Maryanne--Great memes. The hairless kitten one is hilarious!

Good luck to your dad. DH has had 3 catherization test over the last few years and they went well. If your dad doesn't have any complications, he can probably go home the same day. Does your brother sit in on the appointments so 2 people are listening to what the doctor says? I find that helps.

Helene - I've stayed out of the dad/brother dynamic. It's very weird. The two of them have very little interaction although living in the same house. I have suggested to dad that if he decides to look for an apartment that he consider Baltimore so I can care for him.

I had a surprise revelation today. I'd been thinking that my lowest weight last year was around early May - the time of our annual client seminar. It wasn't. I weighed the same this morning as I did at our seminar. So I have 3 months to take off some pounds before this year's seminar. Motivation!

That' a good nudge for you to get back on track. What a nice surprise to see that you hadn't gained in the last year.

Unfortunately I lost 13 more pounds and put it back on but it certainly could be worse. Maybe this will truly be my year!!

Maryanne--I agree with Helene and also with you in that this truly will be your year.

I decided not to work today and, instead, have been trying out my new shredder I got from Amazon. My old one died a few months ago, and I had forgotten how much they help with instant paper control, not to mention fun at watching those itty bitty confetti cuts mount up..

I just finished my hour of exercise.

I get SO annoyed at all the mail I receive that absolutely has to be shredded. Most of it is from accounts that I have opted to be "paperless". Apparently that only pertains to important paper, not to things like offers for new credit cards or offers for lines of credit.

My next goal: 5 more pounds to be "merely" overweight.

I just got home from a routine visit with my family practice doctor for my hypertension medication and got pretty thoroughly scolded about my weight. She wants me to lose 20 pounds before I see her again in 6 months. I agreed to try, but I’m not sure that’s a realistic goal, given how slowly I lose when I’m not doing 60-90 minutes a day of cardio. I really don’t think I can do that much cardio now due to my ankle and back issues. I have to go back tomorrow morning for labs.

It’s cold and drizzly here today. The rain held off until I had parked my car in the garage, then it began to pour. At least my timing was good for the rain, lol.

Pam--If you could lose an average of a pound a week, you would meet that goal but even 10 to 15 pounds off would make a difference. I have lost an average of a pound a week since getting this and being faithful at logging food. I log faithfully in December before starting my routine on January 1. It has made a difference for me. I got it at Amazon; it is a heavy duty mini-cycle. It weighs over 20 pounds so it does not move when you pedal. It has several levels of resistance, and like most exercise equipment estimates calories burned, distance, etc.

I read articles on the weight loss effectiveness of these. Just think of it as a downsized recumbent bike in which you use your own chair. Go to Amazon and check out Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B0418 Magnetic Mini Exercise Bike, Gray. The reviews are great and I love to use it; it is the first exercise gadget that I have loved and faithfully use.

I just did another hour on my mini-cycle while watching Hulu. I love that thing. It is addicting.

Maryanne--I'll never get to being "just overweight;" when I get close, my continued loss in height keeps me obese and most don't consider me obese just to look at me. I take all those meds to help prevent it, etc. but I am also on drugs that leeches calcium from the bones.

Jean - I love that cat!

Pam - you need to decide what's realistic for you, given your current limitations, and set up your own goal!

I'm actually not logging right now. We'll see how long before everything slows down and I have to start that.

Our weather is supposed to be bad tomorrow so I rescheduled Jessicat's oncology appointment. That means I get to stay home all day. So I decided to have "packet day". I haven't done that for awhile. I really need to be here mostly all day because it's such frequent small, high protein meals.

Jack had his 4-week checkup today and the surgeon was pleased at his progress. In fact, I think Jack's doing better than even the surgeon expected. He sounds good right now and I'm trying to make each day good for him!

I tear off the address section from mail and shred that. The rest goes into recycling. As long as all personal info i ripped off, I feel safe just tossing the rest. After errands, we stopped at the rec center and did 30 minutes of exercise. I improve a little each time in minutes done and/or distance but it's slow progress.

I’m not sure whether to look at it as fate, coincidence, or karma, but today I had an email from Nutrisystem offering me $300 off to come back. I decided to go for it as a jump start to losing weight and signed up for the 28 day autoship program with unlimited choices between the frozen and shelf stable items. I have to do it for 4 months to get the full $300 discount, but I think that will work out pretty well for me as far as timing. I think with the discount and free shipping, I’m actually paying less than I was 6 years ago when I left the program. Hopefully I can tolerate the food. I chose mostly frozen items so now I have to make room in the freezer. Fortunately, right now it isn’t as full as we usually keep it.

We went to the chiropractor today and he said we were in better shape than we were in last winter. We had some minor issues and we both felt better after adjustments. He has a hydro wave massage bed which helps work out the kinks. He showed me a couple of posture exercises to help with the tightness I get between my shoulder blades.

Pam - what a hoot! Took me a minute but I guess that thing sticking out is a doorstop? Maybe?

From my brother about our dad's heart catheterization:

Dad is back from heart check; he did NOT get/need a "stint" (spelling?) Per Dr for 92 good shape, treat with some medicine only.
