If I asked him not to bring candy and he thought it was funny, he’d be picking Nerds out of his skin like buckshot, for real. @Elise4270 That's a great win in my book. The MFP goal is what you need to eat to lose whatever amount per week that you set it to. So, eating ONLY 300 calories over is great. You are still probably on the losing side of things. Only slower. Good luck with today.

Ya I'm just lucky thataway. IDK why I can't get a little support. My next life, I plan on a supportive life partner. I'm 0 for 2 in this one.

I didn't even think about that sodium. Today my weight is up yet again. I think my body is trying to do PMS. It's awful.

Food wise I did okay today. I’m under by 40 calories and stuffed, or bloated. Probably both.

I climbed some stairs today. As hard as it is, I think (so far), it’s beneficial. My knee hurt less once my quads were able to engage. I think it really is strength, I just hope I don’t tear anything up before it’s stronger. I found after waking the quad, if I heal strike a bit, I had no knee pain and the leg felt near normal. It just that hip that isn’t allowing me a normal gait.

My computer won’t run an online class so I took dh up on the offer to use his. I don’t like it, it has windows 10 and so much crap... i can’t seem to change the default home screen and it goes to ms news. Ugh. I said I needed a chrome book (per dd), he said no way... then 15 minutes later said “get one with school money”. I may. But happy to have access to my coursework, even happier if I can get all this virtual fodder off of it. Dd had been making fun of mine since it’s like 2 inches thick. I do like this giant thin super light one.

    Tomorrow’s food?

Today was puppy class night and a busy day of errands. I ate breakfast/lunch around 3 and dinner after class at 8:30... very late for everything but the food quality was good. My usual greek yogurt with a fresh peach and homemade granola and Panera salad for dinner.

Last night we bbq'd brats with sauerkraut and German mustard and salads. It was too much salt but tasted SO good.

DH is off to Seattle tomorrow to babysit dd's dog while she is at a conference. So I am on my own with no real requirement to cook except what I want for the next week. So many choices and nothing at all seems to be at the top of my list. It won't get me through my long runs or any runs at all really so I need to come up with some good choices.

I'm heading off on another road trip to FL tomorrow. I am going to try out some different, hopefully healthier, snacks for the road. Do you think I got enough? mszpybhlqjzx.jpg

Wow @quilteryoyo ! LOTS of snacks!!!! I hope you have a safe trip!

Thanks @Elise4270 ! I say if you are staying within your calorie goal, don't worry about how "good" or "bad" it is.

@quilteryoyo - those look like good choices.
@elise4270 - make the best choices you can for where you are right now. That is pretty much where my head is these days.
I am doing ok. Trying to eat/drink enough to fuel my runs. I don't think, for a few lately, that I have hydrated enough before my runs. So I am trying to get more water in everyday and overnight, without having to get up and pee every couple of hours.
I also haven't been able to get in all of my meals. When I do, I do well on calories and macros. When I don't, I don't get enough calories and while close on my macros (percentage wise) I am not hitting anything.
The other issue is nothing sounds good. I need to find things I like and want to eat for breakfast and lunch. Dinner is not as much of an issue for whatever reason.

Oh - I have another concert at the Bowl this Friday and have a side dish as my item to bring. I decided on a veggie and pasta salad and then I found a recipe for zucchini tater tots that I am going to make. They look delicious. I am also bringing guac and chips for and appetizer with some amazing fresh salsa and chips I found!

I have a loooong day ahead. I woke up early, 230-3am, cats, and couldn't sleep. I have class, doc appointments, homework, school applications, more stuff to sort out again with financial aid, an irregular ECG... And I get a call last night that I'm to get an MRI ASAP. So today I'm going to Dallas after morning class an hour in the opposite direction.

Anyway, I couldn't sleep and my hip wouldn't let me. And then I had some belly pain, like gallbladder colic. And booger bear is missing me so he's rowdy every time I move my feet.

I have to see my PCP to get a surgery release because of the ECG... And ugh, I'm in this statistics class that I want out of, so I begged an alternate instructor to let me in his closed class. I can do the hard class, but I was there, had changed sections after he printed his roster and would not give me credit for attending, which is 10% of my grade.... So... With sx coming up, I don't wanna mess with this guy.

...and I started my period today finally after 5 months...

That's my woes. What's for breakfast?

