the pa who worked on me injected lidocaine into my wrist but i don't think it did much.

dh just helped me wash my hair. never thought i'd see the day. then he challenged me to take off my tshirt while he was here to help. i didn't think that would be a problem as i wear very large tshirts and i has=d no problem,

Maryanne--No caps are necessary; we are just happy to have you posting with us. It isn't until we injure part of our hand or wrist that we realize how much we use it and how accommodations have to be made. DH will definitely be of help. Now, let's hope meal prep by him is in the works.

Pam--With propopol, you are able to respond to requests, etc. but you have zero memory of it or what is done. Ketamine is also being used to treat depression. One of the neat things about this forum is when something is mentioned, I have to research it.

Helene--I've driven in Baltimore a couple of times. It is about six or seven hours from me.

I went to the city today to get my nails done and get some groceries. I also bought flowers for my parents' graves before the best arrangements are gone.

We're going to CT tomorrow for my dental appointment. I'd started on an implant last fall but developed an abscess before it started. I had to tooth extracted but had wait several month for my gum to heal before work could start on the implant. I left for FL before the healing was done so we're picking up where we left off. We'll stop at the cemetery while we're down there and put flowers on the grave.

Maryanne, lower case i fine. I will confess though I took pa as your dad rather than PA when I first read it. I thought it strange your dad would be treating your wrist. That prompted a second reading and light dawned. LOL

Maryanne--I needed a laugh. "Is he one of us?"

Helene--I hope the dental appointment goes well.

I always mark my appointments down but when I looked at the calendar, I couldn't find the orthopedic appointment. I thought I remembered but since it is an hour and a half away in another state, I decided I had better call and verify the appointment. My memory is better than I thought, down to the specific hour. I guess that is a positive for the day.

That's impressive that you remembered the appointment. We have to dig our calendar out of a packed box for our appointment info. Besides the dentist, DH has a cardiology appointment this month. Everything else is June or July. We'll both be seeing a new Primary Care doc. Our doctor is going on maternity leave. I asked if she'd be back because we both like her a lot. She'll be back in September. I was pleased to hear that.

Helene--Keeping track of all those diverse appointments is a challenge. It is great that you will have your favored doctor returning.

    I saw this and really like it;

Maryanne--I thought that pic was adorable and a great idea.

I went to the city today to have an Echo done, as well as hair color and cut. I had lunch with a friend. I had read chain restaurants are now required to have estimated calories for each item on the menu, and this one did. I had the Simple Tilapia with a double serving of veggies as we had a late lunch and I did not plan on fixing much this evening. I decided the double serving of veggies was better than having a side salad added to the regular Tilapia and single serve of steamed veggies. I can say that as of almost 6:30pm, I am very full so I'll have something in the protein line such as a shake late tonight.

Remember the Lessman ChocoNuvo chocolate squares that are supposed to help lower cholesterol? I have faithfully had one with each meal. The odd thing is that they do not create an urge to eat more chocolate like many chocolate things do,

I had the Atkins Meat Lasagna (new recipe) this evening for dinner. It is very very good.

I worked today. The cardiology practice called while I was at work but did not leave a message. I guess I'll try calling them from work tomorrow. I had an Echo done yesterday but it isn't like them not to leave some type of message.

Maryanne, good luck with the surgery. I hope DH takes excellent care of you while you’re healing. Hopefully you won’t experience any of the complications I had.

Maryanne--Good luck with the surgery. I do hope it goes well and helps you get back into action sooner. Love the Lincoln info and what he said.

Pam--Love the letter and the corrections.

I did get my Echo results. Nothing has worsened since the last one two years ago.

Maryanne, I hope all went well with the surgery. How are you feeling today? Jean, I'm glad you got good test results. I'm not surprised that they left a vague message and asked you to call them. They have no way to know if a person live alone. A family member might retrieve the message And that would violate HIPA. Some people don't tell family or friends what's happening health wise. That shows you are going to a good practice. We did the same thing when calling about requested items from the library. If you answered, we say what we were holding. If anyone else answered, we say we were holding something for that person. Many would ask what we were holding and we'd explain it was a privacy issue. The person could call us for details. When developing the policy, we talked about what if it was a health related book or a self help book. That's illustrates why you wouldn't want to tell other what had been requested.

I just spent 50 minutes of the initial trimming of one set of bushes. I can verify it is exercise. According to the FitBit, I went from a HR of 65 to one of 115 and spent 34 minutes in the cardio zone. I still have to pick up the trimmings, and then later fine tune the trimming (or perhaps I won't fine tune!)

Helene--They just posted the detailed results on the practice's health portal. I guess they wait until they talk to the person as the summary makes sense but they also provide all the detailed readings. That type of thing motivates me to google the mystery labels.

I lost 4 pounds last week.

Wow, Jean! Four pounds in one week would be a record for me.

Maryanne, I hope you’re doing ok after your surgery. Let us know how you feel when you feel up to it.

Helene, I hope you and DH are enjoying being back home and getting all of the returning home chores out of the way. I can’t even imagine everything I would have to do to leave my house for 5-6 months at a time, but you must have it down pretty well by now.

We are having a quiet Memorial Day weekend here. It’s very hot so I don’t feel too motivated to get outside at all. I do plan to go to the movies tomorrow with my “book club” friends to see the movie “Book Club” and then we are having a happy hour afterward. One of the group will be out of town but the rest of us will be there. At this time of the year it is hard to find a date that works for all of us because of travel plans. One goes to Michigan for several months and will not be back until late October or longer and the rest of us do shorter trips throughout the summer.

Jean - glad to hear about the good test results! I've noticed drs asking permission lately to leave results. Most seem to be flummoxed by my request that they not discuss me with dh.

Way to go on the 4 lbs!

Pam - I was in a lot of pain yesterday. Finally took a pain pill and discovered they are like sleeping pills. Apparently in 2 wks I get a much smaller splint that will free up mt hand and at that point I'll need to star p/t. Better than 3 full mos. in a cast. Much of the staff at the surgery place had worked at the hospital where dh worked so it was like old home week.

    Helene - glad you're home!

Pam--I decided to limit carbs to 50g a day along with a 1200 cal goal. I know it is water loss but it was nice to see the loss.

Maryanne--I do hope your pain is less. I agree the option you chose is much better than spending 3 months in a cast.

I have all these trimmings from the hedge I need to bag. I already have two 30 gallon bags full and estimate two more bags to go. I put out three bags of trimmings from the other hedge last week.

Just came in from bagging three 30 gallon bags of trimmings. Not so easy to do in high temps so I came in to rest.

My faithful computer just notified me that I have an update for my Garmin GPS. I don't think I'm going back out right now to get it. I also think those remaining trimmings are going to wait for their TLC and bagging.

Jean, Great job on the loss. I'm sure the trimming activity helped too. Maryanne, Glad to hear the surgery went well. I think you picked the right option. Pam, I saw the movie with my book group. It was the funniest movie I've seen in years. I'm sure your group will love it. Everyone coming out of the theater was saying positive things.

    wow:

Baltimore had 343 homicides in 2017, according to the city's police department. Baltimore had a rate of 51.4 homicides per 100,000 residents in 2016, well above Chicago's 28.07 homicides per 100,000 residents and New York City's 3.9 per 100,000 residents.
