I wonder sometimes what they think.

The other day Sammy was waiting for his doorman (me) to open the flap to let him out on the (enclosed) cat porch. Suddenly Tuffy came barrelling up the stairs leading to the flap and they were head to head. I started wondering how Sammy identifies Tuffy in his mind. Does he think? As we would? Does he give each of the other cats some kind of name (in cat language)? Or just get a picture or a sense or a smell in his mind? Or does his mind just see Tuffy and fire up the flight response?

We were all over Southern England. I had put red dots on a map to show all the places we were but the file won't upload.

These critters aren't worried about any superstition, etc. associated with Stonehenge:

I had a cardiology appointment yesterday. I need to have an Echo, so I am awaiting insurance approval before it can be scheduled.

Have you had an echo before? DH has had several. It's an easy procedure but hi first one led to getting stents and one a year later led to bypass surgery. He had one just before we headed south. We didn't hear anything from the cardiologist about it o we figured it came out good with no problems. He see her in June so we should hear the details at that visit. He had just finished cardio rehab and I think she jut wanted the test to compare with one he had before rehab. I hope your test goes well.

NS is the TSV on QVC today. I don't have the sound turned on so I couldn't hear him so it was funny to see Rick Domeier on the little video that comes up excitedly waving his arms around and silently extolling the virtues of NS. Like he would ever eat NS if they weren't paying him.

Jean - that's an amazing photo! Good luck on the test.

Helene---I've had an Echo. It was in "acceptable" range despite a small problem with the mitral valve that wasn't affecting me much at that time. I think there was a small mitral regurgitation. That was two years ago, so it was time for another one.

Maryanne--I never expected to see animals grazing near the stones. I have some fabulous pics despite having to take them quickly without much time to "compose" them. This is not one of the best pics of me.

The one taken of me at the changing of the guard is better but this is in keeping with the Stonehenge theme.

Jean, I haven’t seen Stonehenge yet but your pictures make me want to go! I really enjoyed seeing the changing of the guards when we were there several years ago. I was surprised by how long that ceremony took, but it was a beautiful, warm spring day so I didn’t mind.

The cathedrals in England are absolutely amazing. Despite the age of some, they are amazing well maintained. The one at Canterbury is breathtaking with its exterior and interior designs. It is the one in which the Archbishop Thomas Beckett was killed, thus beginning the pilgrimages to Canterbury and then Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales."

Jean - you look happy on your adventure - love the picture! And appropriately wind blown for Stonehenge.

Our meals weren't that low cal this weekend. Saturday I made barbecue with my mom's recipe. I have so few of her recipes. She, like me, wasn't much of a cook (but unlike me, boy could she bake!)

Today I take Jack to the vet, mostly because he's due for a rabies vaccination. I'm sure the vet is going to be curious to see what he looks like 3 months post surgery. Then I have an appointment to drop off my car at the garage for service tomorrow. I think this is something new. An appointment for a drop off? Isn't that a contradiction in terms?

I asked Sharon if she could feed tomorrow. My van is of an age that they almost always want it two days. I figure if I drop off this afternoon I should have it back by Wednesday which I need because I have a doctor's appointment on Thursday (routine).

So a lot of running around today. Hopefully home all day tomorrow to get some work done. I did do a little yesterday. I spent Friday and Saturday working on my outlines for our annual client seminar.

Maryanne--Sounds like a very busy day. Midnight got his rabies vaccination during his "vacation" while I was gone. I always have to make an appointment at the dealership for service.

I was thinking yesterday of the great items NS used to have when I first started. But NS isn't alone, some great items in the supermarket have also disappeared. I guess my tastes are not similar to others to justify keeping the items stocked. Then there are two restaurant chains that have changed their menus so much that I don't even consider them now. I would love to have the NS scones again.

I showed up for my "drop off appointment" and the service rep was totally confused. He didn't know they were doing such things.

Usually when I do a drop off the day before a service appointment, I just show up, fill out a few questions on an envelope in which I put my keys and stick in a slot.

There are many great NS foods that are completely gone. Also some JC foods. I LOVED their honey mustard pretzels and I don't even like mustard. You're right that there are also many supermarket foods that are gone. E.g my beloved Healthy Ones maple ham and my Smart Ones breakfasts of pancakes or french toast.

What doesn't seem to be happening is replacements. Things just disappear. The most recent ones at our stores are the fresh vegetables in bags to steam. Giant has just disappeared them and Weis has replaced with their own brand which are awful.

I actually emailed Mann's to express my dismay and ask why there is no "where can I buy" button on their web site. But not response.

Record high of 89 two or three years ago; snow yesterday along with flooding from the downpours before the snow.

Everyone's weather has been crazy. We've had hot and dry for months and I've loved every minute. On Sunday, we drove home from my sister's home on Lake Okeechobee. Severe storms swept through the area. On about a 20 miles stretch, we hit tropical downpours. At least it was daylight because I could hardly see the road. Traffic was light and I was able to pull into a store parking lot for a few minutes to wait out the heaviest rain. It didn't take long and a few miles down the road, the storm had already passed through. It was still preferable to snow.

I can't stand to look at the photos of all the suffering polar bears.

I wish I didn't feel so helpless to stop all this. I'd like to see some "Profiles in Courage" from Congress but all I see is kowtowing to the rich donors. I read an article the other day about the possibility we could eventually be ruled by a handful of billionaires and thought "aren't we already?"

I can send my meager few dollars off to support candidates I believe in but it feels like a drop in the bucket.
