    Week 1: ✅ 8/13-8/19
    Week 2: ✅ 8/20-8/26
    Week 3: ✅ 8/27-9/2
    Week 4: ✅ 9/3-9/9
    Week 5: ✅ 9/10-9/17

    15 mins daily x 28 days = 7 Hours.
    Two insights:
    1) I’m going to fritter away little chunks of time less in future... they add up!
    2) Seeing how long it takes to go through photos/memorabilia motivates me to discard/give away anything I don’t LOVE. I don’t want to have to do this again.

    I’ve really been on a roll. Maybe a little bit too much of a roll because it’s keeping me up late at night — so much for my sleep goal LOL Last night I fell asleep with a Huge smile on my face...priceless family vacation photos, videos of me teaching, digital art I made & photos of art I’ve drawn, painted, sewn... It’s like a treasure hunt!

    @MadisonMolly and @PackerFaninGB You are really rolling now! Keep up the momentum going and think about the freedom that comes with having your stuff organized. I’m excited about getting my upstairs and main floor cleared out (next week’s goal) and also emails printed, filed, and deleted. The grandkids are all in school this year so baby toys are going out. Time to make room for the volleyball, basketball, and baseball stuff. I’m excited and looking forward to having more space and time to get back to my sewing projects.

    This is going faster than I anticipated, perhaps because I’m in the right mindset & know I can photograph things I want to remember... & the fun I’m having remembering great times. I also have done many passes before on much of it over the decades, so mostly dealing with digital atm.

    Funny thing is how it’s spurring me on to finalize clothing, jewelry, bathroom drawers...even hubby is onboard!

    Now I’m labeling everything with a label maker lol

    I Really want that spacious, organized feeling ... and at the 3-year mark,I’m so close! Perhaps by early spring I can begin the floors/windows/painting re-do! EXCITED!!

    Thanks @nebslp!! I’m excited for you, too!!! It’s so freeing!

    That's a great project to tackle! I have been meaning to go through the toys downstairs and start tossing the outdated and bring in newer age appropriate things for the kids. I'm excited FOR you!

    Decluttering the basement and making it into more livable space is on my "winter project" list! :)

    Ok, I don’t know what happened to me...but I’m kind of crazed now with the decluttering, and I think I need to slow it down a bit. I have gotten a tremendous amount done, but I seem worn out.

    I’m declaring the following areas off limits for myself declutter/reorganizing until end of September:
    * Bathroom
    * Our bedroom closet
    * Repair/Clean Jewelry
    * Reorg Of Bedding
    * Scarves: cleaning
    * Kitchen
    * Art Studio/Attic/Closet after I complete the few things out on main table.
    * Garage
    * Print photos & memorabilia

    Things I can do:
    * Highest & High Priority ToDo items
    Minimum 15 mins, Max 1 hr M-F

    * Delete/file Work emails / Digital photographs
    Maximum 15 mins per day, never after 9 PM, Save for winter.

    * plan weekend vacation or two/Calendar!!!

    Art, lots of Art... Have fun!
    Walking, hiking, Pilates, but not too hard...enjoy the glorious Fall...
    See friends!
    Practice gratitude.

    @MadisonMolly2017 I love your plan above! Slow and steady, dont overdo so that you just quit...I have to tell myself that all the time. I have a nasty habit of jumping into things with both feet and then only lasting a short time. This time I'm trying to do the 15 minutes!

    YES! So far, I am sticking with above plan 95%. Thank you @PackerFanInGB
    I hope you are doing well!!

    ❌did label & straighten somethings in garage as I re-fluffed the last load of laundry
    ✅ Did 1/2 hour of a highest priority item!! Making progress!! I saved us $6 a month & am waiting on my other request!
    ✅ Did <-15 mins deleting emails
    ✅ Did some coloring on an art app. I’ll count it :)
    ✅ Did ask for harder Pilates workout, but did NOT also take a walk.

    Definitely feeling a little more relaxed/centered. 🔆

    @MadisonMolly2017, you have been a decluttering force and an inspiration to all of us. But I think you are wise to step back, back off a bit, and take a break. You don’t want to burnout and lessen the joy and satisfaction you are getting from your organizing and decluttering work. There is likely no deadline you need to meet (unless you are selling your house or something). You have the rest of your life, although clearly it won’t take that long.

    I think when you discover the life changing power of daily habits as you clearly have from the many healthy habits you’ve created for yourself over the last few years, it’s only natural to want to create even more habits. But I think there’s a sweet spot for balance. For me, sustainability is the key. Can I keep doing this habit or is it too much?

    I think you’ve got a great plan for moving forward in a sustainable way!