@elise4370 - I hate it when professors are hard *kitten*, especially over something dumb. Basing a grade, even partially, on attendance is the worst. If you can do the work and not be there who cares if you sit through the lecture. In your case you were there but he won't count you because you weren't officially there yet...uggg, can you drop the class?
    What is the MRI for?
Will they re do the EKG? I have had irregular ones before but it is typically a one off due to something I ate, drank or just stress. Come back in a week or two and it is normal again. Anyways, I hope all of that works itself out!

Breakfast... my usual yogurt with a peach because well peaches and it is peach season!
I made tuna salad yesterday and picked up some cottage cheese and the good flatout wrappers. Trying to eat better and get my macros closer. I also bought a store made pasta dish for a couple of meals. It is surprisingly healthy with carbs and protein pretty much equal and fat ok too. We'll see how it tastes. I love my own sauces so I am picky but really don't want to make any right now. Maybe next week when DH gets home.

Going to make those zucchini tater tots tonight for tomorrow but will only cook a few to see how they are and cook the rest tomorrow afternoon.

Hey @elise4270 and @shanaber and everyone else!
I guess I need some accountability. I'm not sure how it happened but my weight is up. OK, that's like saying "I'm pregnant but not sure how it happened!" Obviously, I ate too much. I keep thinking of @MobyCarp and his statement "I can't out run my fork". It is so true! That has helped me this week!

For me the problem is desserts and more specifically chocolate!

I was aghast this Monday when I weighed in at what is overweight for my 5'7" height! So I started on Monday tracking everything. I'm down 2 since then but that's probably water.

When school is in (which started the 14th) it is much easier because I'm not eating as much all day.

Breakfast during school year is 90% of the time Fage yogurt 2% fat, with frozen wild blueberries. If I've run that morning I will need a banana or Kidz Cliff Bar to hold me over until lunch.

For lunch nearly every single school day I bring a salad. For those that said "I'm not disciplined to make my lunch", I make 3 at a time. I find the salad is fine like that. I've even made all 5 in advance and that was okay but I usually just make 3, then Wednesday make 2. It doesn't feel as overwhelming having to face it each night.

I worked a lot this summer at school on the school database and ate out every day with a co-worker. I told her that on Fridays I would go and eat pizza/salad at a place right across the street (no classes in the afternoons on Fridays). Now at this weight I don't want to! If I tell her that she's going to say "you're not overweight!" Sorry, but yes, I am. If I am riding with cycling club on Saturday or doing a long run, I could probably use the carbs on a Friday though.

Dinner is always my challenge. I do make a meal on Sunday that will last 2-3 nights. But sometimes we just feel like going out! Biggest trouble is wanting something sweet after dinner. If I've had wine, I tend to eat way too much dessert.

So far since Monday I've had no wine or chocolate! Tonight and the weekend I probably will have wine but going to hold off on chocolate, unless the wine convinces me otherwise.

It looks like this is not as busy as the running challenge, so maybe I can keep up! :)

@ddmom0811 welcome... Haha! Sorry it's weight that brings you over! But we all overdo it! Love the company though.

@shanaber . I need this class. I asked another instructor to let me in but he said that he has no physical room in his classroom. So, it won't be too bad I guess. It is crap that attendance is part of a grade, but I guess it's college policy to help with retention. He's just a big fish in a small pond with an ego... All pHD's...

The MRI, I sit waiting for, is (I assume), for surgical planning. My last one was before the osteotomy in Nov 2017. I'm on the count down!

The ECG finding was "sinus bradycardia", ya my HR was 59... Not uncommon at all. And "possible left atrium enlargement". I suspect my PCP will recheck it. DH was annoyed that it could put my sx date off, but I don't care. I do sort of... Cuz my hip hurts, but eh. If it's a thing then I need to know. In March my ECG was normal, so I suspect it's dehydration or something dumb. I peaked at the MRI order, it's for mckibbins index only, no contrast. Yay! So that just measures the various angles of the hip joint. He's checking Dr Jones'work 😊

@ddmom0811 - happy to see you here, sorry your weight is up 😊 I am impressed that you have had no wine or chocolate... I am ok with no chocolate I have to be in the mood for it and while I love it a tiny bit goes a long way for me. Wine is a bigger challenge for me. I like my glass of wine in the evenings but if I have it with dinner I tend to have too much because I get thirsty so I have been making sure I have a glass of water or sparkling water. Have you tried alternatives for something sweet, like fruit or even frozen yogurt? I really like Yasso bars. They are satisfying without taking me over the line on calories or carbs. Sometimes I have a cup of decaf coffee with some chocolate protein powder and find that is really good too.

