator but dh thinks it will need to be towed to the dealer. Thank goodness we have status at the hotel chain and they will accommodate us pretty much as long as we need to wait before actually going for another night here. As it is now we are shooting for a 2pm check out.

Ugh @shanaber hope the vehicle is an easy inexpensive fix.

@ddmom0811 the chili does look good! Mmm!

I had frozen pizza today. Not sure what's for supper. Any ideas?

I should make a good soup, even if it's hot out. Everyone loves soup.

@shanaber I hope the car had only minor issues and got fixed quickly.

I ate okay today. I had my regular breakfast of one egg, one slice of bread, and some cheese. And, coffee, of course. For lunch, I had a homemade salad with turkey and a Chobani yogurt. After my 2.25 mile walk tonight, I had a bowl of Kashi Go Lean cereal. I probably need to eat a little bit more. I'm sure I'll have a snack attack before I go to bed. LOL I didn't drink enough today. I could really tell it during my walk. I usually do a lot better, but it's hard to find the time to get a drink when I am working at the daycare, and today was particularly hard.

We had the annual state assessment. I am currently working in the 3 - 5 year old class because the lead teacher just had a baby last Thursday. They randomly pick the rooms they assess....one of the infant and toddler rooms and one of the early childhood ones. There are only 2 early childhood rooms. Of course, the one I was in today got chosen. The exact same thing happened last year - the lead teacher was out on maternity leave and they chose her room (the same one, btw). I think we did okay, but it is a little stressful to have someone watch your every move and listen to your every word for 4.5 hours. And, of course, the kids decided to act out in ways they never have before! It'll be six weeks before we get our scores and know how we did.

I ended the day with more (guessed) calories than I should have. But eh, I'm resisting the sugar.

Tomorrow is another go at it.
