Jean, CSI was a good show. I think it ran about 15 seasons so you'll have lots of episodes to watch. The original cast was best but the replacements were okay too.
My laptop died last night. I'm using my phone until I can get a replacement. I hate shopping for tech products. It's as bad as car shopping.

Helene--CSI is like ER; ER ran for years and I liked it very much. I watch it off and on. I'm sorry about the laptop. Don't buy all the bells and whistles you don't need. Some of the new laptops are so loaded with stuff and hard drive memory that the average person would never fill it up. Do get one with a lot of RAM memory as that is what powers all the applications and online browsing, etc.

I'm not overly motivated today. I'm charging the Fitbit now. Perhaps when it gets charged, I'll do an episode of CSI while pedaling away.

A beautiful sunny day! A friend and I will be off to the city in a few minutes. We will have lunch out and she needs to follow that with some grocery shopping. I got in a half hour of exercise while watching CSI on Hulu. I'm on season one.

You have a lot of episodes to enjoy then!

Jean, if you were me, how much RAM would you buy? I mostly do email, Facebook, MFP, play Candy Crush, and watched movies. I do a spreadsheet for our taxes and do recipes in Word. That's as complicated as it gets. Maryanne, ask your DH's opinion too. My DH can turn a computer on and play Solitaire. LOL. There's no help from him.

You'll all be surprised to know my scale went down and it wasn't even Wednesday. I had to step on it twice to be sure it messing with me. And I was down 2 pounds instead of the usual 1. So I'm down 4 pounds since I started logging 26 days ago. And that makes 6 pounds since January. Yay!

Helene--If the laptop just comes with 4, have the tech upgrade it to 8. Congrats on the weight loss.

Speaking of scales, I found a funny answer to a question about a bathroom scale on Amazon:

I was alerted to the hilarious questions and answers for t he Haribo Gold Gummi Bear at Amazon. This is one example:

    Question:
Have aliens tested the bears given the warning on the packet about the gastrointestinal consequences of eating a product not of the earth?
    Answer:
It's well know fact that alien spacecrafts utilizes flatulence as it's main source of propulsion. In order to fully harness the massive amount of energy expelled, however, proper initial catalysts must be used. The sugar-free variety containing Lycasin is ideally suited for this task.

Helene - DH says 4 would be okay but if you get 8 you'll never have to worry. My work lap top did fine with 4 until we wanted to load voice recognition.

Thanks for the congrats and advice. I'll plan on shopping for 8 RAM. There's not a huge price difference between 4 and 8 and I like the idea of not having to worry about running out of memory.

Starting on Day 75 of consecutive days of logging food. Just completed 40 minutes of exercise while watching an episode of CSI.

I indulged in Prime Day. Got a pair of Bose noise cancelling headsets for $125. The last set I got a few years ago died. I paid around $250+ for that set. The ones I got today are better than the ones I got, but even these are being upgraded by Bose to the tune of $300+. It doesn't bother me as the ones I'm getting are lacking the upgrade feature as these are essentials on long distance plane flights. The reviews on the ones I got are very good.

At first I thought you needed headphones for exercise but remembered you exercise in your living room. Using them on flights makes perfect sense. Nice bargain too. I' m on day 27 of logging. I'M doing pretty good getting my water in too. That's probably because it's a log entry too.

Just stopped by the library to read emails and do some printing. I printed off info on laptops on Best Buy and amazon to compare what they have. It was too hard to do that on a small phone screen. They may be the same but I can't tell without a printed sheet to compare. I'm hoping to compare and make a decision from that. I'm looking at 2 Lenovos with 8 RAM. Both have a DVD drive which is important to me. When I looked last year, a lot of laptops had dropped that feature. Both are under $400 which seems reasonable for what I want.

Helene--The laptops for under $400 is reasonable. The optical or DVD drive is increasingly hard to find. I've had both AMD and Intel processors, and there isn't that much difference. The cheaper laptops usually have slower speeds on either processor, but that isn't a major deal when most of your work is email or online.