@elise4270 - I was worried about the MRI because I somehow thought it was related to your ECG. Your bradycardia could also be because you are a runner. My HR is really low, was before I started running and has dropped even more. My EKG results are always flagged but the cardiologist and my GP know not to worry about it any longer. If I have issues they will look into a pacemaker. I know it is inevitable at some point but it isn't a big deal. I guess if yours had a major change though it would be cause for concern.

The bradycardia sounds like normal runner stuff, my resting HR is 48. Doctors always freak until they learn that I run. Isn’t enlargement also pretty common among runners?

@ddmom0811 Welcome to this group. Hopefully it will help.

@Elise4270 Hope your heart is okay and they can go ahead and do your surgery.

I did okay with the snacks I had today - for the drive. I ate several grapes, some cheese and crackers, some of the green apple chips, and some of the energy trail mix. I did seem to stay awake a lot better than I usually do. Maybe these "healthier" things are doing the trick. That being said, I'm not real sure about the green apple chips. The first bite was a sensory overload - kind of like when you bite into a lemon and aren't expecting it. It was really sour with a hint of sweetness. Not my favorite taste at all! But, I tried again and took smaller bites and they turned out to be not too bad. I took tiny bites, so one little chip took me 5 or 6 bites. LOL Had they been real chips, that bag would have been gone in 2 minutes flat. I still have over half of the bag of these left. Does anyone else eat those chips? What do you think about them?

I was proud of myself, but when I stopped for the night, I decided to get real food at the restaurant attached to the hotel. I had pasta primavera with chicken and a glass of wine. Way too much food at 8 pm. I still count the snacks as a win for me. Now if I can just talk myself into exercising instead of eating when I stop I'll be good.

Chocolate and wine sound so good. I'm a tad envious since they both are migraine triggers for me.

Haha yes "PhD" haha not "pHD". Can ya tell I got chemistry and math on the brain. p= -log, H= hydrogen, D= deuterium. Not thinking Philosophy Doctorate. How "bout some alpha helixes and some beta sheets? Did ya know rolly poley's are crustations and have gills? I have been up 18-19 hours and drove 300 miles today.

Yes it is. But hadn't been noted before, that I know of. Google said lose weight (normal), stop smoking (dont), reduce alcohol (3drinks/yr.. ok maybe 5), reduce stress (die?), and exercise. Think I'm ticking those boxes. We'll see Tuesday what PCP says.

Thanks @quilteryoyo ! I'll be fine eether/iither way. 🤪 Glad to hear the snacking trip went well! I'd love the sour tart apple chips! Maybe use then as a crisp and put that cheese on one! Mmmm!

This made me first laugh out loud and then wish I could give you a hug or at least fix you something to eat! I did not know that but it makes sense when you look at them.

@quilteryoyo - I love the tart apple chips. I get the Bare Naked brand and yes they are tart at first bite. I like @elise4270's suggestion of having them with cheese. There are also some that have cinnamon on them that are really good too. You just have to watch that they don't have added sugar too.

    Thanks ladies!
I did have a big glass of wine last night and still managed to have no desserts! But my weight was up a little this morning. Today is a rest day so that I can hopefully do well with the cycling club in the morning!

@shanaber - I don't think yogurt with fruit as a dessert would satisfy me at all. For me dessert has to have chocolate in it! Shockingly I've gone 5 days without dessert! The watermelon is really good right now (which by the way is very unusual for Florida - usually it's good in June/July and terrible after that). So I've had a slice of that after lunch and dinner which helps. Never heard of Yasso bars but will check them out!

    @quilteryoyo - your name could be my mom's name! She's a big time quilter and also a yo-yo-er. :)
I don't like tart apple chips either.

Been busy enough that I'm making better food choices; then dh asks if I want a red Robin burger. Ya, I'm going to eat too much then go to bed early.

I had planned on walking some today. We had this amazing rain event, prob a few inches and it was 70°F. But I noticed my hip was so stiff that if I had to tie my shoes, I couldn't have. That's where I park it and try to do no more harm.

Ohhh my burger is home! Yay! I'm in this microbiology class, gah I love it. So I'll have some creepy prokaryotes with it, just hope it's not too many!

@Elise4270 - I love all the different biology classes... developmental was my favorite but micro was fascinating and definitely creepy when you stop to think about it which I always tried not to! 🥺 When you talk about your classes it really makes me want to take some. Maybe after the holidays since we have a bit of travel coming up that would get in the way.

