I haven't heard anything this storm. I have a friend who checks on the house so she would have let me know if we'd had any damage. She used to take care of the cats when we were away. Now that they're gone, she waters the plants and makes sure the heat is working. I talked to her after the second storm. Everyone had lost power with that one but the house was fine. The third storm was just rain. I'm thinking they may have gotten more rain that snow thi time too.
Surprisingly, I'm on the lap top. I guess it' erratic. I hope it lasts until I get back home. I have a repairs shop I use up there. I don't know anyone who works on computers here and I'd rather not buy a new one while I'm away. I mostly do emails and FB so This one suits my needs as long as it works.

I had a terribly stressful week with work. Didn't feel much like a birthday week. Maybe I can enjoy the weekend a little! Definitely careening out of control on the calories.

today is DH's first visit with his southern primary care doctor. We've waited about 2 months for the appointment. I'm expecting this to just be a meet and greet. Since DH has a number of chronic condition, it made sense to have a local doctor to follow any problems that come up when we're here winters. The Wellness Center helped picking him out and getting the appointment. I hope we like him. Next week is a follow up with the ENT who's been trying to figure out what causes DH's dizzy spells. WE went to him because it may be inner ear related,

Helene - after all that careful thought, I do hope that doc is a winner!

A NS commercial played while we were eating yesterday and I commented to DH that the "28 day plan" they were hard selling doesn't have 28 days of food. He went on a tirade about false advertising! Even an "outsider" thinks that's wrong!

Do hot cross buns have some sort of connection to Easter? I was standing at the deli at the grocery store waiting for them to dig some of DH's favorite cookies out of the freezer (no clue they were frozen but I guess that's not surprising) and FOUR different people came up to ask about hot cross buns!

Hot Cross Buns are Easter related, but I don’t recall the story. May have to google it later.

DH hurt his knee yesterday and is now hobbling around on crutches. He was pretty uncomfortable during the night and this morning said he was ready to see a doctor so I called the ortho practice that treated my ankle. My doctor was in surgery all day, but another of their doctors was able to see him this morning. The diagnosis is an inflamed patellar tendon, which is the tendon that runs down the shin below the knee. Treatment is a steroid pack and PT, so not too difficult to heal up, hopefully. Of course, he’s being pretty pitiful and helpless in the meantime. The doctor said he could discard the crutches whenever he feels he can bear weight on it, and suggested that shouldn’t take more than a couple of days. I certainly hope so since he isn’t able to carry anything while he’s on crutches. I truly don’t mind helping him, but the poor pitiful me act is a little annoying. This morning he told me that he was really depressed about this injury. I didn’t say anything, but my thought was that if this is all it takes to depress him, he’s really in a fragile state. Of course, this was before he had seen the doctor and he was assuming he was going to require immediate surgery. The earliest PT appointment we could get for him is a week from today, but they did put him on a cancellation list, so hopefully something will open up sooner.

Pam - I'm sorry your DH is hurting but of course I've seen the male poor pitiful act. DH here is debating whether he can go fishing this weekend because his heel hurts. I'm thinking seriously???

Maybe he plans to step on the fish to finish it off after he reels it in. LOL

The doctor is definitely a keeper. He and his assistant were very nice and thorough. He said he has a lot of winter visitor patients so he calls this a seasonal check up. I told him I called it a meet and greet which he thought was funny. He told DH to bring copies of any tests he gets during the year so he has the info. He doesn't believed in ordering unnecessary tests so he's fine reviewing their results. He'll also write out prescriptions if DH run out anything during our stay here.

He take appointments a year in advance so DH booked a visit for next January. He also gave him a referral to a cardiologist. That practice was in the next building so we stopped there and DH got an appointment for mid April. We figured we'd have to wait until next winter to get in seeing how it took 6 week to get the primary care appointment. This worked out great. Now he can tell his cardiologist that he followed her suggestion to have someone in local familiar with his case while we're in Fl. I liked the primary care doctor enough that I'd use him myself if I feel the need to have someone local.

Pam, sorry about your husband's injury and I'm glad it's not more serious. It's amazing how many men are whiners about pain. I have to say my DH is the exception. He was an ideal patient through heart attack and two surgeries with no complaints except when he sneezed. Cutting through the sternum caused pain from sneezing for about 12 weeks. He did all the rehab without complaining as well. I couldn't have asked for anyone better than him.

Helene, it’s great that you’ve found doctors you like. That can be quite a challenge, I’ve found.

DH is doing a bit better this morning and seems to be in a better mood. The doctor seemed to think he wouldn’t need the crutches for more than a day or two after starting the steroid pack, so hopefully he can give them up tomorrow or the next day. He started the steroid pack today so hopefully he will improve quickly from that.

    Pam - here's hoping!!

Helene - that's great that you found doctors you like. I'd love to have a decent primary care doctor.

We We have been lucky in FL and on the Cape. We have great primary care doctors both places. I don't recall if I mentioned that DH has been having a balance problem. He gets dizzy when he looks up or down. He found an ENT doctor that we like. He had a bunch of tests to see if it's a form of vertigo. We go back next week for results. The new primary care physician thinks it may be related to blood pressure but felt ruling vertigo out was the way to go. it

Yesterday was the first day of fishing season in Baltimore. DH brought home two trout and he and the cats had their fill of trout! (I can't bring myself to eat them. I'm not a vegetarian but the thought that just hours before they were happily swimming around....)

This morning they all got their favorite canned food~ (the cats not DH)

I'm off to Gettysburg to have lunch with my dad and two of my siblings. I'm still working my way through the Alan Carpenter books in my van so I'll even enjoy the drive!

    Happy Easter everyone!

I haven't watched a one of the live musical "events" that have been on tv in the last couple years. But I did DVR Jesus Christ Superstar yesterday. A lot of memories tied up in that album for me. I haven't watched it yet but I accidentally stumbled on the closing number as I was checking to see if it would be ending on time. Oh, my. What a voice! I immediately had to google "Brandon Victor Dixon". Apparently he took over for Leslie Odom as Aaron Burr in Hamilton and I can really hear it!

I have it taped for when I get home. Thanks for the background on to Dixon. What character does he play in JCS?

    Judas

But the breakout performer was undoubtedly Hamilton star Brandon Victor Dixon as Judas, who not only electrified the stage with his range, but won extra fans by breaking out the now-iconic Wakanda Forever salute from Black Panther during the show's closing credits.