    I’m so happy to hear this, @PackerFanInGB. Creating 15 minute-ish habits (sometimes 10 minutes, occasionally 20 minutes) has been the key for me. Walking, HIIT, guitar playing, meditation, decluttering, and now yoga have stuck and enhanced my life in so many ways. They’ve stuck because they don’t take much time. Now I won’t even attempt to start a habit that takes more than 20 minutes.

    Thank you for your helpful & supportive response! I definitely needed to slow down and regroup. Taking a break from digital photo & email decluttering helped tremendously! Seeing my friends & hanging out with my husband did, too. I dealt with my increasing hunger, decreased intensity of exercise, and even slept more.

    I did do some rearranging of art studio &some labeling, but happily, not in a rush.

    I have to say the Marie Kondo method really does work. I found notes (and photos) and plans for the drawers in my Art Studio & I’ve taken all the areas I mentioned 2-3 huge steps past where I got them last summer.

    I guess - just like maintenance being forever the purging & acquiring, and refining of the locations of items will be forever, too, but I find it Much easier & more satisfying now!

    Happy Tuesday everyone! Boy, am I ever in the mood to declutter! I cannot believe the things I threw away today. I went through files in our file cabinet, some of which I've apparently had since 2006, and started shredding and reorganizing folders. Then I went through the drawers of a dry sink, which is in the spare room, and I threw away almost everything! I now have 3 empty drawers I can use for clothing, which is AWESOME since we have limited dresser and closet space in this house. Pretty happy about that! Hoping to do more digital decluttering tonight, but if I don't, I'm okay with it. :smile:

    I sure do love to declutter, which is something I would NEVER have guessed I would ever say! I've been a sentimental pack-rat my entire life. It was the first decluttering challenge in the group that made me see how freeing it is! Thank you again @themedalist for all your guidance, support and knowledge! It truly has made a difference in my life!

    I'm coming down to the wire on birthday skirt #2 - Birthday Party is Sunday. I have the embellishment done, so I just need to sew the pockets together and attach. I'll definitely share a picture when I'm done.

    I’m looking forward to seeing the finished product.

    My granddaughter asked me to make a skirt for her and of course we all know what my answer was🙂. I looked on Pinterest for ideas and at patterns. There are some really cute ones. I’ll have her look and let me know what she wants.

    I am learning to quilt but I'm terrible at it. I cannot even imagine trying to make clothing!

    I am going to take this new habit off-line fir myself. It’s definitely part of my days now! Thank you!

    I find the “15 minutes” a day keeps big projects moving... it also keeps me on top of my “to do” list... sorting it by highest, high, medium, and low has Really helped. I focus on the “Highest” with great discipline.
    I made progress on both of the highest (and a third new item that became a Highest) today. All three will be done by the end of September, if not earlier!

    This makes me so happy to hear, @PackerFanInGB! Clutter clutters our lives in so many ways, weighs us down, and can cause us stress, since they can become visual reminders of projects still unfinished.

    Well done you!

    Haven’t really made much progress on my project, a series of thank you letters. As I’ve think I’ve mentioned, I recently started a new job which is going great, but I now have, with the commute, 11 hour days on Tues-Wed-Thurs so that I can work a half day at home on Mondays and Friday. I would like to be more present here and comment mid week, but sitting in front of a computer all day makes me want to do anything but computers once I get home. Thanks for understanding. I love reading all your posts on all the various threads and I’m so proud of our group of habit makers and action takers!

    I know I will work on my letters as time permits. I’m not gonna stress about it. I did have a wonderful catch-up phone call last night with an old friend who was the one who got me started in long distance walking, introduced me to meditation, the guitar, and has imprinted on my life in so many positive ways. I told him how he had changed my life and how much I valued our friendship. Though it’s not a letter, words work too. :)

    So I guess I have made some progress, huh?

    @themedalist , your schedule sounds a bit like mine, but I only have 2 of those long days. That is tough. And getting off the computer is important to your health.

    And for my big reveal:

    You are too kind! I am thrilled that I’m getting things done! And it’s bringing hubby & I even closer as we get rid of old things & organize/prioritize financial tasks.

    Lowering our stress is my main motivator!

    I’ll have to call Marie!!! Hahaha

    On the good news front, my dad said he would take me up on my offer to assist him with all his papers!!! He even downloaded the Kondo book & started reading it! I think it will be really filing to hang out and chat, while making his life better! 💞

    Schedules like that can be very stressful, and I completely understand not wanting to hop on a computer at the end of the day. I'm like that a lot even on days I didn't put in long hours. Lately I have been struggling to log onto the computer at all... Sometimes we all just need a break, and just being in the present is the best!!!

    I'll bet you made your friend's whole day! Heck, maybe his whole week! Hearing the sincerity in your voice was probably worth a million bucks.

    xoxo
