My DH brings home stuff all the time... 'Look at the yummy doughnut I got you! or I got you the cookie you like', etc... I finally told him I am not eating those so don't bring them home 'for me'. He knows if I don't eat them, he can. Double edged sword - he needs them even less than I do!
We were driving all day so I had my usual Greek yogurt and granola for breakfast and half a sandwich (avocado BLT w/o the Tomato). For dinner the hotel had make it yourself street tacos with carnitas type pork. They were actually so good. We did get an individual pecan pie at a favorite bakery we stopped at, the share half of it (so each had a quarter). I consider that success! Tomorrow we have a 6 hour drive but I am hoping to get in a good walk/run with Hobbes before we head out.
It is cold here, in the mid 20's, so hopefully I have the right clothes with me to run because it will be similar weather in Boise!

night time binging - oh my speaking my language now. Very thought-provoking read @7lenny7 For me, I think it's a terrible habit that started when I had a 3 year old and infant twins. By the end of the day when everyone was in bed and the house was quiet - I would start at one side of the kitchen and work my way around until I couldn't eat any more. That 3 year old turns 30 today. Over the years, the eat-at-night urge has grown into a monster that is harder and harder to control. I joined the "no late night snacking" challenge and it is helping. Gives me something concrete to measure and by golly I want to break this habit!

Okay. Someone give me hope. Are you doing better today?

I've had 2 donuts. I wont be hungry at lunch, but do have a protein shake. I could also have a salad and save the shake for afternoon.

Or i could run at lunch and have the shake... Hmm sounds good. We'll see if i can work that in.

I didn't have a great night last night but it was less bad than the day before. Forward progress right?

No breakfast today because I took my Synthroid too late to eat before heading to work. Today is the last stupid-busy Thursday as the kids swimming lessons end tonight. Night bingeing is going to be my struggle again today. Lunch is usually okay, but it's at 11:30 and then I won't eat again until 7 or so (because I run right after swimming). I have some oatmeal in my purse I think. Maybe a snack right before we leave work at 4.

@Elise4270 - I am having a good day, even with a 6 hour drive today. Got up early, had my running clothes laid out so no excuses. Had a protein bar and a cup of coffee and headed out in the cold! Hobbes and I had a blast running in the cold. The clock in the room was wrong so I wasn’t going to run far but when I realized it was an hour earlier we continued on for another mile. DH had gone to Starbucks and brought me oatmeal and a latte. I had a tangerine that I brought from home off our tree for a snack So far So good!

Late night snacking has never really been a problem for me - I don’t usually have anything after dinner. Sometimes I will make myself a decaf flavored coffee and that is enough. I do have to watch my snacking in the afternoons especially if I don’t eat enough or enough protein for breakfast or lunch.

Today seemed to balance out in the end.

    Aformentioned donuts.
Skipped lunch to work on a project at work.
Ravenous after work, no way i want to run "starving" on and empty stomach. So i grabbed a Sonic burger.
3 carrots with tzatziki sauce, and a cup or so of broccoli and cauliflower with the cheese sauce from sonic. No idea what it should have been for but once i saw it i knew i had to eat it.

Least I has some veggies today. The on the couch rule seemed to get my attention.

So tired. Not enough hours motivation in the day. Hang tough everyone!

Yesterday was a fail, but I knew that going in. It was my son's high school soccer team banquet and they had a fajita bar from a local taqueria. I feasted! I did skip the tortillas though, and at them like a salad, heavy on the barbacoa. The refried beans were amazing as well. And then dessert. Homemade churros. OMG! I ended up eating three.

Today DW is taking me to get a haircut, then we're going shopping, eating and drinking. Not over doing it will be a challenge.

I'm off to a good start again today. (Yay me).

Coffee. Eggs with ricotta. Dh offered to take me out breakfast, but Ii remind him of the restroom emergency I had after eating such a heavy meal last time.

We need to shop. But i also need to get out for a short run today.

LOL - hubs does all the shopping and cooking.

I think the DQS isn't going to work for me. I really like how aware it made me of the quality of what I'm eating - but I need something more concrete to aim for. Maybe if I understood it better I'd know what kind of # to achieve. I'm terrible at tracking everything in order to count calories, but I just need to buckle down and stick to it. One of the things I liked about cutting out carbs is that I didn't have to write anything down. The weight came off - but it's just not realistic for me on an on-going basis. Or, maybe I'm just making excuses.

