Sounds like Cagney and Missy went through the same process.

Most of the rest of ours over the years were either lap cats, on the sofa/chair but not quite the lap cats, or I want nothing to do with humans on the furniture cats.

Is there anything Amazon doesn't sell? I had a great example yesterday of why stores are in trouble. I have a lingering cough from whatever I had over the holidays. I can't stand cough syrup. I use Robitussin cough gels. They aren't easy to find. So, being a lazy human being, before I went driving around checking stores, I checked Amazon. Not only do they have them but they have a three-pack of the generic equivalent which I didn't even know existed! I also found a 3-pack of Nasacort at a great price.

I do hope stores don't disappear though. While there are a food food items I don't mind buying online, I want to be able to pick my produce, browse the frozen food aisle, shop at the deli, etc.

This made me laugh this morning, because it is so typical of communication between DH and me!

    Love the cat graphics!!!

Amazon sells nearly everything. I just read an article about research that indicated eating 4 brazil nuts can lower cholestoral within hours and maintain that for almost a month. Then I read a blog by a noted heart doctor who said that it couldn't hurt and that he was doing it himself. Guess what I bought from Amazon?

I just finished 50 minutes on the cycle, and have lost 4 pounds this month.

If you have not tried Premier Protein shakes, they are great! 30g of protein for 160 calores, 3g of fat, 1g of sugar and 24 vitamins and minerals.

Jean - FOUR POUNDS! WAY TO GO!!! :)

The two biggest bad habits I've got to conquer (again, unfortunately) are having more than 1 or 2 mini chocolate bars a day and standing in the grocery store picking up whatever I want for breakfast, lunch, snacks, etc. instead of eating from my pantry and just buying skim milk, produce, etc. at the grocery store. I somehow need a mind switch. From indulging myself being the normal and eating healthier being the exception to the complete opposite!

Maryanne--You can do it! I think we go through periods where we deviate and do things considered not the best for us. The exercise has been the hardest, and I really have to talk myself into it but once I get started, I'm fine.

    Love the cat logic!!

We're going to a presentation at one of the wellness centers run by the area hospital organization. It's on coping with dizziness and vertigo. DH gets spells of lightheadedness and his doctor haven't been helpful. We'd like to know possible causes and coping techniques. And as long a we have to go off island, we'll do some shopping.

It was actually very informative. The presenter is a physical therapist and she works with vertigo patients. We talked to her after the session and she said DH's symptoms sound like vertigo rather than a balance issue. We got some names of primary care doctors and he'll pick one. Once he has one, he can work with the doctor to get a FL cardiologist and he can be referred for evaluation on the lightheadedness. Today was the first in a series of presentations relating to balance and dizziness so we signed up for the series. They're all free and different specialists talk about causes in their specialties that could be connected. For example, it could be an inner ear, a vascular problem or it could be related to medication. The PT woman was very encouraging that people shouldn't have to live with the condition. If it can't be cured, there are coping methods that make it less life intrusive. I'm hoping that he finds an answer because it come on several times a day and is very disconcerting to him.

Helene - I'm glad you're making progress in getting him help. It makes sense that it could come from a variety of sources. My first two thoughts would be cardiologist and ENT. Here's hoping for answers and improvement!

I stuck to my eating plan yesterday. My dinner? NS beef with wedged potatoes. Loved that meal. Of course it's long gone. This one had a best buy date in 2013. LOL!

I've taken a few breaks and worked on organizing my stash. Didn't worry about expiration dates at this point just organization. I figure I'll supplement the stash with frozen diet foods and fresh produce (and of course skim milk). I may need to do a NS order just to stock up on french toast. Supermarket diet pancake and french toast breakfasts seem to have disappeared. I've got plenty of wonderslim pancakes but I don't always have time to cook pancakes. Especially on days I feed.

Jack's second post op checkup went well. They sedated him again and cleaned everything out. Finally seeing what looks like pink, healthy tissue. Little glaring on a black cat but if he can breathe, I'll take it!

DH is really struggling with mouth pain. He's been to the dentist twice in two weeks. The dentist says it's just sensitive gums and suggested Sensodyne toothpaste. I suggested a second opinion since it's making his already existing sleep problems even worse.

I love the tiger memes, Maryanne, especially the last one!

Today is the first day in a week that my back is not hurting. Last Friday I leaned over slightly to lift something off a low table, and immediately felt a sharp pain in my lower back. After that, any and all movement became extremely painful, particularly when I was in bed and trying to change positions. Today it is much better although I’m still moving carefully to avoid aggravating the injury again. You may recall that I had a similar issue just before Christmas. The spine doctor I saw last year about this recommended core strengthening exercises and I’ve been trying to do them, but it doesn’t seem that they are helping that much. It’s very frustrating.

A second opinion wouldn't hurt. In the meantime, Sensodyne should help some. I use a water pik with warm water. I think my gums are less sensitive to bleeding when I use it.

Helene - I suggested he use my water pik but was met with derision. LOL!

Good Housekeeping had a brief mention of vertigo usually being caused by BPPV - benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. Caused by tiny calcium particles in your inner ear being out of place. And how your doctor can show you head movements to practice that will put the crystals back in place. Never heard of it. http://vestibular.org/understanding-vestibular-disorders/types-vestibular-disorders/benign-paroxysmal-positional-vertigo

Pam - I'm sorry you're in pain again. I'm a big fan of physical therapy, with the right therapist. Probably because I'm not sure how well I'd be walking today without it. I know not everyone is a fan (including DH but I think the one he saw sucked). I confess I forget if they've ever prescribed PT for you.

Maryanne, I have been to PT for my back and I try to do the exercises I was given but so far, I haven’t found them to be very helpful. I probably should do them more often and more consistently, but even when I was doing them consistently after my PT was over I didn’t find them very helpful. I’m thinking about getting a second opinion since these episodes are happening more frequently and the pain is worse each time I have an episode.

Pam - a second opinion couldn't hurt! You deserve some relief.

DH's physical therapist only had him doing floor exercise, which made him think he could do it at home and then of course he never did. The place I went was more like a gym and used a lot of equipment. A great many of the people were there for their backs. If I hadn't had to go back to work full-time after DH was laid off I'd probably still be going there 3 times a week.

I stuck to the plan yesterday. Day 2!

I just gave Jack all his pills for the day and then let him out of the laundry room (still hope to do the nose drops at 3-4 hour intervals). He was definitely ready. It's supposed to be 47 degrees today and 57 degrees tomorrow so I didn't want him to miss this weather. And of course the surgeon had already approved it. I left the heated bed and the heater on in the laundry room in case he wants to nap down there.