We had the Hollywood Bowl again last night. I need to not drink wine when I haven't eaten - definitely not a great idea. We got to the Bowl early and sat outside the gates drinking wine and talking... by the time we got in and got our tables set I was needing to eat anything and everything or get sick.
I did make a really delicious veggie pasta salad for my side dish with tiny heirloom tomatoes, broccoli, zucchini, sun dried tomatoes, olives, parmesan cheese and homemade Italian dressing.
I also made the zucchini tater tots which I was very excited about and will likely never make again.. OMG what a mess! grated potatoes and zucchini everywhere! Then when I baked the first batch they stuck to the parchment paper and I ended up tossing them all in the trash. 2nd batch I put a dab of olive oil under each one and they were fine. They tasted really good but were just too much work.

@elise4270 - sorry about your hip. I'm the opposite when it comes to biology! Not my thing!

@shanaber - I know just what you mean. I need to not drink wine when I haven't eaten either, but it's so fun!
We rode 45 miles Saturday and then had a cycling party. In the past our cycling parties were a pot luck - everyone brings some type of dish. This time we paid $10 and we got appetizers. Not good at all after all that riding. The place we go is called Cork & Olive. Not sure if it is a chain - I've seen others but this one only has a bar. However, they started serving appetizers and since they do that, we are not allowed to bring in food. There was only one thing for vegetarians - basically French bread cut into slices with some tomato on it. It was good but you can't eat an entire meal of just that! They had said "heavy appetizers". I guess if I ate chicken and meatballs maybe it would have been! So lots of dancing and drinking and little eating. I was feeling rough at night's end! I did eat something when I got home.
Today we rode 52 miles! My butt is sore! Since I'll be back at school tomorrow I know I will be eating much healthier than I did this weekend!
Not sure on exercise tomorrow - maybe a very easy run or lifting!

Yesterday was okay. I had a long day to end a long week and didn’t eat until after 6pm. Dh wanted to go out of town to church so I said “what’s in it for me?” and got a Ruben sandwich and fried mushrooms then dessert; apple pie and ice cream.

Today. I had coffee for breakfast with Advil for a headache, 2 giant nachos (tostadas) for brunch, did some school work and decided my hip felt good enough to walk. Grabbed 2 more Advil on the way out as the headache was coming back... I figured it was the Ruben and bacon the day before or the pie/ice cream had soy. So I went for a good walk, thought “wow! I’m doing so good today”. I listened to 2 lectures recorded from last week, played Pokémon and headed home. Half way home I realized that my hip was likely doing so well because I took Advil for my head... duhhhhh. Haha! Now the Advil has worn off and I’ll probably grab some Tylenol or an rx tonight. It’s on fire. Oh well. 18 days, then I should be on the down hill from this wretched hip pain.

Dh bought candy. I ate some. But not all of it and I don’t have the desire too. Even if it is the sour sweet tart chews. Dinner I had 2 bowls of Cheerios and something else that I don’t recall. Oh cheese whisps.

What did you eat this weekend? Are you getting ready for that big thanksgiving meal yet? I am.... mmmmm!

I actually did ok other than too much wine on Friday night. Yesterday's dinner was a big salad with some of my pasta salad added in and some canned chicken. Tonight I had the pasta that I got at the grocery store. It was ok - probably won't buy it again but it was easy.
I also got some salsa and chips for the concert on Friday and I am going to have to get more of the salsa (fresh locally made). It was really really good. It was mostly all eaten on Friday and I finished it off tonight with a few of the chips. The grocer is starting to have fresh made corn tortilla chips that are also delicious, especially with the salsa 😁
DH is home tomorrow so back to trying to 'plan' dinners <sigh> I do better when I am planning just for me. He would not tolerate the salad dinner I had last night although the pasta would probably be fine.

Thanksgiving... I am cleaning out cupboards and came across my Thanksgiving (and Christmas) table linens. Was thinking we might have the brother and sister in law over, now that they are back in the US and close by, as I was refolding them so I will probably keep and use them again this year. So sort of planning but not specifically to a menu. I just want it to cool off! On the other hand football is on so that must mean the fall is getting close, right? Right??

I made a slow cooker meal called 10 layer slow cooker. It called for ground beef, but I used the veggie version of protein - crumbles. It came out really good. I'll attach a pic of recipe. It claims to be 10 servings and I went ahead and added it as a recipe for me, but didn't share with everyone. It comes out to 400 calories if you were to divide it by 10. I'm don't divide meals like that. How could you!!? I used a bag of frozen corn and frozen peas instead of canned. Also I used 2 cans of some version of cream of mushroom soup - a healthy version of some type, because I had big potatoes and I was using more corn and peas. Also, I added chili powder to my crumbles when I cooked those. Next time I will add even more.