I've been doing really well not snacking at night - until two nights ago when I had some stress and at 10:30 at night, on my way home, stopped at Burger King. No joke. Then last night, we went to a dinner meeting that had about 1/2 as much food as necessary, so after we left (at 8 pm), we stopped at a restaurant and had dinner! I woke up feeling terrible - achy, swollen. Planning on a 5 mile run this afternoon so by then I should be good. But nevertheless, I need to get a grip.

Sunday. The day of weekly meal planning.

    Any plans?

Me? Uhhh. There's stuff in the fridge I'm hoping dd will cook for me. Salmon, turkey... (Yes. I have a problem. Not sure how change that).

I do have plenty of raw veggies for snacks.

How about i fix a nice soup? I think i can do that. Dh seems to be sick. So the soup may be a good choice to start with.

After a challenging weekend, today is a new start.

I'm not looking forward to stepping on the scale Friday after my cast comes off but perhaps with a known number I'll be stronger resisting night eating

Well we are back and my weight is up... again. I thought I was doing well eating on this trip but two days of driving and sitting were not helpful. I am hoping the addition now is travel bloat and will go away now that we are home and back to eating normally. I am really trying to not be discouraged but it is killing me to see my weight creeping back up after working so hard to get it down and keep it down. I see the nutritionist on Thursday so maybe she will have some insight and I should know hopefully if I am able to run and if not for how long.

I need to grocery shop but have too many appointments today so it will have to wait until tomorrow. I do have chicken and frozen veggies so will make something in the IP or oven with the chicken for dinner. Lunch I will be at the gym so will likely have a protein bas or some graham crackers and PB or both.

@elise4270 - hope your DH is feeling better and that he doesn't give it to you. I want to make soup but it is too hot here to really want soup. Maybe in a week when the winds are supposed to be gone and temps go back to something more fall like.

I haven't decided if I should step on the scale or not tomorrow. Haven't eaten "regular" meals in a while (big breakfast and big dinner) plus ran a 5k + 13.1, walked around Vegas, Red Rock Canyon, and Death Valley over a few days.

    Could go either way. LOL

Haha! @RunsOnEspresso ! Brave the scale!
I'm off track. And it not even driven by self loathing or depression. I just wanna eat crap food.

Yesterday i skipped lunch (and breakfast that i never have). So after work i "earned" a nasty double meat cheeseburger and tots from sonic. Fine. All my calories and so late in the day I'd have been fine, but dh bought pie. I'm not sure how I woke up this morning without a trunk and a trumpet, or a curly tail and an oink.

So... Now i need to run 9.45 miles to undo yesterday! Haha!

    Today plan?
Coffee so far. I'm still so full from yesterday so I'm toying with skipping lunch again. If i can avoid too much of an evening binge, i might undo some of yesterday's damage. I have snack veggies and dh made chicken thighs in the ip last night.

I think im still in a food coma. All these carbs and I'm just rumdum.

Two days doing good, four days not doing so good.

Today I'm at home with a cough, sore throat and stuffy nose so hopefully that will curb my appetite.

I had a late breakfast of avocado toast and coffee. I found a half dozen avocados in the fridge that have been there at least a week, but they're still good. I have to eat them up quick because I just bought 8 more and they'll be ripe soon.

What can I do with avocado other than guacamole or avocado toast? I think I might mix in some sliced hard boiled eggs next time and put that on toast.

We finally got some more soy sauce so I can make my pb2 Thai sauce for my Thai chicken wraps. Always a favorite when I want to eat a lot of volume but not a lot of calories.

@7lenny7 I usually eat sliced avocado with various veggies and fresh mozzarella cheese, maybe some castelvetrano olives.

I have a coworker that uses it with tuna or canned salmon for a mayo substitute. Its not bad, once you get use to it.

    shanaber Posts: 6,423 Member
@7lenny7 - can you post your Thai chicken wrap recipe? It sounds like something I could make that my DH would also eat, maybe...
As far as avocados are concerned, I like them just plain or with a drizzle of oil and vinegar, add a bit of tuna or other protein on top. You can also add them to a smoothie but that has always seemed wasteful because you really don't get to enjoy them that way.

@elise4270 - the tots at Sonic sound so tempting! I honestly don't know how you can skip meals I get so ravenously hungry to the point of getting a headache and/or stomach cramps. I took carrots, hummus and mini Perfect bars in the car on our trip so I would always have something I could eat.

