I ventured out this afternoon for a quick Target run for some frozen dinners and other necessities. I think the temp was around 103 when I got home, but that’s fairly common here in Texas during the summer. I’m not sure about the heat index, but it was probably around 105. I’d have to stay indoors the whole summer if I avoided going out due to above 100 degree temps, lol! Thank goodness for air conditioned houses, stores, and cars!!!!

I've always wondered how anyone lived in MD before a/c.

Maryanne--There is nothing like Summer to get the cleaning out motivation activated.

There are several interesting things in The Crown. For example, now when any member of the Royal Family travels, the individual now always takes an appropriate mourning outfit with them. When the King died, Elizabeth and Philip were away in Africa doing royal duties. When the plane landed, she could not leave it until they brought an appropriate black dress on board for her to change into. After that, an inclusion of appropriate mourning clothes is a necessity in travel.

Jean, you’re a decluttering pro! I don’t feel motivated to do any of that when it is so hot. Maybe in the fall after it begins to cool off I’ll take another stab at it. Hopefully I will be able to get rid of some clothes that are too big by then! I did see a small drop of the scale today, after gaining and losing the same half pound for the past week.

We spent a quiet 4th yesterday. DH had a craving for hot dogs and baked beans so he went to the store and bought everything. I joined him but limited myself to only 1 hot dog and a small serving of the beans, plus a few potato chips. I was surprised to see a drop on the scale after that meal, but pleased! I figured with all the sodium in the wiener and chips, I’d see a gain for sure.

We had a quiet 4th. We watched the Boston Pops program which end with a great firework display. Not quite as good as seeing them in person but we didn't have to deal with traffic either. I'm driving over the bridge to get a massage today. I've never tried driving over it the day after a holiday. Normally the traffic is terrible. But I'm hoping since the holiday was mid-week, it won't be so bad. I'm allowing extra time, just in case.

I had a much needed massage today. The traffic was heavier than normal for a holiday week but not a bad as when when the holiday falls close to the weekend. I allowed extra time just in case. I stopped at the market on the way back. This market has the best prices around. It's off the beaten track for me normally but it's on the way home from my massage. For an example, DH's gluten free muffins and bread are $2 less a package than my regular market.

O.K., I was bored and pushing myself with 45 min in morning and 45 in evening while watching My 600Lb Life via Hulu. I got my 5 days of exercise in with most of it in the cardio range according to my Fitbit. This is as of Thursday.

Jean, good job on the exercise! That's pretty impressive. I'm still stuck on the same weight for the last 7-8 days in spite of eating better and logging every day. Sigh! I'll stick with it though. Today is day 16 of my logging.

Helene--It is very frustrating to be stuck at the same weight. Sometimes, it just takes time. I have gone weeks without losing. My loss started again the second week of being faithful with exercise. I have a feeling that this will be a week I won't lose. I've been eating some NS foods I had around the house, so the number of carbs is higher than usual.

I had to smile at the cruise cats. Too funny!

Those cats represent me before and after any vacation.

Me, too, sadly! Despite my best intentions, I never seem to make it to the gym or walk enough to offset the vacation calories.

Good morning all! It is a beautiful sunny day. In addition to the minutes posted above, I broke over and did 30 minutes yesterday evening and 30 minute this morning.

    Helene--Congrats upon the food logging.

Maryanne--Love the memes, especially "give a cat a fish."

DH ordered me this. I can now open cat food cans (and any other can with a pop top) - it will also hold a bowl:

I can't quite figure out how this works. Can you post a photo with a can inserted? You don't have to actually open it. I'm having trouble figuring out which way the can goes in. I use a low tech method of sticking a spoon handle under the pop top so I don't break a nail.