Both my husband and I love it. I am going to end up freezing some of it by the end of the week.
I usually cook some type of Indian dish on Sunday or Monday and we eat it a 2-3 nights. Ever since going to London I've been obsessed with "curry meals". I buy fresh spices and they come out amazing!

Anyway, I'm back on track - eating my salads and yogurt and staying away from chocolate! And I am slowly going down!

Yep, @shanaber football is close! Go Gators!

I don't see an edit button anymore? But I meant to say with the variations I made mentioned above, it came out to approx 400 calories instead of 370. I don't know about the macros if anyone follows that. I don't follow macros. I do try to get a ton of protein since I became vegetarian, and still struggling on that. I use hemp seeds on my salads which don't really add any flavor, and actually just get stuck in my teeth! Oh well, forces me to brush after lunch!

@ddmom0811 looks good! Sounds almost like a pot pie without the crust! Mmm! I may have to put it on the menu this week. I’ve found the missing edit button shows back up if you refresh, idk what going on with it. Glitch I guess.

Doc update and some food chat.
Pcp thought everything looked fine, ekg normal, er means nothing. Nothing else looked of interest, liver enzymes an ooch low, but fine. I’m cleared for sx.
I had ramen with 2 guniea eggs and veggies, and put the roast in the ip, will add spiral cut carrots, sweet potato, cauliflower maybe and some tiny taters if we still have any. I’m going for a curry inspired roast, so I’ll add more spices too. Not sure if we have can coconut, but will prob not add that since the roast is grass fed and already fatty. We have some sugar snap peas left that may be a fine addition for crunchy texture too. I suppose I could make some basmati rice to sop up “gravy”.

My hip is actually doing fine today. The leg burns at the outer quad, but the hip isn’t terrible.

Blue Beary has nasty diarrhea, whole house smelled “diarrhea”... he went in a plant yesterday and missed so it ran all down the pot. Thank G-d for tile floors. He was then wormed, plant outside soaked down and all donation removed. Guess I’ll find some gravel to put on top of it to discourage that cute little nut. With his luck, I’m watching him for more sinister signs of poisons, or illnesses. Hopefully it’s just a wormy mouse. I have a video of him dragging off 3 rolls of tp in the plastic. @shanaber I think you are right, I need to teach him so much more, maybe fetch. I encouraged dh to bond with him, so he feeds him rotisserie chicken... today I was lucky to grab Bear as he was thinking to climb his leg as he fixed a sandwich, hoping for that chicken. Dh wouldn’t find that amusing at all. I on the other hand... would have laughed my self slapped! Hahaha!

@Elise4270 - Poor Blue Beary - hope he's okay now!

Yesterday was open house - parents come to each class for 10 minutes. It was okay last night but I'm pooped! When you get home from something like that at 10pm you are just wired. I guess it's how actors feel after a show! Thought it wise to sleep an extra hour instead of getting up to exercise so that happens after work today. There is a hurricane potentially headed toward Orlando where I live so everyone is filling up gas tanks and getting ready. On the way home I stopped to fill up my Prius (felt ridiculous because it was almost at half a tank but my husband insisted) and there were lines at every pump -- mostly people with gas cans for their generators. It is extremely rare for a storm to hit the east coast of FL and go straight thru middle of state. Someone told me many years ago there is some type of current over by Daytona that causes storms to move North or South, so I hope that's true. Not that I want to hit land anywhere, of course!

Because of open house there is no time to go home to eat between school and open house, so the school lets us order dinner from 3 choices. All of the choices were chicken - from some place called PDQ. Never been there myself - it didn't open here until I was already a vegetarian. So I went out with a group of friends between school and open house and had one huge slice of pizza and a Caprese salad. Ever since Italy this summer, I've been obsessed with finding a Caprese salad as good as one I had there. Nope -- the tomatoes are just not that good in Florida so it is not happening! We have to eat between 2:30-5:15 so when you get home you are starving! I ate dinner at 3:30! Had chocolate milk and two Nature's Recipe chocolate chip cookies. I guess I could have chosen a healthier snack but it is what it is. So I was almost at 2000 calories yesterday but I did run in the morning!

Every day with breakfast and my FAGE yogurt I have a tablespoon of local honey. I decided to cut that in half. Yeah, 30 calories makes no difference, but trying to cut back my sugar a little bit. I can't tell the difference in taste. The reason I have the honey is to help prevent allergies which works great for me.

    Geez, I'm rambling today!
