I just love really good pie crust in pretty much any form (pie, empanadas, other pastries) - it is something I work hard to avoid... I have been known to not eat the insides if it is something I don't like and just eat the crust...

@shanaber My older son has been known to cry that there was too much chicken in his chicken pie.

    I bought an InstantPot today.

@sarahthes - has he ever had a chicken hand (or pocket) pie? It is mostly pie crust with a little filling to make it not just crust 😂 I do not make or eat them any longer... but yum!
Congratulations on the IP - I hope you like it as much as I do! In case you need recipes I like these 2 sites and have had really great success with their recipes even when modifying them to what I have on hand... https://www.simplyhappyfoodie.com/category/instant-pot/

How is everyone doing with meals today? Still eating leftovers (those with after Thanksgiving food)? My DH went out for donuts again this morning... he did ask if I wanted anything this time and even though I said no, he brought home 8 or 10 or more - I don't know how many he had before I looked. So far I have not even been interested... we have so many carb/sweet things in the house right now I just don't understand the need for donuts too...
I had my usual Greek yogurt and granola for breakfast and will likely have a salad for lunch and turkey leftovers for dinner... now to get out and get lights up on our neighbors house.

@shanaber I'll have to check out those instant pot sites. My favorite, and it's more than just instant pot, is

    https://twosleevers.com/recipe-index/

She has a great recipe filter, lots of keto recipes (I'm not keto, but I try to reduce my carbs) and her butter chicken recipe is phenomenal! If I don't get her instant pot cookbook for Christmas I'll be ordering it myself.

We're still eating leftovers here, though I've finished the dressing and cranberry orange jello. We still have mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and lots of dry turkey.

I may make turkey wild rice soup tomorrow.

Eh... We fixed turkey and stuff last weekend, so no leftovers. But Dh made Kobe Chilli, bought caramel M&M's and fixed a (store bought) berry pie. Like most of America, my waistline is suffering. I'd planned on getting these carbs under control this weekend but sadly, I did not.

Tomorrow could be the day I eat better. We'll see.

Today my food was: peanut butter toast (too many pieces), too much coffee, a wrap from Tim Hortons, a cookie from Tim Hortons, a falafel wrap for supper (it had pickled turnip in it!), and an apple.

Now Ian (the almost 4 year old) and Rory (the 6.5 year old) are making chocolate chip cookies since my husband fixed the KitchenAid today.

I think I need more vegetables. I'm inspired to make my own falafel though. I found a recipe that uses the oven instead of deep frying.

I know I need more vegetables - my dear day after day is very lacking unless I have a salad. I need to make a goal to have veggies at least at lunch and dinner every day. Do you all have veggies at breakfast and if so what?
I also need to get my calories down - I have been trying to stay around 1500 but the last few days have been over 1700.

When I have time I make an egg scramble for breakfast and load it up with onions, peppers, mushrooms, and kale or spinach. And feta. If I do it right the eggs just act as a binder for everything else.

@7lenny7 Egg scrambles with lots of vegetables are one of my favourites but we don't seem to have time to make them very often. I add salsa.

I'm not much of a breakfast eater. I cant imagine something so mundane an torturous as veggies so early. Can you imagine a carrot stick with your coffee? Eh, might be okay. Might be the next trend.

A banana and a protein shake is about as far as i get.

I need to make a plan for today. DH admitted he has a problem with Walmart shopping. He seems to enjoy it and i let him do it because if i never have to set one in the store, I'd die happy.

He went last night and bought a brownie mix, chips, bean dip and probably more junk that i have yet to find.

So. Maybe i can be content with left over chilli today and stay out of the sugar.
Dh bought a tree and the cats think is just for them

Eggs with veggies for breakfast is a total win! What makes it even better is that my husband cooks it for me! I’m thoroughly spoiled.

Thanksgiving food was good and I managed to not gorge myself.

@Elise4270 your cats are studying the exact spot they want to pounce!

Those two cats don't play together. The "fat" one on the perch is grumpy. The one under the tree is my sweet "baby" cat that brings in her daily catches -today was an earth snake. I rescued it and returned it to the brutal outdoors. They did appear to be contemplating some dual mayhem this morning.
I ate better today. Just more chilli. I was lazy though. Barely ran my streak mile. It wasn't even hard, I was just lazy. I found a new Netflix show, "Sick Note" with Rupert Grint and Don Johnson. Season two has Lindsey Lohan.

