Helene--I agree on the cranberry orange pastry. They have a blueberry lemon breakfast bar that is really good now, but like all good things, its future will be in question.

I want you to know that I might be a cat:

I like the harvest nut bar and the cinnamon raisin bar BUT there are SO few times that I need/want a bar for breakfast. I want the Smart Ones pancake and french toast breakfasts back. And apparently it's just not happening. Every grocery store diet breakfast seems to involve eggs in some fashion.

I have a breakfast bar with a small glass of 1% milk almost every morning. I’ve found some I enjoy from Zone Perfect that have at least 10 grams of protein for around 200 calories and they keep me full until lunchtime. I’ve never been a big egg lover, so breakfast isn’t my favorite meal anyway. The bars work for me because they are quick and easy, fairly low calorie, and they keep me full for an acceptable period of time. The only breakfast foods I really enjoy are things like hash browns, bacon, French toast, waffles, cinnamon rolls, etc. Obviously, I wouldn’t dare eat those very often!

Pam, I like your choice of breakfast favorites. Yum. Those are the kind of things I'd order if I went out to breakfast. My favorite breakfast involves eggs in some fashion. Lately, I've been following Hungry Girl's recipes for Egg Beaters that you nuke in a mug. I add veggies and a sprinkle of cheese to them. I spray the mug with cooking spray and soak it right away so it' an easy clean up. I have a pouch of real bacon (Hormel) pieces. I'll sometime add a small amount of it to the egg mixture. I add toast or an English muffin to the egg mug for a good breakfast. When I started NS, I didn't care for the bars at all. As time went by, I found I liked them but didn't find them a satisfying breakfast. If I use them, I'll have one for lunch with a salad.

    From Linda Spangle:

Follow the "new math" for weight loss

To make consistent progress with any weight-loss plan, you need to be on your program 95% of the time. If you do the math, this means staying on track 19 out of 20 days!
Rather than assume you have to be perfect for a year, set a goal of 19 days on your plan. Track it, monitor it, and push hard to accomplish it.

Anytime you have a day that's not quite on program, just assume it's one of your 20 days. But that's the only break you get. If you have more than one out of 20 days off your plan, you're decreasing your odds for success.

Mark your progress on a calendar and push for 19 days in a row. When you reach that point, you can either start counting again or choose to have one slightly relaxed day, then start a new 20-day run.

It was a long day so I didn't really feel like exercising, but I turned to Hulu and ER and put in an hour on the cycle. Have no idea if it is really doing anything much but I didn't want to break the routine. So far, I've put in 689 minutes this week.

Jean - you're doing great on the exercise!

I've done 140 minutes already this week on the treadmill. You're way ahead of me. I'm flipping back and forth on my tablet while I'm on the treadmill between season 5 of My 600 pound life (currently Milla) and the first episode of the Good Fight. I've also got the first season of Bosch stored but so far can't get into it and I LOVE the Bosch books.

I'm getting ready for the Olympics by cleaning out the DVR!

I discovered that if you buy a season of a series on Amazon they'll add the new episodes as they come out so I bought Season 6 of My 600-lb life and deleted the first episodes off the DVR.

Maryanne--I laughed out loud when I saw the "scratching post" meme. You are doing great. There is nothing like some entertainment to make those exercise minutes speed by.

Helene--I tried your microwavable egg beaters thing today. It had been a long time since I had done that. It is definitely an easy way to fix them, with a dab of salsa added after the microwaving,

I read the People (I think) article on Bob Harper. Basically, he said despite doing all the right things, he could not beat the genetic factors for heart disease. I think there is a genetic disposition for it in my family also. My grandmother, mother and my siblings died from heart disease.

I have the cystoscopy with retrograde on February 26. The worst thing about it is doing a prep like you do for a colonoscopy. They will use the "Michael Jackson Juice" on me so I'll need to get someone to drive. This version is done every six months until I appear cancer free for three years, at which time it will be done once a year.

Jean, I'm glad to hear the eggs turned out so well for you. Maryanne could try this method to reproduce the Florentine Eggbeaters that she used to buy. DH'd heart problems were definitely genetic based. His dad had a couple of heat attacks in his 50s. DH made it into his 70s before he had his heart attack. Unlike his dad, DH never smoked and he had a healthier lifestyle. His doctor had him on low dose aspirin and statins for several years before the attack. That might have helped to delay his attack. He's doing very well now. I see Bob i advertising Brilenta now. I hope he continues to do well. Good luck with your test.

My 92 year old father is going in Friday for a heart catheterization and maybe stent. My brother (who has lived in the family home for years so now that dad has moved back home they're reluctant roomies) is going to take him. He says he likes his cardiologist but can't always understand her. He's not sure what nationality she is. He said the second visit he understood more than the first. He's annoyed he could only choose the day and not the time of day and annoyed that they can't tell him ahead of time whether he'll have to stay overnight.

    I miss those EB!

I posted on the NS board about eating a BBQ beef with rice and beans and someone said it made her miss them all over again! (It was dated 2014 but tasted great).

I got up early this morning to get the colonies fed at daybreak because they are forecasting nasty weather today. I wanted everyone to have a full belly and be back in their shelters. I was worried about whether Pep Boys guy would be there but he appeared as soon as he heard my van. Because they weren't open yet I guess there was no competing noise. Very little traffic too around here on Sunday mornings.

Today is day 3 of CROM paperwork/chores. Tomorrow it's back to my paid job.

Maryanne--Love the pics. I hope your father does well with the cath. They probably couldn't tell him if he would go home the same day simply because if they discover something that needs to be done, they will likely do it at that time

NS email for the day! I get them all the time now that I no longer get an auto delivery. Today's Super Bowl special is buy $150 of a la carte and get a 14 day Snack and Go Sampler.

When I cancelled the AD, I enrolled in something called Nutrisystem Advantage. Basically, any a la carte orders are shipped free, plus there is a discount on the entrees.

Jean - I think I'm on the same NS "plan". It really has worked for me. No way do I need/want 28 days worth of food. There's less and less that interests me.