Prime Day has been totally frustrating for me so far. Yesterday I kept getting the dog picture telling me there was a problem with the website and today I keep getting randomly kicked off the site, if I can get in at all. I am not impressed!

I placed an order tonight with no problem. Maybe it depends on where you live. Traffic from your area might be heavier. I hope you have better luck tonight.

There wasn’t anything I particularly needed or wanted but I was curious to see what was being offered on Amazon prime day. I gave up because I kept getting kicked off the page whenever I tried to click on something to see the price or details. It would take too long trying to get back to that item, so after that happened 3 or 4 times, I gave up.

Today I have my annual well woman checkup. I like my doctor, but never look forward to this visit. At least I can report that I’ve lost some weight this year. I think I may go and donate blood afterward. Since my niece's experience in the hospital last month, I’ve been feeling guilty for not donating. I know it’s especially needed in the summer months as donations are typically down and need is up. I’ve never donated before, so I’m a bit squeamish about it, but I want to do it anyway. Without the 10 blood transfusions and 2 units of plasma, my niece would not have survived.

Pam--I hope your annual checkup goes well. It is good that you are going to donate blood as blood is badly needed at times. You will do fine. I've not been able to donate for many years but it was an easy process when I did.

My two purchases from Prime Day are scheduled to arrive tomorrow. One I am really looking forward to getting is the Bose noise cancelling headsets at half price. My previous pair died over a year ago but they served me well, especially on long distance plane flights where they did a great job of greatly reducing engine noise and for listening to music at home. They do a fabulous job of picking up all the nuances of music that often get lost with other headsets.

I’m back from my doctor’s appointment and donating blood. The doctor was just beginning my exam when her nurse stuck her head in the door to tell her she had a patient who was about to deliver at the hospital across the street. My doctor hurriedly told me it was the patient’s 4th baby and asked if I could wait half an hour and I said yes. About 10 minutes later the nurse came in again and said it was going to be a lot longer. She offered me the option of seeing one of the partners or coming back this afternoon, so I chose to see one of the partners. I actually really liked her partner and was glad to get it over with.

Then I went to the blood donation center. After going through all the introductory process and completing all of the questions I was able to donate a pint of blood. However, afterward as I was drinking some water and eating a snack, I became very light headed and was about to pass out when another donor noticed my condition and got help for me. Before I could blink, the staff had me on the floor with ice packs under my neck, on my abdomen, and under my feet, with fans blowing on me. After a few minutes on the floor they carefully got me up and moved me back to one of the recliners, then monitored me for about 30 more minutes, checking my blood pressure and pulse rate while plying me with snacks and sugary drinks. They were all very kind and assured me that this happens often. I’m sure that must be true since they responded so quickly and with a coordinated effort from about 6 people. I was able to thank the other donor who assisted me before he left. If I do it again I’ll make sure to eat just before going. I really think low blood sugar played a big role in my reaction since it was long past my usual lunch time due to the delay in the doctor’s office. I’m back home now and just finished a high protein lunch, so I’m feeling better now.

I've donated blood many times. It's not painful and it's a good thing to do. As you said, the need is especially great in the summer. A lot of regular donors are on vacation ans not around for the usual blood drives. I gave in June. I'm going to look into giving platelets soon. I have to wait 8 weeks from the whole blood donations for my rd cells to be full strength. I'd donated platelets about a decade ago but the donation center moved to far away to be practical for me. I was still working then. Our local hospital, where DH had his heart surgery, now has a platelet donation program. I'll make an appointment in August. He had a transfusion after his surgery too so I'm paying it back. Any updates on how Heather is doing?

I'm sure that not having lunch played a part. And they may have sat you up a little too soon. Usually, they have you lie on the couch for 10 minutes or so and sit you up slowly to be sure you're not dizzy. Glad you were able to get the exam in with the partner. It's such a pain to have to reschedule.