I've gone from never watching tv to becoming a couch potato!

The holiday weekend is over, time for me to get back to tracking.

I think my weekend was OK for the most part but there were a couple of evening carb binges. And last night was date night, and my burger came with a huge pile of greasy fries and I ate every single one.

I skipped breakfast today since going out for lunch. Supper is some sort of soup. Hubby just threw a bunch of stuff in the slow cooker. Vegetable tofu barley with wild rice. Planning on cheese toast on the side, and maybe strawberries after.

I saw a thing on a running discussion elsewhere that suggested treating anything you need to do with a running metaphor - e.g., going hard on a task for work with a short deadline is just another kind of fartlek. I kind of like it.

I'm just fueling for my next race after all.

We haven't used the InstantPot yet. Hubby wants to wrap it and put it under the tree. I want to do an IP turkey for Christmas dinner.

I had a great day yesterday...until I got home. I had a really bad day at work and I let it get the better of me. Carb binge.

The scale reading this morning was 5# more than it was a week ago, a result of the T-day weekend overload. I will use this as motivation to get my *kitten* together.

You also have pitting edema, don't overlook that as a water retention source. I gained 5 lbs after my knee injury due to swelling.

I have decided to drop my calories again. I have been trying to stay under 1500 but I am going to try and keep to 1300 especially on days I am not doing cardio at the gym. I have a difficult time believing the 4-600 calorie burn my watch says I am getting. The nutritionist didn't really say much about it even when I expressed concern about gaining with not being able to run. I don't want to do my body harm by not eating enough again but really I am not moving enough to really need that much I don't think.

    @rheddmobile that's a good point! I hadn't considered that.

I got the IP out last night and made a turkey wild rice soup to use up the last of the turkey. YUM!! I forgot to weigh some of my food last night but with the walking I did earlier, I think I hit my calorie target.

So lazy. Burgers. Tacos. Brownies. I did add fresh cranberries to the brownies... Eh..

I need to make a soup.

Cereal got me last night but even though I wasn't tracking I feel like my calories weren't over maintenance.

Today has been okay but my husband bought me both a gingerbread scone and a butter tart. I'll have the tart after my run (no run, no tart) and the scone tomorrow.

    Well. Here we are.

I had pizza last night. I have been so busy at work lately that I have yet to acclimate to re-finding any motivation with food planning. Short daylight hours are not helping me any either.

I think I've been traumatized with all the pain I've had. I seriously feel that i have a fear of running. The first sign of pain, I'm out. I suppose that's a good thing. The wonky knee spooked me a bit. Today i may give it another go.

I am in a training class all day today. Just sitting all day. My hip will be pissed. I hope to have the disapline (spell correct will not confirm the spelling of disapline- so it's probably wrong.sry). Discipline?. Guessing game here too early for me.. ...Discipline to resist the abundance of no-no foods.

May the force (of disapline) be with you today!

@elise4270 - hope you can get a walk in during lunch or a break with a few stretches to help appease your hip!

Thanks @shanaber . We had frequent breaks and lunch was provided. I will try to loosen everything up tomorrow with a walk, run or something of the sort.

I didn't eat horribly today. I passed on the packaged snacks and had water and remembered that i had almonds in the car. Then a wrap from Chick-fil-A, chips and fruit. Then almonds again in the afternoon with a diet dr pepper.
I ate leftover pizza when i got home. Eh.

Tomorrow i am going to do a soup. Although work gave us some Christmas swag including a gift certificate for bbq. Mmmm!

    How's it going with all?
What challenges did you take on and conquer this week?

I ran a bit. And... Ummmmm... Worked honestly... and er... ☺️ Loved my cats?

@elise4270 - I would call that a success, especially pocket nuts in the car 😊
I guess my challenge was making myself get to the gym for cardio 3 times along with my strength training days despite the foot...also trying so hard to get my calories and macros in line especially with a lower calorie goal.
Tonight was El Pollo (DH's choice) not a bad choice but doesn't help with the fat macro 😕

I did nothing and logged about the same amount. I've been a mess this week. I will work to workout and log starting today.

*grinning, rubs hands together in a sinister "i got my way" way*

Dh went out for a run. I'm still shaking a headache (tom, maybe chocolate work gave us)
and sipping hot tea since we're out of coffee. I hand dh the gift certificate for BBQ, "might swing by after your run" yum yum yum!!!

    Yay! No Walmart! No cooking!
    What are yall eating today?
