I just got home from a fun birthday luncheon for one of my friends and now I need to pack for a quick trip down to Houston to visit my new niece. Here’s a picture of the lemon raspberry cake I made for her.

That cake is amazing. And I'll bet it's delicious too.
My cable system is doing Watchathon week. I'm binging on Outlander which I never watched before. I've watched 8 episodes since last night. That's half of season One. I'm hoping to finish it this week before the free week ends. I don't get any Premium channels on my account. I rarely miss it except when I hit a good series like that. Bosch just started up again on amazon Prime. I watched a couple of episodes over the weekend with my sister. I have a subscription so I can do that at my leisure.

Pam - that cake looks just amazing!

Helene - when we got Comcast here last they couldn't figure out how to hook up HBO or Showtime and I've found that I've lived without okay! I bought the first season of Bosch. LOVE the books. But so far haven't been able to get into it on the tablet.

Pam--That cake is absolutely amazing! You have a great talent.

Helen--I often watch series on Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. Sometimes, the series get yanked before I finish.

Maryanne--I haven't seen Survivor in years. For some reason, I lost interest in it.

"Drop in temperatures; back down to freezing." Why do I watch the news and weather? Depressing! Momma Nature needs to get back on her meds.

I've worked every day this week except Monday when school was closed because of flooding.

I don't have any premium channels in FL so I'm taking advantage of watching some for free this week. I have them on the Cape but I'm thinking of getting rid of them because of the cost. It took me a couple of episodes to get into Bosch. I think it's because they combined parts of a few books into the series. It make sense because police don't work on a single case at a time like they do in books. Once I got a few episodes in, I found I really enjoyed the series.
I know what you mean about this season's Survivor. I can't keep the young blonde straight. They have no personality traits to set themselves apart. The men have been much more interesting so far.

Jessicat is in the hospital. She was having trouble walking last night so I took her to the ER. They were really busy so we had to wait a long time. She was sitting in her carrier eating treats so I knew I had to give her a chance. They gave her pain meds overnight and did tests. The message is "nothing remarkable". They had instructions not to plan on transferring anyone to internal medicine this morning but I pushed it with lines like "not even their own patients of two years?". Eventually, probably to shut me up, they had me fill out the transfer paperwork. We'll see.

Helene - for some reason I think I thought Bosch would be a complete story each episode not one big long story.

Very sad news. I let Jessicat go today. When I got home yesterday she was stumbling badly and trembling. Added to what I already thought was a straggly appearance for the last few weeks I got scared and took her to the ER. They gave her injectable pain meds, did some tests overnight and transferred her to AVIM this morning. The internist examined her and thought she was seeing neurological symptoms so they had the neurologist do a consult. I met with the internist mid afternoon. A very lovely lady, she couldn't have been sweeter or more helpful. When they put their heads together their best guess was that she's out of remission and the lymphoma has spread along her spine and into her head. OF course to verify that would be an MRI and I forget what else. They also heard a heart murmur for the first time. The best plan they could offer was to increase her steroids (which they were somewhat reluctant to do with a cardiology consult), send her home for the weekend and consult with Dr. Calo next week. With the possibility of trying for a third remission. I asked if she'd be able to walk this weekend and she said they just didn't know. I spent a little time with her and although her spirit was still there the body was having major issues. She's pull herself across the floor a few feet and rest. After taking it all in I decided to let her go. A hard choice but I just wasn't hearing much hope and at the same time watching her struggle. It was very peaceful.

Jessicat came from my BIL's in the spring of 2002. We'll miss her! (Except for INdy who won't miss her at all)

I was expecting a continuing series but I didn't expect the mash up of stories. Michael Connolly is involved so I think he assures the quality of the series. Try it again and go a few episodes into it. I took me a few episodes s to get hooked. I love Titus Wellever as Bosch. As opposd to Tom Cruise as Reacher. That casting missed by a mile.
Good luck with Jessicat. Let us know what happens.

Maryanne, I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m sure Jessica is cavorting in heaven now and is at peace, and I hope you feel the same peace in knowing you took such wonderful care of her and didn’t allow her to struggle any longer.

I really miss her but I don't think I made the wrong decision.

She was 16 years old. She was one of two kittens that came from DH's brother's house in PA. The other one was WILD! I assumed we'd have to keep that one. She was at the vet, not up for adoption, just being vetted. Someone fell in love with her and adopted her so we got to keep Jessicat! She was pretty crotchety but the last few years, after Willie died, she took over the spot right next to me on the couch.

(Tuffy has already claimed that spot.)

I had a good crying jag and then settled in to check off some chores.

One puzzlement - I have a thank you card sitting here I mean to send to someone. What someone hopefully will come back to me!

Maryanne, I'm so sorry about Jessicat. You did the right thing for her even though it was hard. I know what you mean about Indy not missing her. Cheyenne was like that when Cagney died. You were blessed to have her for so many years and I'll bet she appreciated it even if she didn't always show it.

Maryanne--I am so sorry about Jessicat. I remember making a similar decision. It is so hard even when you know it is likely the best decision. You had great years together!

I've been recovering from a small fall I took the other day. I was going upstairs to bed and I fell as I went up the second from the top step. Fortunately I fell up the stairs and not down the stairs. It was my own fault because I had some pill bottles in my hand and wasn't holding on to the railing. I landed really hard on my left knee cap. DH had already gone to bed and didn't hear me fall. I ended up butt scooting down the landing to a point where I hold the railing on one side and the window sill to get myself back on my feet. I took some ibuprofen and iced the knee several times a day. I ended up with a faint bruise and it's not tender to the touch. It is painful if I bend the knee to get up from a sitting position or rolling over in bed. I was pretty lucky so no complaints and it was totally my fault for not using the railing. I won't make that mistake again. It's been 5 days and I can see some progress every day so time should take care of the injury.

We finally finished up the medical appointments although I'll probably see the chiropractor just before we start the drive home. We have about 10 days before we start the trip north.

I think Donathan is a very naive person. I think he aid in the beginning that he was from a very small town in Alabama or Arkansas. I'll bet the name is a combination of 2 names like maybe his mom and dad.

Ooh, Donna and Jonathan? You could be right! I was thinking of parents who couldn't decide between Donald and Jonathon.

Helene--So sorry about the fall. You are fortunate that you did not hurt yourself worse. Accidents seem to happen when we least expect them.

This has been a very busy week as I've worked every day. Obviously, today was a day of rest as I will have more of the same next week but May will be the end of it for this school year unless asked to work the first week of June.

We finally decided we're leaving here on Thursday. We'll stop at my sister's house that night. She's only 3 hours away so it doesn't matter if we get a late start. We'll drive up to GA or southern SC on Friday. My brother is in Myrtle Beach, SC. that would probably be a 12 hour drive if we went directly to his house from my sister's. Neither of us relish such a long drive. I'd like to drive 6-7 hours and arrive at his house the following afternoon. My other sister lives in the same area so we' spend several days visiting both of them. We'll figure out when we'll be leaving and where else we stop for the remaining travel. We'd like to be home around May 16 or so.

We're looking online to order a new dishwasher. I thought this was sort of amusing:

Additional charges will be added for freight services if one of the below apply:
You live on an island with access or limited access via bridges.

Maryanne--What does an island have to do with it as long as there is access?

Jean - excellent question! Do the UPS/Fed Ex's of the world charge more to deliver to an island by bridge???? Inquiring minds want to know LOL!!!!