We are going to Costco today and I need to go to the grocery store. Hoping DH will go with me to both so I don't have to worry about the driving. Right now I need to get my butt to the gym though. I know I will feel better if I go.

Avocado and tuna (and hard boiled eggs) sounds great! I'm definitely going to try that with Milwaukee Iron, my favorite seasoning from The Spice House.

Here's the recipe I use for Thai peanut sauce. I've never made this entire recipe, just the sauce. I usually make a quadruple batch and store it in a rinsed out lime juice bottle.

What I do is make a wrap with broccoli slaw, chicken (usually precooked frozen from Tyson) with this sauce drizzled on it. With the 90 or 100 calorie wrap from Aldi I think my wraps are about 230 calories and 2 fill me up.

@shanaber I'm good at skipping meals. When i get these carbs out of my system and get my brain off them, i just eat because i know its time.

I did give in to lunch errands and almonds and a coconut water. So i had something. Figure i might not have the will power after work. And today is rather nice. I wanted to run outside but have no shorts. Im hoping for the off chance there is a pair of tri shorts in my trunk. Otherwise, its back on the 'mill.

I read a scenario about a guy that only allowed himself to eat in a 4-Hour window. I thought i might want to do something like that. But eh. I'm not sure.

I'm doing better today. No more crap.

ETA correct typos. I have a ringing in my ear. It's distractingly loud today and cant type. I'm hoping its mearly sinus congestion.

I have been doing great until 5 pm.

Doctor's office called and said they want to see me right away so I'm assuming there's something to see on the x-ray. Either that or they just like making me worry.

    Sigh.

Homemade pho tonight. Along with take out deep fried wontons.

I don't think my husband knows what vegetables are.

@7lenny7 - I am going to try that wrap! It sounds delicious. I might even try the marinade and grill the chicken to put in the wraps....

@elise4270 - I don't use mayo anymore on my sandwiches, just avocado. On our trip this weekend I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich at a fast food place and didn't realize it had mayo on it I rarely eat fast food and didn't even think about it. I couldn't eat it... I took off the bottom bun and tried eating it with just the top until I realized they put mayo on the top bun too! After not eating mayo for years now I couldn't stand the way it tasted which really surprised me. Used to be I couldn't eat a turkey sandwich w/o it.

I am having sinus issues too but for us it is all related to the winds and dust. Fortunately it is finally dying down especially good for the fire fighters!

I have never heard of mayo on a grilled cheese. I like mayo on fries. But mustard has always been my condiment, tangy and no calories.

I did add avocado to it because of our discussion. Sharp cheese slice, avocado and cheese. 'Twas good.

The only bread i like any more is this Daves power seed, thin sliced of course to moderate calories. Dd doesn't like it, said it has too much stuff in it.

@shanaber dispite the cold snap here, allergies are still bothersome. It seems to stay so windy here, blowing everything up always. I sympathize with rhe fire issues. Allergies and devastation. We'll have grass fires in the dry part of the summer. But luckily nothing that gets out of control.

I do not have a food plan today. I have almonds in the car. I wanted to get up and go do weights, but again as usual, thr alarm went off and i said "i dont wanna go". So... Maybe i can salvage this day and consider going at lunch or after work. A lunch run is also still on the table. If i get going, i can have time for starbucks breakfast so I'll be able to have a lighter lunch.

I need to make a plan or a schedule. I need to get away from evening couch laziness.

I like the Daves bread too. We get 21 seed I think it is but same idea. My DH surprised me and actually likes it too, even asked me to get it again.

I bought more avocados at Costco. Now if they would just get ripe!

I think I only got up off the couch twice last night; once to switch out laundry and once to take the dog out... well 3 times - once to go to bed

@shanaber I have to ask for any sandwich or burger to not have plain mayo. I can't stand the taste. If it's like chipotle "aioli" (fancy word for mayo) I can deal with it.

I'm going to try a new tactic for late night eating. If I feel like eating anything after supper I'm going to grab this roll above my belt and think about whether I really need it or not.

Good luck with that. I tried doing that with my arm fat. I only managed to bruise myself inviting dh to accuse me of rough sex outside of the marriage. Haha! Sooo, if she's the jealous type migh make sure she see you doing it.

It took me a while to convince him its just me being fatty fat fat neurotic. And i asked for liposuction. He said "no". So i asked for a boob reduction, also got a "no". Haha! Sheesh, spouses.

ETA to be fair to DH, hes had a few bad relationship's.
