Maryanne--I think anyone posting that they had frozen food for sale would have figured that out or restricted it to the town in which she lived.

Jean - that is SO true! I wonder whose BMI is worse - mine or Tuffy's.

Remember how we complained about the NS Meat Loaf? Yesterday, I found a WalMart Great Value meat loaf and potatoes in the freezer section. I had it today; it is great! Calories are acceptable. I'll be buying it again.

I have really been pleasantly surprised by how good most of the NS frozen items are. I just finished a new one tonight that was absolutely restaurant quality. I was never a fan of their shelf stable meat loaf, but the frozen meatloaf sandwich is really good. I haven’t found many frozen breakfast items that I enjoy, aside from the cinnamon roll, but most of the lunches and dinners I order are from the frozen menu. And the lemon zest cake from the frozen snacks menu is delicious!i don’t plan to continue on NS since I’ve now completed my commitment, but I may order some of my favorites a la carte occasionally. I still have 4-5 weeks worth of NS food so I’ll still be eating it for awhile, but I won’t be re-ordering on my current plan.

Pam--I've never tried the NS frozen items, but today's NS email has the following offer:

If I was home I'd be tempted to respond to that a la carte offer We leave SC on Sunday and arrive in NJ Monday night. We don't know how long the in laws want us to stay. Our niece is working on the family history and wants to pick DH's brain about his grandparents generation. We'd like to be home by the 18th or sooner but it depends on her needs. So I would not like a box of frozen food sitting on my porch before we get home.

Jean, is the Walmart meat loaf in gravy or tomato sauce or just plain? I like mine with ketchup so plain or tomato sauce would appeal most to me.

Helene--I think I remember it being a tomato sauce. I was surprised at how good it was.

Good to know what's good. I love the French toast at breakfast (although I could eat 2 slices!)

I wish I'd quizzed my older relatives. Now that I'm interested they are all gone, along with the information I know for a fact some of them had. What happened to that information? That's a mystery.

Keeping in mind that everyone’s taste is different, I’ll list some of my favorites of the NS frozen menu. On the breakfast list, I liked the cinnamon roll and the home style pancakes. I strongly disliked the turkey sausage omelette and the strawberry crepe. The waffles were ok, but pretty flavorless, IMO.

For lunch, I liked all of the melts, and really enjoy the hamburger and grilled cheese sandwiches. However, their size was a bit of a shock, since they are literally the size of a slider that is typically served at Chilis, etc., except there you’d get 3-4 to an order.

On the dinner menu, I really liked the meatloaf sandwich (though once again, it’s small), the chicken enchilada, the black bean polenta enchilada, all of the pizzas, the chicken Parmesan, and the sweet and sour chicken. My favorites have been the stuffed chicken breasts, which currently come in 3 versions.

The snacks offer a lot of variety. I really liked the lemon zest cake, the ice cream sandwiches, the chocolate cake, and the red velvet cake was good.

So, for what it’s worth, those are my recommendations, if anyone is considering an a la carte order.

That should be grilled chicken sandwich on the lunch items. Autocorrect made it grilled cheese for some reason.

Wishful thinking? Guess auto correct can't wishfully think. LOL!

Smart Ones makes a burger that's the size of a slider but it's really good.

I forgot to add the cinnamon coffee cake, which is listed as a snack but I eat it for breakfast. The stats are the same as the breakfast items, and it seems like more of a breakfast food to me. It’s really good!

The frozen NS items sound good but I think I'll restrict my frozen food item buying from WalMart which has a great selection of various brands plus house brands in a wide variety of entrees. Most have acceptable calories as long as you restrict yourself to one serving.

I have been very good at just having one Lessman chocolate square with each meal for cholesterol. These are very good and do not trigger an urge to eat more like the NS dessert items did or any chocolate.

Jean, I'm assuming that you're not on a statin drug for cholesterol. I wonder how the chocolate would work in someone already on the drug.
Today i our last, full day in SC. We start the first part of the drive home tomorrow. We'll drive as far as southern VA. On Monday, will be at BIL's house in NJ for a couple of day.

Helene--I am on a very low dose of a statin-10mg. Have a safe drive home.

Today, it hit 90 degrees so I pulled out some crop pants I bought on sale during the winter. The sale was so good that I bought 3 pair. They were a little snug at the time. The good news is that they were not snug today but just right.

That's wonderful news about the crop pants. I need to shop for home myself when I get home. I'm on 40mg of statin so I wouldn't feel safe with the chocolate without talking to my doctor first.

I had to go look at my bottle. I take 20 mg of simvastatin (zocor).

We may have some bad storms tonight so I took down the birdfeeders and we closed off the cat porch.

I hope we don't ride into the storm. We're stopping around Petersburg VA tonight. Maybe we'll be at the hotel before the storms arrive. I hate long ride through rainy weather. I thin it was around 90 degree here yesterday. We stayed inside with the AC a lot of the day because it was too hot to be outside.

It is currently sunny but storms are expected by 5pm. It is expected to reach 90 again today.

I weighed myself to day for the first time in weeks. I actually weigh less than I did when I last weighed. If I could lose 5 more pounds, I would weigh the least I have weighed in over 20 years. Easier said than done since I'm not big on exercising. I need to get motivated on that again.

I've spent Sunday relaxing and streaming Bosch from Amazon Prime. I don't know why I haven't watched this before because it is amazingly good. I'm on Season Two.

Bosch is my favorite Amazon series. I started the new season in FL. I'LL finish it when I get home. I finished the new Doc Martin while I was in SC. My brother subscribes to Acorn which is all British shows.

It is a beautiful sunny day. I should be out trimming the shrubbery. I hate this job. Procrastination is setting in.
